▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅

HOURS PASSED SINCE THE START OF THE GAMES, AND THE KILLING UP IN THE ARENA, (Y/N) was still inside the room under the rubble in the tunnels, with Lucy Gray and Jessup. Both were asleep in their spots, not waking up from their peaceful sleep beside her, as she fought to stay awake holding her weapon, to make sure no one would get in and attack them.

She was knelt a little bit beside the small puddle of water directly in front of the sleeping pair, hearing small shift coming from them as she cleaned off the dust on the bowstring with her fingers, being careful not to wipe away the marking of Cass on it.

Her (E/C) eyes glanced over her shoulder hearing some more movement of bodies, biting her tongue to keep herself calm telling herself that no one would get inside, unless they could break down the metal steal door.

Standing up from the position she was in, her braid flew back over her shoulder, more strains of hair sticking to her sweaty forehead from the recent events. She crouches down in front of Lucy Gray who was awake, a frown over her brows looking at Jessup groaning in his sleep, before fluttering open his eyes.

Jessup realised who was around him causing him to freak out, and shove Lucy Gray's hand off of him roughly, scooting back away from them, staring like the sisters did something wrong. It caused the girls to share an alarmed look, and (Y/N)'s finger tips to brush along her bowstring, just in case.

And she was right to do so, because the moment she spotted white foam spilling from his mouth, he didn't hesitate to lunge at them both. She acted quickly pulling up Lucy Gray by the wrist, yelling at her to run first, as Jessup was crawling up from the floor like a rapid dog.

Hand in hand the sisters ran like their life depended on it back through the tunnels, after they managed to escape through the small hole again, and all the way back to up where the games first started, Jessup chasing them like a madman.

In the room at the Academy watching this all play out on the massive, and many Tv screens, Cassian shoot out of his chair with wide, worried eyes seeing the danger (Y/N) was in. His finger twisted the ring on his thumb nervously, jaw clenched tightly feeling helpless not being able to help her right now.

"What is he doing? There's no way Jessup would attack them like that-" He grunted out in question to his brother equally concerned beside him, his blue eyes not moving away from her face on the screen for a second.

Jessup's mentor shakes her head with pursed lips, already stood by beside them staring at the screens also confused, and worried, "Something's wrong. He wouldn't turn on them like this." She stated, gaining side looks from the two brothers.

Come on, Fireheart. Go to the stands. Cass thought to himself over and over again like a prayer in his head watching her figure run, gripping onto the red rose he had in his pocket, the very one he gave to her when they first met.

Back inside the arena up top where it was mostly destroyed, and rubble all over the ground, the two sisters were trying to run away from Jessup sprinting after them. Every time (Y/N) wanted to aim her bow, she hesitated not wanting to kill her friend, and continued pushing Lucy Gray up ahead to run faster.

"What did you do to me?!" Jessup sneered at one of them, more foam spilling from his mouth as he tripped over, and the girls made it onto the pile of rocks in the middle where there was once weapons.

(Y/N) helped up Lucy Gray onto the rocks that were hard to stabilize on, her breathing growing more rapid seeing how close Jessup was to them now, "Jessup, calm down!" She tried to exclaim, but he wasn't having any of it and yelled out more slurred speech of them doing something, "Whatever this is, I'm sure we can fix it-!"

She yelped when he almost swiped her face with the arm he threw out trying to grab her, and she quickly jumped onto the rocks up to where Lucy Gray was reaching for her hand. She grabbed onto her shaking hand tightly, the other one holding the weapon in case.

Both girls struggled to keep the rabies infected male away from them, himself growing more violent as he crawled up to where they were on the rocks, growling and sneering, foam dripping down from his mouth.

"What's wrong with him?!" Lucy Gray exclaimed in fear from behind the other girl, being protected with her body despite wanting to be beside her, and kept pulling them both up the steep rock fallen over.

(Y/N)'s grip on the rock was slipping a bit making her boots dig into the sides of it, shaking her head frantically, "I don't know!" She answered just as panicked, kicking away Jessup's hand trying to reach for her ankle, "But I'm sure it has something to do with the foam!"

From the corner of her eyes, she saw a drone flying towards them very fast, aiming for one individual. She ducked out of the way protecting Lucy Gray's head, as it smashed into Jessup, making him lose his balance, and fall off the pile of rocks, smacking his head on the rocks below.

When his advances stopped and it all went quiet expect for the girls heavy breathing through the air, (Y/N) made sure to keep Lucy Gray away from the edge, as she gulped her nerves down, and took a daring look over the rock below. She waited for Jessup to move, tears already stining her eyes as she knew he wasn't getting back up after hitting his head.

Giving a firm nod for Lucy Gray to stick behind her, the two carefully slid down the rocks to Jessup's body, being mindful of their clothes, and other rubble around them. (Y/N) lopped her bow over her shoulder with the arrows in the strap already attached to her, and stepped onto the flatform that held Jessup.

"Jessup?" She called quietly reaching down to kneel beside him, placing a hand on his chest seeing how it wasn't moving up and down. She blinked back more tears for her friend, looking to her side meeting Lucy Gray's already wet cheeks from crying.

She exhaled shakily knowing the cameras were zooming into their figures, making her blood boil but pushed her rage aside for now, "We're not going anywhere." She began to whisper to Jessup comforting, sniffling as she touched his limp hand on his chest, "You watched over us, now I watch over you. Sleep, get some rest now. You deserve it."

The girl heard a small sob coming from somewhere around her, whether it was hers, and Lucy Gray's, she didn't know. But all she did, was that Jessup was dead, and lifeless under her hands. She choked back any pained noises wanting to escape, gently closing his eyelids to make sure he looked like he was just sleeping.

Pulling back from the male whom was there for them from the beginning, (Y/N) cradled her crying sister against her side tightly, her blazing eyes glaring through her messy locks right up into the camera. She wasn't aiming this at Cassian, nor anyone else he favoured, but all the other horrible people inside watching them fight.

Her attention was snapped back when Lucy Gray tensed in her arms, and both turned their heads hearing a sudden loud noise. The two quickly got up to make a run for it, but they were now surrounded by other tributes in a circle, their smirks not making anything better.

(Y/N) was straight away pulling back her bowstring with an arrow already on it, in one swift movement directing it all the tributes, expression stone cold, "Back off." She warned lowly, body pressing into Lucy Gray's behind her, as they went back to back in the middle.

When you see other tributes, you run and don't ever look back. Cassian's words of advise play out in her mind, already knowing she's completey ignored all of it since the moment she took the weapon off of Lucy Gray. Not like it could be helped, they were going to kill them if she didn't do anything.

"Hello, Mockingjay girl. Lucy Gray." Treech taunted in a sick tone, his smirk wicked tugging at his lips, as he pointed his weapon at the girls trapped, "You two are not going anywhere."

(E/C) eyes were frantically searching around the arena for another hiding place, still backing up slowly with the bowstring aimed at the tributes. She made contact with the camera again, making a desperate face having a feeling Cassian and Coriolanus would help them in their time of need.

Treech took this opportunity to swing his chains at her shielding Lucy Gray, causing them both to jump back just in time missing the metal, that scraped along (Y/N)'s ankle, making her bite back a yell of pain. However she bounced back straight away, and shot an arrow directly in between Treech's feet, resulting in the tributes to break in exclaims of shock.

"Next one goes in between your eyes." She stood there looking brave as ever pointing another round of arrows, but this time it had the exact amount of tributes standing before her, "Choose your next moves wisely."

Coral chuckles in a not so friendly way twirling around the trident she had, "You think you're so tuff, don't you?" She sneered in question, jabbing the sharp side of the weapon at (Y/N) making her eyes narrow down, "When in reality, you're not. The only reason why you're still alive, is because of lover boy. But don't worry, you won't have to worry much longer."

Keep calm, she's just trying to get under your skin. (Y/N) thought to herself releasing a heavy exhale, blowing against the feathers at the back of the arrows, and shared a look with Lucy Gray, who gulped but nodded to assure she was alright.

All of a sudden out of nowhere a dozen of drones came flying towards them, from all different directions. The sisters quickly ducked to the floor protecting one another, as they all hit the other tributes, knocking them to the floor, either reving bad injuries or hurt from the dozen smashing against them.

When they weren't looking the girls stood up from the ground, (Y/N) tugging along Lucy Gray ignoring the pain in her ankle, and snatched a bottle of water, before running off to the hiding spot, behind some more rocks.

"You idiots!" Coral scolded the others when the drones had finished flying down, her voice coming out strained from getting the air knocked out of her, "How could you possibly let them get away?"

Treech groaned pushing off the broken pieces of glass from him, and stood up a bit wonky walking over to where Coral was, "Couldn't see a thing." He panted, his hat knocked off his head also.

Coral gritted her teeth using her free hand to grasp his collar, and roughly tugged him towards her in a threatening way, "Get this water into a pile, lumberjack! And then when you're done," She pointed to the beam behind them, "you two can watch that beam while we get your little rom from back home up there, at least!"

While they were busy with that, (Y/N) peeked her head around the corner seeing no one was around, and motioned for Lucy Gray to move more into the rock cave. They carefully shuffled into the darker part away from view, as she placed her bow beside her, and pulled out the compact that Cass gave her the night before.

Lucy Gray furrowed her brows a bit watching her sister act, already knowing what that was by Coryo telling her, and saw her (E/C) eyes looking into her for the go ahead. With a single nod, the girl removed the lid on the compact, revealing the rat poisoning.

She the removed the lid from the glass water bottle, and poured some of it into the water, blocking her nose with her clothes sleeve, being careful not to drop any. Once that was finished, she span the lid back onto the bottle, and slipped the compact back into her boot.

"Stay here. I'll be back in a second." She whispered quickly to Lucy Gray getting ready to stand back up, but the other girl whispered her protests also, making (Y/N) smile reassuringly, "Don't worry, I'll be alright."

Lucy Gray fell back onto her boot biting her bottom lip out of nervousness, watching her sister get up from the floor to peek around the corner, seeing the tributes trying to kill Lamina. And taking that chance, (Y/N) ran to the pile of waters, weapon around her shoulders in case.

In hurried movements, she began to pick up the bottles of water spilling them onto the floor beneath her, and would sometimes look over at the other tributes, in case they had spotted her already and to see if they were still busy killing Lamina.

Her eyes went a bit wide in horror mid way of dumping out the water, feeling her stomach churn seeing Coral stabbing Lamina with her trident, and her dead body falling off the beam they were standing on. Panic rose inside her more, when Coral had finally spotted her, and shouted loudly, "Hey! Get her!"

(Y/N) gritted her teeth placing the infected water off the side, leaving all the others empty in a pile, and took off running. Her hands found her bow swiftly, and place three arrows on the string in case, still running back to where Lucy Gray was hiding.

"Lucy Gray! C'mon, we gotta go!" She exclaimed in alarm coming to a quick stop pulling up the confused girl, who went pale spotting the tributes running after them, and let herself be pulled along.

The girls ran all the way back to where the weapons once were in the middle, and started to climb back up it again. Looking over her shoulder, (Y/N) shot another warning arrow directly at Coral's feet, who was not far behind them with the other tributes.

Lucy Gray ripped open the vent's door to quickly climb inside, yelling out for her sister to hurry up, and pulled (Y/N) into the small vent also. Just before Coral could get to them, and stab them with her trident, the girl slammed the door shut tight, causing Coral to shout in frustration, pounding her fist on the wheel vent door.

(Y/N) was breathing heavily glaring at Coral through the little slits in the air vent, keeping an arm outstretched over Lucy Gray's stomach for comfort. She watched Coral sneer out something, and stomp back to the other tributes, finally leaving them alone for now.

"Are you alright?" She spoke in a hushed question after a few seconds of catching their breaths, turning her head back to Lucy Gray checking her over for any injuries, "We should be safe here for a little while."

Lucy Gray swallowed hard leaning the back of her head on the wall behind them, and gripped onto (Y/N)'s hand tightly, "Y-yeah. As good as I can be." She assured in a raspy voice, it being like that from not having any water, which had her sister worrying.

A sudden noise from below dragged their attention away from one another, their eyes going wide in shock seeing how Coral had stabbed Tanner in the stomach with her weapon, pushing his dead body away without a care in the world.

It made (Y/N)'s blood boil once more at the easy betrayal to someone who was in her supposed team, and gripped onto her bow more. Her stomach dropped when they went after Wovey now, and had to physically keep herself seated, otherwise she would of ran out to save her.

The girls shared an uneasy look with one another as they now heard familiar coughing echoing in the arena, and looked through the slits to see Dill appearing from out of some rocks, no Reaper in sight with her surprisingly.

Dill weakly walked out of the rubble she was behind, limping over to where the waters were causing (Y/N)'s heart rate to speed up in fear, and pressed her chest onto the vent's door, watching Dill and praying she doesn't do what she thinks Dill will do.

"No, no, no, no-" She rapidly whispered to herself, digging her fingernails into her palms against the door, wide eyes seeing Dill bend down to the waters through the small gaps, "No-"

Lucy Gray bit down on her bottom lip not saying anything, and placed a hand on her sisters back, trying to bring her comfort even though the girl knew it wouldn't really work right now. What was about to happen wasn't her fault, and Lucy Gray knew that, but (Y/N) wouldn't.

Dill placed the bottle into her lap unscrewing the lid, face full of marks and dirt from the arena. Without hesitating nor knowing what was in it, she lifted the glass up to her mouth, taking a long sip of it which did just end her life.

Unable to stare anymore, (Y/N) looked away scrunching her eyes up to keep her tears at bay, and pushed her face into Lucy Gray's shoulder, who this time cradled her close. They hear some laboured coughing, and then it went silent which signaled Dill had now passed.

They jumped a bit startled together when a furious yell echoed in the arena now, making the girls look through the slits to see Reaper on his knees crying out, Dill's lifeless body laying across his lap not moving at all, as the buzzer goes off again to signal another fallen tribute.

Watching from within the Academy, Cassian's heart was clenching painfully inside his chest, his fingers grasping his red jacket already having a feeling his precious (Y/N) would blame herself forever for Dill's death.

He knew she would, because that's the type of person she was. It's not she was alone though, he let his twin brother sent in those drones to selfishly save her, so in a way he was a borderline murder too. But no matter what, he promised her he'd do anything to insure her and Lucy Gray coming out on top.

And that's what he was going to do.

Make his fireheart win.
