Box Of Chocolates
(hi yes this is a late valentines oneshot uh let me just inform you that Dallon is 19 and Ryan is 18 and the milkshake shop was like one of those aesthetic pink back in the day stores but this story is not back in the day)
Ryan stirred his milkshake with his straw, waiting for absolutely nothing tohi happen. Like every year. He didn't have a lover, a friend, a date, anyone. He looked like the moon being yelled at to just go down so the sun and happiness can come up. Not that he wanted to fix that.
"What's with the RBF Ross?"
Ryan looked up at Angie, the only worker that had bothered to talk to him over the months. He just shrugged.
"Nothing."
Angie wiped the counters down while listening.
"Nothing what?"
"I have nothing to be happy about, so why not be bitchy? Plus, I'm always like this."
Ryan sipped his milkshake, going silent when another costumer came in. Angie got ready to take the persons order as Ryan played with a coin. He froze when he heard the person's rather nice voice, but only for a second, and even then he still didn't look at them. He didn't like talking to people.
Angie went to the back, looking over at the front every once and a while. She was trying to get Ryan to look at her while the other costumer wasn't paying attention. Ryan noticed her after a few crazy looking motions from Angie, raising an eyebrow in confusion. Angie pointed over to the costumer, telling Ryan to look. Ryan rolled his eyes, decidjng to humor himself and take a glance at the man.
Humor himself he did.
He was tall, slim nose and dark cresents holding up blue icy eyes that contrasted with the muddy tuffs of hair frizzing in an oh so entrancing way.
A glance turned into staring, and staring turned into getting caught.
The man smiled when he noticed Ryan. Ryan snapped out of his daze and looked back at Angie. Angie gave him a thumbs up and a dorky smile. Ryan glared at her, going back to distracting himself with his coin again.
Angie came back, placing the milkshake in front of the man and leaving to the back. Ryan and him were left alone, a random love song playing throughout the store.
"You alone?"
Ryan faced the man again, surprised he was actually talking to him after he caught Ryan staring like an idiot.
"Yeah, you?"
"Mhm. Valentines Day sucks."
"I know."
Dallon hesitated for a second, but began speaking again.
"Wanna go to Family Dollar and buy useless shit and then ride around in a shopping cart?"
This got Ryan to smile. "You read my mind." He placed a ten dollar bill on the counter, getting up.
"Oh hey, what's your name?"
"Dallon, yours?"
"Ryan."
"Cool."
!¡!¡!¡!¡
Dallon took the stuffed animal from the shelf. It was a green and blue monkey with soft fur.
"He looks like a Dante."
Dallon hummed in agreement. "He does. You should name yours Damien."
Ryan had a blue and sparkly Rhino, a little bigger than the monkey. Ryan nodded. "fuck yeah,"
They put the stuffed animals on the counter, along with the rest of the things they got. They both paid half and half to keep it even, and left with four bags.
They walked around for a bit, looking for a shopping cart. When they did find one, Ryan hopped in the cart with the bags.
"There's this one parking lot we can go to, it has a hill not to far from it too."
Dallon nodded. "Alright Ry, lead the way."
For some weird, weird reason, that nickname stuck in Ryan's head for a long, long while.
!¡!¡!¡!¡
"Dallon!! Dallon get the cart I'm gonna die!!"
Dallon and Ryan were both laughing their asses off, Ryan still a little frightened that Dallon would let him crash the way he was driving the cart. Dallon got the cart at the last second, wiping the tears from his eyes. They were at the hill, which had a very nice sunset. Ryan punched his side.
"I hate you."
"You love me."
"Reconsidering that."
"Meanie!"
Ryan rolled his eyes. Dallon smiled at him, making sure the cart was secure on the ground before letting Ryan get out.
They found a comfortable spot to sit, which had a nice view of the sun. It was warm too.
Dallon's POV
"Hey do you wanna make out?"
I looked over at Ryan with shocked eyes.
"What!?"
"I said do you want to listen to music?"
I need to get my hearing checked. I swear I heard something else, but maybe it's just my lonely brain playing tricks on me.
"Uh, yeah yeah..."
Ryan nodded at me, playing music through his phone. I laid down on the slant of the hill, trying to convince myself that Ryan was just asking a normal question. I just wasn't sure though.

3rd POV
"Dallon you're supposed to act serious!"
Dallon just continued laughing, giving up on keeping his pose. Ryan groaned.
"You are impossible to work with! Just stay still for two seconds!"
Dallon collected himself after a few minutes, getting back into pose. Ryan took a few pictures while Dallon somehow managed not to laugh. It paid off though, because the pictures were absolutely amazing.
"Holy shit...Ryan you should become a photographer, these are amazing!"
Ryan scoffed, snatching his phone back. "What do you think I am? A construction worker?" He mocked, shoving his phone back into his pocket and crossing his arms over his chest as he sat.
Dallon shook his head, laughing a little. "You get mad easily." he said as he let him arm wrap around Ryan's body, bringing him closer.
Ryan felt his heart flutter and go all warm at the gesture. Ryan hated that feeling. He hated it so much.
"Whatever."
Ryan fiddled with his fingerless gloves, trying to ignore how intense the feeling got. Instead he watched the sun set with Dallon, pretending that he wasn't effected by the contact.
They stood like this for a while, till the sky was turning darker and darker. Just before the last of the sun set, Dallon turned to Ryan.
"Hey, since we're both alone today, we could kiss to feel less lonely?"
Ryan sputtered out words once he comprehended what Dallon had said.
"W-what makes you think I'll kiss a guy like you!?"
Dallon stared Ryan down with a knowing smirk. Ryan's entire face was as red as an apple, eyes wider than an owls.
"B-you-I hate you!"
Dallon smiled, deciding to tease him.
"Is poor little rywo baby mad? I think he needs a nap," Dallon said in a baby voice, giving him a pout.
Ryan rolled his eyes. Count: 10. Wonder if he'll find a brain back there.
"Hush your motherfucking trap."
Dallon was having too much fun with this.
"What was that? Looks like baby rywo is too tired t-"
"I said shut the fuck up!"
Dallon even seemed surprised at the sudden outburst. Ryan didn't realize how angry he sounded. Then again he didn't exactly care. Dallon shouldn't be making him feel all these things, all at once.
"Shut the fuck up and just...ugh! Fucking-"
Ryan grabbed Dallon's neck with his hands, smashing their lips together angrily. Dallon leaned into the kiss, his hand slowly traveling to Ryan's shoulder to pull him closer. Ryan hated the feeling of butterflies and fireworks. He hated it till now. Why was Dallon so different from other people. Why did those monarchs and shooting stars side with Ryan all of a sudden?
Who knew anger would make something so lovely happen?
"I fucking hate you, Weekes"
"Well you're sweeter than a box of chocolates aren't ya?"
Ryan pressed their lips together once again, but Dallon brang his own force and pushed Ryan to lay on his back and kiss him harder.
What a Valentine day.
