||Felix's POV||
Watching Eno practice, was kind of nice. She could communicate well with her fellow teammates, and she wasn't harsh to anyone that made minor mistakes.
Before Dafe had gone to his emergency meeting, he had informed me that he'd tell Eno what was going on - talking about the bet. I wasn't angry, cause I too wanted to let Eno know.
The thing was, all I've done, still doing and will do in the future, wasn't because of the bet. It was at first. But after that night, when Eno and I almost kissed, I realised that I have been having feelings for her all this while.
But all of a sudden after the emergency meeting, Dafe informed me that he had change his mind and I must complete the bet. And when I asked him what the big deal was, he informed me that Eno, was very rude to him. So, any trace of sympathy in his dictionary, was long gone.
"Alright alright," Mr Solomon clapped his hands, as he began to walk back and forth. "You can have a fifteen minutes break. There are snacks on the snack table," He pointed at the table, located at the extreme.
Dafe, after giving some pointers to his fellow teammates, ran over to the bleachers to meet me.
"You owe me one," I growled at him, once he sat beside me.
"Whoa whoa," Dafe chuckled, "Think of this as a bro night. You've got everything you need for school tomorrow in your backpack, right?" I nodded. "All you've got to do, is take a shower at the boys locker room. There are foods over there and you won't be bothered of not having tomorrow's subject in your backpack, cause we all know you carry all your books to school."
"Shut up," I smacked him lightly at the back of his head. "You can't call this a bro night, cause Saviour's not here."
Dafe shrugged his right shoulder, "It's not my fault he wanted his beauty sleep."
"Besides," I said, before pointing at the table located at the other side of the court. "That's not food, that's junks. And it's bad for the stomach and teeth."
"Yeah yeah, we all know you've got perfect teeth." Dafe stood up from his spot, then stretched his hand towards me. "Come on man, let's go find something to put inside our stomachs."
I shook my head but held his outstretched hand nonetheless, and helped myself up. We both walked side by side to the snack table. Turns out, it wasn't only snacks present.
I sighted Eno, munching on a meat pie, without any care of the world. A smile crawled up my lips, as I left Dafe and walked towards her.
"Hey," I said, while looking at the snack table. There were a lot of varieties to choose from.
"Hey," She responded, then grasped a hamburger from its plate. "Here," She stretched the hamburger towards me.
"Thank you," I accepted it and took a small bite.
"Don't you feel..... Bored?" Eno asked all of a sudden.
"Bored of what?" My voice was laced with confusion.
Eno shrugged, before grasping a toothpick, to pick a meatball. "Sitting on the bleachers and watching us train."
I chuckled, before fully turning my attention towards her. "Eno,"
"Hmm?" She turned to look at me, with raised brows.
"I can never feel bored watching you."
Eno's eyes widened, when she heard me say those words. "Stop it!" She smacked me harshly on the chest. I knew she was trying to hide the visible smile that kept on displaying on her face. "Don't say that!"
I chuckled, while I turned to search for more edible stuff on the table.
"Hey Felix,"
I turned to spare a glance at Eno. "Yeah?"
"Do you play?" She asked.
I creased my brows at her, "Play what?"
She pointed at something, before responding. "Basketball."
That made me laugh. "Come on Eno, have you ever seen me with a basketball before?"
"B-But," She stuttered, "Dafe's your best friend, and he's pretty good. The best actually."
"I don't have any interest in it," Was my short respond.
"Would...." She dragged, making me to look at her with so much interest. "Would you play around with me before the break ends?"
"I don't play, Eno." I replied dryly.
"I'll teach you," She smiled, while I looked at her confusingly.
"You, teach me?" I scoffed. "Do you want to show everyone how lame I am in basketball?"
She shook her head frantically. "No, it's um..... It's just for fun."
"Right...." I nodded my head slowly, then shoved a meatball into my mouth. "Alright, let's do this."
She gently placed the small plastic plate back on its table, before dragging me to the middle of the court. The others were watching Eno and I, with kin interest.
Eno bent to retrieve the ball. "This here, is a basketball." She said, pointing at the ball in her possession.
"Eno, I know what a basketball looks like." I replied dryly.
"Right," She began to bounce the ball rapidly on the hard floor. "Try taking possession of the ball."
"While bouncing it like that?" I pointed at the ball she kept on bouncing. Eno didn't reply with words, she just nodded her head.
Alright, let's do this.
I bent a little, then clapped both hands as I concentrated on Eno and the bouncing ball.
She passed the ball from her left hand to her right hand, without taking her eyes off of me.
I reached for the ball, but Eno swiftly turned around. And before my brain could register what just happened, she was behind me.
"Come on Felix, don't tell me a girl's gonna beat your ass." She teased.
"I won't be offended by that," I tried stating the fact. "Cause it's clear that I don't even know what I'm doing."
"Come on, you can do it." She stopped bouncing, then held the ball with her right hand. I tried reaching for the ball again, but as usual, Eno swiftly escaped my plan.
From where she stood, she aimed for the basket. I watched as the ball flew and perfectly went through the basket.
"Whoa," I clapped my hands, as Eno approached me. "You did great, you just succeeded in showing to the people how lame I looked when playing basketball."
"Felix," Eno sighed, then pointed at her teammates. "No one's laughing at you. And do you know why?"
I shook my head. Eno was right, no one was laughing at me.
"That's because, they all know that basketball isn't your thing. Who are they to judge you? Besides, half of the girls on my team, got a massive crush on you."
"And you don't?" I wiggled my brows, as I tried to stop myself from laughing.
Eno who couldn't control herself, laughed out loud. She jogged to retrieve the ball.
"How about I teach you the three pointer." She suggested.
"Eno," I walked towards her. "You've got to take a break like the rest of your teammates."
"You don't know this but," She spun the ball with her index finger. "Telling you what to do, is enough fun break for me."
I laughed a little, "Alright, give me the ball." She handed the ball to me, and directed me to a spot.
"This is called the three point line. And as you can see, it is surrounding the net or basket. Which ever you want to call it. A successful attempt, is awarded with three points." She explained.
I held the ball securely with both hands, as I watched the basket calculating manner.
I lifted my hands above my head, as I set myself to aim for the basket.
"Stop," Eno's voice stopped me from taking any further actions.
I turned to look at her, "What?"
"Are you aiming for the net, or aiming for the ceiling?" Her comments made few players in the basketball's team to laugh out loud. Well, judging by their reactions, I guess I was doing it all wrong.
"Am I supposed to answer that?" I lifted my right brows.
Eno tsked, then shook her head disapprovingly.
"Come on....." She dragged, as she stood beside me. "When aiming for the basket, you place your left fingers below the ball," She got hold of my left hand, and placed it below the ball. We made eye contact in the process. Eno nervously cleared her throat, then continued. "And your right fingers, almost above the ball." She placed my right hand at its original position.
"Next, remember to let the ball be at the same level with you head, before aiming for the basket." She went behind me, and adjusted my elbow. "Now, all you've got to do is focus on the basket. Not me, not Dafe, not my teammates, but the basket."
"What helps you focus on just the basket?" I asked out of curiosity.
"The trophy," Eno chuckled beside me. I turned to give her a nonchalant look.
"And also," Eno surprised me by speaking. "I just normally take in few breaths, and just imagine myself playing the game for fun. Just like what we're doing now."
I looked at Eno, and gave her a sincere smile. Eno surprised me every single day and every time I get to see a new side of her, it made me think if I could go on with the bet.
I took in her advise. I inhaled and exhaled a few times, then concentrated on nothing but the basket.
I lifted my hands and aimed. I watched as the ball flew, then went through the basket.
"Yes!" I yelled as I got hold of Eno and wrapped her tightly in my arms. I just got myself three points.
Eno patted me gently on the back, before whispering. "Congratulations."
Dafe walked over to Eno and I, and patted me on the shoulder. "Let's say you quit running and focus on basketball."
"Not a chance," I chuckled then looked at Eno, who still had her eyes on me. Immediately she realised she was staring, she quickly looked away.
I turned my attention to Dafe, "But that won't stop me from training with a beautiful yet surprisingly shy girl."
