๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐-๐๐๐๐๐
๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ days since the incident at the Cullen house and Liz was slowly losing her damn mind. After arriving home, Liz had to feed Ester and Danny some lame excuse about what happened to her shoulder. She was so out of it that she doesn't even remember what she told them before she locked herself in her room and stared at her phone, hoping Jasper would text her back. He never did.
She hasn't seen or spoken to him since Bella's party. He refuses to answer any of her calls. What's worse is it was the same with the rest of the Cullen's. All of them, not just Jasper, stopped coming to school. All except for Edward.
Edward was her only contact into what was going on with her boyfriend but every time she would confront him, he would tell her the same thing. "Just give him some time." That is all he said. He refused to go into any detail or explain where the others have been. Normally this wouldn't worry her so badly because skipping school for hunting trips or sunny days is normal, but they all just went hunting and it's been raining for a full week.
Liz knew something was definitely wrong when Emmett also refused to text her back. Now, she understands Jasper, he was still beating himself up after what happened. For hurting her. But Emmett? What excuse did he have for ignoring her? He's never once not answered her calls or texts.
A terrible feeling started forming in the pit of her stomach and it has made it nearly impossible for the blonde to sleep at night, thinking nothing but Jasper and if he was okay. What was running through his mind? He has expressed his worry about losing control around her. It was something they talked about to great length. It was the reason Jasper pushed her away when they first met. It is the reason she doesn't force him to kiss her more than he feels comfortable doing. It is what he always warned her about, about not hurting her. At least not on purpose.
This was not intentional. It was an accident. A crazy, freak accident that made Liz want to scream in frustration. She wanted to run to Jasper, tell him that there is nothing to forgive, that it was not his fault and hold him. She wanted to drill it into his brain that she was not mad at him or scared of him. She knew he struggled, he had gone so deep in describing the pain he was in when he first adopted this vegetarian lifestyle. Like a hot iron being shoved down his throat. Just like being a newborn all over again.
Liz could never understand that struggle of restraint. Sure she has her own struggles, but nothing so severe that it could result in multiple casualties.
It had taken everything in her to not go to Cullen's house and force Jasper to talk to her. It has taken everything in her not to yell at Edward, demand he tell her more of what's going on. She can see it on his face. He was so distant. He was there, but he wasn't there. Bella noticed it too and it worried her deeply.
The two girls knew something was deeply wrong today when they both arrived at school, Liz pulling her bike up right back Bella's truck to see Edward nowhere in sight. Bella wanted to wait for him and Liz decided to do the same, hoping to pry more information out of him, but soon the warning bell rang for first period and Edward did not show up.
Liz swallowed the lump in her throat as she suddenly felt sick. "I have a really bad feeling about this."
The two girls turned to look at one another, but Bella did not respond. A part of her knew Liz was right. But what this meant? Neither of the girls had any idea and were not prepared for.
Liz struggled staying awake through most of these classes. She nearly passed out in history, but her teacher kept slamming his hand on her desk to startle her awake and after the third time threatened detention if she did not keep her head up and pay attention.
By the time lunch rolled around, both Bella and Liz were so out of it that their friends started to notice. When Liz showed up in the sling the other day, they freaked out once again, just like they did when she returned after the ordeal with James. Liz told them she dislocated her shoulder trying to catch herself after tripping over her own feet. She knows for a fact that is not what she told Ester and Danny what happened, but she couldn't remember what she told them to tell her friends the same excuse.
School couldn't have taken longer. The fact that Edward was not here today only worsened Liz's mood. Liz met Bella at her truck, Liz grabbing her helmet under her armpit and putting her new glasses on, not caring anymore if anyone saw them. She has yet to wear them in class, but she has other things on her mind than worrying about what the teacher was writing on the board.
"Do you want to come over?" Bella asked, a bit hopeful. Edward not showing up today really made her worry, understanding what Liz has been feeling without Jasper. She did not want to be alone. "We could order pizza and watch that Saw movie you like so much."
"I wish I could." Liz admitted with a reluctant sigh. "Yesterday Liz and Danny talked me into another dinner night at Billy's house. Billy's been begging to have me over again and I sort of felt obligated to go."
Bella tried not to show her disappointment and nodded. "Alright. I'll talk to you tomorrow?"
Liz just nodded before kicking her leg over the bike, took off her sling and tucked it into her bag before putting her helmet on. She honestly doesn't think Carlisle would approve of her method of taking off her sling to ride her bike, but she didn't really care at this point. Her shoulder didn't hurt that bad as it did, she just had to be careful with it.
She really did not want to go to Billy's house. Any other time she would love to visit him, but not today. Not when her boyfriend was not speaking to her and was probably tearing himself apart. Not when she hasn't slept in three days. Not when she had a pulse of pain coming between her eyes every now and then. The lack of sleep was not helping matters either.
By the time Liz got home, she was kind of grateful both Liz and Danny were at work. They get done in an hour, so she had an hour to shower and get ready for dinner. She was hoping maybe she could sneak a nap in there if possible. But once unlocking the front door and stepping past the threshold, that idea was thrown out the window when her phone buzzed in her back pocket. Realizing who had sent her the text sent her heart racing and a huge smile of relief spread on her face. The first smile in days.
Meet me at the firehouse.
Bag abandoned on the ground, Liz ran back out of the house (well, ran being a loose term) and towards her bike. She didn't bother to grab her glasses that she put back in her bag. She tucked her phone into her back pocket and shoved the helmet back on her head. She drove as fast as she could without risking a speeding ticket down the road, in the direction of their meet up place. The place where she found out Jasper was a vampire. The place where they had their first date. The place where they spent most of their summer just talking and enjoying each other's company.
Almost all the worry was washed away after receiving that text, but she wouldn't feel completely satisfied until she saw for herself that he was okay. Until she was in his arms again.
Liz turned down the directed path that led to the old firehouse. The view of the old building was always a welcoming sight, despite the ivy grown around it and the spray paint everywhere. Once Liz reached the front doors, she turned off the bike and threw her helmet off, looking around for any sign of Jasper. The chain he always kept around the doors to keep others out was still wrapped around the door so he wasn't inside and as she looked up, she didn not see her leaning against any of the edges on the roof.
"Jasper?" She called out, looking around confusingly. After a couple seconds, she was about to call out to him again but she felt her hair fly back from a rush of wind and when she turned around, Jasper stood in front of her. Her smile only widened. "Hey."
"Hey." He replied, his expression void of any emotion and his eyes barely meeting her. It took a second for Liz to really notice, but when she did, the smile that danced on her face suddenly fell. He looked like hell. Her heart shattered at the thought of him in pain.
That terrible feeling in her gut came back and was more forceful now. She found herself swallowing hard before taking a step towards him. "I've texted and called you. Why haven't you answered any of them?"
Once again, he avoided looking at her. "I had some things I had to take care of."
Liz took another step towards him until she was standing right before him. She reached out and tried taking his hand but he moved out of her reach. Liz tried to keep a straight face before clearing her throat. "Jazz, I know you must be feeling very angry at yourself. I know you are blaming yourself for the fact that I got hurt but you shouldn't. Okay? It wasn't your fault. I don't blame you and neither does Bella. You didn't mean to hurt me and I understand-"
"I'm leaving Forks." His words cut her off mid-sentence, not having the willpower to listen to her go on.
Liz paused, becoming completely confused and not sure she heard him right. "What?"
He still refused to meet her gaze. "I'm leaving Forks. We all are."
That terrible feeling she has had for days was stronger than ever and Liz found herself wrapping her arms around her stomach tightly, panic suddenly taking over. "W-What do you mean you're leaving Forks? Where are you going? When are you coming back?"
"We are leaving for good. We are never coming back."
His words were a slap in the face. Liz took a second to really hear it and understand what he was telling her and when she did, she immediately shook her head. "No. No, you are not. You're not leaving."
"After today, you will never see me again." Jasper continued on as if she didn't just speak, ignoring her glare and stubborn words. "You will never see my family ever again."
"What are you doing? Why are you doing this?" Liz demanded.
Jasper simply shrugged, still no emotion in his eyes. "It's for the best."
His words were so robotic, like they weren't his own. Liz was trying so hard not to completely freak out but she was losing that fight. "The best for who?" She snapped. "This is bullshit! You are not leaving me."
"I am-"
"No! Damn it, Jasper!" Liz pressed her fingers to her temples and shook her head. "What happened at Bella's party was not your fault."
Jasper's eyes had darkened even more. "If you believe that, Liz, then you are delusional."
His jab only got her angry. He was still not meeting her eyes and she was trying hard not to break down into tears in front of him. Instead, she tried taking deep breaths to control herself and crossed her arms again. "Jasper, you can't just leave when things get hard. We can figure this out, alright? You lost control. It's fine, it happens to the best of us."
"Do not try to compare what I did to something a mundane would do, like punching someone or losing their temper. This is not the same thing, Liz."
"I know. I know it's not the same but Jasper it was one mistake! You can't beat yourself up for this."
"I hurt you!" He suddenly yelled, making Liz flinch from his raised voice. One she has never heard him yell at her like this. "I didn't even think twice about it either. All I knew then is I smelled and saw blood and you were in my way. Like a savage, I wanted nothing else to get to Bella. I wanted to drain her of all her blood and I wasn't going to let anyone get in my way."
"Okay-" She trailed off, her words caught in her throat. What he said scared her. The thought of what would've happened if the other's were there to stop Jasper. She knew he was right, but she refused to let him leave after one mishap. "Okay... I get it. I do. But you didn't do any of that stuff, Jasper. Bella is fine. I am fine. You are trying to push me away. You are trying to convince me that being with you is too dangerous and I won't let you!"
"Yeah, well, this time it's not up to you." Jasper said through gritted teeth. "We are leaving, this is the last time you will ever see me or any member of my family."
His words seemed repetitive, like they weren't his own. Liz's frustration and fear was too overwhelming to truly take notice of it. Fear morphed over everything else. The idea of him leaving her was something she couldn't handle. She couldn't bear it.ย "Jasper, wait. Wait, please! Don't leave me, I don't think I can handle it if you do."
Jasper kept his head down. "You deserve someone who can give you everything you want. A family. A chance to grow old together. You deserve someone that won't put you in danger. You can't have that with me, you know it better than I do."
"Who the hell said I wanted any of that stuff? Who the hell said I wanted a perfect human life?" Liz demanded. Sure, they may never have discussed her being turned, but she sort of thought it was implied when they professed their love for one another. "I want you, Jasper. Only you. You are more than enough for me. I will give up everything for you."
"But you shouldn't have too! You should have a normal relationship, a normal life. I'm only messing that up." His voice raised again.
Liz's own voice matched his. "I don't want normal! I want you!"
"Well I don't want you."
The second crack in the chest. The first being when he said he was leaving Forks. His words were hollow and Liz took in a sharp breath, the cold, damp air filling her lungs. She blinked at him, waiting for him to take back those cruel words. But he never did. And he still refused to meet her gaze.
"Stop it. Don't do that." Her voice cracked but she kept herself together for a little bit longer. She didn't believe him. She refused too. This can't be happening. This can't be happening.
"It's the truth. I don't want you anymore. I'm done with you."
Liz's hands started shaking. She couldn't control it this time, tears fell down the side of her face. It was like she was being beaten up without being punched. She'd prefer being punched then this. Anything but this crushing, suffocating reality that is happening right now.
"Look at me." Wiping the tears that fell down her cheek, her eyes now red and glossy. When Jasper refused, Liz threw her helmet at him and screamed, "I said look at me!"
He let the helmet hit him and it rolled on the ground. After a beat second, Jasper finally forced himself to look at her, his voided golden eyes meeting her blue ones. Liz was full on sobbing now and Jasper wanted nothing more than to die for being the one to do this to her, but he managed to keep his expression blank and his emotions in check.
After a couple seconds, Liz took another long deep breath. "So, that's it? After everything we've been through, after everything..." She choked on her words, more tears falling down her face. "I-I poured my soul out to you. I trusted you with things... things I haven't even told my own damn sister yet."
Jasper still hasn't responded. Liz swallowed again and took another step towards him. He did not step back this time. "Do you remember what you told me the first time you took me to this damn firehouse? You promised me that you would never hurt me, at least not on purpose. Those were your exact words, Jasper. You are breaking that promise right now by doing this. Do you understand that?"
Jasper shook his head. "No, this is how I'm keeping my promise."
"Jasper, you can't make me..." Liz paused, trying to find the right words. "You can't make me fall in love with you and run the minute things get hard."
"This is better for everyone."
"No, this is better for you. You are taking the coward's way out."
"Then I guess I'm a coward." He says in almost a whisper. Then he turned, about to run but Liz couldn't let him. She couldn't lose him. This wasn't right. They were happy. She was finally happy and now everything was falling apart.
"Jasper," she called out and against his better judgment, he paused but did not turn around. "If you leave, don't expect me to wait around for you. If you leave... don't bother coming back. I'll never forgive you."
Nothing else was said as Jasper took off, Liz watching as she fell to her knees and a loud, heart wrenching sob escaped her lips. That was the third and final crack that made her heart shatter completely. Reality was settling in and she couldn't bear it.
"This-This is not happening," Liz mumbled to herself. She can't let him leave. She can't.
Forcing herself up, she races to her bike and doesn't even bother grabbing her helmet she had thrown at him, kick starting the engine and speeding out of there, the roaring of the engine blocking out the hammering of her heart.
She had to stop him. She can't let him leave her. She didn't mean what she said. She'll forgive him. She loves him too much not to. This is his fear forcing him to do this. He is so scared he will hurt her. So much that it has left him to think irrationally. She needs to find him. Convince him somehow. She loves him so damn much. She can't lose him.
The ride from the firehouse to the Cullen's was all a blur. She doesn't even remember how she even got there, but she knows she broke a few laws doing so. But she didn't care. She has to find him. She has to talk to him.
Liz skidded to a stop right in front of the porch steps, throwing down the bike and rushing up the steps. She tried opening the door, but found it locked. The lights were out, no sign that anyone was home. She started banging on the door like a madwoman.
"Jasper!" She called out. She jigged the nob and repeatedly banged on the door. "Jasper! Please, don't go! Jasper!"
Liz moved around the porch, peering in through the window for any movement, but noticed furniture was covered with plastic and panic filled up in her as she moved back to the door and continued banging. "Jasper! Emmett! Carlisle! Esme! Rosalie! Edward! Alice! Please, if any of you are here, please just talk to me."
But no one came. Because they were gone.
They were gone.
Jasper was gone.
That is when it happened. The panic filled her chest and consumed her whole. Her banging seized as she stumbled back, her breathing labored and her shattered heart was racing a mile a minute. The last time she had a panic attack was after the car accident at the school last year.
This... this was much, much worse.

ย ย ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐ Police department was out looking for the two missing teen girls. A search party had scattered the woods, while two police cruisers circled the town in hopes of finding both Bella Swan and Liz Chambers.
When Ester and Danny got home, they were greeted with Liz's bag tossed in the middle of the front door but her motorbike was nowhere to be seen. They were supposed to leave for Billy's as soon as the engaged couple got home, and Liz knew this. At first, the two didn't think much of it, maybe Liz had forgotten something back at school? But when they tried calling her after an hour, it went straight to voicemail.
Again, they tried not to panic and waited another hour before calling again. Then another hour. Then another. Soon, Ester was pacing so back and forth in the living room when it hit eight at night and still not a word. That is when they got a call from Chief Swan, asking if Bella was over at their place with Liz. The news of both girls missing and none of their friends seeing them since school was enough to put gray hairs on their heads.
It only became worse when the Cullen's didn't answer. That is when Charlie put an APB out on both girls immediately and got a search party together. Danny and Ester met Billy and Jacob outside of Chief Swan's residence, as did a few neighbors who gathered to search the area. Charlie sent people to search the woods by the Chambers/Black residence as well. They have come to the conclusion that if they were both missing, they were most likely together.
Maps were laid out on the police cruiser, everyone trying to figure out where the girls could possibly be. The theory was, they both decided to venture into the woods and most likely got lost. But that did not explain Liz's missing motorbike either.
Ester was trying hard not to lose herself to the worst case scenario. She has yet to call her grandmother, not wanting to worry her in case this was all a misunderstanding and they turned up on their own.
But once it reached nine at night, there was still no news of their whereabouts. Danny was doing his best to console his fiance, but he was freaking out as well. He was talking to Jacob who took it upon himself to call Bella's friends again for any update to see if they had heard from the girls after Charlie gave him a list of their numbers. Billy had called in reinforcements of his own, knowing if they were lost in the woods or hurt, they would find them.
Charlie was freaking out, going back to the group over by the cruiser and grabbing his phone again. "I'm gonna try the Cullens' place again."
Billy looked up at his friend. "The Cullens' left town, Charlie."
"What?" Ester asked, looking down at the man in surprise. "When?"
Billy only shrugged. "Not entirely sure when. But I know they are gone for good."
A scoff came from Harry Clearwater. "Good riddance."
A tear escaped Ester's eyes as she hugged herself, while Charlie looked between his two closest friends. "Why?"
Harry stood up and patted him gently on the back. "We'll find her, Charlie. Both of them."
A new police cruiser suddenly pulled up with the lights flashing. The group looked up to see one of the deputies stepping out, Charlie immediately recognizing him to be Spencer Taylor. Without a word, he went towards the back of the cruiser and opened the door. Ester let out a cry of relief when she saw the familiar curls of her baby sister stepping out and rushed towards her, throwing her arms around her shoulders.
Everyone suddenly gathered and the Chief went up to his deputy. "Sorry, Chief. My radio died so I couldn't call it in. I found her walking on the side of the road about two miles out."
"And Bella?" Charlie looked up at him fearfully.
"No sign of her. I've tried asking Liz, but she hasn't said a word since I found her."
Ester pulled back, looking at her younger sister after hearing all this. "Lizzie? Liz, what happened? Where have you been? I've been worried sick."
It took Liz a couple minutes to truly snap out of her state. After having a panic attack so severe it knocked her out, she awoke on Cullen's porch to an emptiness in her chest. It was late, and she was freezing. She was in a bit of shock, so much so that she knew she couldn't drive. She had enough sense not to drive and abandoned her bike and decided to walk home. She made it about a mile before her knee started killing her. She attempted to text Danny or Ester to come get her, but her phone had apparently died.
"Liz," Charlie spoke up, stepping forward so the girl's attention was now on him. "Was Bella with you? Have you seen her?"
Truly aware of her surroundings and the worry in everyone's eyes, she knew she needed to force herself out of this state quickly and respond. Slowly, she shook her head. "No. I... I haven't seen her since school."
"Oh my god," Charlie ran a hand through his hair stressfully.
Jacob then looked over his shoulder where he saw movement coming out of the woods. It took him a second for the figure to step into the lighting, but he recognized Sam Uley immediately, more importantly, who he was carrying.
"Charlie," the sixteen year old boy called out to the Chief. Everyone twirled around and Charlie ran off in a sprint towards the man carrying his daughter.
"She's alright," Sam assured him, gently handing her off to her father.
Liz stood back as a blanket suddenly found itself around her shoulders. Ester turned back to her younger sister and noticed the pain in her blue eyes. She cupped her face and lifted her head up slightly to look at her. "Lizzie, what happened?"
Liz blinked at her sister once... then twice. Her chest tightened and she felt sick, but she could no longer cry as she was completely drained from earlier. After a couple seconds, Liz leans in and rests her head against Ester's shoulder. Ester wrapped her in her arms, Danny and Billy staying by their side and Liz finally found words to say.
"He's gone."

Four hours earlier
๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ at his hands with an empty hollow feeling. Pain. Unbelievable, indescribable pain consumed him. He could not stop thinking about the look on her face. The tears coming down her beautiful skin. The way her voice broke and her breathing became labored.
He couldn't handle it. He felt like simply just dying. He wanted nothing more than for Emmett to tear him to shreds and set the pieces on fire. He didn't want to start a new life. He already found his life and he just broke her heart. He didn't want to leave her. After the party, after seeing that she was injured because of him, he wanted someone to end him. He couldn't live with the thought of hurting her. But it was an accident. He knew it, but it was still his fault.
He lost control. He is a monster and he lost control. He thought he was getting better. He was getting better, because of her. But one drop of blood ruined everything. Ruined all that he had built.
They were in Seattle. They decided to take a plane, as Alice suggested. He was supposed to be at the airport, but he could bring himself to be around anyone. He didn't know where they were going. He didn't care. He didn't care about anything anymore.
Edward found him not too far from the airport hiding deep in the woods. He was almost worse off than Jasper. Almost.
Edward make to stupid decision to stand next to Jasper. Both of them, forced to leave their mates in order to protect them. The others left yesterday once they had everything in order. Everyone was very angry, especially Emmett. But no one was more pissed off than Jasper. And it was directed at one person and one person only.
"It's for the best." Edward said, repeating the same sentence he has said over and over again for the past couple of days. So much so, it was programmed in Jasper's head that he used it towards Liz.
Everything that happened may have been his fault, but the family being forced to leave was no one's fault but Edward's. Jasper stepped away, glaring viciously at his brother in pure hatred. Edward knew it was coming before it came and he didn't stop it. Not as Jasper pulled back and swung at him so hard, Edward flew back from the impact against his jaw and slammed into the tree. He deserved it.
By the time he was back on his feet, Jasper was nowhere in sight. That was the last the two brother's would see or speak to each other for several months.
