𝔦𝔦𝔦. A Feisty Troublemaker

CHAPTER THREE
A FEISTY TROUBLEMAKER
In the year: 1939
THEA was never perfect. She had her flaws as everyone human did, although it might have seemed impossible to society's eyes. Her mother made sure Thea was perfect, she continuously being someone she wasn't.
Thea hated doing it, even if she was surprisingly good at it.
But Thea knew just a little about herself although her mother had her wearing a mask personality since the day she took her first steps.
Thea loved kids. Crazy right? The eldest loving children, but she did.
She loved their baby smell, their tiny hands, chubby legs, everything about them was perfect...innocent.
Before everything went downhill, she was studying everything about children, reading every book she could to learn more so that one day she could be a pediatrician.
One fun fact she learned about newborns, one that intrigues her, was their knowledge of pain.
Since newborn babies are new to the world, that first tiny sensation that is remotely uncomfortable, is considered the worst pain they've ever felt.
Thea felt like a newborn. She was in pain. This is the worst pain she'd ever felt.
Why is she in pain? Why does she feel acid in her skin?
Her eyes snap open and she's immediately greeted by a woman. Thea could feel her warm and caring demeanor and she almost felt safe but the pain was unbearable.
"Who—where am I—what's happening?" Thea moves so quickly on her feet that it doesn't seem human. The dark-haired woman smiled gently and rubbed her shoulder.
"It's alright, sweetheart." The lady's chuckle was so soft and elegant, she seemed like a real-life princess.
Thea's body was shaking, her skin was pale and her bones burned as if they were being seared through. She takes in her surroundings—a brown wooden cabinet, patterned flower walls, and a small bookshelf in the corner of the room.
Thea tries running to the door but her knees buckle and she falls on the warm carpets. The lady gasps, "Take your time— you're in transition."
Thea shakes her head, "Please don't hurt me—I'm a Quarts, just say the number, and the money is yours." She backs away into the corner of the walls, staring up at her.
The lady shakes her head, "I'm not gonna hurt you...I'm Esme...my husband saved you."
Thea had never felt more confused in her life—her eyebrows stitched together. Everything hits her. A baby—she had a baby. "My baby—ah." Thea feels a sharp pain hit her chest and her vision blurs.
Then it immersed her body. Fire—pure flames from hell caused Thea to cry out and before she knew it, she was out.
✸
"This was not a smart thing to do, Carlisle. This girl is a Quarts—you think this town will give up easily on the wealthiest girl in the town?" Thea hears an irritated voice snap.
Esme tilts her head, eyes stern, "Rosalie, please be understanding."
Carlisle shakes his head, his eyes soft on a motionless Thea. "Something happened to her—she didn't die from suicide."
Suicide? Thea thinks.
"Her mother reported that she did. She died from the blood loss." Rosalie crosses her arms.
"I checked." Esme sighs, "There were no cuts nor broken bones on that girl's body—something else happened and I believe her mother had something to do with it."
Carlisle nods in agreement, "didn't you say she mentioned a baby?"
Thea finally snaps her eyes open and when she does—the room becomes silent.
Thea was terrified—she felt...stiff. "Thea? Thea, you're up?" Esme sits on the side of the bed and grabs her hand, that same warm smile on her face.
Thea almost flinched away but the embrace was complacent.
"How are you feeling?" Esme questions.
Thea's lips open—but her words are muted by the dryness in her throat. She cringed at the uncomfortable feeling.
"You need to feed."
Thea shakes her head, "My baby...I need my baby."
Carlisle steps over, standing beside where Esme sat. "Baby? What baby, Thea?"
Thea couldn't find the words—she wanted to cry but weirdly, no tears escaped her eyes.
"Dr. Sinclair knows—she knows where my baby is." Thea smiled in hope, she wanted to see their chubby little face. "Are they at the hospital, is my baby in the hospital."
"Dr. Sinclair—she hasn't come to work in the past two days." Carlisle frowns, "you've seen her?"
And finally, a different emotion rose, she was aggravated and wasn't smiling at Carlisle as she usually did. She jumps at the man, slamming him to the ground with her nails digging into each shoulder, "were you a part of this, did my mother send you to take my child away from me?"
Esme softly caresses Thea's shoulder, "Sweetheart, we swear we don't know what you're talking about—how about you we sit down and we'll help you."
Thea was so angry, she could cry. Her baby should be in her arms but instead, Thea is stuck in this room with strangers and the longer she doesn't see her baby, the angrier she gets.
Carlisle knew he had to be careful with his words, she was a newborn unaware of her strength. "Thea, you know me—you've smiled at me when we've seen each other on the streets. Let me help you."
Those words helped only slightly, Thea had finally blinked out of her angered state and her eyes snapped down to her hands, she couldn't stop wondering how she managed to get him on the ground.
"She's a feisty one. Sick." A broad-bodied-haired boy now stood at the door smiling at Thea.
"Emmett." Esme quietly scolds him, causing him to raise his hands in defense.
"More like a troublemaker." Rosalie rolls her eyes and pushes past Emmett to exit and Emmett is soon to follow.
"Come with me, sweetheart." Esme clasps her hand around Thea's hand and surprisingly, Thea doesn't pull away.
✸
The bright stars stabbed through the void of the sky, Thea was mesmerized by them at the moment. Esme and Carlisle had explained everything to her and Thea also explained her side as well.
Everyone was in the medium-sized living room. Rosalie and her mate Emmett. Carlisle and Esme. And another boy named Edward Cullen, who they'd introduced as the first turned vampire of the family.
Thea was a vampire, she saw it. She saw her crimson eyes in the mirror, her facial features the same yet different, more defined...more perfect.
Esme had placed Thea in a bronze vintage dress that flares down to her knees and simple brown flats. Her hair was simply straight down her black, contrasting perfectly with her now pale skin.
"I need to see my mother...she has my child." Thea pinches at her skin nervously.
Nobody noticed Rosalie's eyes softened on her, "what about the father, what if he has the child?"
Thea scoffed, "he doesn't...plus—he's irrelevant." Thea spoke bitterly about the mystery man.
Esme shared a look with Carlisle.
"Thea," Carlisle sighs, "we think that it's best that you stay away from your family...especially your mother."
Thea squinted angrily, "What you think is none of my concern. My mother is the reason I'm here—she knows where my child is and that's all I want, my child."
"I suggest you don't live in a fantasy," Rosalie comments, "you're a vampire and that child is better off without you."
"Rosalie Hale!" Esme instantly jumped in, her face stone as she glared at an unbothered Rosalie.
"Am I wrong?" Rosalie frowns, "She's a newborn vampire for god sake! She can't have that human life she dreamed of."
Thea would be lying if she said she wasn't intimidated by those words, she didn't want to believe it, she didn't even want to accept a life without her child.
Thea tried not to be angry, but she was. Her baby was gone and a mother without her child was in a dangerous situation.
While Rosalie and Esme disputed back and forth, Thea sped out with her new inhuman speed. Their conversation was quick to stop once they realized she was gone.
Emmett's eyes widen, "where did she go?"
"Home." Edward speaks for the first time, "I read her mind."
The entire family follows Carlisle out of the home, knowing that whatever Thea thought about doing wouldn't end in the way she thought it would.
