/N stepped out of her sleek, black car and surveyed the imposing building before her. The towering structure seemed to stretch endlessly towards the sky, a testament to her success and power. She adjusted her coat and strode confidently towards the entrance, her high heels clicking against the polished marble floor of the lobby. Without breaking stride, she made her way to the elevator, her impatience evident as she tapped her foot rhythmically.

As the elevator doors opened, she entered and pressed the button for the top floor, her eyes fixed on the display as the numbers climbed. The elevator ride was swift and smooth, and she barely noticed the brief pause as it stopped on various floors. Her thoughts were already on her luxurious penthouse, perched high above Seoul, where she shared her space with her best friend, Min Jennie.

When the elevator doors finally opened on the top floor, Y/N didn’t waste a moment. She dashed down the corridor and reached her apartment, her heart pounding with a mixture of anticipation and frustration. As she unlocked the door and stepped inside, a familiar, unpleasant smell hit her nostrils—burnt food. She grimaced and threw her shoes off with a sigh.

“Jen! For God’s sake, I’ve told you not to cook! I don’t want to see the kitchen on fire again!” Y/N called out as she walked further into the apartment, her voice echoing her exasperation.

From the living room, Jennie’s voice floated back. “I was just trying, Y/N. Give me a break!” Jennie flopped onto the couch, looking unbothered by the burnt smell that filled the air.

Y/N shook her head, muttering under her breath as she walked over to the kitchen to inspect the damage. “Trying? You’re no Dar Robinson. One day, I’m going to end up in court, fighting a case against you for setting my house on fire.”

Jennie rolled her eyes as she joined Y/N on the couch, not taking her friend's complaints too seriously. “As if you’d ever take me to court. You love me too much for that.”

Y/N paused at Jennie’s comment, a cold smile curling on her lips. “Love? Are you sure about that, Jen?” Her tone was mocking, her gaze sharp and piercing. The intensity of her stare sent a shiver down Jennie’s spine. Despite her own tough demeanor, Jennie couldn’t ignore the sense of dread that Y/N’s presence invoked.

Jennie, who usually exuded an air of detachment and indifference, found herself feeling an unusual mix of fear and fascination around Y/N. Her own sadistic tendencies were dwarfed by Y/N’s chilling aura. “Forget it,” Jennie said, trying to shake off the unsettling feeling. “I know you’re never gonna admit to anything. Just forget it.”

Y/N’s smirk widened, clearly amused by Jennie’s reaction. “Whatever you say, Jen.”

Jennie grabbed the remote control from the coffee table and flicked on the television. “Let’s see what’s on the news. Maybe something interesting happened today.”

The screen flickered to life, and the news anchor’s voice soon filled the room. “In breaking news, CEO Choi Soobin has been arrested. The investigation has revealed that he was involved in the illegal activities that led to his brother’s death.”

Y/N’s gaze snapped to the television, her eyes narrowing in interest as the broadcast continued. A sinister smile crept across her face when she saw Choi Soobin’s scowling visage on the screen, handcuffed and flanked by police officers. “Well, well, well. Look who’s been caught.”

Jennie’s eyebrows shot up as she turned to Y/N. “Wait! He’s the one who was cursing you on the news this morning, right?”

Y/N chuckled softly, her expression reflecting satisfaction. “Indeed. It seems his day has gotten even worse.”

“The evidence against him is overwhelming,” the news anchor continued. “Not only was he found guilty of torturing his brother to coerce him into signing property papers, but leaked reports confirm that he was also involved in drug trafficking at the party he was celebrating.”

Jennie’s eyes widened in shock as she read the scrolling news highlights. “Damn, that’s some serious stuff. Looks like he’s in deep trouble. Did you have a hand in this, Y/N?”

Y/N leaned back on the couch, crossing her arms with a satisfied smirk. “I may have had a little influence. Let’s just say I’m not one to let a challenge go unanswered.”

Jennie’s grin widened, clearly impressed. “You’re something else, you know that? Always making sure the scales of justice are balanced.”

Y/N shrugged nonchalantly. “It’s all in a day’s work. But let’s not dwell on that. I’ve had enough excitement for one day. How about we order some takeout and unwind?”

Jennie laughed, her earlier tension melting away. “Sounds perfect. I’ll handle the order. You just relax and try not to burn the place down while I’m at it.”

Y/N chuckled, her demeanor softening slightly. “Deal. Just keep the kitchen away from any potential disasters.”

As Jennie picked up her phone to place the order, Y/N sank into the couch, her thoughts already drifting towards the next challenge she would face. Despite her icy exterior, there was a deep satisfaction in knowing that justice was served, and she relished in the control she wielded over her domain.

The two friends settled into their evening routine, the room filled with the sounds of the television and Jennie’s animated chatter about the latest developments. For Y/N, it was a rare moment of relaxation—a brief respite from the relentless demands of her professional life and the constant pursuit of excellence.

____________

Y/N shuffled into her bedroom, the exhaustion of the day weighing heavily on her. She sank into her bed with a tired sigh, feeling the plush softness beneath her. She glanced at the nightstand beside her bed, where a framed photo sat. In the picture, she was grinning widely, her eyes alight with happiness. The man beside her looked at her with an expression of deep adoration.

She used to cherish this photo, a symbol of a time when love felt real and hopeful. But now, as she stared at it, a wave of disgust washed over her. The warmth that once filled her heart had turned to cold bitterness. The love she had yearned for had become a source of deep anguish, and now all she wanted was to obliterate any trace of it from her life.

“There is no peace in my life,” she muttered to herself, her voice laced with frustration. “I used to yearn for love, but now all I want is to destroy it.”

With a groan, she reached for her phone on the nightstand. The screen lit up with a new notification. As she unlocked her phone and swiped to view the message, her eyes widened at the headline.

‘Min Yoongi, the famous business tycoon and the God of the business world, returns to Korea for the first time in 4 years.’

Y/N furrowed her brow, intrigued but not entirely interested. “Min Yoongi?” she murmured, repeating the name as if trying to place it. She had heard of him in passing—rumors of his wealth and influence, but had never paid much attention. “Why should I care?”

She tapped on the notification, opening the article to read more. The text detailed Yoongi’s high-profile return to Korea after years of dominating the international business scene. His achievements were impressive, and his reputation was that of a formidable force in the industry.

“So, he’s back,” Y/N said, her tone indifferent as she skimmed through the article. “Big deal.”

She continued reading about his plans for expanding his business empire and his rumored investments in various sectors. The more she read, the more she realized how much of a significant player Yoongi was in the world she operated in.

“Hmm,” she mused aloud, her curiosity piqued despite herself. “Seems like he’s quite the influential figure. But why should I bother?”

Her phone buzzed again, this time with a message from Jennie. “I see you’re reading about Yoongi. Interested?”

Y/N chuckled bitterly as she typed a reply. “Just came across it. Don’t see why I should care about some businessman making headlines.”

Jennie’s reply came quickly. “You never know. He might be someone worth keeping an eye on. Who knows what opportunities or challenges his return could bring?”

Y/N leaned back against her pillows, the wheels in her mind turning. She had always prided herself on being ahead of the curve, on not letting anyone or anything catch her off guard. Maybe Jennie had a point. If Yoongi was as influential as the article suggested, his return might have ripple effects in the business world—and beyond.

“Well, Jennie,” she said to herself, a small, calculating smile playing on her lips. “Let’s see what this Min Yoongi is all about. Perhaps it’s time to reassess and see if he’s someone I need to know more about.”

She set her phone down and turned off the bedside lamp, the room falling into a soft, shadowy darkness. As she drifted off to sleep, her thoughts lingered on the enigmatic figure of Min Yoongi, and she wondered what role he might play in the complex tapestry of her life and career.

________

Jennie watched with incredulity as Y/N continued eating her breakfast, her calm demeanor contrasting sharply with Jennie’s agitation.

“So, you’re saying you don’t know about Min Yoongi?” Jennie asked, her tone a mix of disbelief and frustration.

Y/N looked up from her plate, nonchalantly twirling a piece of toast. “If I knew, would I be asking? He must be some powerful person if his arrival is making headlines.”

Jennie scoffed, her eyes still glued to the television where Min Yoongi was making waves. “Powerful? He’s the God of the business world. His influence is massive. Just like you control the political landscape, he controls the business realm.”

The television broadcast showed Min Yoongi exiting the airport, his imposing height of 6’1” accentuated as he moved through the crowd. He wore blue jeans and a white shirt, the buttons straining against his chest. His jet-black hair and neatly trimmed beard added to his aura of dominance and danger.

Y/N’s eyes followed the broadcast, her gaze taking in the blurry, but impressive, figure. “He certainly looks the part. Handsome and imposing. No wonder he commands such respect.”

Jennie gestured to the screen, “There! That’s Min Yoongi. You can’t even imagine how deeply rooted the Min family is in both the business world and society.”

Y/N wiped her fingers clean of butter with a napkin, her eyes cold and calculating. “I have a habit of gathering information based on three questions: Their history, their power, and their weakness.”

Jennie, munching on her sandwich, continued with a full mouth, “Min Jungkook, 28 years old. He’s the most talkative of the brothers. A bit of a playboy, good at socializing. He’s often at parties and social events.”

She took another bite before adding, “Min Maria, their mother. Very powerful, strict, and protective, especially of Min Yoongi. Then there’s Min Junghoo, their father. He’s not as harsh as Maria, but he’s dangerous if crossed. He appears sweet but is ruthless when provoked.”

Jennie paused to finish her sandwich, chewing thoughtfully before concluding, “And then Min Yoongi. A man of few words but immense power. It took him months to secure an appointment with him. He managed everything from abroad for four years and values his privacy immensely.”

Y/N set her spoon down with a soft clink and wiped her mouth with a napkin, her gaze piercing as she addressed Jennie. “Let me add one more piece of information. They have a sister named Min Jennie… Am I right, Jen?”

Jennie’s lips curled into a sly smile, knowing her friend had pieced together the connection. “You got me. I didn’t see the point in mentioning it. I figured you’d find out eventually. You always do.”

Y/N’s smirk widened, her eyes gleaming with a devilish light. “You know me too well. It’s impressive how you tried to keep it hidden, but I wasn’t born yesterday. Nothing stays secret from me for long.”

Jennie’s eyes sparkled with mischief. “I had no doubt you’d uncover it sooner or later. It’s one of your many talents.”

Y/N leaned back, her gaze fixed on the television. The broadcast continued to show Min Yoongi’s arrival, but Y/N’s thoughts were already moving beyond the screen. “Interesting. I’ll have to make a note of this. The Min family seems more connected than I anticipated. And now, with Min Yoongi back in Korea, things are bound to get even more intriguing.”

Jennie took a bite of her apple, her expression relaxed. “So, what’s your next move?”

Y/N’s smirk was cold and calculating. “Next? I think it’s time to learn more about this ‘God of the business world.’ If he’s as influential as they say, he might just play a significant role in the chess game that is my life.”

Jennie laughed softly. “I knew you’d find a way to make this interesting. It’s one of the reasons I love having you as a friend.”

Y/N’s eyes remained fixed on the television, a dark glint in her gaze. “Well, Jen, you’ve always known I have a knack for turning even the mundane into something… eventful.”

As the news segment shifted to a commercial, Y/N’s mind continued to churn, already strategizing her next steps.
