PROLOGUE
( the girl who learns what love truly is )

EVER SINCE EILEEN PRINCE TAUGHT THE TWINS MAGIC it had made them realise they were special, that they were different than their neighbours who were muggles. As Eileen Prince taught them how to control their accidental magic they didn't know that it was going to be the death of them.

Tobias Snape, a muggle Eileen had married and had children with was against it. He started abusing his wife and the twins, he called them freaks and that freaks were not aloud to live as if they were higher than himself. The abuse went on and on until one day Eileen had committed suicide not wanting to face anymore of this torment, leaving her children behind with him.

The abuse went on for years, but one fateful day aloud the twins to escape for the day after, Tobias was unconscious on the floor with beer bottles around him. They had found a tree that they soon called their safe place.

One day they had heard yelling and went to go investigate both of them found a red-haired girl their age getting yelled it. The other girl was calling her a freak, both of twins looked at each other before nodding to step in, it caused both girls to turn.

Severus had shown a little bit of magic to the girl, he made sure she knew that there was nothing to be afraid of that she was just like them. The other girl soon ran away.

"I'm Severus and this is my twin, Ophelia." He introduces himself and his sister who smiles at her.

"I'm Lily, Lily Evans." She shares the same kindness that the twins had shown her.

The three of them became a trio after that eventful day, hanging out, showing off small bits of magic, role playing as princesses and knights, having small picnics. There was laughter, smiles and moments when they wished that it could stay like this forever, but it was not to be.

Eventually the twins turned twelve and received their Hogwarts letter. They were both really excited and happy that they were leaving and not spending another year with their so called father. Later on, the twins were ecstatic that they were going with Lily and that they were going to get their stuff in Diagona Alley together.

They all waved goodbye to the Evan family as the train started. The three of them were talking and having a good time until four boys asked if they could share a compartment since the rest were full. The tall one known in the future was called Remus Lupin, he sat next to Ophelia who was sitting closely to Severus. The other three were across from them, the one with Glasses was sitting next to Lily, the one who called himself Sirius Black was seated next to him and then the one who was eating a bar of chocolate sat next to him. Everything was great until they started talking about houses and how evil this one house was called. Ophelia noticed Severus pale when Slytherin was mentioned, she knew their mother was a Slytherin. The girl had snapped at the Black Heir for attacking her brother and then they were both accused of being evil, that they both looked Slytherin.

Once they were in the castle everyone had their names called, Lily was of course put into Gryffindor with the other four boys. Severus was devastated when that hat yelled Slytherin, Ophelia smiled hoping to stick with her brother. She walked up the stares feeling eyes on her from all the other tables, she sat tall and looked straight on with a small smile on her face.

"Another Snape. Eileen was such a great girl who thrived at the school, she must be really lucky to have you and your brother who are exactly like her. You have ambitions, bravery and courage, plenty of that. But you are also cunning. I would say Ravenclaw, but you are being very determined to be Slytherin, I've never asked this before, but what do you want, you're path is up to you. Ravenclaw or Slytherin?"

Everyone stares at the girl on stage wondering what is taking so long, there was worry bedded on the Professors, Lily and Severus' face when they realised something was going on.

"I want to be with my brother, he needs me, you can't separate us." She thought to that that was reading her mind.

"SLYTHERIN!"

From the moment the hat put her with her brother, she hadn't known what was yet to come. This is the beginning of Ophelia Snape's story.
