"JAMES YOU SAW HOW MISERABLE SHE LOOKED, SHE'S NOT LIKE THE REST OF THEM." Lily explains to James. He seemed to be agreeing with her, they had watched her during the sorting and kept their gazes on her as she didn't eat just stared off into space. Ophelia had intrigued both of them, they hadn't noticed her before, but ever since the train and the fight she had gotten into, they had started to see something different in one of the Slytherin's.
They could see she was nothing like her brother, nothing like they had ever seen before. She was beautiful, her brown silky hair that was parted past her shoulders and her brown pools that showed little emotion. She was like a little doll, one that was made out of glass sitting on a shelf. They could see that she had been through so much and had her own little secrets that she kept to herself.
"Well, what should we do, Lily-flower?" James asks watching his girlfriend paces back and forth in their common room.
"Help her? Try and befriend her?" She looks at him, "she wasn't like this when I knew her, yes she was quiet, but she was really great company."
"We'll try tomorrow, we have charms with her and other subjects. M'gonna go get Remus, Sirius and Peter to tell them what we're gonna do." He said standing up and kissing her forehead.
"Come back quickly okay? I wanna cuddle some more." She pouts, James chuckles walking off to go find his friends.
"I always did tell you that you'd fall for my charm." He winks as he leaves the head-student quarters and went to get his marauders.
He ended up finding them waiting for him in one of the corridors, he grins as the four of them hid in an empty classroom and started to tell them everything that he and Lily had talked about.
"Wait, Snivellus' sister, Prongs?" Sirius gave a disgusted look at the mention of the snake's nickname.
"Yeah, Lily's worried; which means this is important." All four of them sat around on the desks, while James was leaning against one of the walls to listen out for a teacher.
"Didn't you see her on the train? Or when she started that fight with Malfoy? And what she said about those tattoos? She might need help," Remus trails off as he stares up at the dark ceiling that was covered in little cobwebs.
At his words the other three were silent, she wasn't the firecracker that they usually get, this time was different, she was darker than normal, almost as if she had went through hell and back. Her eyes had dark bags, she was pale, she was too frail and skinny and her posture wasn't her pride, aim to please one. No, this one was more slouched over, she looked as though she were about to kill over.
"She's obviously different to any of those slimy snakes," Peter said the others agreeing with him and nodding along.
"I think we should look out for her, and try and get a smile on her face." James said smirking, "let's make that our new mission, try and get her to smile and show her emotions?"
"Awesome idea, Prongs!" Sirius laughs, "let's start tomorrow."
All four boys were making this their mission, they began to get over go under James' cloak and headed back to their common room while James walks back to the head-student quarters, he whispers the password before entering back into he and Lily's shared room.
The next day during charms James and Lily tried to talk to her, however she'd just glance their way and then turn back to the Professor. Then during her next class she was getting distracted by all four boys who were trying to get her to show some expression. They had also pushed open doors for her and even helped her gather her things as well as pull out her chair for her, she thanked them, but did not show anything.
Her eyes met both periwinkle and emerald eyes, as they were partnered up together in herbology, Lily would smile at her and gave her some advice on how to do it an easier way, this actually caused the girl to thank her. James noticed she was kind of like her brother, she didn't like help and she didn't like working in partners whenever it came to projects.
She ended up doing a miracle causing them to finish successfully, "Mr. Potter, Miss. Evans and Miss. Snape, you have earned 10 points for both houses each." The teacher booms out joyfully, letting them leave earlier than the other classmates.
The three of them were walking to the great hall, Ophelia of course lagged behind, she didn't feel like being the third wheel, the burden of this short journey.
"Thanks for helping us back there, Princess." The Gryffindor boy says winking at her, while Lily grabs her hand for her to catch up.
"That was great, poppet! You truly are an amazing wizard." Lily gushes. The other girl couldn't help but keep her stare on them, her cheeks had a slight flush added to them.
"Sit with us for a while?" The redhead asks as her hands trailed over the pattern on the Slytherin's wrist.
"I don't think I should." Her voice was deep and filled with hesitation, she wanted to sit with them and make friends, but they were her brother's enemy's, her enemy's? They would just get rid of her in the end.
"Nonsense, doll, we'd be happy for you to join us." James said giving her a real smile, not a smirk and not a sinister grin that he gave her brother, it was a smile, a friendly smile.
She shook her head, she couldn't let them lure her in, and then throw her away in the end. She knew this would end badly but she let them lead her anyway, and let them guide her.
Her gaze shifted to both of them watching as both showed her kindness and offered her smiles. They would talk a little getting some kind of conversation from her. She couldn't believe it herself when she felt some sort of emotion for both of them.
