AS SOON AS THE COUPLE SAT OPHELIA DOWN AT THEIR TABLE SOME MURMURS BROKE out, the girl watched as her house looked on at her in disgust, she was really lucky that Severus wasn't here. But she heard James and Lily talking to their housemates who quietened down, but simply glared at her warily, other tables looked on in curiosity. She was forced to sit next to James while the redhead sat across from them, she sat tense, and played with her robe sleeve.
She felt so out of place and kept her eyes on the table. She looked up at Lily who was staring at her with a smile, "you should eat something, poppet. You're a bag of bones." She said trying to lighten the mood, Ophelia squirms.
"D'you think you can eat for us?" James asks offering a kind smile, it wasn't one of his smirks or him being cocky it was literally a real smile. Ophelia nods her head, she felt compelled to do what they asked, it was as if they really cared for her, as if they could set her free from her demons.
Lily passes some food for James, herself and the small Slytherin sitting next to them. James and Lily were trying to start a small conversation and all they really got was a couple of words and a nod.
Ophelia couldn't help but feel wanted for once, she was lured in by their kindness, but what if something bad happens, and they turn on her? She'd be alone all over again, she couldn't risk it.
She suddenly stood up and offered a small smile that was familiar to everyone, "thanks for lunch and for letting me sit with you. But I really must get going." Both of them stare at her sadly, then turned to stare at each other.
"We can walk you to your common room if you'd like?" Lily offered. The girl shook her head and thanked them with a nod before walking away from the table that cleared itself up.
Later that night, Ophelia was looking out of the dorm room window, thinking about the redhead and the boy who bullied her brother. They both were so kind to her and involved her in things even though she wasn't sure about it. Her brother nor really anyone has ever done that before, she was always a little hesitant, but the two really made her feel welcomed. They didn't treat her like a monster from Slytherin, or talked about her behind her back thinking she couldn't hear. They made her feel comfortable and then she pushed them away again, she only did that because they didn't need to be hanging around someone as broken as she was, she would just be a burden and seriously couldn't let people waste their time on her.
Sure, she loved her brother, but at times he to treated her like garbage. It was like she was the Slytherin that nobody wanted, she was a loner, she always stayed out of trouble, out of people's ways.
Well, some. Hagrid, the one who had all the magical creatures welcomed her in. She loved helping him take care of the animals, loved having tea and getting to know the kind man who didn't judge her for being a Slytherin.
Some Slytherin's either ignored her or picked on her, nobody knew what that hat was thinking, why place her in with them? Why not Hufflepuff or something else? Their views on the older Snape, was that she was way too much of a softy, that she never did anything to achieve honour to their house, and sometime asked Slughorn to ask Dumbledoor to kick her out.
It really did get Ophelia thinking, the hat also said Ravenclaw, maybe she should've taken it. But that would be way too selfish, her brother needed her up until now, now she's realised that he has support from his housemates, but what did she have? Nothing. Completely nothing, because she pushes them all away.
Glancing out up at the full moon that leaned over the castle, Ophelia wondered what it would be like to be a star, always shining brightly, twinkling in the dark sky; surrounded by other, being loved by many, but she knew that wouldn't happen to her. She was more of a falling star, the ones that get kicked out of the sky. She knew she wasn't good enough, she didn't need everyone to tell her, she knew she was a waste of space, again no need to tell her because she's decided this on her own.
She was snapped out of her depressing thought and self-hatred when a really loud eerie howl bounced off the castle walls from outside. She glanced up, that's right...it was a full moon, so it's not just any dog or wolf, this was an actual werewolf. But at Hogwarts? Maybe Dumbledoor was keeping a werewolf student at the school, and to be honest, she didn't care, that's pretty cool of him.
The older Snape silently walked back to her bed and drew her curtains, she closed her eyes and thought back to earlier. Why were they so nice? What did they want from her?

this was really sad to write...but then I enjoyed the moment between she, Lily and James. I'm so overall it was good!
Someone asked me to explain how Ophelia's tattoo represents her. Well: to me roses are like both beautiful, sadness and sorrow, and they're just the perfect way to describe Ophelia. Ophelia is attached to her brother quite often, but she can't see that he talks behind her back, or that he's just using her. So yes, don't worry she won't always be this depressed character, she gets better with the help of James, Lily and the rest of the marauders!
I really, really appreciate it! This book is gonna be my first ever 18+ mature book, so, I'm sorry if it isn't that great!
I also got this crazy plot twist idea: imagine if Ophelia accidentally tracked to the future to find out that Lily and James are dead and that all three of them have a son.
thanks for reading!
