i don't usually like to come up here and speak on my personal issues and such just cause it's my opinion, but i feel that as a african-american author of wattpad who uses POC's in majority of my stories, i get the right to voice how i feel. i've been seeing what's going on in the world and i'm not happy about, this isn't the first time it's happened and it most definitely won't be the last. i've been paying close attention to the silent people around me and i just want to voice how i feel about the whole situation.
black people have been looked down upon for YEARS and we are getting to the breaking point where we've had enough. you can't expect a person to keep taking shit from someone for years and not expect them to speak up and tell you they've had enough. white people have felt the right to terrorize our race to feel "superior" and keep up this so called "high status" that they think they have. the sad thing is that america is based upon racism and inequality, what needs to be fixed needs to be fixed for the future generations to come. i've even seen people talk about how all this rioting and protests are over one person, talk that came from someone who is tone-deaf and close-minded. we are only acting this way because we are FED UP with what's happening in the world right now.
i'm not saying that everyone needs to listen to what i'm saying, but know this: your silence is falling in line, your silence is showing that you're the oppressor, your silence shows that racism wins, your silence keeps us from moving forward.
i personally don't see race, but i know racism exists and i know it's in some people's hearts, and i find it both sickening and sad that people are so contempt with believing that black people don't matter. ever. i will NEVER raise my children to see race, and i know that's something you hear a lot of people say it, but i mean this. you don't raise a child to think they are better than someone who has just as much of a right as you do to think they can be better just because of their skin color, when you set that mindset into a child at a young age, the results are what america is right now and it's been destroying us since before black people came to america.
i'm only one person, but i hope that everyone can come together and change what you see in society now. you don't have to go out and protest in the streets to let your voice be heard, but you do have to stop the silence.
