JADE watched as her friend seemed to be in her own world. "Lillian, did you even hear a word I said?" She asked her as she waved her waved in front of Lillian's face to pull her back into reality.
Lillian nodded, "Yeah, yeah." She waved her off as she glanced over at Peter with Ned at their usual lunch table they sit at. "Do you think Peter is hiding something?"
Jade rolled her eyes as she knew Lillian did not in fact hear what she was saying. "Other than the obvious that he has a crush on Liz? No." She stated.
"I think he's hiding something." Lillian mumbled, her gaze focused on Peter.
Jade sighed in annoyance, "Lilly, leave the guy alone. He's not hiding anything."
Lillian shook her head, facing Jade, "No. I'm telling you, there's something off about him."
Jade shook her head, "No."
Lillian furrowed her eyebrows, "What do you mean, 'no'?"
"You're not going all Nancy Drew on me." Jade shook her head once again, before leaning closer to Lillian so no one could hear their conversation. "The last time we went Nancy Drew, I got grounded- actually, no. We both got grounded for a whole summer because you thought my neighbor was selling drugs." She reminded. "So, no." She told her best friend, giving her a stern look.
"It wasn't that bad and in my defense he looked suspicious." Lillian chuckled softly.
"It was very bad, Lillian. He was just minding his business in his garden." Jade deadpanned. "Just don't do whatever plan it is that your brain is coming up with right now."
"I won't." Lillian promised.
"Hey, can I talk to you?" Lillian turned around to see Elijah, her cheeks growing pink.
Lillian nodded hesitantly, "Y-Yeah."
"I'm gonna go and help set up." Jade said giving a little wink to Lillian as Lillian gave her a pleading look to stay with her.
Elijah motioned Lillian to follow her as Jade went her separate way. Lillian sighed, but followed Elijah out in the hallway nonetheless.
"Uh, w-what's up?" Lillian asked as she took a deep breath, crossing her arms.
"You kinda left me hanging last night." He told her as he scratched the back of his neck nervously.
"Sorry about that." She gave him an apologetic smile, "I wasn't feeling all that great." She said truthfully.
"It's okay." He smiled, "No worries." He said softly as he cleared his throat. "So, about homecoming?" He asked nervously.
She looked up at him, pursing her lips in deep thought, "I'll go with you." She smiled lightly.
His eyes widened taken aback, "That's great." He smiled, trying to hide his nervous state. "I'll uh, I'll text you later."
She looked at in confusion, "You don't- You don't have my number." She said her head tilting slightly as she eyed him cautiously with a soft smile.
He shrugged, "I have my ways." He smirked as he started walking away.
"How?"
"I'll text you later, Hayes." He shouted, throwing her a peace sign as he left her in slight shock.
Lillian scoffed lightly as she shook her head and went the opposite direction only to bump into Ned. "Oh, sorry."
"It's okay." He smiled. "We, uh," He cleared his throat as he looked behind Lillian for someone, "need to talk." He whispered.
"O-Okay? Um, what about?" She asked, crossing her arms.
"D-Do you like Peter?" He asked watching her reaction carefully.
She opened her mouth to say something, but closed it as soon as she heard running foot steps coming their way.
"Ned! Ned, we gotta go." Peter rushed as he motioned Ned to follow after him.
"Where?" Ned asked confusion crossing his face as Peter stopped in his tracks.
Peter was about to speak up, then realized Lillian beside Ned. "Um, h-hey." He said, smiling softly.
Ned looked over at Peter and then over at Lillian as she nodded, "Hey." She said nonchalantly. She sighed, looking at Ned, "I don't know." She answered his previous question before Peter showed up. "Bye, Ned." She said leaving the both of them in confusion as Peter looked over at Ned for answers.
As the bell rang, Lillian walked into the classroom where the decathlon practice was being held, making a beeline to the table Michelle was sitting at. "I've got a problem." She mumbled toward Michelle who placed her book down.
"What's up this time?" Michelle asked turning her body toward Lillian, giving her her full attention.
"I got asked out by this really nice guy, Eli-"
"Garrick?" Michelle questioned, her eyebrows furrowed.
Lillian nodded, "Yeah... then I bumped into Ned and then he asked me if I like Peter." She mumbled, putting her head in the palm of her hands.
"Do you? Y'know, like Peter?" Michelle asked already knowing her answer.
Lillian sighed, "I wanna say yes, but I don't know anymore. He has a crush on Liz, y'know." She groans, crossing her arms against the table as she rested her head on her arms. "Maybe I should just move on from this whole thing." She said looking at Michelle for some answers.
"Does Jade know about this?"
"Partially. I mean she practically set me up with Elijah for homecoming." Lillian said as she shook her head.
"Maybe you should give Elijah a chance," Michelle sighed, "Peter is hung up on Liz, so might as well." She shrugged.
"I guess," Lillian pouted as she rested her head on Michelle's shoulder.
"Are you going to tell Jade about the whole Peter thing?" Michelle asked.
Lillian shook her head lightly, "No, because there never was a 'Peter thing' to begin with." She mumbled as she sighed letting her thoughts sink in.
