[I wanna tell u] - [Lexie liu]
A week later, Jay is back to continue his session with Sora. She honestly didn't have that much time probing his case since she was quite busy with the others, the few ones that will soon be over since they're getting a lot better than when they first met her, especially dani.
And by then, she thought, she'd have all the time in the world to focus only on him.
If Jay chooses to stay, that is.
"Mr. Park, you're back," she said, arranging her desk and closing a document on her computer before giving Jay her undivided attention.
"What did we talk about last time?" Of course, she remembers; she does have quite a good memory, albeit at times she wishes she doesn't, since there are certain things that are better off forgotten and never remembered ever again.
"I don't know, why don't you enlighten me, Doctor?"
It wouldn't take a genius to hear that sarcasm dripping in his tone. Not to mention the emphasis on the word doctor when he called her that for the first time.
"Please don't call me that. An honorific would suffice."
Jay didn't say anything; she thought she almost caught him discreetly rolling his eyes when he averted them from her.
"Last time, you mentioned the head and tails game. And I did ask you about your childhood, but you don't have to tell me about it now. There's always a next time."
"What if there isn't?" Jay asked, looking back at her. "What if I stop showing up next time?"
"Then would you like to tell me now?"
"Only if you're good at keeping secrets."
"If I tell you, it would be a secret. And it's a secret that only the two of us will know about."
On another occasion, another scenario, perhaps in an alternate universe or in another life, if he were to say that to Sora, it might have sounded romantic. Like a man willing to share his darkest secret with his lover.
But the way Jay said that just now, without an ounce of passion whatsoever, sounded more like a threat than anything else.
"A secret? I'm good at keeping secrets."
"Everyone who spill secrets always say that," jay said, followed by a sarcastic scoff.
"We are taught to keep our client's deepest secret. And we are taught to never get attach to them."
"Attachment?" jay asked, his voice not more than above a whisper.
"Attachment is something foreign to us, to me in particular. I promised never to get attached to my clients. Think of it this way," she started, leaning forward as she looked at Jay. "This clinic is like an enchanted room; everything you say, the secrets we will share, will stay in this room. And once we go out, the secrets will stay here."
And since she never gets attached to any patients, she has learned to set aside the things they have shared with her once they were done with their sessions. It's like putting the files in a box and putting that box on a shelf that would eventually be forgotten over time.
And perhaps Jay was almost tempted to tell her. Almost, when she said attachment is foreign to her. He doesn't really need someone who uses attachment to get him to tell them his secrets.
"You know what they say, Mr. Park," she leaned back on her chair, hands clasped together. "Two can keep a secret."
"If one of them is dead, Sora."
"Then are you planning to kill me?"
It's not her he's planning to kill, it's himself. But then again, Jay chose not to tell her, not today or tomorrow or next week. But eventually, he thought, he might feel the want to tell her his darkest secrets.
