1.1 | United States of Auradon

──────────❝ 🍎 ❞──────────

Once upon a time, there were many, many different kingdoms based on the fairytales that commoners heard everyday. Twenty years ago, Belle married her Beast in front of six thousand of their closest friends ─ yes, Beauty and The Beast. And instead of a honeymoon, King Adam united all of the fairytale kingdoms and got himself elected King of the United States of Auradon. He and his best friend, David Nolan rounded up all of the villians and their sidekicks and sent them off to the Isle of the Lost with a magical barrier to keep them there with no magic, no connection to the outside world and nothing but poverty; punishing even those who did nothing wrong.

Then Auradon Prep was renovated and invites sent out to all of the Kingdoms when their children were young. And so, the new era of their legacy began and slowly, magic in the land faded to a dormant state ─ rare and beautiful. One of the families that received an invite was ─ as mentioned earlier ─ David Nolan and his wife, Snow White. The story of Snow White and the seven Dwarves was well known however, there were two versions that spread through the lands. One inaccurately told of Snow never knowing Prince David until the day he came across her and kissed her sleeping figure. While the truth was that Snow had met Prince David before she was casted into a poisoned sleep.

Snow and David had two gorgeous girls a single year apart. Their eldest daughter destined for the throne of their small Kingdom was Melanie Nolan ─ mostly known as Lanie ─ who was a lot like her father. And their youngest daughter was Eloise Nolan ─ mostly known as Ellie ─ who was as gentle and kind as her mother. And that is who this story is about, well... she definitely plays a big part in the story. You see, Eloise has three important best friends. Jane, the daughter of Fairy Godmother who was a shy, insecure girl with beauty far beyond what she saw. Doug, the son of Dopey Dwarf who was an intellectual, kind boy with a heart of gold and talent with most musical instruments.

And finally, Ben, the son of Queen Belle and King Adam. Ben is almost sixteen which means it is time for his Coronation, he would be stepping up as the next King of Auradon. Due to David and Adam's friendship, this meant that Ben and Eloise had grown up together and so, Eloise had agreed to be one of Ben's royal advisors. So this meant that Ben would go to Eloise for advice and one of those moments is what lead to the biggest change in all of their lives. Neither Ben nor Eloise was prepared for how much their lives would change with a simple Proclamation; Bring four Villain Kids to Auradon as a trial to give them a chance to prove and earn their place. And that, is where this story begins...

Prince Ben stood on a small platform with his body rigid while the royal tailor measured him for his Coronation suit. While Ben's focus was out the balcony window watching the distant Isle of the Last surrounded by its gloomy barrier, Princess Eloise sat on the couch reading a book that had been given to her by Queen Belle; a tale of a female warrior saving her Kingdom from ferocious beasts while falling in love with the most unexpected character. The two teenagers were startled when King Adam's voice bellowed through the small royal study, "How is it possible that you're gonna be crowned King next month? You're just a baby!" Eloise smiled softly at those words, she turned to smirk at Ben who rolled his eyes playfully.

"He's turning sixteen, dear," Queen Belle reminded her husband before she winked at Eloise after spotting the book. "Hey, Pops," Ben greeted his father. "Sixteen? That's far too young to be crowned King. I didn't make a good decision until I was at least forty-two!" King Adam informed them all making Eloise bit back a laugh as Queen Belle looked at him offended. "Uh, you decided to marry me at twenty-eight," Queen Belle remarked making King Adam smirk before looking to the two teenagers, "Ah, it was either you or the teapot." The two teens chuckled at his words but King Adam noticed the slight glare on his wife's face and quickly cleared his throat, "Kidding."

"Mom, Dad..." Ben went to step forward but the tailor stopped him, Ben looked at Eloise and the two shared a nod; Eloise prepared for the worst as she closed her book and stood from the couch to back Ben up. "I've chosen my first Offical Proclamation with Ellie's help," Ben tells his parents, the two share an impressed look for his quick initiative and eagerness to do his part as the King of Auradon. "We've decided that the children on the Isle of the Lost be given a chance... to live here in Auradon," Ben continued, shocking King Adam and Queen Belle with his words. Eloise anxiously began braiding her hair, an action to distract herself from cleaning ─ her usual calming method when stressed or anxious.

"Every time I look out to the island, I feel like they've been abandoned," Ben added in hopes to convince his parents. "The children of our sworn enemies... living among us?!" Kind Adam shouted causing Eloise to shrink slightly, she didn't like shouting. "We start out with a few at first... only the ones who need our help the most," Ben replied to his father confidently while placing his hand reassuringly on Eloise's back as he continued, "I've already chosen them." Eloise was stunned by that part, she had made suggestions but Ben had been stuck on who to choose in the end; she left him with that but had no idea he made his final decision. "Have you?" King Adam asked with narrowed eyes.

"I gave you a second chance," Queen Belle reminded her husband, her soft words eased Eloise's anxious state. "Who are their parents?" Queen Belle asked them. "Cruella De Vil..." Ben said first, Eloise could recall the existence form about the son of Cruella and he sounded... sweet. "Jafar..." Ben continued with a slight breath, so far his parents hadn't gotten angry. "Evil Queen..." Ben glanced at Eloise when he mentioned the woman that poisoned her mother purely out of insecure spite. Eloise had suggested Evil Queen so she wasn't too shocked to hear that he chose her daughter. "And Maleficent," Ben finished off, shocking everyone else in the room including Eloise who looked at him like he was too brave.

The royal tailor was quick to leave the room, he knew better than to listen further nor did he wish too. "Maleficent!? She is the worst villain in the land!" King Adam growled. Ben was quick to notice Eloise's slight jump, he grabbed her hand in his own and brushed his thumb across the back of her hand in hopes to ease her. "Dad, just hear me out!" Ben pleaded with his father who shook his head. "I won't hear of it. They are guilty of unspeakable crimes!" King Adam remarked. "Dad, their children are innocent," Ben exclaimed, "Don't you think they deserve a shot at a normal life? Dad?" King Adam was silent as he processed his son's words, "I suppose their children are innocent."

Eloise and Ben both smiled brightly hearing the Kings response. King Adam turned to walk out of the room while Queen Belle turned to the two teens, "Well, Well done." She and her husband left the two teenagers to themselves, Ben let out a shaky breath while Eloise smiled up at him. "Proud of you, Bennyboo," Eloise said with a teasing tone making him roll his eyes. "Thanks, Ellie-Bear," Ben replied making Eloise cringe at the nickname that Audrey had given her. Audrey was the daughter of Aurora ─ also known as Sleeping Beauty ─ and Audrey was dating Ben. While Eloise was sure there was a time that both genuinely had feelings for one another, that time ended in their teen years where the throne became the goal.

Ben lead Eloise out to the balcony, both of the leaned on the railing and looked out to the island out at sea. Ben had a longing for the isle, he couldn't understand why he seemed to be pulled towards the island at every moment but he was eager to find out. While Eloise, she always wondered what the isle was like and just how bad it truly was; she wanted to help them and give them a chance that their parents had taken from them. But like Ben, something on the Isle of the Lost seemed to catch her attention; like a siren luring in a sailor to sea. Or a low whistle that only a dog could hear. Either way, both teenagers were certain that they'd get there answers but for now, they had to prepare for the arrival of the VKs.

──────────❝ 🍎 ❞──────────

Eloise worked with Jane and Doug's help to prep everything for the VKs while Ben wrote the letters and sent them to the Isle inviting the four VKs to come along to attend Auradon Prep. "Which dorms will they be staying in again?" Eloise asked Doug with furrowed brows. "Why?" Jane questioned the brunette. "Because I strongly doubt that the girls will care for pink rooms so I was going to remove the princess look allowing them to make the space their own," Eloise answered her before forming, "Or do you think that's too much?" Jane and Doug shared a smile at Eloise's kindness and desire to make the VKs feel more welcome. "It's a great idea," Doug assured her as he pushed the paper with the dorm numbers towards her.

The door to the study opened to reveal Ben, Audrey and Chad Charming, son of Cinderella and Prince Charming. "How's everything coming along?" Ben asked the three as he placed down a clipboard in front of Eloise, she took it and looked at it with a small smile; she had requested that she got as many classes with the VKs as possible to help them settle in by having a familiar face around. "We're almost done," Eloise replied to him softly ignoring the smirk that Chad was sending her way; he couldn't have Audrey so he set his sights on Eloise with the encouragement of his parents. "Good. They've received the invites and accepted them," Ben told Eloise who beamed up at him before checking the time. "Oh! I told Ally and Lonnie that I'd meet them," Eloise jumped up and rushed out.

Ally Kingsley was the daughter of Alice who had many adventures in Wonderland and Lonnie was the daughter of Mulan. Both girls had volunteered to help Eloise renovate the room for the VKs along with Melody, daughter of Ariel and Eric. "Sorry for running late girls," Eloise told them with her soft spoken tone they were all so used to hearing. "It's fine, girl," Melody assured her before Lonnie added, "We just got here anyway cause Ally had to force Tommy-Dee and Timmy-Dum to help carry things for us." Eloise giggled at that, the two were the sons of Tweedledee and Tweedledum. "That sounds about right," Eloise told them before clearing her throat, "Okay, lets de-princess-ify this room." The others laughed before following her inside.

By the time they were done, the room was bare aside from the gift baskets that sat on both beds. Eloise had read the files that the school on the Isle sent along with the forms that were filled out about them, she had learned some things about both girls and used that to design the gift baskets for both girls respectively. Eloise brushed off her yellow skirt and fixed her blue button-up before nodding to herself happy with how the room looked, it allowed them to make it completely their own. "Now... to drop those off to the boys' room," Eloise whispered to herself, she frown realising that she had no help to carry them which either meant two trips or... she reached up to the pendant around her neck and closed her eyes.

"Power so sweet, apples I keep... allow me to carry what seems too heavy," Eloise whispered as a chant, she opened her eyes and they momentarily flashed rose gold before she rolled her shoulders and picked up both handles in either hand; neither basket was heavy thanks to the magic. Eloise left the gift basket and their notes on the two beds in the boys' dorm, she smiled to herself before leaving the room and locking the door. As Eloise made her way to her room that she had to herself, she couldn't help but ponder just what may change with the VKs around. She knew the students of Auradon would be hesitant about the VKs but something tells Eloise that everything will turn out the way its supposed to.

Rosemary Speaks. . .

How do we feel about this chapter?

What do y'all think about Eloise?
She's soft spoken and kind.

I'm kind of excited to write Eloise and Carlos, they're so sweet and adorable!

Also, yes... Eloise will have mild anxiety which results in her either cleaning manically or braiding hair like mad. She also doesn't really like shouting (#relatable)... and she wears dresses and skirts, get over it. lol

Thoughts, Suggestions or Questions?

See you in the next chapter!
