2.15 | Saturn Grimoire

With the moonstone in her possession, Cordelia had happily joined Rose and Trevor for lunch at the Salvatore Boarding House, the woman wanted to cook food for Cordelia as a thank you for giving them a chance and saving Trevor; And Cordelia would never say no to free food. Trevor had even picked up a strawberry milkshake for her from the Mystic Grill, she happily drank it as Rose-Marie told her all about her childhood home and her shared adventures with Trevor who watched her fondly. The loving couple was both amusing and adorable, the way they bantered and appeared so relaxed in each other's presence was a sight that Cordelia loved to see. With the short time with them, Rose was like an older sister and Trevor was her fun boyfriend that had a great humour and a kind heart.

After having lunch with the sweet couple, Cordelia headed off to meet up with Tyler and Jeremy for a study session as despite all the chaos and threats, they still needed to keep their grades up as best as they could. Samuel had given them food while assisting where he could, Matt keeping his distance from Cordelia but watching with sharp eyes that left the blonde uneasy. It wasn't long until Damon had dragged the younger Forbes away from Jeremy and Tyler claiming they hadn't hung out in a while so with Alaric joining them, they returned to the Salvatore Boarding House where Damon and Alaric drank while Cordelia was showing off different spells that she had learnt from Clara's journal, both left impressed with use of magic and the fact that the Starlights skills had improved.

And later that night, Cordelia climbed into the bed with Stefan who more than happily wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close to him. He and Cordelia spoke about their days before the blonde slowly fall asleep feeling like a part of her was finally where it meant to be. Stefan ─ admittedly creepily ─ watched Cordelia as she slept peacefully in his arms, he had been dreaming of this for so long and he could do was curse at himself for screwing it all up when he did. He felt like a part of him had no control when he went back to Elena, like there had been some invisible string tugging in two directions and it was painful around his heart but then one of those strings snapped and every drop of pain faded. And now, as he closed his eyes and settled for the night, he held the woman he truly loved.

"Where are we going?" Elena asked Cordelia, the blonde leading the brunette towards an apartment that was now owned by Rose and Trevor. "To see Rose," Cordelia told her brunette companion, the Gilbert girl was confused but trusted Cordelia's decision. Cordelia knocked on the door and Rose opened it with a smile, one that widened upon seeing both girls. "Hello girls," Rose happily greeted, freedom with her love had greatly improved her life. "Hey Rose, I need a favour," Cordelia asked with hopeful eyes, the older vampire nodded before stepping aside so they could walk in. "So what can I help you with?" Rose asked as they sat down in the living room, the modern room was decorated beautifully.

"I need to talk to your friend Slater. Damon says that he seems to be well informed and I need more information about Klaus," Cordelia answered Rose who furrowed her brows in confusion. "I think that might not be a good idea," Rose expressed but Elena had to agree, it was her family at risk if things went wrong. "Cordelia is right. We need whatever information we can and if Slater can give it to us, it'd help," Elena added in support of Cordelia's idea. "And what would Damon and Stefan say about this?" Rose asked both of them knowing just how protective those boys were of them. "It doesn't matter because they aren't going to know, Rose. They don't control us," Cordelia warned Rose, she wasn't letting the brothers protective nature stop her and Elena from the answers that they need; they both had too much to lose.

With Damon and Stefan distracted by Alaric and Jeremy, the girls made their way out of town and to Slater's apartment. Rose lead them up the stairs before knocking on Slaters door, Cordelia took a breath and whispered to Elena, "Go with my plan." Elena looked at the blonde with uncertainty for a moment before trusting the look of reassurance sent her way. "Slater? Slater, it's Rose. Open up!" Rose called out as she knocked again but there was no response. "He's not home. Sorry," Rose directed to the two girls before moving to walk away, Cordelia snatched up her arm and raised a brow. "No, we aren't giving up that easily," Cordelia told the vampire who sighed, she moved out of the blonde's grip and broke the doors open using her strength.

"After you," Rose waved to the girls, Cordelia headed inside first and was instantly hit the presence of death, and so she followed it. "Shit. Rose!" Cordelia called out, the vampire followed her voice to see Slater dead on the floor. "I don't think he's gonna be much help," Rose expressed to the two, Elena frowned while Cordelia stepped away with a frown of her own. Both Cordelia and Elena began searching through Slater's desk while Rose removed the body from the middle of the apartment. "Looks like whoever blew up the coffee shop found him and killed him for his information," Elena expressed to the other two. "Just great," Cordelia groaned in irritation, she focused on the computer and began trying to solve the password.

"Yeah, probably to stop him from helping people like us. The guy was a vampire almanac. Knowing too much information just bit him in the ass," Rose expressed to the two girls, Cordelia shook her head as the seventeen year old noticed something. "What is it?" Elena asked seeing the look on the blonde's face, she watched as Cordelia got up and walked over to a large old book. Cordelia delicately brushed her fingers over the picture on the cover causing it to shine for a moment, "Saturn... it's the mark of a Starlight." Elena and Rose shared a look at the blonde's words before the former asked, "Is a a Grimoire?" Cordelia picked the book up and opened it to the first page, the story of the Titan of Stars was written on the first page. "Yeah, but for Starlights only," Cordelia replied before closing it at the sudden noise behind them.

Rose approached a set of doors, pulling them open before peeking into a small hallway where a woman is hiding behind a corner. "Alice?" Rose called out once she recognised the woman. "Rose!" Alice called out in shock before rushing towards the vampire, tears flowing down her cheeks bringing a saddened frown to Elena's face. "He's dead!" Alice cried out as Rose held her, though her expression showed that she didn't believe the woman's tears. Rose sat Alice down, rubbing her hand to comfort the woman who tries to regain her composure. Rose then gets up and approaches the kitchen where Elena is pouring tea for the woman, Cordelia sat at the table with the Grimoire in front of her reading the message left for the Starlights.

"She found him a few minutes before we did," Rose informed the two, Cordelia only half paying attention. "How is she?" Elena asked the vampire. "Overreacting. Big time," Rose answered making Cordelia snort. "Her boyfriend just died. There's no such thing as overreacting," Elena scolded the vampire with a slight glare. "Those tears are fake, 'Lena. She was only with him to become a vampire, right?" Cordelia asked Rose who nodded her head in agreement. Elena looked over at Alice with a frown, the woman was no longer crying and now appeared like a child who hadn't gotten their dessert. Elena walked out of the room towards Alice and handed her the cup. "Thank you," Alice said as she took it.

"You look really familiar. Did you know Slater?" Alice asked Elena as Cordelia and Rose walked in, the Grimoire tight in Cordelia's hold. "Not personally, no. I just knew he kept detailed records of all of his vampire contacts and--" Cordelia continued for Elena, "--We were hoping that he could point us towards Klaus." Alice scoffed, "Doubtful. Klaus doesn't want to be pointed at." The woman sipped her tea before narrowing her eyes on Cordelia's hold of the Grimoire, the galaxy image on the front seemed to swirl and sparkle; it had never done that before. "Do you know Slater's computer password?" Elena asked Alice pulling her thoughts away from Cordelia.

"Are you seriously asking me that right now? I just saw my boyfriend with a stake through his heart," Alice snapped back at her. "Oh God... let's not play dumb, he was your path to immortality, you'll find another, no doubt," Cordelia replied causing Alice to frown but she didn't deny the accusation. "Now you gonna help us or what?" Cordelia asked leaving no room for arguing, the darkened look made Alice stand from the couch and approach Slater's desk. "Could've been more polite," Elena offered softly. "I know but I'm making any promises to her. We get what we need and then I'll wipe her memories of it all," Cordelia responded to Elena before walking over to Alice. "Someone's been here. The hard drive's completely wiped out," Alice told them.

"Yeah, probably whoever killed him," Rose stated causing Elena to turn away and run her hands over her face. "But Slater was paranoid, right? So?" Cordelia asked turning her amused gaze to Alice who nodded. "Everything's backed up on a remote server," Alice added to Cordelia's rhetorical question. "Kristen Stewart. God, was he obvious," Alice mocked while Cordelia laughed, she wasn't surprised by this. "These are all leads to vampires?" Elena asked having looked back at the screen showing dozens of files. "Slater was obsessed. Almost as much as me," Alice replied to her. "Someone should know everything, keep track and such," Cordelia muttered to herself, she was impressed with Slater's work. "What about that one? Cody Webber. They exchanged dozens of emails about Elijah," Rose pointed out.

Realisation hit Cordelia about her knowledge on Elijah still being alive, he had claimed that he wished to speak with Elena but it was clear he hadn't yet. It didn't take Cordelia long to realise that the man was clearly responsible for the cafe attack and Slater's death, she had questions but had a feeling those answers wouldn't come so easy. "I could call him," Alice's words struck Cordelia and she knew what to say next. "Good. Tell him that we're trying to send a message to Klaus. The Doppelgänger is alive and the Starlight is in Mystic Falls, both are ready to surrender," Cordelia told Alice as she handed the woman the phone. Elena looked up at Cordelia with wide eyes, but the look she received from Cordelia washed away the shock; a promise that she knew what she was doing and they'd be okay.

"What!?" Rose snapped out, she looked between them expecting Elena to snap at the blonde but instead the Gilbert girl nodded at Alice. "Oh my God! I knew I recognised you," Alice expressed to Elena before looking at Cordelia, "And the book was responding to you! I can't believe I've met a real Starlight." Elena interrupted her, "Get him the message, please." Elena and Cordelia left the room as Alice made the call, Rose quickly followed the two girls. "What are you doing?" Rose asked angrily. "Trusting Cori's plan," Elena replied. "Luring him here," Cordelia replied, "If this prophecy is true. Klaus is the wolf. And if we're destined so they claim, he might listen to me. If not, I'll kill him myself." Rose looked between them with a look of disbelief, she couldn't believe how stupid they were being; underestimating Klaus' power.

"If Klaus finds her, he will kill her," Rose told the blonde who simply opened the Grimoire and began reading it. "I trust her plan, Rose. Will you?" Elena asked and though she felt some doubts about the plan, Elena knew how powerful Cordelia could become based on Bonnie's words. Alice walked into the room with a wide smile on her face, "Cody is on his way and he really wants to meet both of you." Rose shuts her eyes with a sigh before storming out, Cordelia nods to Alice who them followed Rose. "You're sure about this, right?" Elena asked Cordelia, the brunette was willing to give herself up to protect her family. "Absolutely, 'Lena. And with this book, I know exactly what I need to do," Cordelia reassured the brunette who nodded.

Ignoring her phone was perhaps a bad idea as she would have been warned by Jeremy about Damon and Stefan's abrupt leave before the two showed up at Slater's apartment. "What are you doing here?" Damon asked Elena and Cordelia, he and Stefan stood behind them with disapproving expression. "You gotta be kidding me, Rose!" Cordelia snapped at the vampire. "You called them?" Elena asked Rose. "I'm sorry, girls," Rose replied, she felt bad but she cared too much and wouldn't let them play sacrifice for everyone. "You said you understood," Elena expressed sadly. "She lied," Damon said with his eyes focused on the human in front of him. "Damon Salvatore! Stefan Salvatore!" Alice exclaimed joyfully once she stepped into the room. "Get rid of her," Damon told Rose.

"We are leaving," Stefan told them, his gaze focused on his Starlight that glared back defiantly; in any other situation, it would've been a turn on. "No. We are staying here. You two can leave, don't let the door hit you on the way out," Cordelia snapped back making Elena bite back a laugh. "I think I liked it better when you two hated each other," Damon stated, he was glad they got along but them working together was not a good thing, clearly. "We're not going with you," Elena told them, she and Cordelia wouldn't back down from this. "You do not get to make decisions anymore," Damon told them both. "When have we ever made a decision? You and Stefan do that for us. Now this, this is our decision," Elena snapped back at Damon, Cordelia felt pride in Elena's fight back.

"Who's gonna save your life while you're out making decisions?" Damon snarked. "You're not listening to us, Damon!" Cordelia growled out, her eyes filling white, "We don't need to be saved. Klaus is coming and he will kill everyone we love to get his way." Stefan and Damon frowned at the power flowing through Cordelia, she was clearly stronger than she was a week ago but they didn't want them sacrificing themselves. "Get your asses out the door before we throw you both over our shoulders and carry you out," Damon warned them, Stefan kept his eyes locked on Cordelia's, the comfort from them relaxed the blonde enough for her eyes to return to their normal appearance. Elena and Damon continued to argue until the doors opened.

Damon stood protectively in front of Elena, his stature kept her hidden while Stefan was pushed aside by Cordelia, the blonde standing front and center. "We're here to meet the Doppelgänger and Starlight," Cody spoke up, two more men standing behind him. "Thank you for coming," Elena spoke as she moved around Damon, the older Salvatore lightly pushes her back. "I will break your arm," Damon threatened but they knew he wouldn't. "There's nothing here for you," Stefan spoke up as he grabbed Cordelia by her waist and pulled her back into his chest, grateful she didn't fight it. The man in the back suddenly dropped to the floor, Elijah standing behind him.

Cody and the other vampire look back at Elijah who then speeds towards them, looking from one to the other while Rose gasped and took off from the apartment. "I killed you. You were dead," Damon expressed in shock. "For centuries now," Elijah replied to him with eyes alight in amusement. "Who are you?" Elijah asked Cody who repeated the question. "I'm Elijah," Elijah introduced causing Cody to beam at him. "We were gonna bring them to you. For Klaus. The Doppelgänger and Starlight. I don't know how she exists, but she does. And Klaus wants his Starlight," Cody expressed to Elijah. "Does anyone else know that you're here?" Elijah asked. "No," Cody answered. "Well, then, you have been incredibly helpful," Elijah said.

Elijah then plunges his arm into the two vampires' chests, the both grunt painfully as the vampire rips their hearts out. The two vampires fall to the floor, dead, and Elijah lets their hearts drop from his hands. Damon and Stefan prepare to fight Elijah again however, Elijah shocks them by simply turning around and leaving the apartment in a rush. Damon and Stefan share a look while Cordelia and Elena share their own, the blonde sighed before stepping out of Stefan's arms. She picked up the Grimoire before focusing on Slater's computer, the screens and hard drive exploded into pieces before Cordelia walked out without saying another word.
