Continuation from chapter 11

"Aunty?",Sri asked.

"Ayyo, why are you looking like you saw your worst fear in the form of me, Sri?",Shyamala asked.

"Aunty..that..",Sri was stammering.

"I should scold those serial directors who spoilt the image of our mother-in-law. Sigh! See, Sri I won't say I am just like your mother, blah blah and blah. I just wanted to have a casual talk with you just like that. First relax! Breathe in and breathe out!",Shyamala said and Sri followed what all she said.

"Aunty, we'll go out then",Ridhi said.

"No no, I am sorry what's your name?",Shyamala asked.

"Ridhi, aunty",Ridhi replies.

"Ridhi, nice name. If you all are feeling uncomfortable, I will leave you don't leave. Mru atleast you speak something",Shyamala said.

"Aunty, you talk to your to be daughter in law na. Meanwhile we'll see if we can find any guys out there",Mrinmayee said and the four of them laughed out.

"Oh oh, didn't know Mru wanted to get married soon too. I'll let your mother know-",before Shyamala could talk anything more Mrinmayee interrupted her.

"Aunty no no, count me out of all this marriage thing. Not going to be in anytime soon",Mrinmayee said.

"We'll see, till time comes everyone will say like this only. Oh wait, I forgot what I was going to tell to Sri",Shyamala said and turned to look at Sri again.

"Sri, nothing serious ma. Any time if that fellow troubles you or annoys you. You just give me a call and I will make him run on roads with a broom stick in my hand, I will run after him",she said to which Sri giggled.

"And also though I have three daughters they're all in their dad's party all the time. You'll be in my support right?",she asked to which Sri Devi nodded.

"You look beautiful dear, nazar na lage to my dear daughter in law",Shyamala said and put a kajal dot behind her ear.

Back to present :

Sri Devi sat there while Krishnam Raju gave Aadhira to her.

"Mavayyagaru, did you have your breakfast?",she asked.

"Yes Sri, I'll go freshen up and drop Ishu there and then meet my old friend and come back home",he said.

"Come Ishu, you also eat your breakfast and be ready. We'll leave as soon as I get ready and come",Krishnam Raju said and  went to freshen up.

Aadhira's m.v : This enemy is again sitting here along with my mammaa! Shoo go away!

Aadhira was being cranky looking at Ishu first thing and the red color which seemed way too irritating for her.

"Why can't she just keep quiet?",Ishu said  shrugging.

Sri didn't want to pick a fight with her. She got up from there with Aadhira in her arms and went back to her room. She laid Aadhira on the bed with the pillow support and sat on beside her.

She switched on her laptop to log in.

"Sri, why are you here ma? Come have your breakfast",Shyamala said.

"Athaya garu, I'll have it after some time. I don't feel like eating",Sri said.

"But, okay when you take a break don't forget to eat. Alright?",Shyamala said to which Sri nodded.

Shyamala took Aadhira with her so that Sri could work in peace. Sri started working, there was a team meeting going on and she had to join it quickly. She made her hair into a bun and joined the meet.

The meet went almost for an hour and half. Sri was feeling a bit uncomfortable, but it was important for her to be there since she was leading the project and the client was giving some feedback related to the recent submission.

When the meeting finally came to an end, it was 11am and Sri asked her team mates to come back for a meeting in half an hour as she wanted to discuss something with all of them regarding the things that client suggested.

She completed her late morning chores and went to check on Aadhira and her mother in law.

Both of them were video calling her sisters in law. The three of them live in three different places yet try to connect with their mother whenever she calls them.

"Oye Aadhu, this time when I come there. What should I get for you?",Nisha her youngest aunt asks while Aadhira tries to reach out to the plushy toy and signals her to bring a lot of them.

"Oh so baby Aadhu wants so many plushy, I will bring for you baby",she says to which Aadhu gives her flying kiss.

Shyamala notices Sri being there and silently looking at the whole thing.

"Sri, you go and have your breakfast dear. Aadhu is busy with her athais",Shyamala says.

"Vadina is here, amma show vadina once. We won't take much time from your dear daughter in law. Just want to talk once",Prasanna the middle aunt of Aadhira come on to screen.

Sri rushed near the screen and sat beside  Shyamala. Aadhira who saw her mother beside after long time jumped onto her and kept her hands around her neck while her face was stuck in the crook of her neck.

"Hi Prashu, Nisha, Anvi! Gurthunnana(do you remember me?)",Sri asked pulling their leg.

"Vadina, we are supposed to ask that. You stole our words",they said and all of them giggled.

Hearing them giggle Aadhira looked at the screen too with her thumb finger in her mouth.

"Anyways how's everything? All okay? When are you guys coming again?",Sri asked.

"All okay vadina, all good and about that we thought we'll come to Aadhira's first birthday but Nisha and Prashu have exams then and I got a new project recently. It will take some more time I guess",Anvi the eldest of the three said.

"Oye, you were supposed to be here for Aadhu's birthday atleast. But it's fine, write your exams well Prashu and Nishu. Anvi you concentrate on the project. Once it's done, we all will meet and have so much fun",Sri said but she was kind of disappointed.

She wanted the whole family to be there for Aadhu's first birthday. She reminded herself that she need to start planning out and need to keep the guest list as a check list too.

"Vadina, it's office hours right? How's work?",Nisha asked.

"Quite hectic Nishu, we just had a meeting with the client. I should go and discuss the same with the team now",Sri said.

"Oh, we'll catch up with our talk soon. We have so much to tell you, but if we won't leave you now and if you don't go and eat. Our amma won't regret making us run on roads for keeping her dear daughter in law hungry with our talks",Prasanna said and Sri giggled.

All the while Aadhira was looking at the screen when they were speaking and when her mother or grand mother were speaking she kept looking at their faces.

"You go and eat dear, Aadhira come let's say bye to athais",Shyamala took her in her arms and they bid bye to the three of them.

Sri was trying to gobble up food quickly as she needed to rush to the meeting real quick.

"So so mammaaaaa",Aadhira said tapping her hand on the table.

"Baby, mamma has to rush. Next time slow slow okay?",Sri said to which she earned a glare from her daughter and her mother in law as well.

She completed her breakfast and went back to the meeting. Her work went on and on till the evening. It was quite exhausting and she didn't realise when she dozed off.

On the other hand Aadhira was missing her mamma and dadda. She played till the evening and when she went and checked what her mamma was still doing. She saw that her mother slept and she signalled her grandma to put her to bed as well.

She settled on the bed and threw her arms on her mamma and closed her eyes feeling the warmth of her mother's presence.

She moved closer snuggling into her mother while Shyamala just smiled and came back to the living room. She switched on the TV and started watching it.

It was almost 6:30pm when the door bell rang but the two beauties were in there completing their beauty sleep. Shyamala opened the door to find Ram there.

"Maa, where is Aadhu? Is she asleep?",he asked to which Shyamala nodded.

"Where did nanna go?",he asked settling on the couch beside his mother.

"Morning he went to drop Ishu to some interview and then he said he will visit some of his friends. He'll be back anytime soon",she said to which he nodded.

"Did you have your lunch maa?",he asked keeping his head in her lap while she patted his head lovingly.

"Yes ra, I did. Did you eat?",she asked to which he nodded a yes.

He layed down there for some more time. Laying down in his mother's lap after a tiring day was indeed peaceful. He used to do that when he used to come back from college too.

"Rey, go freshen up and come. I need to make dinner. Sri didn't have her lunch also",Shyamala said.

"What? Why? And amma, wait I will freshen up and come then I will make dinner by myself. You made breakfast and lunch right? Mammalni kuda paiki raniyu amma, talent ni thokeyyaku ( Let us also improve mother, don't try to under estimate our talent)",he said and earned a smack from Shyamala.

Both of them giggled and Ram went to freshen up. He took quick strides towards his room to look at both of the cuddling each other and sleeping peacefully. He didn't feel like waking them up.

He went to freshen up and then changed into his casuals. He walked towards them and kissed Aadhira on her forehead first and she just moved more into her mamma and slept again.

He did the same with Devi and she opened her eyes slowly to meet his eyes staring at hers.

She tried to wake up, but a strong hold on her arm didn't let her and it didn't take her long to realise whose hold it was.

"I'm so sorry Ram garu, I didn't realise when I dozed off. Athaya garu must have worked all the time. I feel so guilty",she said and pouted sadly.

He held her other hand which was free and kissed on her knuckle.

"Don't worry ammadi, First tell me how are you feeling now? Is it paining a lot? Do you want to have something?",he asked in a whisper tone.

"I'm good, just the cramps, Ram garu. I'll be fine by tomorrow. No, I will go make something. Why don't you sit back and relax for sometime? I will ask athaya garu also to sleep for sometime",saying so Sri was going to get up but Ram pushed her back to sleep.

"Why do you worry so much? Nothing happened Sri, all good. You tell me, how was your day? Was work hectic?",he asked to which she took a deep breath.

He observes that and kisses on her forehead once again and scoops her in his arms from side trying not to wake their daughter up.

"It'll be okay, we'll manage it together",he says and she puts her head on his chest and closes her eyes..

I am alive hehe yeah, I am!

I know the last update was in last year and it's been forever since I updated.

Life has been keeping me busy guys, sorry about that but maybe after this month end I'll find a little free time hopefully not that there won't be any more updates this month. There will be for sure!

You guys missed Aadhira enough, not any more!
