━︎━︎━︎━︎"𝐈𝐓 𝐌𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓 𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐄 you to know that some of history's greatest leaders have had to endure some pretty great failures. One you'll recognize from last nights reading failed in business, had a nervous breakdown, was defeated for both houses of Congress, and lost as Vice President before he was finally elected as one of the greatest presidents this country has ever seen. Who was he?" Mr. Yukimura sat on his desk at the front of the classroom, his eyes looking at all of his students. Elaine sat there at her desk, a pencil in her hand as she carelessly doodled in her notebook. Malia sat beside her, yellow highlighter in her mouth with a red one running over the words in front of her. "Malia."

Malia looked up. Stiles, Scott, and Elaine all turned to look at her. The sound of a phone ringing made Scott turn, quickly reaching forwards to silence his phone. "Scott, phones off. Malia? One of our greatest presidents." Malia took the red highlighter, also placing it in her mouth as she grabbed her books and started flipping through one of them. "Gettysburg Address?" And then another phone went off. "Phones off, everyone." He went back to Malia. "Malia?" He sighed. "Does anyone else know?"

Everyone raised their hands and Malia shrunk in her seat. Elaine gave her a small reassuring smile. Another phone went off. "I said phones off!"

Kira raised her hand. "Dad, that was yours."

"Oh." He picked up his phone. "'Scott, call Lydia.'"

As soon as Scott called Lydia and their history class was over, Scott dragged Elaine and Stiles to the animal clinic where Lydia and Deaton were. Elaine walked in first, Scott and Stiles following after her. She came to a stop when she realized that Derek was no where to be found and Deaton was bleeding. Elaine sighed as she walked over, her time at the hospital immediately coming to life as she started to wrap Deaton's arm, Lydia handing her anything that she needed.

"I don't think he's just younger in body." Deaton explained to them. "I think he's younger in his mind too."

Lydia shook her head. "He didn't recognize either of us. And he looked like he was scared out of his mind." She moved away from Elaine as she finished wrapping Deaton's arm, the man nodding his head in silent thanks to which Elaine just gave him a small smile in response.

"So if you're a teenager werewolf and you're scared, where do you go?" Stiles asked.

"A wolf goes back to its den. But Derek lives in a loft." Scott answered.

Elaine crossed her arms over her chest, furrowing her eyebrows. "But he's younger in mind, right?" The group looked at her. "Where did Derek live when he was a teenager?"

Lydia immediately caught on. "The Hale House."

"He wouldn't remember the fire." Deaton nodded. "It wouldn't have happened yet."

"Oh, God." Elaine sighed. "Please don't tell me we're about to traumatize the teenage version of Derek even more than he already is?"

"We got to catch up to him." Scott quickly said.

"Hold on." Lydia spoke before he could even move. "Say you do manage to catch up to him, what are you going to say to him? That his whole family is dead?"

"I guess I'm going to have to."

"Oh, good luck with that." Lydia nodded.

"She's probably right." Stiles agreed, turning to look at Scott. "Maybe you shouldn't. You know, at least until we figure out how to get him back to normal."

"I can't lie to him."

Stiles shrugged. "Okay, I'll do it."

"I don't think any of us can. Remember he can hear a heartbeat rising."

"Elaine's a witch. I'm sure she can block that or something." Stiles waved it off. Elaine raised her eyebrows at him.

"When we find him, we tell him the truth." Scott decided.

"If he gets to the house first, you won't have to."

━︎━︎━︎━︎𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐎 𝐌𝐀𝐃𝐄 it to the sheriff's station, just in time to see Noah look over at them with an expression his face that let them know he knew there was something supernatural about this. The three were dragged into his office. Noah sat on his desk, the three teenagers standing in front of him. "I want you to be honest with me. Absolutely and completely honest. Have you been time traveling?"

The three stood there in silence, Elaine's eyebrows raising in surprise as Stiles quickly said, "Hang on, what?"

"Because if time traveling is real, you know what? I'm done. I'm out. You're going to be driving me to Eichen House!"

"We found him like that." Scott told him.

"Where?" Noah hissed. "Swimming in the fountain of youth?"

"No." Stiles denied. "We found him buried in a tomb of wolfsbane in an Aztec temple in Mexico underneath a church in the middle of a town that was destroyed by an earthquake." Elaine placed a hand on her forehead, closing her eyes at his explanation. He was really testing his father, wasn't he? She could hear Scott sigh beside of her causing he to look up and exchange a look with him.

"You told me you were camping!" Noah whisper shouted.

"We were." Stiles nodded. "In-in Mexico."

"Maybe we should just not talk anymore, huh?" Elaine said, patting his shoulder. Stiles nodded in agreement.

"Derek's been aged backwards. He can't remember anything." Scott simply explained.

"We just need to talk to him." Elaine finished.

Noah sighed, sitting back down on the edge of his desk. "Yeah, well, so far he's not talking to anybody."

Scott turned his head to look out the window, looking where Derek was sitting outside the office. "He'll talk to me."

Noah sent the boy in, staying outside and watching Scott try to talk to him. Elaine and Stiles leaned against Noah's desk, exchanging looks with one another before turning back to where Scott stood in front of Derek who was sitting on the couch. "Why would I go anywhere with you?" Derek asked.

"There was an accident." Scott explained. "You lost some memory, but we can help you get it back."

"How much memory?"

"A lot. But you can trust us."

Elaine turned her head to look at Stiles, frowning when she saw him looking at something behind her. "What?" She softly asked. Stiles glanced at her before glancing back down and then turning away from it, shaking his head. Elaine decided against pushing further and turned her attention back towards Scott who was know kneeled in front of Derek, showing him his eyes.

"You're an alpha?" Derek asked. "Okay. Who are you? And who are they? Who are you?" He pointed to Elaine and Stiles, making the two look at him.

Stiles decided to answer. "Oh, we're the guys keeping you out of jail."

"Let us help you."

Derek shook his head. "No."

Stiles sighed. "Okay, dude, you almost tore apart two cops back there. You need to listen to us. And that starts with no fangs, no claws, no wolf man. You got that?"

"I'm fine as long as it's not on a full moon."

Scott frowned. "You still have trouble with the full moon?"

"I said I'm fine."

"Alright." Stiles stood up and Elaine looked at him. "Are you coming with us or not?"

"You want me to trust you?" Derek asked. "Where's my family?"

The three exchanged looks before Scott started to tell him. Elaine watched the pain and heartbreak fall on Derek's face as he listened to Scott explain the fire. She bit the inside of her cheek, looking down at the ground, ready for Scott to break the news that his family was dead. But when he did the exact opposite, she immediately looked up at him. She exchanged a look with Stiles as Scott continued, saying that they would take Derek to his family once they got his memories back. And much to Elaine's surprise, Derek agreed.

When the group walked out, leaving Derek with Noah to get released, Elaine looked at Scott for a moment before slapping him on the back of the head. "Why did you do that?" She hissed

"I know, I know." Scott sighed, holding his head in his hands. "I shouldn't have done that. I lied my ass off."

"Hey, your ass is fine." Stiles assured.

"I thought we were done with the whole lying thing." The two boys looked at her, both being reminded of what happened. She scoffed. "And this is where I'm gone. Let me know how that works out for you two."

"El." Stiles called but she ignored him and walked out of the station. Stiles sighed. "She's never going to forgive us."

"Yeah, she's really not going to forgive us when she finds out about Peter and Malia." Scott muttered.

Elaine sighed as she left. She was getting tired of people lying. She got into her car, thankful that she'd actually driven in a separate vehicle than her brother and Stiles, and started to drive. She didn't know where. All she knew was that she wanted to clear her head, and driving was the best way to do so. When she got the call from Lydia that explained everything that was happening she sighed and decided to stop the car. Scott and Malia went to talk with Peter, Stiles and Derek were at her house, and Lydia and Kira were at gas station somewhere where they found a mutilated body which Elaine had the pleasure of seeing pictures of―︎it took everything in her not to throw up at the sight.

Elaine looked up and found herself freezing. She hadn't realized where she'd driven to. She kept the car on as she got out of it, moving inside even though her mind was telling her to stay away. Her eyes searched the place, automatic tears forming. She'd brought herself back to the place where everything fell apart. The night her trust had been broken. The night that her wolf side had been activated. The night she had murdered her mother. She could still feel the blood on her hands, her mothers body in her arms as she cried. Her phone started ringing, pulling the girl from her memories. She blinked away her tears and pulled her phone from her pocket, clearing her throat as she answered.

"Hello?"

"Kate got Derek. I left for literally five seconds and she manipulated him, now we think he's taking her to the vault which is at the school and―︎"

"Headed towards the school now." Elaine cut Stiles off, nodding before ending the call. She looked at the place one more time before quickly turning on her heel and running back to her car. She got in and sped towards the school. Elaine quickly got out of her car once she pulled up, running towards the sound of fighting. She saw Derek fighting off two Berserkers, on the other side she saw Malia, Scott, and Kira on the ground, watching the fight.

"Derek, get down!" Elaine yelled. He turned to look at her before quickly doing as she said. "Get away from my friends, you assholes. Externa conatus." She held out her hands, watching as it sent the two flying away from the group. Elaine stood in front of them, ready to kill them when suddenly they stood up and ran away. Elaine turned around, watching the other three stand up. Then her eyes turned to Derek who was kneeled on the ground. Elaine stood in front of him. She took a step closer, stopping when he looked up at her. A breath of relief left her lips.

"Derek?" Scott asked, Elaine carefully walking over to her brother. Derek turned to face them, revealing that he was back to his normal age. But what Elaine wasn't expecting was his eyes to no longer be blue, but instead they were yellow. A Beta's yellow.
