Forever Away

You two were dancing in the dark, but something felt off. You stopped dancing and looked into her eyes.

"What's the matter?"

She avoided your gaze. "Nothing, let's just keep dancing."

You looked at her, concerned. You knew some of your past decisions bothered her. They occasionally came back to haunt you. You both had things to do. Your thoughts were racing because you knew something was wrong.

"This isn't right. I'm dancing with you but we're both not really here, are we? We're in two completely different places right now," she said.

"I understand, I really do," you replied.

Maybe this was for the better. A break. But you couldn't part with her for long.

"Could you reconsider?" You asked.

"You know as well as I do that this is better."

"Will you come back?"

She turned on the radio for a last dance and you slowly led her around the room.

"I will."
