PROLOGUE

My heart pounded. We had only gone on five datesโ€”each one arranged by our families. Five dates, and now, I stood here, about to make a lifelong commitment.

He eats broccoli in cake. I repeated to myself, almost in disbelief. And he can't even meet your eyes, girl.

Taking a deep breath, I forced myself to look up. His dark brown eyes, usually distant, held an unfamiliar softness. This was always meant to happen. In families like ours, marriage wasnโ€™t a question of love but of legacy. I had known since childhood that one day, I would be matched with someone of the same status. It wasnโ€™t exactly forced, yet it was never truly a choice either.

I smiled. He did have a pure heart though.

โ€œYes, I do.โ€

And just like that, I accepted Kim Taehyungโ€”the only heir of the Kim Empire, the quiet, enigmatic man I was arranged toโ€”as my lawful husband. Till death do us part.

The double doors of the lavish building swung open as Taehyung walked in with a commanding presence, his cold, straight expression revealing nothing of his thoughts. A team of assistants and executives trailed behind him in hurried steps, their urgency reflecting his dominance.

Each stride he took was deliberate, exuding authority that filled the air. He moved like a man who owned not just the company but the world, which wasnโ€™t far from the truth.

As he crossed the gleaming lobby, employees froze in their tracks. Bowing heads followed his every step, and whispers of admiration rippled through the background. The women in the vicinity were left breathless, their gazes glued to his striking features and unapproachable demeanor.

Despite his unwavering gaze and emotionless front, he noticed everythingโ€”every reaction, every subtle movementโ€”without turning his head.

His manager rushed ahead to hold the elevator doors open. Once inside, Taehyung stood tall and silent, his sharp suit and intense aura making the confined space seem even smaller.

The elevator doors opened on the next floor, where his manager began the tour, eagerly explaining the companyโ€™s various branches. But as they entered the first office, the team found themselves greeted by a chorus of โ€œGood morning, Chairman.โ€

Without so much as a nod, Taehyung turned on his heel and left, his abrupt exit leaving the staff in stunned silence.

Returning to the elevator, he pressed the button and waited, standing alone. His team, caught off guard, scrambled to join him before the doors closed.

โ€œI donโ€™t need to meet anyone. Take me to my cabin,โ€ he ordered curtly, breaking the tense silence.

The manager quickly nodded, leading him to the expansive Chairmanโ€™s office. Once inside, Taehyung's sharp eyes scanned every corner, his expression hard to read but his dissatisfaction palpable.

โ€œIs this my funeral? Why are there so many flowers? Throw them out. Clean the place,โ€ he commanded in a low but cutting tone. The team jumped into action, clearing the room until it matched his meticulous standards.

Once the cabin was emptied and silent, Taehyung slipped off his coat, draping it over his chair. He walked to the massive glass window, hands buried in his pockets, gazing out at the towering skyline.

โ€œThe amount of rudeness you managed in just one hour, my dear friend, would make anyone think youโ€™ve been CEO for years,โ€ Park Jimin remarked, stepping into the room with a smirk.

โ€œGet out, Park Jimin,โ€ Taehyung replied in a low, icy voice, his gaze never leaving the view.

โ€œFvck you too,โ€ Jimin retorted playfully before leaving the room.

With a deep sigh, Taehyung returned to his chair, sinking into its plush comfort. He rubbed his temples with long fingers, muttering to himself, โ€œLong day, my introverted self.โ€

After a moment of stillness, he leaned forward, pulling his coat from the chair. From its inner pocket, he retrieved a small photo.

A rare, soft smile tugged at his lips as he stared at the image. โ€œSo... is it really her?โ€ he whispered to no one, his voice tinged with something between curiosity and disbelief.

With a bundle of books cradled in her arms, Y/n strolled through the bustling university corridors, her radiant smile lighting up the space. She greeted every familiar face with cheerful nods, her laughter ringing softly like a melody in the background.

โ€œMorning, Y/n!โ€
โ€œMorning, Louis!โ€

Her steps were light and carefree, almost rhythmic as she hummed to the faint music echoing somewhere in the distance. Her aura was magnetic, drawing smiles from half the people around her while the other half shot her curious glances, puzzled at how she could always seem so happy and unbothered.

Y/n wasnโ€™t just a librarian; she was the sunshine of the universityโ€”a simple post-graduate who worked in the library despite her wealthy family background.

Reaching the library, she plopped the heavy stack of books onto the table with an exaggerated sigh. โ€œThere you go, Miss,โ€ she teased, flashing a grin at Rosy, her friend and the libraryโ€™s in-charge.

โ€œCould you put them back where they belong? Pleeease?โ€ Rosy pleaded, her big puppy eyes in full effect.

Y/n laughed. โ€œThatโ€™s what Iโ€™m here for, Rosy. Count on me!โ€ she declared, lifting the bundle again.

As she was about to move, Ji-So, another library worker, appeared holding a rather... peculiar item with a stick.

โ€œAnother lacy red pantie,โ€ Ji-So announced, rolling her eyes in annoyance.

Rosy groaned. โ€œI donโ€™t get it! Why do they leave these here? Is this some kind of message? This library is turning into a strip club!โ€

Y/n squinted, genuinely puzzled. โ€œWhy would anyone take off their underwear in a library?โ€

Ji-So smirked, arching a brow. โ€œSeriously, Y/n? You donโ€™t know?โ€

โ€œWhat are they doing?โ€ she asked, trying to piece together the mystery.

Ji-So sighed dramatically. โ€œOh, Y/n. Your future husbandโ€™s going to divorce you for being this clueless.โ€

Y/n froze, dumbfounded, as the two walked off, shaking their heads in mock disappointment. She shrugged it off and returned to shelving books, her cheerful energy undeterred.
