Time and tide wait for none, and this saying holds true for our beloved couple, RAHU (Raghav and Pihu).
Only one day remains before they embark on a new journey together, ready to face the challenges that lie ahead.
Though they haven't had much time to spend together, their feelings for each other have grown immensely over the past few months. Their conversations have been limited to texts and calls, which typically occur late at night, as they both get busy with their respective work during the day. It has become a nightly ritual for them to talk before going to bed, a habit that has strengthened their bond.
Their engagement took place two weeks ago, followed by vibrant sangeet and mehendi ceremonies. Some relatives from the Shaw family are staying with them for the wedding, adding to the hustle and bustle of the household. Children are playing hide and seek, some people are engaged in lively gossip, and others are busy with preparations for the big day.
The Singhania mansion is also abuzz with similar excitement and activity.Among the guests, Pihu's office friend Mahima, who is three month pregnant, has been staying with her for the past few days. The presence of friends and family has created an atmosphere of joy and anticipation, making the occasion even more special for Raghav and Pihu.
In Pihu's room,
Pihu was gazing at her mehendi-clad hands, lost in her thoughts. The intricate designs told a story of love and tradition, each swirl and curve symbolizing the bond she was about to formalize. Her mind wandered through memories of their journey together, from the first text to the late-night calls that had become their lifeline.
Just then, Mahima entered the room.
Just then, Mahima entered the room, her voice ringing out, "Yaar, Pihu! I've been calling you for such a long time, and here you are, sitting quietly in your room."
Startled, Pihu got up and turned to her friend. "Mahima, how many times have I told you not to shout like this? And why are you roaming around so much? Sit down in one place quietly, yaar. It's not good for your health. This is exactly why I didn't want you to stay here."
Mahima rolled her eyes but smiled, her expression softening as she took a seat. "I know, I know. But there's so much going on, and I wanted to help out."
Pihu shook her head, concern etched on her face. "Your health is more important than helping with the wedding preparations. You need to take it easy, especially now."
Mahima sighed, leaning back in the chair placing her palm on her small baby bump which was visible through her dress.
"Alright, I'll try to sit still. But it's hard with all this excitement around."
'But you tell me first why your face is dull, yaar? Tomorrow is your marriage. At least show some excitement!' Mahima asked, concern etched on her face as she looked at her friend.
Pihu sighed, listening to her. 'Of course, I'm excited, but at the same time, I'm feeling a bit nervous, Mahi,' she confessed, her voice tinged with anxiety.
Mahima scrunched her eyebrows, puzzled by Pihu's confession.
She came and sat beside her, gently holding her hand. 'Nervousness? For what, Pihu? You know you can share it with me,' she said, her tone soft and encouraging.
Pihu glanced at her henna-clad hands, the intricate designs a stark contrast to her troubled expression. 'What if Raghav ji forces me on that day?' she confessed, her voice barely above a whisper.
Mahima's eyes widened in surprise. 'Force? What type of force? I'm not able to understand,' she asked, leaning closer to catch Pihu's words.
Pihu's voice dropped even lower as she murmured, 'On our first night...'
Understanding dawned on Mahima's face as she realized the depth of Pihu's fear.
She gently squeezed Pihu's hand. 'You know, Pihu, when I got married, I used to think the same way. In fact, many women go through this phase. But trust me, if you marry the right person, he or she will always respect your choices first. After seeing Raghav that day, one thing I'm sure of is that he is not a person like that. He will not do anything to make you uncomfortable. And if he tries to, you tell him that you are not ready for any physical intimacy yet. You need time,' Mahi said reassuringly.
Pihu nodded slightly, her eyes still clouded with worry. 'I know, yaar. Raghav ji is not like that, but still, these thoughts keep coming to my mind,' she admitted, her voice trembling.
Mahima wrapped an arm around Pihu's shoulders, pulling her into a comforting hug.
'I know. It's common. Everyone feels this type of nervousness before their wedding night. But don't worry. Everything will be good,' she said, her voice soothing and full of warmth.
Pihu felt a sense of relief wash over her as she leaned into Mahima's embrace. 'Thanks, Mahi. I'm feeling more relaxed after sharing this with you,' she said gratefully.'
No thanks and sorry in friendship,' Mahi cutely glared at her, making Pihu chuckle.
'Okay, okay, I'm taking my thank you back,' Pihu said with a small smile, feeling a bit lighter.
By the way, you were telling me about a gift the other day?β Mahima asked.
Pihu responded excitedly, βYes! I've decided to give him something special as a wedding gift. Just wait here; let me bring it.β
βOkay, okay,β Mahima chuckled.
Pihu returned with a wrapped item and handed it to Mahima, saying, βI wanted to give him something unique, so I drew his portrait. What do you think?β
Mahima carefully unwrapped the gift, and a gasp escaped her lips. βIt's so beautiful, Pihu!β
βDo you think he'll like it?β Pihu asked nervously.
Mahima lightly slapped her head. βUffo what I'll do with this dumbo!! Are you crazy ?? Of course, he'll love it! Hand-made gifts are the most precious from all other gifts. He'll definitely love it,Β after his wife made it with so much effortβ she teases her with the last line
Pihu blushes...
AT SINGHANIA MANSION:
In Raghav's room,
Raghav is lying on his mother's lap in his room, and Reema is gently caressing his hair. The room is dimly lit, filled with the soft, comforting glow of a bedside lamp, casting a serene ambiance.
"After such a long time, I'm laying on your lap like this," he murmurs, closing his eyes.
"Yes, and from tomorrow, you'll sleep on your wife's lap," she teases, her voice tinged with playful affection.
Raghav whines, "Now you also started teasing me?"Reema laughs, seeing his flushed face.
"So what ?? It's my right as your mother."
"Mumma?" he calls her again, his voice a mix of curiosity and anxiety.
"Hmm?" she hums, continuing to stroke his hair.
"From tomorrow onwards, my responsibilities will increase more, right? Will I be able to handle everything, Mumma?"
"Of course, my bacha. Till today, you have handled all your responsibilities so well. Why should this time be any different?" she reassures him, her voice filled with confidence.
Raghav's brow furrows slightly, and he looks up at her.
"But you know, there is something more that you need to keep in your mind every second," she continues, her tone becoming serious.
Raghav looks up, his eyes wide with curiosity. "What is it, Mumma?"
"Never, ever take your office-related frustrations out on your wife. It should not affect your home life. If there are any misunderstandings between you both, don't jump to conclusions without hearing her side of the story, okay, bacha?"Raghav nods, absorbing her words.
"Always remember that the girl has left everything behind to come to your house. Have you ever thought about the girl who has always lived with her parents and then suddenly has to leave them?" Reema's voice wavers slightly, the weight of her words hanging in the air.
"A girl wants nothing but her husband's support, trust, and love. That's it. Think a hundred times before saying something hurtful. It's our duty to make her feel welcome, not pressurize her," she advises, her eyes reflecting a deep well of wisdom and emotion.
"And that's all I want to tell you now because the rest, I know, whatever you'll do, will be right," she finishes, her voice softening again.
Raghav smiles, nodding his head. He can see his mother's eyes glistening with tears, probably thinking about her own parents while saying all this.
He gently wipes her tears, saying, "I understand, Mumma, and I'll do anything to keep her happy."Reema nods, her heart swelling with pride and love.
"Now come on, sleep. It's already late. Tomorrow, you have to get up early. There are so many rituals to perform. I'm going now."
With that, she gives him a tender kiss on the forehead and leaves the room, the door closing softly behind her.
Raghav watches her go, feeling a profound sense of gratitude and responsibility. He takes a deep breath, letting her words settle in his heart, and closes his eyes, ready to embrace the new chapter of his life with confidence and love.
