Without turning towards her, Pihu spoke coldly,

"Why have you come here now? Are you here to taunt me again?"

But Tanya's next words shook her to the core.

Looking down, Tanya murmured, "I am sorry, Pihu..."

Pihu, taken aback, repeated in disbelief, "Sorry?"

Tanya nodded, her voice laced with regret. "The way I behaved with you at the party that day... I shouldnโ€™t have done that. And the way I tried to insult youโ€ฆ I am sorry for that too."

Pihu frowned, still confused. "But why this sudden apology? You never liked meโ€ฆ then why now?"

Tanya let out a sigh before answering, "Yesterday, Raghav met me... He made me realize how wrong I was with you..."

And just like that, everything clicked in Pihuโ€™s mind. Now, she could finally connect the dots.

Yesterday, she had seen Raghav and Tanya together at the cafรฉ, and instead of understanding the situation, she had completely misunderstood everything without even confronting him. Oh Godโ€ฆ

Tanya lowered her gaze, her voice filled with regret. "I did all that to create misunderstandings between you two... I've liked Raghav since our school days. I have feelings for him. I couldn't believe that you were his wife... and in my blind love, I ended up doing so many wrong thingsโ€”to you, to Raghav..."

She let out a sad laugh, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "But you know love can never be forced. It happens on its own... Maybe it was never meant for me."

Quickly wiping her tears, she straightened up.

"Anyway, it doesn't matter now. Once again, Iโ€™m sorry, Pihu. I know that a mere apology canโ€™t undo what I did, but still, if possible, please forgive me. Iโ€™m leaving for Bangalore tomorrow, and before going, I wanted to clear everything."

Pihu remained silent, listening intently to Tanyaโ€™s words. After a moment, she finally spoke, her voice calm yet firm.

"I donโ€™t even know what to say... What you did to me at that party hurt me a lot. I was angry when I found out you wanted to create problems between us..."

She paused, taking a deep breath before continuing.
"But I donโ€™t want to hold any grudges against you because you accepted your mistake. Itโ€™s okay, I forgive you. But remember one thingโ€”if you ever try to do something like this again, I wonโ€™t be able to forgive you next time."

Tanya simply shook her head and pulled Pihu into a hug.

"Thank you so, so much for forgiving me," she whispered, rubbing her eyes as she fought back tears.

Breaking the hug, she gently held Pihuโ€™s hands, her voice filled with sincerity.

"Pihu, you are so lucky to have a husband like Raghav. Never let go of this diamondโ€ฆ very few people are blessed with a partner like him."

Pihu nodded, a warm smile gracing her lips.

"Of course notโ€ฆ who would ever let go of a man like him? Indeed, I am lucky to have him."

She gave Tanya's hands a reassuring squeeze. "But I truly believe that God has a perfect life partner in store for you tooโ€”someone who will love you just as much. And that day isnโ€™t far awayโ€ฆ just have faith."

Tanya let out a soft laugh at Pihuโ€™s words.

"Maybeโ€ฆ maybe youโ€™re right." But Pihu could sense the pain behind that laughter, the silent longing hidden beneath her smile.

After a brief pause, Tanya stepped back. "I should get going now, Pihuโ€ฆ I still have to finish packing. Bye."

Pihu bid her goodbye just as Reema entered the room,"Oh, Tanya beta, youโ€™re leaving already? At least have some snacks before you go."

Tanya shook her head politely. "Not this time, Aunty. Maybe some other day. I really have to leave now." With that, she turned and walked away.

As Pihu watched her leave, a storm of thoughts swirled in her mind.

"I was so wrong about Raghavโ€ฆ I didnโ€™t even speak to him properly last night. Oh God, he must be upset with meโ€ฆ and he has every right to be. How am I going to pacify him now?"

And just then, an idea struck her.

At night ..

Raghav returned home late at night, completely exhausted and drained from the dayโ€™s work. As he stepped into the room, he was taken aback by the sight before him. A sweet setup adorned the space, and right in the center lay a big sorry card with a sad emoji drawn on it.

He stood there, staring at the entire arrangement, processing the unexpected gesture.

Just then, a pair of familiar hands wrapped around him from behind, holding him tightly. He didnโ€™t need to turn around to know who it wasโ€”he could recognize her touch instantly. They stood in that position for a while, neither of them speaking a word, letting the silence linger between them.

Finally, Pihu was the first to break the silence. Tightening her hold around him, she whispered, "Sorryโ€ฆ"

Raghav took a deep breath before speaking, his voice calm but firm. "For what?" He gently broke the hug, turning to face her.

Pihu lowered her gaze, guilt evident in her eyes. "I didnโ€™t tell you what happened at the party that dayโ€ฆ" She could clearly feel the anger simmering beneath his exhausted expression.

Raghav looked at her, his disappointment unmistakable. "And why are you apologizing today?"

Pihu hesitated before answering, "Tanya came todayโ€ฆ she apologized to meโ€ฆ" her voice trailed off, unsure of how to continue.

Raghav let out a dry chuckle, his frustration evident.

"Oh, so Tanya came, and thatโ€™s why youโ€™re talking to me today? If she hadnโ€™t come, would you have continued your silent treatment?"

Pihu panicked, seeing the pain in his eyes. "I am sorryโ€ฆ please, donโ€™t be angryโ€ฆ"

But Raghav cut her off, his voice turning heavier.

"I am not angry, Pihuโ€ฆ I am just hurt."

He placed his hands firmly on her shoulders, looking straight into her eyes. "First, you hid things from me about what happened at the partyโ€ฆ and then, without even knowing the full truth, you accused me of lying? Haan?"

He sighed, shaking his head. "Yes, I went to meet Tanya yesterday. But before that, I was out for work, for my project. Did you even ask me before assuming things?"

Pihu stood there, at a loss for words. He was rightโ€”completely right from his side. Tears welled up in her eyes, the weight of her mistake sinking deep.

Raghavโ€™s voice softened, but the hurt remained. "Why, Pihu? Why didnโ€™t you tell me about Tanya? You could have at least told me that she was insulting you, saying things to hurt you. Why did you stay silent?"

Pihu wiped the tears threatening to spill and answered hesitantly,

"She was your good friendโ€ฆ how could I tell you such things about her? I was afraid you wouldnโ€™t believe meโ€ฆ"

Raghavโ€™s jaw clenched as he heard her words.

"Why wouldnโ€™t I believe you, Pihu? Just because she was my childhood friend doesnโ€™t mean she was always right. Do you really think I would blindly support someone just because they are close to me? No, never. Right is right, and wrong is wrongโ€”no matter how close the person is to me."

Pihu stared into Raghavโ€™s eyes, her own brimming with tears.

"Iโ€™m sorry, Raghavโ€ฆ please forgive me. I promise I wonโ€™t hide anything from you again," she whispered, wrapping her arms around him in a tight hug.

But she noticed somethingโ€”he wasnโ€™t hugging her back. Her heart clenched in fear of losing his warmth. Desperately, she held him even tighter, burying herself in his embrace. This time, he finally gave in, his arms encircling her waist, pulling her close.

Once again, she murmured, "Iโ€™m sorryโ€ฆ when I saw you with Tanya yesterday, I thought that youโ€ฆ" Her words trailed off, unsure of how to complete the sentence, afraid of voicing her deepest insecurity.

Raghav gently pulled back just enough to look into her eyes.

"Why did you think that, Pihu? And how could you even imagine that I would leave my precious wife to spend time with Tanya?" His voice was firm yet full of warmth, trying to wash away every trace of doubt from her heart.

They were still locked in each other's embrace as they spoke.

Pihu closed her eyes and hesitated before admitting, "Tanya is more beautiful than me, more confident, bolderโ€ฆ I canโ€™t even do my makeup properlyโ€ฆ" Her voice was small, as if she was ashamed of feeling this way.

Raghav sighed, his hands slowly caressing her back, his touch firm yet tender.

"So?" he whispered, his voice husky.

"No matter how bold, confident, or smart she isโ€ฆ I only want you." His words sent a shiver down her spine.

"For me, you are the most perfect person, Pihu," he continued, his lips brushing against her ear, his voice dropping to a seductive whisper. "And as for beautyโ€ฆ to me, you are the most beautiful woman in the world, my wife."

Before she could respond, he tilted his head and started placing slow, lingering kisses along the side of her neck.

"Am I clear?" he murmured against her skin, sending a deep warmth coursing through her veins.

Pihu didnโ€™t know how to respond, her mind slowly succumbing to the sweet torment of his lips against her skin. Every kiss, every touch sent waves of heat through her body, making her weak in the knees. Butterflies fluttered wildly in her stomach as she clung to his neck for support, her breath hitching with every passing second.

Raghav smirked at her reaction but didnโ€™t stop his teasing. His lips trailed from her neck to her jawline, leaving a tingling sensation in their wake.

In the midst of his ministrations, her saree pallu slipped off her shoulder, exposing her blouse and the smooth skin of her bare stomach. A hint of her cleavage peeked through the fabric, making her suddenly aware of how vulnerable she was in his arms. Her eyes widened as nervousness crept into her heart, and she instinctively let go of his neck to collect her fallen pallu.

But before she could, Raghav caught her hand and gently placed it back around his neck.

"Itโ€™s okay, sweetheart," he murmured, his deep, husky voice sending shivers down her spine. "Itโ€™s just meโ€ฆ no one else. Relaxโ€ฆ donโ€™t feel nervous."

His words did little to calm her racing heart. Instead, a delicious shudder coursed through her as she felt the warmth of his breath near her ear.

Without warning, he pressed his lips to a sensitive spot on her neck and bit down lightly.

"Aah! Raghavโ€ฆ!" Pihu gasped, unable to suppress the startled moan that escaped her lips.

Raghav hummed in satisfaction, soothing the spot with his tongue, his hold on her tightening.

Pihu, now completely flustered, felt her cheeks burn with embarrassment. Her breathing had become uneven, her chest rising and falling rapidly. Eyes shut tight, she tried to regain some composure, but her body betrayed her, leaning into his warmth.

Noticing her dazed state, Raghav smiled against her skin and pressed one last lingering kiss on her cheek before pulling away, ending his sweet assaultโ€”at least for now.

As Raghav watched Pihu, a feeling of pride swelled in his chest. The effect he had on her was clearโ€”her eyes were closed, but her lips curled into a sweet smile, her breathing shallow and fast, and her cheeks were flushed a deep red. The sound of her heartbeat was almost tangible in the stillness of the room, a constant reminder of the intimate connection they shared.

When Pihu finally opened her eyes and noticed his gaze, she immediately grew embarrassed. Her face turned even redder, and she instinctively covered her face with her palms, shy about her state.

Raghav smiled softly, amused by her reaction, and gently reached for the saree pallu she had dropped. He draped it back over her shoulder with care, his touch tender. Then, pulling her into a warm hug, he tried to calm her nerves.

"Thank you," he whispered, his voice a low murmur against her hair.

Pihu, still embarrassed, managed only to ask, "For what?"

Raghav pulled back just enough to look into her eyes, his smile affectionate.

"For the consent," he said, his words holding a deeper meaning.

Pihu understood immediately but was too shy to respond. Instead, she simply lowered her gaze, her heart racing from the intensity of their closeness.

After a moment, Raghav broke the hug and said,

"I know you havenโ€™t had dinner yet. Let me go freshen up, and Iโ€™ll join you. We can eat together."

Pihu, still flustered, nodded but couldn't quite meet his eyes.

"Yes, go ahead... I've made your favorite dish," she said softly, a slight smile tugging at her lips.

Raghav gave a small nod, his eyes glimmering with affection, and made his way to the washroom.

Pihu watched him go, a warmth blooming in her chest, and as he disappeared behind the door, a smile spread across her face. Despite the tension of the moment, their love and understanding had only grown stronger.
