And where I belong...

Time set: The Phantom Menace

(Y/N) Pov.

I sat on the floor by Anakin on the ship. It was a little cold but I saw him shivering beside me so I stood up and handed him the blanket I had. He accepted it and thanked me as I sat back down. I didn't need it as much since I was used to how freezing space was.

The both of us sat in silence mostly but sometimes he asked questions about the jedi and I answered them for him. R2-D2 was by one of the tables and Jar Jar was sleeping, also snoring on a chair. Suddenly the door opened and Padmé came strutting inside the cabin and turned on the transmitter.

"The death toll is catastrophic. We must bow to their wishes. You must contact me!" The blue hologram of a man said.

The message soon ended and Padmé still just stood there. It must be sad that her home planet is slowly getting distroyed, I know what it's like. My home was also gone because of the seperatists. She then turned around and was about to go back when she saw us sitting by the wall.

"Are you two alright?" Padmé asked.

"It's a little cold." Anakin muttered pulling the blanket I gave him further up.

She smiled slightly and grabbed a red blanket on the chair beside her. She walked over to us and crouched down before me, handing me the blanket. I gladly took it and covered myself already feeling a little warmer.

"Thank you." I whispered and she nodded at me with a kind smile.

"You come from a warm planet, Ani. A little too warm for my taste." Padmé said. "Space is cold."

"You seem sad. Is everything okay?" I asked looking up at her.

"The queen is worried. Her people are suffering, dying. They must convince the senate to intervene or...I'm not sure what will happen." She replied looking at the ground. "Well, I must get going. You two are fine here, right?"

"Yeah." Anakin answered as she waved goodbye.

"Everythings going to be okay..." I tried to assure him and he just shrugged.

"I made this for you." Anakin said out of the blue handing me something. "So you'd remember me. I carved it out of japor snippet. It'll bring you good fortune."

I looked down to my hands to see what he gave me. It was a necklace with a piece of the said stone at the end, and a carved out design on it. I looked up meeting Anakin's blue eyes and smiled.

"It's beautiful...thank you." I smiled putting it around my neck. "But I don't need anything to remember you by, Anakin. If you are going to be training as a jedi we'll see each other at times. Besides I care for you and that's never going to change."

"I know, I care for you too...only I-" Anakin started looking down at the ground.

"Miss your mother. I miss my parents too but I promised your mother that I'll be by your side no matter what." I looked over at him. "And I keep my promises."

"Thank you, (Y/N). That means a lot to me." He smiled as I felt the ship shake slightly.

"Come. I think we just entered the atmosphere of Corcusant." I said standing up.

Anakin got up aswell and we made our way towards the cockpit. The ship shook a few times as we walked down the small hallway but we were then inside. The pilot motioned us over to him and started telling Anakin what everything was. I've seen this view a lot since Master Yoda rescued me from Alderaan but it never gets old. The golden lights when you're still in space is truely mesmerizing.

As we looked out the window we could see all kinds of other spaceships going inside the capital and some leaving. Anakin looked around eagerly as the man pointed out the more famous places. When we were slowing down I saw a man standing by where we were about to land.

"And look over there. Senator Palpatine is waiting for us." He mumbled and pushed some buttons.

He ushered us outside since we were landing and we went into the hall. I saw Master Qui-gon and Obi-Wan so I bowed as a form of greeting. Anakin joined me and stood on my right as the door opened with a loud hiss. I saw some people making a line for us as we walked past them towards the senator and chancellor. The queen and Padmé were all behind us while us Jedi's and Anakin, Jar Jar, and another man were at the front. The five of us quickly bowed and moved out of the way so the Queen could pass by.

"It's a great gift to see you alive, Your Majesty. With the communications breakdown we've been very concerned." Senator Palpatine spoke.

I saw Padmé turn towards us and offered me and Anakin a small smile. I gave a smile back to her then turned my attention back to the politicians.

"I'm anxious to hear your report on the situation. May I present Supreme Chancellor Vallorum." Palpatine finsihed motioning to the man beside him.

"Welcome, Your Highness. It's an honour to finally meet you in person." He greeted.

"Thank you, Supreme Chancellor." The queen dressed in black replied.

The two politicians started to lead us away from the ship. Anakin stayed by my side and the two other Jedis were at the end of the line. The chancellor continued to talk to the queen while I just zoned him out.

"I must speak with the jedi council immediately." Qui-gon told Vallorum as him and Obi-Wan stopped. "The situationhas become much more complicated."

The both of us heard this and we looked back at them. I felt like they were talking about Anakin's midiclorian count, I think it pretty high. We stopped and saw them look at us, I tilted my head and stepped forward.

"Master Qui-gon, should I come too?" I asked looking up at him.

"Yes, (Y/N). It would be best if you would come, it's going to be about the supposable sith we saw." He smiled and ushered Anakin back towards the ship.

"Ani...come on!" Padmé yelled over to him.

I took one last glance at Anakin and gave him a smile. He looked back at me a few times before agreeing to sit inside the crusier with the others. Anakin sat down at the front with Jar Jar and I could only watch them fly away towards one of the buildings.

----------------------------

Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon and I all stood in front of the council, once again at the Jedi Temple. Just like he has told me it was about to dark figure at Tatooine. I've even gotten the permission to speak this time, since I saw him too.

"...my only conclusion can be that it was a Sith Lord." Qui-gon said making everyone in the room protest.

"A Sith Lord?" Master Windu exclaimed.

"Impossible! The Sith have been extinct for a millenium." Ki-Adi spoke up.

"The very Republic is threatened, if involved the Sith are." Master Yoda stated making everyone in the room turn towards him.

"I do not believe they could have returned without us knowing."

"Hard to see, the dark side is. Discover who this assassin is, we must."

"I saw his face but I never seen him before." I replied glancing around the room nervously.

I hated having everyones eyes on me. It made me feel nervous when everyone had their attention focused on me.

"What exactly did you see then?" Mace Windu asked raising an eyebrow.

"If I know correctly, I think he was a zabrak?" My statement came out more like a question. "A dathomiri."

"Thank you, for this information." He said giving me a nod.

The council meeting went on for a few more minutes when it was time for us to leave. Obi-Wan and I were about to walk out of the room when I turned around seeing Qui-gon still standing in his spot.

"Master Qui-Gon more to say have you?" Master Yoda asked the jedi.

"With your permission, my Master. I have encountered a vergence in the Force." Qui-gon told him.

Oh, so it's about Anakin aswell.

"A vergence, you say?"

"Located around a person?" The dark skinned Jedi questioned confused.

"A boy...his cells have the highest concentration of midi-chlorians I have seen in a life form, besides (Y/N). It is possible he was conceived by the midi-chlorians." Qui-gon continued.

"You're referring to the prophesy of the two who will bring balance to the Force...you believe one could be this boy?" Master Windu asked.

"I don't pressume..."

I zoned the meeting out for a few seconds so I could think a little. I knew about the prophesy but I never knew it was two people. If one of them could be Anakin because of his high midi-chlorian count then could the other one be me? It was a ridiculous thought so I quickly shook it away.

"Bring him before us, then." Master Windu's voice snapped me out of my inner dialogue.

"Tested he will be."

As the sun was going down the meeting has ended and Obi-Wan went along with Qui-Gon to get Anakin. I stayed at the temple waiting for them so I decided to do a little training so I wouldn't get bored. I walked down the hallways to an empty training room and activated one of the training droids. Igniting my lightsaber I began to attack and block all the attacks of the machine. My blue lightsaber cut through the stick and I had once again beaten the droid.

Many jedi's have told me that my technique reminded them of Master Yoda since I loved to jump around. I immediately cleaned up as soon as I finished and saw Anakin looking at me through the glass. I waved at him and turned off my lightsaber joining him outside in the hallway.

"Hey there, Anakin." I greeted him with a smile.

"Hi, (Y/N)!" He smiled back at me. "That seemed hard, do all jedis do that?"

"It's actually pretty easy once you get used to it. You're here to get your midi-chlorians tested again, right?" I asked locking eyes with him.

"Yeah, I'm really nervous." Anakin replied looking outside to the city.

"It'll be fine. The council may seem scary at first but I'll be there at the back." I told him putting a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

Just like I said Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan came into view. We all went inside the council room once again and I saw Anakin get nervous. I quickly grabbed his hand and gave him a small smile trying to calm him. The four of us all bowed in the form of greeting but then everyone's eyes turned to Anakin. Master Windu has began testing him to see how much he knew, going rapidly through the images.

"A ship...a cup...a speeder." Anakin rambled as fast as he could.

The jedi nodded slowly and lowered the device turning towards Yoda.

"Good, good, young one. How feel you?" Master Yoda asked Anakin.

"Cold, sir."

"Afraid are you?"

"No, sir."

"See through you, we can." Yoda said pointing towards him.

"Be mindful of your feelings..." Master Windu joined in.

"Your thoughts dwell on your mother." Ki-Adi said.

This whole part gave me a small sense of déja vu. When I was brought to the temple a few years ago they have said nearly the same exact things to me.

"I miss her." Anakin replied confused on why that would matter.

Once again I decided to zone out the meeting. I heard Master Yoda tell him the famous line about the dark side of the force he has made me memorise. After a few nore questions Master Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan came back into the room with Anakin's test results. They handed it to Mace Windu and he looked at it carefully.

"Correct you were, Qui-Gon. A high concentration of midi-chlorians do his cells contain." Master Yoda spoke up after he took a look at it also.

"He's to be trained, then." Qui-Gon stated nodding.

I stood beside Obi-Wan and watched as the members all looked at each other.

"No. He will not be trained." Master Windu said making me look at him shocked.

I saw out of the corner of my eye that Anakin's eyes began to form small tears. I felt sad that they have agreed on those terms. He may be older than what they would star at usually but I know he will succeed.

"No?" Qui-Gon asked confused.

"He's too old." The dark skinned master stated.

"He is the chosen one...you must see it." I spoke up but was shushed by one of the other members.

"Clouded, this boy's future is." Yoda started and I knew he tried to see it.

I looked down at the ground frustrated. Why couldn't they just train him and let him be a jedi? I saw Qui-Gon in deep throught aswell but he then walked up front behind Anakin, putting his hands on hus shoulders.

"I will trin him, then. I take Anakin as my Padawan learner." He looked around the room.

"An apprentice, you have, Qui-Gon. Impossible, to take on a second." Yoda told him.

"The code forbids it..."

"Obi-Wan is ready."

"I am ready to face the trials." Obi-Wan stepped forward also.

"He's headstrong...and he has much to learn about the living Force, but he is capable. There is little more he will learn from me." Qui-gon stated looking at his padawan.

"Young Skywalker's fate will be decided later." My Master replied glancing over at me.

"Now is not the time for this...the Senate is voting for a new Spreme Chancellor. Queen Amidala is returning home, which will put pressure on the Federation, and could widen the confrontation." Mace Windu explained motioning with his hands as he spoke.

"And draw out the Queen's attacker."

"Events are moving fast...too fast."

"Go with the Queen to Naboo and discover the identity of the dark warrior. That is the clue we need to unravel this mystery of the Sith." He finished giving us all a stern look.

"May the force be with you." Yoda spoke ending the meeting.

We all bowed and made our way outside, while I catched up to Anakin. I was still very frustrated by their actions so I'll have to medititate on the way to Naboo, to calm myself.

----------------------------

It was now night time and we have once again gotten off a cruiser. This time we were going to board the ship to Naboo with Padmé and the Queen. Anakin and I have went along further and saw R2. The two of us ran over to the droid and decided to talk with it since it could understand us. I saw Obi-Wan argue with Qui-Gon and then went aboard the ship but I stayed with Anakin. We heard them talk about his fate but that's all I could make out.

"Qui-Gon, sir, I do not wish to be a problem." Anakin said furrowing his brows.

"You won't be, Ani...I'm not allowed to train you, so I want you to watch me and be mindful...always remember, your focus determines your reality. Stay close to me and you will be safe." Qui-Gon replied crouching down to be in eye level.

"Master, sir...I heard Yoda talking about midi-chlorians. I've been wondering what are midi-chlorians?" He asked confused.

"Midi-chlorians are a microcopic lifeform that reside within all living cells and communicates with the Force." The jedi answered giving him a small smile.

"They live inside me?" Anakin looked at him weirded out.

"Inside your cells." I chuckled.

"We are symbionts with the midi-chlorians." Qui-Gon finished.

"Symbionts?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Life forms living together for mutual advantage. Without the midi-chlorians, life could not exist, and we would have no knowledge of the Force. They continually speak to you, telling you the will of the Force." The jedi master explained. "When you learn to quiet your mind, you will hear them speaking to you."

"I don't understand..." Anakin mumbled looking down.

"With time and training, Ani...you will." Qui-Gon said and we stood up.

The Queen and her Handmaidens came past us to board the ship. I bowed in a form of greeting and watched as Qui-Gon walked away with Queen Amidala. I looked over to Anakin and quickly nudged him.

"Come on, Anakin! It's time to go." I called over to him.

He smiled and we both ran after the group before the ramp would close. The two of us got comfortable at a sitting area of the space ship and after a few seconds we were off to Naboo.
