I need you to stay strong...
Time set: The Phantom Menace
(Y/N) Pov.
It was now the afternoon, me and Anakin were still fixing the last parts of his racer. It took nearly all day to get this far. Jar-Jar, R2 and C3PO were all helping us with it though. We were both talking until i heard some children laughing.
"Hey Ani!"
"Hi Ani!"
"Wow, a real astro droid. How do you get so lucky!" A boy said.
"That isn't the half of it! Im in the Bonta race tomorrow." Anakin stated proudly.
"What? With this?" The younger boy asked again.
"You've been working on that for years." A girl chimed in.
"It's never going to run." Another said.
I felt the anger boil inside me from their mean comments. How could they doubt Anakin when they barely saw how long we've been working on fixing his racer. I tried to calm myself down by taking long breaths in and out. I couldn't let the hate consume me, it wasn't the jedi way.
"Keep racing Ani, you're going to be bug squash." A boy teased him again while turning around to go with the others.
That was it. My anger towards that kid took the best of me and i started to reach for my lightsaber. I felt a hand on mine, it was Anakin, he shook his head making me stop my actions. Although i didn't grab my weapon i made a little motion with my hand making the boy fall over. I saw him look around confused as he scrambled up running away. Anakin glanced at me and i just smirked making him chuckle. He knew it was me.
"Let's get back to work." I smiled and grabbed some screws.
A boy stayed with us and helped us. Jar-Jar and Padmé were both also fixing some parts, Jar-Jar not so sucsessfully. While he was fidgeting with something Anakin warned him about the purple beam that was a few inches from the creatures face. But Jar-Jar being the clumsy one of us dropped the screw driver and as he leand down to pick it up his head got stuck in the beam. I sighed and rolled my eyes at his stupidness and just chose to ignore him going back to my own world.
"Hey, (Y/N), are you done over there?" Anakin asked peeking out fromthe other side.
"Yeah, you?" I replied looking out aswell.
"Me too." He grinned and started to climb in.
"You don't even know if this thing is going to run." The black haired boy stated kind of worried.
"It will. I think it's time we find out. Here, use this power charge." Qui-gon said as he walked over to us handing Anakin the power charge.
"Yes, sir!" He beamed sitting down the pilot seat.
Qui-gon, the boy and I all moved out of the way. I saw Padmé make her way over to Jar-Jar and pull his hand out of the pod. They both soon joined us and we watched Anakin sucsessfully start his pod racer. I cheered with him as he yelled some stuff what we didn't understamd due to the loud humming.
----------------------------------------------
"Stay still, Ani, let me clean this cut." Qui-gon stated.
It was now night time and Qui-gon, Anakin and me were all outside under the sky full of stars. They were both sitting on the balcony while i was leaning against the wall looking up at the stars. Alderaan must be somewhere up there. If i must say, i miss my home planet. Corcusant is beautiful in it's own way too, but i would do anything to see Alderaan once more. I glanced back at the two and Qui-gon was now bandaging up Anakin's hand.
"There's so many! Do they all have a system of planet's?" Anakin asked looking up at the sky aswell.
"Most of them." Qui-gon answered smiling slightly.
"Has anyone been to them all?" He questioned again still staring up with eyes full of wonder.
"Not likely." The jedi said.
"I want to be the first one to see them all!" Anakin exclaimed grinning.
"Ani! Bed time!" Shmi yelled from the house.
"There, good as new." Qui-gon was just finishing up as Anakin yelped a little.
"Ani! Im not going to tell you again." His mother stated sternly walking past the open doorway.
"What are you doing with it?" He asked once again motioning to his blood in the small glass.
"Checking your blood for infections. Go on, you have a big day tomorrow, Anakin. Sleep well." Qui-gon replied shooing the boy away.
As he ran inside taking one last glance at me Qui-gon inserted the sample in a device. He was not checking his blood for infections, he was checking his midi-chlorian count. Of course i'd know, i went through it aswell.
I walked back over to the wall and once again leaned against it. My small form was almost completely consumed by the brown cloak i had. I turned my focus back on Obi-wan's master as he turned on the comlick.
"Obi-wan?" He called.
"Yes, master?" His padawan's voice answered back.
"I need an analysis of this blood sample im sending you. I need a midi-chlorian count." Qui-gon explained putting the sample in the device.
"The reading is off the chart. It's over 20,000, even master Yoda doesn't have a midi-chlorian count that high." Obi-wan's confused voice rang out from the device.
"No jedi has, except for one." Qui-gon glanced at me.
"What does that mean?" I asked now curious about the subject.
"I'm not sure." He answered turning his attention to Shmi who was standing at the door beside me.
If Anakin had a midi-chlorian count that high, it surely meant something. Nobody had one that high, except for me. Mine was just nearly at 20,000 a little bit under but almost. Shmi turned to me seeing i was still awake.
"Oh, (Y/N). It's getting really late, you should go to bed aswell." She said motioning me inside.
"Alright. Goodnight master Qui-gon, Shmi." I bowed to the jedi and nodded to Anakin's mother as a sign.
I strode inside and found a comfortable place. I settled down and after closing my eyes i immediately fell into a deep slumber.
-next morning-
The sun was shining intensly on the day of the race. I was riding to the arena with Anakin, while Padmé went with Shmi. The creature stopped the ride so we could get off. Suddenly we could see Watto flying towards us. Annoyance filled me as soon as my eyes landed on his form, i could feel Anakin getting frustrated aswell. Watto spoke to him in the language i didn't u derstand but by the face of the boy next to me i could tell it was bad.
"What was that all about?" Anakin asked Qui-gon as he walked up to us.
"I'll tell you later." He answered simply.
"This is so wizard, Ani. If sure you'll do it this time." The boy from yesterday said.
"Do what?" I questioned confused.
"Finish the race, of course." He answered while me and Anakin shared a look.
"You've never won a race?" Padmé asked worried.
"Well not exactly..." Anakin trailed off.
"Not even finished?" She asked further.
"Kitster's right. I will this time!" He grinned slinging and arm around the boy.
"Of course, you will." Qui-gon said walking up behind him putting his jands on his shoulder.
He sent me and Padmé a look to tell us not to worry. Although i was still a little worried but the girl next to me seemed skeptical also.
After a few minutes i was in the arena with Anakin and the boy walking beside the pod. We made it to the start line and joined all of the other racers. We all helped Anakin give the pod a few more upgrades. A creature then came over to us, him and Anakin exchanged a few words.
"You all set, Ani?" Qui-gon asked coming over.
"Yep." Anakin grinned.
"Good luck, Anakin. I now you can do it." I told him giving him a hug.
"Thanks, (Y/N)." He replied returning my embrace.
After we parted Qui-gon helped Anakin into the pod. He also handed him his helmet while bending down to speak to him.
"Remember, concentrate on the moment. Feel, don't think. Use your instinct's." He whispered loud enough for me to hear.
"I will!" Anakin replied pulling on his helmet.
"May the Force be with you." Me and Qui-gon said at the same time.
We both siad our goodbyes to Anakin and walked over to the stands. They started to announce something about Jabba the Hut and that the race could start, that was the only thing i could pick up, honestly. We watched as the racers all slowly turned their pods on.
"Is he nervous?" Shmi asked worried about his son.
"He's fine." Qui-gon answered simply.
"You Jedi's are way to reckless. The queen is not-" Padmé started only to get cut off.
"The queen trust's my judgement, young handmaiden. You should too." He continued bending down to her height.
"You assume too much." She mumbled.
"Trust him, Padmé. He's one of the best master's you could wish for, he knows what he's doing." I told her making her only sigh.
We walked over to the side of the stand where we could see and it slowly rose. I glanced down at Anakin as he started the pod and only hoped for the best, so nothing will happen to him. I felt my nervousness rise in my chest and tried to calm myself down, not quite sucsessfully.
The race was about to begin.
