You're not in the dark...
Time set: Attack Of The Clones
.
(Y/N) POV.
Anakin and I have finally landed back at the building where Padmé's apartment is located. While cracking jokes and talking about our weird encounters on any of our missions, we made our way up to her floor. Turning on the familiar halls we heard Padmé's voice talking with Jar Jar. The two of us decided to stay by the door.
"I'm taking an extended leave of absence. It will be your responsibility to take my place in the Senate." Padmé stated. "Representative Binks, I know I can count on you."
"Mesa honored to be taken on dissa heavy burden. Mesa accept this with muy muy humility and da..." Jar Jar beamed trying to be formal.
"Jar Jar. I don't wish to hold you up. I'm sure you have a great deal to do." She cut him off.
"Of course, M'Lady." He replied with a bow.
Jar Jar walked out of the room and Padmé finally turned to us. She strode in our way with a frown drawn on her face.
"I don't like the idea of hiding." Padmé muttered making her way to her bedroom.
The two of us followed her in to see Dormé helping her with her packing. She rushed over to her and grabbed a set of neatly folded clothes.
"Don't worry, now that the Council has ordered an investigation, it won't take Master Obi-Wan long to find this bounty hunter." Anakin said walking around.
"I haven't worked for a year to defeat the Military Creation Act not to be here when its fate is decided!" Padmé scoffed obviously frustrated.
"Sometimes we have to let go of our pride and do what is requested of us." He continued.
I looked at him with a weird look and Padmé glanced up at him aswell.
"Anakin," She said. "You've grown up."
"Don't get me wrong...Obi-Wan is a great mentor, as wise as Master Yoda and as powerful as Master Windu. I am truly thankful to be his apprentice." Anakin rambled on while playing with an object he saw.
I formed my lips into a line and zoned out of the conversation. I walked over to Dormé and helped her pick out the dresses she pointed to. Using the force I levitated the now folded dress to Padmé who gave me a greatful smile. I was about to grab another item until I heard her gasp.
"Oh, no!" Padmé exclaimed.
"What is it?" Dormé and I asked turning to her immediately.
"(Y/N), you need to pack aswell!" She told me rushing to her closet. "And you need something nice too, not just these robes."
"Wait-"
"Hold on, let me find you a dress!" Padmé yelled looking at all the clothes.
"A dress?" I mumbled then my eyes widened. "I beg your pardon?"
"Perfect!" She beamed turning to me with one in her hand.
I scanned the dress in her arms and my eyes widened to a size I didn't even know they could. It was absolutely stunning. The dress itself was (F/C), with beautiful (Y/C) colour designs on it which reached my ankles. It had short sleeves and it seemed to be quite flowy.
"Oh, I can't possibly accept--" I started shaking my head.
"You need to blend in on Naboo!" She smiled at me shoving the dress in my hands. "Now shoo! Go change and pack your stuff. Anakin, you go and help her."
"But!" I prostested.
"No, buts! Go along now." Padmé yelled as she shoved the two of us out of her room.
She gave us a wave and closed the door making me stare in disbelief. I looked down at the dress in my hands and let out a sigh.
"Well, seems like I don't have a choice but to get this weird thing on." I mumbled looking up at Anakin who seemed to be in a daze. "Come on, this way."
He shook his head and followed me towards the room Padmé gave me. I opened the door with the force and layed the dress on my bed, while grabbing a random suitcase from the closet. I threw it on the bed and started running around looking for clothes and other things I needed.
"Anakin! Earth to Anakin." I snapped my fingers in his face.
"Wha- yes?" He asked.
"Don't zone out so much, and make yourself useful, idiot." I said with a grin jabbing my hand towards the pile of clothes on my bed.
"What do you even want me to do with them?" Anakin furrowed his brows.
"Oh, goodness me." I mumbled. "Fold them and just throw them in the suitcase."
"Okay, okay." Anakin chuckled.
I rolled my eyes and grabbed the dress, walking into the bathroom and closing the door. I quickly got out of my robes and put on the dress Padmé has given me. Once I looked in the mirror my eyed widened.
"What..." I mumbled looking at myself while turning around. "Where the hell did all this come from?"
I must say the dress was beautiful but it was weird to see my body. Under all the robes I never saw myself completely but with this dress I sure did. I let out a chuckle and styled my hair into a (Y/C).
"(Y/N), I think I messed up something!" Anakin yelled.
"Oh, god. What did you do?" I answered walking over to him.
"I have no idea, I tried to fold them but--" He started then suddenly stopped.
"Anakin, what is it?" I questioned raising an eyebrow.
"Uh..."
"Is there something on my face? What is it! Is there a bug, oh, I hate bugs!" I rambled trying to get him to talk. "Anakin!"
"No, it's nothing..." He mumbled. "The dress..."
"Oh, god. Does it look weird? I knew it would look weird, I never wear dresses." I said to myself while turning to the mirror.
"No, you look beautiful." Anakin replied quickly.
"I- What?" I asked with a slightly red face.
"You heard me." He answered walking towards me.
"Oh, uh...thanks?" I chuckled nervously. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Like what?" Anakin questioned glancing at me.
"Like that." I pointed out. "Anyways, I still need to pack because I have no idea what you did...but it's an absolute mess."
"Hey!"
I threw a pillow at his face and a laugh escaped my lips. I quickly went over to the suitcase and tried to save the mess Anakin just did. After about five minutes of packing I was finally finished.
"Okay, we're done." I let out a breath. "I still don't know what was so hard about this, that you couldn't do."
"Hey, don't make fun of my folding!" Anakin laughed as he grabbed the bag.
"I'm sorry to break it to you, but that was everything except folded clothes." I teased him as we walked outside.
I have also gotten a (Y/C) coloured cloak on me until we would arrive on Naboo. Anakin seemed to get the same idea since he had a white one over his shoulders. The two of us continued to walk towards the small group at the hanger.
"(Y/N)!" Padme exclaimed. "That dress looks amaizing on you."
"Thanks, Padmé." I replied with a smile.
"(Y/N), Anakin. It's great that you finally joined us." Obi-Wan stepped forward.
"Of course, Master. It took a while because of (N/N) here..." Anakin nudged my shoulder with a small smirk.
"Oh, you little! You were the one who couldn't fold a shirt." I shoved him back.
I saw Obi-Wan look over to Padmé with a bored look while she only chuckled. A bus arrived to the hanger and the six of us got on bored, Dormé and Captain Typho joined us aswell. The four of them sat in silence watching Anakin and I playfully argue on about how he couldn't fold clothes.
Within a few minutes of flying around in the big traffic we have finally arrived to the spaceport. The bus stopped and opened the doors which allowed us to get off.
"Be safe, m'lady." Captain Typho said standing up.
"Thank you, Captain. Take good care of Dormé..." Padmé replied with a small smile.
"He'll be safe with me." She answered.
"You'll be fine."
"It's not me, M'Lady. I worry about you. What if they realise you've left the capital?" Dormé asked visibly concerned.
"Then my Jedi protector's will have to prove how good they are." Padmé said looking over to us with a smile.
"Anakin, you two stay put on Naboo. Do not attract any attention. Do absolutely nothing without checking in with me or the Council." Obi-Wan pulled us aside.
"Yes, Master." Anakin nodded.
"I will get to the bottom of this plot quickly, M'Lady. You'll be back here in no time." He continued now turning to Padmé.
"I will be most grateful for your speed, Master Jedi." She replied.
"It's time to go, Padmé." I stated getting ahold of my bag.
"I know." She mumbled.
Anakin grabbed two bags and we started to walk out of the bus. Obi-Wan cleared his throat one more time making the two of us turn back.
"May the Force be with you." He said.
"May the force be with you too, Master Kenobi." I smiled back.
I grabbed ahold of my luggage once more and the three of us continued our way.
"Suddenly, I'm afraid..." Padmé muttered.
"This is my first assignment on my own. I am too." Anakin chuckled.
"Oh, wow. Really? This is atleast my 80th alone." I shrugged looking at the passing ships.
"Atleast we have Artoo with us." Anakin pointed to the droid.
Artoo beeped in response which made the three of us laugh. We made our way to the ship and got aboard trying to find ourselfs a suitable place. Soon enough the ship has took off and we were on our way to Naboo.
----------------------------
I sat with Padmé at a small table while Artoo went to get us food. Anakin went to sleep a while before we even got into lightspeed but I guess he was just tired.
"No, no, Mom, no..." He mumbled in his sleep.
Artoo suddenly came back with three bowls and put them on the table. I looked back over to Anakin and saw him getting even more restless. I leaned over to him and nudged him slightly.
"What?" Anakin asked waking up with a start.
"You seemed to be having a nightmare." I told him with a look of concern. "Are you hungry?"
"Thanks." He mumbled grabbing the bowl I gave him.
"We went into lightspeed a while ago. Are you sure you're fine?" I asked once again.
"Yes, I'm okay, (Y/N)." Anakin replied with a small smile.
"I'm back!" Padmé exclaimed, then she saw us sitting close to eachother. "Did I interupt something?"
"Oh, no. It's nothing." I dismissed the question.
"I look forward to seeing Naboo again. I've thought about it every day since I left. It's by far the most beautiful place I've ever seen..." Anakin said out of the blue.
"You were just a little boy then. It may not be as you remember it, time changes your perception." Padmé replied.
"I think time has given me much more mature feelings to enhance my perception." He continued.
I furrowed my brows as I listened to him talk. What was he trying to say?
"It must be difficult having sworn your life to the Jedi...not being able to visit the places you like--" Padmé let out a sigh looking at the two of us.
"Well, I mean...I would die to go back to Alderaan again." I mumbled under my breath. "I haven't been there since the separatists attacked. Sorry, continue."
"Or do the things you like..." She said.
"Or be with the people I love." Anakin exclaimed.
What I didn't notice was that he glanced my way when he said that.
"Are you allowed to love? I thought that was forbidden for a Jedi." Padmé asked now confused.
"Yes, it is. Master Yoda has been very clear on me with that one." I answered reliving the memory.
"Attachment is forbidden. Possession is forbidden. Compassion, which I would define as unconditional love, is central to a Jedi's life, so you might say we're encouraged to love." Anakin explained his opinion.
"You've changed alot, Anakin." I told him.
"You haven't changed a bit. You're exactly the way I remember you in my dreams." He replied hesitantly.
I turned to him with a weirded out look drawn on my face. I glanced at Padmé and she only raised her eyebrows.
"You dreaming about your mother earlier, weren't you?" I asked trying to change the subject.
"Yes...I left Tatooine so long ago, my memory of her is fading. I don't want to lose it. Recently I've been seeing her in my dreams...vivid dreams...scary dreams. I worry about her." Anakin explained.
The two of us looked at him with sympathy. It made me think of my nightmares. There were two that I continued to dream about, one I have already told Anakin about and the other about someone I lost a long time ago.
"They will pass soon, I hope." I muttered putting a hand on his.
Within a few more minutes the ship got out of lightspeed and we entered the atnosphere of Naboo. It flew down to the landing space and everyone onboard git ready to exit. The three of us, along with Artoo, stood at the left door and once it opened we stepped out into the fresh air.
"Wow, it's been a long time since I've been here." I beamed looking around.
"Oh, I still remember you being so tiny." Padmé teased me.
"You were shorter too!" I shot back.
The three of us continued to talk while Padmé led the way to the palace. Anakin and I looked around in amazement as we got to the door. A guard stepped forwards opening it and we walked into the throne room seeing the queen sit there eith a few more people. After a small greeting everyone took their place while me and Anakin were left standing.
"How many systems have joined Count Dooku and the separatists?" The Queen asked.
"About two hundred. And more are leaving the Republic every day. If the Senate votes to create an army, I'm sure it's going to push us into a civil war." Padmé answered.
"It's unthinkable! There hasn't been a full-scale war since the formation of the Republic!" A man scoffed at the news.
"Do you see any way, through negotiations, to bring the separatists back into the Republic?" She asked once more.
"Not if they feel threatened. The separatists don't have an army, but if they are provoked, they will move to defend themselves. I'm sure of that. And with no time or money to build an army, my guess is they will turn to the Commerce Guilds or the Trade Federation for help." Padmé continued on with her speech.
I zoned out the conversation since I wasn't the one who would get into politics. I found it full of drama, and I didn't like getting in conflicts. I was snapped out of my thoughts when everyone stood up.
"In the meantime, we must consider your own safety." The Queen said walking towards us.
The man with the greying hair signalled to the other people who stood up and left the room.
"What are your suggestions, Master Jedi?" He asked the two of us.
"(Y/N) and Anakin are not Jedi's yet, Counsellor. They're still Padawan learner's. I was thinking..." Padmé replied instead of us.
"Hold on a minute!" Anakin protested.
"Shush, you whiny idiot." I slapped his arm.
"Excuse me! I was thinking I would stay in the Lake Country. There are some places up there that are very isolated." She continued after giving him a glare.
"Excuse me? I am in charge of security here, M'Lady." Anakin exclaimed catching up to them.
"We are." I coughed out giving him a look.
"Ani, my life is at risk, and this is my home. I know it very well...that is why we're here. I think it would be wise for you to take advantage of my knowledge in this instance." Padmé explained.
"Sorry, M'lady." He replied after taking a deep breath.
"Ignore him..." I whispered to Padmé who let out a chuckle as response.
The man, the Queen and Padmé exchanged a few words to eachother.
"Padmé, I had an audience with your father yesterday. I told him what was happening. He hopes you will visit your mother before you leave...your family's very worried about you." The Queen told her.
"Of course." Padmé answered with a smile.
----------------------------
After a while Padmé had gotten into a beautiful but simple dress, Anakin had his jedi robes back on while I stayed in the dress she gave me. I had to make a good first impression.
"There's my house!" Padmé exclaimed as we turned into a side street.
I saw two kids playing outside the said house. They turned around and gasped when they saw Padmé.
"Aunt Padme! Aunt Padme!" The two yelled running to her.
"Ryoo! Pooja!" Padmé beamed hugging them both. "I'm so happy to see you! This is (Y/N) and Anakin. Anakin, (Y/N), this is Ryoo, and this is Pooja."
I gave them a small wave and they grinned up at the two of us. There were two beeps behind us which alerted the two girls.
"Artoo!"
Padmé led us into the house and I looked around amazed. It was a beautiful building. We walked into a different room where I saw someone working.
"Padmé! Welcome back, dear." A man came rushing in.
"Father!" Padmé exclaimed hugging him.
Anakin and I stood there awkwardly as the two greeted eachother.
"Ah, you must be the two Jedi!" He turned to us. "I'm Ruwee and you must be (Y/N) and Anakin."
"Yes, it's nice to meet you." I smiled shaking his hand.
A girl then came in and put a bowl on the table. She looked a lot like Padmé so I guessed she was her sister.
"They're eating over at Jev Narran's later, Mom. They just had a snack. They'll be fine." She yelled over her shoulder then saw us.
"(Y/N), Anakin this is my sister, Sola." Padmé introduced her.
"Hello." Sola greeted with a smile.
"Hi." Anakin and I replied.
Suddenly a woman came in with some food aswell. She stopped once she saw us.
"You two are just in time for dinner. I hope you're hungry." She said setting down another bowl.
"A little." Anakin replied.
"I had a little food on the ship, that'll do for the day." I answered.
"They're being polite, Mom. We're starving." Padmé explained which made her laugh.
"You came to the right place at the right time. Sit down." Ruwee grinned.
I gave a smile back and sat down at the table. Ruwee and Jobal sat at the two ends, Padmé and Sola infront of me while Anakin sat beside me. Everyone soon started to pass food to eachother.
"Honey, it's so good to see you safe. We were so worried." Jobal told Padmé.
She gave her mother a dirty look and turned back to her food.
"Dear..." Ruwee said with a small smile.
"I know, I know...but I had to say it. Now it's done." She replied.
"Well, this is exciting! Do you you two know that you are the first couple my sister's ever brought home? Other than her friends, of course." Sola beamed out of the blue.
I nearly chocked on the water I was drinking and Anakin almost spat out something from his plate.
"Oh, they aren't a couple! They are the Jedi the senate assigned to protect me, also they are forbidden to love." Padmé explained quickly.
"Yeah, he's not my boyfriend." I coughed out.
"Yeah, yeah...and she's not my girlfriend. Not a chance...yeah." Anakin ranted.
"I'm sorry, but it's so obvious that something is going on between you two." Sola replied with a smirk then a frown washed over her face. "Ow, what was that for!"
"Drop the subject." Padmé whispered to her sister with warning eyes.
"A bodyguard? Oh, Padme! They didn't tell us it was that serious!" Jobal turned to Padmé.
"It's not, Mom, I promise. Anyway, Anakin and (Y/N)'s a friend. I've known them for years. Remember that little boy and girl who were with the Jedi during the blockade crisis?" She answered and they nodded. "They grew up."
"Honey, when are you going to settle down? Haven't you had enough of that life? I certainly have!" Jobal continued.
"Mom, I'm not in any danger." Padmé rolled her eyes.
"Is she?" Ruwee asked turning to us.
"Yes...I'm afraid she is." Anakin answered while I nodded along.
"But not much."
After a while of talking we have finished eating. I helped Sola, Jobal and Padmé clean while Ruwee went to talk with Anakin. I was in the kitchen floating the plates to Sola who put them away one by one.
"So, how come there is nothing between you two?" Sola asked me.
"Who?" I replied with a raised eyebrow.
"Anakin and you." She explained.
"Oh, uh...the Jedi code forbids any relationship." I answered shrugging.
"Come on! I saw the way you look at each other." Sola continued with a grin.
"Mom, can you tell her to stop bothering (Y/N)!" Padmé exclaimed giving Sola a glare.
"Well, maybe you haven't noticed the way he looks at her." She raised her eyebrows in a teasing way.
"Cut it out." Padmé warned her and I gave her a small smile.
"Sola's just concerned...we all are." Jobal told Padmé.
"Oh, Mom, you're impossible. What I'm doing is important." She groaned.
"You've done your service, Padmé. It's time you had a life of your own. You're missing so much!" Her mother continued.
"Yeah, of course. (Y/N), could you please help me pack?" Padmé asked grabbing my wrist and tugging me along.
"Wait, where are we going?" I questioned confused.
"The house by the lake! Were you not listening or were you too busy talking with Anakin?" She grinned at me as we entered her room.
"Oh, god. Not you too." I laughed.
"I'm just joking." She chuckled.
After a few minutes of packing Anakin joined us aswell.
"Don't worry, this won't take long." Padmé assured us.
"Nothing takes as long as Anakin folding clothes." I let out a laugh then felt someone wack my head. "Hey!"
Anakin gave me a cocky smirk and continued to pace around.
"I just want to get there before dark." There was a small pause. "You still live at home."
"I move around so much, I've never had a place of my own. Official residences have no warmth. I feel good here. I feel at home." Padmé replied.
"I never had a real home. Home was always where my Mom was." Anakin said picking up a framed hologram. "Is this you?"
"Ah, little Padmé! Let me see!" I beamed rushing over.
I looked at the hologram and indeed saw a probably 8 year old Padmé with a few creatures.
"That was when I went with the Relief Group to Shadda-Bi-Boran. Their sun was imploding, and the planet was dying. I was helping to relocate the children. See that little one I'm holding? His name was N'a-kee-tula, which means sweetheart. He was so full of life,. All those kids were. I did everything I could to save him, but he died... they all did. They were never able to adapt... to live off their native planet." Padmé told us the story.
I walked over to another one to see a slightly older version of her in robes and a stern look on her face.
"My first day as an Apprentice Legislator. Notice the difference?" Padmé asked with a chuckle.
I laughed and set it back down and saw her close the bag.
"Okay, I'm ready to go."
