Chapter 17 - Perfect End to A Perfect Day

"I see you made it here before me," he chuckled, the moonlight lighting up his features perfectly.

I took in the sight of him standing there before me - his porcelain skin even whiter in the darkness, full plump lips velvet soft, small brown curls fanning across his forehead. He was...breathtaking. I hadn't notice he had stepped closer until we were only inches apart. His fingers reached out to brush along my cheek and I shuddered at his touch, gooseflesh popping up across my skin where his fingers made contact.

"What are you staring so intently at?" he teased me, his voice husky.

I tried to shrug, shake my head, something, anything to make him not think I'd completely lost it but all I could do was stare at the beautiful Wolfblood before me. I was entranced by those brown eyes, so much like warm chocolate. In the next moment, I didn't even think about what I was doing. I acted on instinct. And in retrospect, maybe that was why we were so drawn to each other. Even if I wasn't a Woflblood, I always went with my instincts...just like a wolf.

My lips pressed to his, gliding across that velvet mouth I'd so longed to kiss. Apparently, Matei didn't think either. He kissed me back instantly, hands cupping my cheeks gently. His lips moved across mine, perfectly molding together - a perfect fit. He tasted like cotton candy and vanilla. My hands reached up to rest on his wrists and he deepened the kiss.

I could feel his skin was so warm under my fingertips and part of me wondered if that was the wolf in him. His hands moved down my face to my arms and finally to rest on my hips, pulling me flush against him. I let out a sigh as his mouth kissed mine over and over again, the moonlight trickling down over us. Running my fingers through those silky-soft curls at the nape of his neck, I reveled in the taste of him. Finally, when we were both out of breath, we pulled away and my eyes opened into brown orbs. Our kiss had left me more than a little bit speechless and I didn't know just what to say in the silence that ensued.

But Matei was the first to break the silence.

"You don't know how long I've wanted to do that..." he breathed out and I laughed, the sound loud in the silence of the night.

He grinned down at me, chuckling and I smiled up at him.

"It's time for me to be getting back," I told him, "I already met Emelia. Even though, you know, you were late and all..."

He smirked, "Is that so, Miss Hargreaves?"

I nodded, arching my eyebrows while still smiling.

"You were very tardy, Mr. Covaci," I admonished playfully, poking him in the chest and he grabbed me by the hand, making me blush.

"Well, I'll just have to make it up to you then," he said, that huskiness returning to his voice, giving me shivers, "I'll come pick you up tomorrow, alright? I'm going to the Kafe with T.J. and Selina. Come with me?"

I laughed at his adorable puppy-dog eyes and nodded, "Sure. Why not?"

He grinned instantly and I just shook my head at his antics.

"'Night, Matei," I said as I turned to leave.

Wind in the trees made leaves float down on the path in front of me that led through the park, carrying his hushed last words to me as I walked away.

"Goodnight, beautiful."
