Chapter Five // Home
Home - Philip Philips
Its been a few weeks at the least and I haven't seen Ponyboy or Soda since the night they bought me dinner. I haven't even bought my supplies yet because I need to eat and keep hydrated more than draw.
Showering has been a struggle so lets say that I'm not the cleanest person right now. I probably smell like some homeless gut who digs through the dumpster.
I run a hand through my greasy hair and slip on my beanie, covering my dirty ass hair. My glasses slip slightly so I do my best to wipe the dirt and oil off my face, putting my glasses back on.
People stare at me as I walk past, some with looms of disgust and others of sympathy, neither of those things I want or need at the moment. Suddenly, someone bumps into me and I lose my footing, falling onto the ground with a thud.
"There you are Johnnycake! I've been looking all over town for you," I hear Ponyboy exclaim.
I look up at him and he's grinning widely, taking my hands and pulling me onto my feet. I smile softly at him as he pulls me into a small hug.
He pulls away quickly and scrunches his nose up, looking at me oddly. I sigh softly and nod my head in understanding.
"Geez Johnnycake, you smell like you haven't bathed in days. Did you lose your house may or something and not shower," Ponyboy jokes.
"U-uh yeah... I-i did and I don't know how to get the door open," I lie.
"Well come on, your coming to my house and showering, getting clean clothes, and something to eat," Ponyboy tells me. "And no is not an answer I'm willing to take from you."
"Yes Ponyboy," I murmur softly.
He grabs my hand and squeezes it, pulling me along the crowded streets. I practically cling to his side, not wanting to get separated and lost on the large wave of people.
I feel overwhelmed and my head begins to spin, causing me to trip over my feet and almost hit the ground several times. Ponyboy doesn't seem to notice and continues dragging me down the street.
"How far away is your house," I ask him.
"Not to far away from here. Maybe a block at the most but I promise you its not as awful as it seems," Ponyboy says chuckling lightly.
I just nod and continue to literally jog at his side trying to keep up. He has long legs compared to mine and I can't seem to be quick enough.
I pant lightly and he stops, looking at me oddly before smirking softly. My face goes bright red and he lifts me up bridal style, holding me tightly.
"You're light as a feather man, do you not eat too much," Ponyboy asks.
"I-i don't eat a lot," I say.
"Why not? Don't you get hungry," he questions.
"O-of course but I just don't get that hungry so I don't rally eat a lot," I tell him.
"Well your going to eat at my house, even if its not a lot," he says smiling.
He starts walking down the street again and I rest my head on his chest lightly, letting my body relax a bit. Ponyboy breaths softly and his heartbeat is steady, causing me to relax more.
I close my eyes and breath softly, kind of moving closer to him. He places a hand on my back and my face heats up more.
I feel tired and stifle a yawn, not wanting to have him think I was comfortable with him carrying me. Anyway, I feel reality slip away and the noises fade as well as I fall asleep.

"Johnnycake," a faint voice murmurs soothingly. "Johnnycake. Wake up bud."
I slowly open my eyes and look up slightly, seeing Ponyboy smile softly at me. He smiles more once he sees I'm awake and waves.
"S-sorry that I fell asleep," I murmur tiredly. "I-i tried not to."
"Its alright, we just got home a few minutes ago and my big brother Darry said you could spend the night. So you wanna stay over," he asks me hopefully.
"I-i don't wanna be a bother," I say looking him.
"You won't be, I promise. Please," he asks again.
"O-okay," I say tiredly.
"Yay! It for right now, stand up and I'll show you to the bathroom to shower. I'll get you some clothes you can wear for now and I'll let you take a nap before lunch. Sound good?"
"Mhm," I hum.
"Great."
I stand up slowly and he leads me to the bathroom, turning on the water and smiling. I send a weak smile back and he chuckles.
"Hop in and I'll be back in a few minutes with some clothes," he says.
Ponyboy turns on his heel and walks out, closing the door behind him. I sigh softly and turn to the shower, pulling off my beanie and my glasses, setting them on the sink.
Quickly, I peel off my dirty clothes and let them fall to the floor, getting into the shower carefully, closing the curtain behind me. Instantly, the warm water hits me and my muscles relax and I feel the dirt practically slide off of me.
Looking around the shower, I find the shampoo and grab it, opening it and squirting some into my hands. I reach up and knead it through my hair, humming softly at the nice feeling.
The door creaks open and I stop moving, hearing Ponyboy set some clothes down and the door closing. I peek my head out of the shower to see my dirty clothes gone and smile softly.
I continue to knead my hands through my hair, humming more. After a few minutes, I rinse my hair out and sigh, my head feeling lighter without all the grease in it.
Turning slightly, I find a rag and grab it, finding the body wash and squirting some into the rag. Carefully, I wash my body and close my eyes slightly.
After doing that, I rinse off and turn the water off, getting out and grabbing the towel Ponyboy left and dry off quickly. I pick up the clothes Ponyboy left on the toilet seat and pull them on, giggling as I look into the mirror to see the sweater a bit big.
It was cozy though and I love how it smells. Odd enough as it sounds, I really do.
It smells of lemongrass and sage, causing me to want to bury my face in it and relax. Looking around carefully, I take the sleeve of the sweater and breath in the scent and smile softly.
It smells like Ponyboy... It smells almost exactly like him...
I slip my glasses back on and pull the beanie over my damp hair, opening the door quietly. Silently, I slip out the door and down the hall to see Ponyboy and Soda sitting on the couch.
Another boy was there too, it must be Ponyboy's older brother. They all turn and look at me, causing a blush to creep onto my face from the attention.
I scurry over and sit next to Ponyboy, shifting slightly. I feel Ponyboy's arm wrap around my shoulder.
"Still tired Johnnycake," Ponyboy asks softly.
"Y-yeah," I stutter out.
He nods and stands up, pulling me with him and leading me to a room. I look at him and he smiles.
"This is my room," Ponyboy states. "You can nap here and I'll get you later."
Ponyboy pulls the covers back and walks out, closing the door softly behind him. I take off my glasses and beanie, setting them on his desk and get into the bed.
I pull the blankets around my and curl up into them, breathing in deeply. The sheets and everything smell like him...
Closing my eyes, I nuzzle my head into the covers and breath softly, slowly drifting off to sleep.

I open my eyes slightly, only to be met with a body. They had their head buried into my chest and they breathed softly.
Slowly, I pull them closer to me and smile softly, giggling lightly. The person shifts and whines softly, burying their face further into my chest.
After a few minutes, the person looks up and kisses my lips softly, pulling away after a few seconds. My eyes widen slightly at who it was.
Ponyboy...
