IT WAS A RATHER uneventfull morning when Violet was sitting on Elena Gilbert's bed, watching her how she was searching through her closet.
"Urggh, I hate everything in my closet. I have nothing to wear to homecoming!", the brunette exclaimed loudly while she pulled out an old dress of her.
"So, don't go. Let's stay home, order take-out and over analyze hieroglyphic thingies with Alaric", Bonnie proposed hopefully to her two friends, while she sat down on Elena's bed.
Violet scoffed immediately while she sat up on the bed and scooted towards the edge, where Bonnie was currenty sitting, "We have to go! Caroline will kill us if we don't!"
Bonnie rolled with her eyes while she looked down onto the pictures of the hieroglyphics from the cave, "Well, Caroline actually has a date."
Elena sighed quietly while she sat down next to them, her gaze then slowly wandered over to Bonnie, "You know that you can talk to me about Jeremy, right?"
Bonnie shook her head at her, "I don't need to talk about it. He fell in love with his ghost girlfriend and lied about it. What's done is done."
"You have to talk about it. He hurt you, Bonnie. I'm mad at him too", Elena stated while she gave her friend a pointed look.
In return Bonnie gave Elena a small and sad smile. "You're mad at your little brother. You yell at him a little, teach him a life lesson. You can't really be mad at like I'm mad."
"And you shouldn't have to be! He's your brother", the dark skinned girl told her, before she shrugged and looked down onto her hands. "So no, I can't really talk to you about it."
Elena gave her an understanding look and went back to her closet, before Violet grabbed Bonnie's hand. "I'll always be there for you, Bon."
The two friends exchanged a small smile, before the witch nodded at her thankfully.
"I think Ethan is done with me", Violet suddenly blurted out while she stared into thrle distance. Her friends heads immediately snapped towards the girl, "What?"
Elena gave her a disbelieving look, "But your the couple— you know, the one we all thought would stay together forever."
"Why would he ever be done with you?", Bonnie suddenly questioned her. Violet didn't want them to know about her kiss with Damon, "Well— I did something really bad— and I can't talk about it."
"Well, whatever you did— I'm sure he'll come around", Bonnie stated while she patted her friends arm and Violet let out a deep sight before she got onto her feet once more and gave them a confident look, "Okay, let's got shopping."
It didn't took the group very long to find a couple of dresses and after that Violet returned back home.
Her mother was in the kitchen, making lunch for them when she stepped through the front door.
"Hey, Honey!"
Violet walked into the kitchen, the bag with her dress still in her hands before she gave her mother a hug.
As soon as the two pulled back from each other, her mother gave her a smile, "Did you find a dress?"
The teenage girl nodded her head, giving her a small smile, "Yes, I did. I'll show you later."
The woman nodded her head while she spun around to glance at the receipt.
Violet went upstairs and then quickly pulled out her phone, texting Caroline, who hadn't been responding all day. Violet frowned deeply while she stared at her screen.
She flopped down onto her bed before she tried to reach Stefan, than Damon. No one was answering their phone.
Violet narrowed her eyes at her phone before she got up onto her feet and hung her dress up against the door.
IT WAS TOTAL CHAOS. Homecoming had been cancelled because the room was overflowing with water. But then Tyler suddenly saved the day and made the offer that Homecoming could be celebrated at his place.
So now they stood in his living room, impressed by the last minute party he had thrown together in one afternoon.
"How did he plan a better party than me so fast?", Caroline stated curiously when the two girls walked through the large white doors of the Lockwood residence.
The blond narrowed her blue eyes at the windows, "What, is that a band outside?"
Bonnie let her gaze wander around in complete confusion, "Who are all these people?" Caroline seemed rather sceptical, "This is weird. Where is Tyler?" Without looking back at them, the blond then dashed off, searching for Tyler, not saying anything else.
Violet, Ethan and Bonnie took of their jackets and Violet made sure to get them something to drink.
At some point Caroline had dashed past her, seeming deep in thoughts before she noticed her and quickly informing the girl that Klaus was the host of the very suspicious party.
On Violet's way back to Bonnie, she suddenly spotted Matt and Elena standing in the doorway.
The dark haired girl waved at them before she quickly walked over. Elena was hurriedly whispering something into Matt's ear, before they both flashed her a smile.
Violet just chose to ignore it before she immediately spilled the news to them, "Klaus is here!"
"What?" Matt exchanged a long look with Elena, that made Violet quiet suspicious.
The dark haired girl narrowed her eyes at them, but just continued, "Yeah, our hybrid friend, Tyler, thought it would be okay to let his master throw a party."
There was complete silence from her friends, which lead Violet to feel uneasy and voice her thoughts, "I honestly expected more surprise."
Elena gave her a small smile before she shook her head, "I've learned not to be surprised by anything Klaus does." The brunette inhaled deeply before she gave Matt and Violet a quick glance, "I'm gonna find Bonnie."
Violet wanted to speak up but Elena had already disappeared, "Wait, I know where—"
She then turned to face Matt, "What's going on? You guys are such bad liars— I know something is going on." She then looked Matt up and down, "And what are you doing here with Elena? Weren't you taking Rebekah?"
"Plans changed." Matt stared at her awkwardly before he dashed off as well, "I need a drink."
Violet got even more suspicious because of that and she slowly made her way through the crowd.
Suddenly Adrian walked past her, grabbing her by her hand and spinning her onto the dance floor. "Hey, what are you doing here?"
"Well, it's our school dance, where else should I be?", Violet furrowed her eyebrows at her little brother.
Violet couldn't help but notice the troubled look her brother was trying to cover up. Her frown got even deeper when she placed a hand on his arm, staring into his eyes she questioned, "Adrian, is there something you aren't telling me?"
The boy stared down at her, seeming like he was struggling with himself before Ethan suddenly appeared besides them.
He had a handsome smirk plastered on his face, and stretched out his hand for Violet to take, "Hey man, can I steal her from you?"
Adrian quickly nodded his head at him and Violet placed her hand in Ethan's. The boy had a plain expression on his face while he spun Violet further away from her brother.
She knew that they still had to talk about the Damon situation but her mind was still preoccupied with the awkward behavior of her little brother.
She just couldn't shake the feeling that something was going on. With Matt, Elena and Ethan acting weird it had to be.
"Look, V—"
Violet then let her gaze wander over the crowd and her heart stopped, when she gazed out of the window, spotting Klaus, who was having a conversation with Elena.
Violet inhaled in complete shock, before he eyes immediately snapped back to Ethan, interrupted him. "Klaus is outside talking to Elena!"
She immediately stopped dancing and took a step back from Ethan, who was giving her a confused look. "Yeah, he's throwing the party."
Violet frowned at him in confusion, "But why is he back in town?"
Ethan chuckled and made a face as if he was suddenly remembering something unimportant, "Oh yeah, apparently Damon, Stefan and Elena killed Mikael. Klaus said that this was his way of celebrating that."
Violet's mouth opened a gap and she exhaled deeply while she stared up into Ethan's eyes. "I can't believe you."
With that the black haired girl spun around and immediately went for the exit that lead onto the back porch and into that garden, where the large dance floor was located.
Violet adjusted her dress while she went down the steps that lead towards the dance floor.
Her brown eyes skipped over the head of the dancing crowd, only stopping when she spotted Damon on the other end of it.
The girl immediately felt the rage bubble up inside of her, when she thought about that fact that none of them, not Elena, not Stefan and not Damon had told her about them killing Mikeal and their plan.
Violet immediately started making her way around the large crowd and the rage only grew while she hurried over to the man.
Only when she was standing right infront of him, Violet's anger slightly disappeared.
Damon's eyes immediately widened in shock, when he spotted the girl, who was now standing in front of him. She was not part of the plan and they had agreed on making sure that she wasn't attending this party.
The man immediately tried to overplaye his worries and gave her a unbothered glance, "Looking good, Violet."
The dark haired girl immediately scoffed at him in annoyance, "Oh, cut the crap, Damon! I'm not stupid!"
He gave her an innocent look, his eyebrows raised when he shrugged, "Didn't say that."
Her eyes were narrowed at him, "I know that Klaus is here— why the hell is Klaus here, Damon?"
The man knew that Klaus's hybrids were probably listening in on their conversation, so Damon flat out lied to the girl once more, "We killed Mikeal."
"I heared— who's stupid idea was that?", Violet raised her eyebrows at him.
Damon's gaze flickered down onto his watch before met her eyes one more and quickly grabbed the girl by her waist.
Violet suddenly felt a jolt going through her entired body and when she opened her eyes, she realized that she was standing on the front porch of the Salvatore Mansion.
She was fully aware of the fact that Damon's hand was still wresting on her hip and she cursed herself for feeling how her heart sped up because of that.
She only got more nervous, worrying about, if he was hearing that right now or not.
"It's part of a plan— a plan we didn't include you and Elena in, because of your safety", Damon immediately stated while he still had his hand on her waist.
"I explain everything to you, I promise", his eyes gazed into her's while he spoke. "But I have to go now."
Violet nodded quietly, knowing that arguing wasn't going to bring her anywhere. "Okay." There was a moment of silence before she spoke one last time, "Be careful."
Damon nodded at her and in the next moment he was gone, leaving Violet alone on the slightly lit porch.
The girl made her way inside and quickly poured herself a glass of bourbon.
Her stomach was feeling like it was in knots and she was pacing up and down in front of the fire place. She just couldn't shake this nagging feeling that something was going to go side ways.
Klaus would be completely enraged and would probably try to kill every single one of them.
It felt like hours passed by when she was fiddling with her fingers, while sitting on the leather couch. Suddenly the large wooden doors of the Salvatore Mansion went flying open and Damon stormed inside.
Violet immediately stood up and watched how the man hurried over to the alcohol, immediately pouring himself a glass.
Damon was completely enraged, now pacing up and down in front of the large fireplace.
His voice was loud and the vein on his forehead was popping out, "How did this happen? We thought of everything! Klaus having Hybrids, Mikael turning on us. We brought in Katherine, so Elena wasn't in danger. We didn't involve people we didn't had to. Anything that could've gotten wrong, we were prepared!"
Violet frowned deeply while she looked at him, "I don't understand. What happened?"
The man looked up at her, a serious look on his face, "We blew it. And all thanks to Stefan."
Violet gave him a worried gaze before she took a stepp towards him, "Why didn't you tell me, Damon? I could've helped in some way."
The dark haired girl eyed him carefully, while he continud pacing back and forth.
"I wanted you out of the way. —You could've gotten hurt", Damon answered her honestly, before he suddenly looked up into Violet's eyes.
Violet gluped quietly, feeling the intensity of his gaze, before she raised her eyebrows, "Where's Katherine?"
Damon scoffed loudly while he threw his hands into the air, "She ran for the hills. As usual. The minute things got bad. And who blames her? Klaus would've crushed her."
His eyes met her's once more, "I had him, Violet. I had Klaus. This could've all been over!"
The man smashed his whiskey bottle into the fire, making Violet approach him quickly, "Hey! Damon!"
She tried to grab him by his arm, but the man immediately pulled away, making her frown at him.
"Hey, listen to me!" The girl placed her hands on both sides of his face, forcing him to look at her.
Damon stopped fighting against her touch and the two gazed into each other's eyes. "I appreciate your effort to assure my safety— even though you lied to me."
She stared up at him, her thumbs slightly stroking the side of his face, "—We'll survive this. We always survive."
Damon's gaze suddenly flickered down towards her lips and Violet let her finger draw circles into his temple, "Trust me."
The man met her eyes again, his voice quiet, "We're never getting Stefan back. You know that, don't you? — Elena certainly does after today."
Violet was taken back for a moment, the girl thought about a world without one of her best friends.
That was certainly horrible and she knew that she would not give up, but she still kept her hands on both sides of his face.
"Then we'll all let him go. Okay? We'll have to finally let him go." The two stared at each other and Damon nodded slightly his eyes only focused on her face.
Violet felt how he was slowly leaning in and the feeling of slight panic erupted in her stomach.
Her thoughts immediately went to Ethan. She loved him, she really did.
Violet snapped out of the moment and was about to remove herself from the situation when suddenly Damon's phone rang.
Violet immediately took a step back, when Damon picked up, his eyes were fixed on Violet, watching her reaction, "Not interested in a play-by-play of our failure, Katherine."
Violet raised her eyebrows at him when she heard the name Katherine.
After a moment Damon scoffed sarcastic, "That's not very comforting at the moment. You're going back into hiding."
"Take care of yourself, Katherine." He slowly let his phone slide down into his back pocket.
The two them exchanged a look, a look that made Violet feel like she didn't knew what she wanted in that moment.
The girl quickly avoided his eyes and hurried over to the couch before she grabbed her purse. "I better go home. I don't want to worry my mom."
Damon didn't say anything, he just continued to stare at her before he silently nodded his head and went to open the door for Violet.
The girl met his gaze when she passed him and stepped through the door, "Goodnight, Damon."
The raven haired man gave her a nodd while he looked her up and down, "Goodnight, Violet."
With that the door fell shut behind her and the raven haired girl finally released a deep breath.
