"LOS ALAMITOS?", ELENA questioned Bonnie while she handed her a piece of paper. The witch glanced at it for a second but shook her head, "No, too old."
Elena gave her another page while raising her eyebrow and smiling, "Honolulu?"
Bonnie smiled as well, shaking her head once more, "I wish." She sighed, raising her eyebrows, "How many of these are there?"
Violet glanced at the pile of pages and huffed, "A lot."
Elena gave her a small smile before she spread out the pages in front of them, "I asked the Sheriff's office to pull up every Abby Bennett in the country."
"I know we haven't been able to really - that things have been weird- because of Jeremy. So thank you for helping me. I know you have a lot to deal with", the Bennett girl stated while she looked at Elena.
"Same to you of course. Thank you", she then added while she looked at Violet. The dark haired girl gave her a supportive smile, "There's nothing more important, Bonnie."
"It's surreal. Having to track down a woman who bailed on her own kid", Bonnie stated, her voice revealing that she was struggling, before she went on to search through the pages.
"You know you don't have to, right? Let Stefan obsess over opening up the coffin- it doesn't have to fall on you", Elena stated simply while she crossed her arms over her chest.
Bonnie shook her head slowly, "The coffin's spelled shut. That makes it a witch problem- So it does fall on me. I was bound to see my mother sooner or later."
Suddenly the door opened and Violet heared Damon's familiar voice, "Sooner-" When she glanced over her shoulder she saw that he had a folder in his hand while he approached them.
"Abby Bennett Wilson, Monroe, North Carolina. Bron in Mystic Falls Hospital, graduated Mystic Falls High. Blah, blah, blah, blah-" he stated until he came to a stand besides them.
The three girls stood up immediately and Violet saw how Bonnie's face expression immediately fell when she realized that he had found her mother.
Then Violet was suddenly very aware of Damon's body next to her's. The dark haired girl felt how her heart sped up and she found herself glanzing at him.
"A little compulsion helps speed up the research process", the vampire stated while he turned to look at Violet.
The dark haired girl immediately avoided his gaze and sucked in a deep breath as soon as she felt his eyes on her.
Bonnie looked up and met Violet's eyes, narrowing them at her friend in suspicion, "This is her."
"Yep- Road Trip! I call shotgun!", the vampire besides Violet immediately exclaimed sarcastically.
Violet quickly shook her head at him, meeting his eyes for the first time, "Yeah, no."
Damon's blue eyes widened a bit before he narrowed them at her, a devilish smirk appearing on his lips, "Want me to hang out in the back with you?"
Violet inhaled deeply before she shot him a death glare, "No, because you're not coming, Damon."
The vampire frowned at her, as if someone had forbidden him his favourite candy, "Why? I'm the one who found her?"
Violet was seemingly irritated by him and finally snapped, "Okay, Damon, look, Bonnie hasn't seen her mom in over fifteen years. She doesn't need your snarky commentary narrating the experience."
She wanted to pass him by, but Damon suddenly stepped infront of her, his gaze showing his desire to make her feel irritated.
Violet met his gaze and gluped before his seductive face expression changed into a pout.
Bonnie suddenly frowned at the two, "What's going on with you two?" Damon slowly faced Bonnie, "We kissed, now it's weird."
Bonnie's surprise was visible on her face when Damon spun back around to Violet and smirked, "Have a great trip."
Violet rolled her eyes at him as soon as he was by the door and sighed deeply before she met Bonnie's and Elena's stunned gazes'. "What?!"
Violet immediately waved them off, "We'll talk later. Back to Bonnie." The two slowly nodded at her in agreement and went back on topic.
Not soon after they were already on their way, not wanting to waste a second.
Bonnie was driving with Elena in the passenger seat and Violet in the backseat while the radio was playing.
"I just can't believe I'm gonna see her— Or meet her, sort of, since I don't really remember her", Bonnie spoke after a moment, finally breaking the silence between the trio.
"You don't talk about her", Elena stated calmly before Bonnie shrugged. "What's to say? — she left, never wrote, never called. Not even when my grams died."
Suddenly Bonnie's voice was higher and her eyes found Violet's as she glanced into the rare view mirror, "Can we talk about you and Damon instead?"
Violet's face immediately scrunched up before she shook her head, "Nope, I'm not talking about it." She let out a deep sighed and Bonnie, as well as Elena, both gave her a pointed look.
Violet's eyes widened before she rolled with her eyes and sighed once more, "He kissed me yesterday— it's not gonna happen again— end of story." She tried to ignore the butterflies that erupted in her stomach when she thought about the kiss on her front porch.
Bonnie exhaled while her eyes wandered back towards the road, "I mean— was it good?"
Violet felt how she blushed and immediately looked at her feet while she mumbled, "Doesn't matter."
Elena smirked while she glanced at her, "That's means it was."
Violet's mouth dropped open, and she wanted to say something, but she chose not to.
Suddenly Bonnie's phone started ringing, catching her attention. ""It's Stefan. I told him I'd call him as soon as I got the address."
Elena raised her eyebrows at the witch, "Ignore." The brunette then saw the deep frown on her friends face, "Bonnie, you're about to see your mom for the first time in fifteen years. I'm not letting anyone ruin that moment."
"Yeah, but he's gonna keep asking at it until I pick up", Bonnie explained to her while she still held her phone up.
The Gilbert girl exhaled unnerved before she grabbed the phone, "Fine."
She accepted the call and held the phone to her ear, "What?"
Elena glanced over at Bonnie, "Bonnie, Violet and I are going to spent the night at the lake house, while we wait for Sheriff Forbes to give us the addresses."
"No Stefan, I'm not. We need a night off from your insanity. — well we're doing everything we can. So could you maybe not call every five minutes?", the brunette snapped at the man in the other line and the hung up on him.
As soon as they pulled of the road, Violet spotted the red house with the blue roof and the white fence. "Cute house."
"Yeah, for the middle of nowhere", Bonnie stated simply while she parked her car.
When the girls unbuckled their seatbelts, Elena gave Bonnie a questioning look, "You're ready?"
Her question was met with silence from the witch, who just gave her an undecided look.
Elena softly placed her hand over Bonnie's and gave it a reassuring squeeze, "Come on."
The three climbed out of the car and slowl made their way into the front porch. Violet could see how nervous Bonnie was when she run the door bell.
A few seconds had passed by and Elena was about to knock on the door when suddenly a manly voice addressed them from their left.
"Hey there!"
Violet jumped at the sound of his voice before her head snapped towards the young and good-looking man that approached them.
"Hey, we're looking for Abby Wilson", Elena greeted him friendly.
"She's not home", the young man answered her while he glanced over at Bonnie. "Anything I can do for you?"
"It's okay— we can come back", Bonnie stated hurriedly, but Elena grabbed her wrist and held her back.
"I'm sorry— but you look so familiar", the young man on their opposite stated while he still looked at Bonnie.
The witch gave him a small nodd, "Yeah, Abby's my mom."
The man's face immediately fell, "Oh." After a small moment of silence he then introduced himself to them, "I'm Jamie. You guys wanna come inside?"
He opened the door for the three and motioned for them to follow him inside, "Right this way."
Before the three followed after him they exchanged a couple of looks.
"You're sure you don't want anything?", Jamie's voice questioned them, coming from what Violet suspected was the kitchen. "We got fresh OJ, coconut water, some mango-guava something."
The three girls slowly sat down around the table and Bonnie gave him a small smile, "Water is fine."
"Cool." The man immediately spun around and grabbed a glass.
Bonnie awkwardly cleared her throat before she questioned, "So— are we like— related?"
"Oh, no. Abby's not my mom", he stated while he handed them the water. Elena gave Bonnie a knowing look, "Oh good."
"Yeah, she dated my old man back in the day. He's kind of a deadbeat. So when they broke up she took me in. Put me through school, didn't freak out when I totaled her car— twice", Jamie explained to them while he chuckled.
Bonnie let out a small laugh, a small smile playing on her face. "She sounds great."
Suddenly the door opened and a female voice could be heard, "Jamie?— who's car is out front?"
The woman rounded the corner, her eyes immediately meeting Bonnie's. The witch's eyes widened a bit, "That's mine."
The woman approached the three still sitting girls and Bonnie slowly stood up. "I'm Bonnie— your daughter." Her voice was choking a bit and the woman's face dropped immediately when she heard that name.
After she exhaled deeply she replied, "Hello Bonnie."
Violet was nervous for Bonnie but her mother seemed to take it pretty good, because she offered some foot before they would sit down together and talk.
"How are you holding up?", Elena questioned Bonnie as soon as Jamie and Abby had left the room.
Bonnie placed the picture of Jamie on his graduation day back onto the shelf, "I'll be fine. I'm not here to get my mom back. I'm here to get help."
"So I hope you guys are hungry, because foot is always been my go-to icebreaker", Abby stated while she entered the room, a small smile on her lips while she glanced at Bonnie.
"You have a really beautiful home", Elena told her while she sat down onto the chair.
"You're so sweet— just like your mom", Abby stated, while she still smiled. The three girls all immediately frowned at her. "You knew my mom?"
Abby gave her a small nodd, "Miranda was my best friend." Bonnie's eyebrows shot up, her voice filled with frustration, "So you had a daughter and a best friend and you still left?"
"My best friend was why I left", Abby answered her daughter before she slowly sat down on an empty chair. "Fifteen years ago, a vampire came to town, looking for you Elena. Looking for the doppelganger. No one could manage to kill him, so I lured him out of town and cast a spell to desiccate him in a crypt in Charlotte."
"Mikael— he was an original vampire", Elena stated before Abby went on. "It took every ounce of power I had. It almost killed me." She inhaled deeply, "I recovered, but my magic didn't. My powers never came back."
"Neither did you", Bonnie shot at her immediately, her eyes seemed to water up. Abby gave her a pointed look, "It wasn't that simple."
"It wasn't? You cast a spell, put Mikael down and what? Had to teach Jamie how to drive?", Bonnie's voice was filled with rage while she shot back at the woman.
Violet feared that Bonnie was about to say something she would regret later and chose to try and calm her down, "Bonnie—"
"This was a mistake— She has no magic, she can't help us", Bonnie shot at her dark haired friend before she stood up and approached the front door.
Abby immediately followed her, "Bonnie, wait! Please!" She grabbed her daughter's wrist and turned Bonnie around to face her. "Don't go— talk to me. Please?"
Bonnie seemed to consider it and Violet and Elena slowly made their way towards the door as well. "We'll wait outside."
The two friends slowly walked side by side down towards a wood hut while waiting for Bonnie to come out of the house.
A dog was barking in the distance and the two girls spun around, looking at their surroundings before they spun back around and came face to face with no other than Stefan.
The brunette vampire had a sarcastic smile plastered on his face, his hands stuffed in the pockets of his jacket, "Hey, nice lake house."
Violet heard how Elena exhaled deeply before Stefan started his lecture, "So, you think I wouldn't find out?"
Elena and Violet had both crossed their arms over their chest, and the brunette girl responded, "Honestly, I didn't care."
"This is exactly why I didn't want you in the loop", Stefan spatted at her in anger, while he came rushing towards the girl.
The brunette let out a snort, "Yeah, because now you can't do whatever you want."
Stefan let out a angry grunt before he kicked a chair, "Damn it!"
"Hey!", Jamie's loud voice suddenly came from behind them and Violet immediately felt how her heartbeat quickened. "Everything alright out here?"
She couldn't predict Stefan when he was angry and she honestly feared for Jamie's safety.
Elena immediately tried to pursued him to go back inside, "Hey, Jamie, go back inside, okay? Please, trust me. It's better of for you there."
The young man's gaze wandered from Elena and Violet over to Stefan, before he started to approached the vampire, "I don't think so."
"I'd listen to her. Get back upstairs, man", Stefan just stated, his voice now calmer than before.
But Jamie seemed like he wanted to confront Stefan, "I said, I don't think so."
Stefan suddenly lung forward and grabbed Jamie by the throat, making him gasp for air while Violet and Elena looked at them im shock.
"Stefan!"
"Get back upstairs — before I tear your damn throat out, do you understand?", Stefan hissed at Jamie before he pushed him backwards.
Jamie stumbled backwards before he spun around and disappeared.
Elena gave Stefan a hateful glare and screamed at him, "I don't think you realize how bad you've gotten!"
"It's the way it has to be, Elena", Stefan stated, which made Violet chuckle in response. Stefan gave her questioning look and the dark haired woman just shrugged, "It's funny— the whole, villain thing you've got going on."
Suddenly she heard a gun clocking behind her and when she spun around she saw Jamie, with a shotgun, "You're not supposed to be here!"
Violet frowned at him, "Jamie, what are you doing?" The young man didn't look at her while he replied, "What I was told. He's not supposed to be here."
Stefan's voice reached her ear, "Violet, he's compelled." In that moment a shot erupted from Jamie's shotgun, which made Violet jump while she let out a scream.
After that Jamie's tied her and Elena to a metal pole while Stefan laid on the floor, grunting in pain.
"Jamie, please just let us go", Elena pleaded while she leaned slightly forward but Jamie immediately reloaded his gun and shouted at her. "Don't! Please, don't do anything! Look, I don't know why I shot him, why I'm holding this gun, but if you move or do anything, I'm gonna shoot him again."
"Okay, we won't", Elena promised him hectically. "Who gave you that gun?", she then questioned him.
"A man came by here earlier today. He said it was wooden buckshot. Told me if anyone got in our way, I'm supposed to shoot him", Jamied explained to her while he still stood next to Stefan.
Elena nodded at him before she continued asking, "What else did he say?"
"If Abby didn't find the location of some coffins, I'm supposed to shoot myself", the young man told her, which made Elena only grow more hectic.
She exhaled deeply before Violet questioned, "What about us— or Elena? Did he say anything about Elena?"
Jamie's voice mirrored his fear, "I'm not supposed to hurt you." His eyes were filled with tears. Elena immediately gave him a pleading look, "Well, are you sure? Because these ropes are so tight, that it is hurting me."
Jamie took a couple of steps forward, but Elena immediately freed herself from her ropes, lung forward and grabbed the gun from his hands.
She then let out a grunt and knocked Jamie out which his own gun.
Violet immediately cheered for her while Elena freed her from her ropes and the two then quickly made their way over to Stefan.
Elena scrunched down next to Stefan. "What can I do to help?"
"Everytime I move, the wood shifts inside of me—", Stefan's breathing was deep and out of control. "I can feel it scraping against my heart. You need to get the pieces out!"
Elena nodded while she sat up and slowly pulled piece by piece out of Stefan bleeding chest. Violet could hear him scream from where she was standing. "Just get it out Elena, please!"
"Keep squirming — maybe I'll feel sorry for you", Elena snapped back at him before she pulled the last one of the wood pieces.
Stefan's breathing finally went back to normal and Elena gave him a pointed look. "You've changed. Something's different about you", Stefan stated while he still laid on the ground infront of the brunette. "You're stronger— tougher."
"You're not the only one who changed, Stefan— We all had to", Elena said while she rubbed her hands on her tights.
Stefan let out a chuckle, "It's good, though." The vampire slowly got onto his feet and then his eyes then met Elenas, " I shouldn't have kidnapped you— the car, the bridge— it was too far."
There was a moment of silence before Elena gave him a small nodd, "Thank you."
Stefan gave her a pointed look, "But you shouldn't have lied to me. You can't go off and do things like that, Elena. Not while Klaus is still alive."
Elena sighted deeply, before she spoke, "I know. I just— I wanted to give Bonnie a moment with her mother, without everything else getting in the way."
Stefan couldn't hide his hurt face expression, "Without me getting in the way."
The brunette girl gave him an apologetic look before Stefan got into the car and drove off quickly.
The two girls remained standing in the dark, side by side, until Violet slowly reached over to Elena and took her hand in her own, squeezing it tightly.
