Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β "FOR THE RECORD, she's the one who wanted to stop in a motel, not me", Damon told Jeremy while he nodded over at Elena, who was walking up the stairwell at the front of the group.
"So where are we?", Jeremy questioned them curiously while he followed them into their motel room.
"Corner of somewhere and nowhere, where Kol can't find us" Damon answered him simply while he placed their bags onto their beds.
The room was painted in a dark blue and the curtains were drawn, which made it seem pretty dim lit.
Jeremy shook his head to himself while he sat down on one of the beds, "I can't believe Kol was a vampire."
"Well, didn't you find it weird that you made a friend so fast? Have you met you?", Damon questioned the boy while he raised his eyebrows in curiosity.
"Not helping!", Violet immediately shot at Damon in a warning tone and gave the man a warning look.
"Well, this should work, right, Jer?", Elena questioned her brother and Jeremy nodded, "Yeah, it doesn't really matter."
"All right, Whoopi- what do you need? Candles? Incense? Pottery wheel?", Damon questioned the boy while he walked through the room.
"That's not how it works", Jeremy stated with a smirk on his face, making Damon roll with his eyes, before he spun back around to them, "I know, I know. They push from the other side, and you pull form this one."
There was silence between the group before Jeremy gave them a questioning look, "All right, you got a picture of her?"
"Picture?- from what? A trip to Disneyland? Come on Rose! You're not gonna actually make us wait, are you?", Damon made a pause while he looked around the room, his devilish smirk appearing on his face. "I know you're obsessed with me."
Violet scoffed at his behavior before she sat down next to Jeremy. The brunette boy exhaled deeply, "All right, tell me something about her."
"Um- well, she did this little thing with her tongue", the vampire stated while he sat down on the bed besides Elena.
"Something that matters, Damon!", Violet shot at him in annoyance.
There was a moment of silence between them, before the man spoke once more, while staring into the distance, "She spent her last day in paradise. Soaking in the sun and reminiscing about what it means to be human. And when death came, she didn't fear it."
"I was with her on her last day and she definitely wasn't in paradise", Violet stated while she gave Damon a questioning look.
"It was in the dream he gave her", Jeremy suddenly stated before he leaned back in his seat, exhaling deeply. "She's here."
Damon looked around and Violet knew that they couldn't see her but somehow she could feel her presence.
"Is she lonely on the other side?", Elena questioned her brother curiously.
"She says not to worry. She's happy" Jeremy told them.
"Is she still hot?", Damon suddenly questioned them, making Violet and Elena shoot him a pointed look.
"She misses you", Jeremy said while he smiled at an empty space next to Damon in amusement. His face then faltered before his eyes moved between Damon and Violet. "She- uh, she misses all of you."
"She was sired by someone named Mary Porter", Jeremy then told them while he frowned.
"Scary Marry- well, where is she, Rose?", Damon questioned the ghost besides him.
After a moment Jeremy spoke once more, "She said that we should wait and that she would find out."
To pass the time, Damon got himself a bucket of ice for the scotch he had bought by the liquor store not far away from the motel and Elena, Violet and Jeremy remained inside their room.
"So, what's up with you and Damon?", Jeremy suddenly questioned Violet, his eyes giving her a curious look, making the woman stop in her track.
"What do you mean? Nothings up", the dark haired girl told him while giving Jeremy a confused look.
"You sure about that? Because even Rose said something", Jeremy stated, a smirk on his lips while he told her.
"What did she say?", Violet questioned the boy immediately, interested in what the ghost had to say about them. But in that moment the door to their room opened and Damon entered.
Apparently he felt the weird atmosphere in the room because he raised his eyebrows immediately at the awkward silence that was filling the room "Everything okay in here?"
"Yeah, it's fine", Violet immediately answered him, trying to act like everything was normal.
"Okay, well, I'm gonna freshen up. You might wanna get some rest. I'm sure Rose will make herself known when she gets back", Damon stated, his voice a little higher then usual before he gave them one last look and then made his way back out into the hallway.
While the man was absent, Elena, Jeremy and Violet got ready for bed. Jeremy was pretty much immediately asleep as soon as his head had hit the pillow and Elena was already dozing off besides him, when Damon entered the room again.
Violet closed her eyes, wanting to try and go to sleep while she heard the man walk through the room.
The dark haired girl couldn't help but peek a little bit through her lashes and her heart skipped a beat when she saw that Damon's shirt was open, revealing his abs to her.
The girl tightened the grip on her pillow and immediately closed her eyes again, not wanting him to catch her staring.
But after a moment she just couldn't help herself and peeked again. Her brown eyes travel over his sculpted body while he sat on a chair, his legs up on the table.
Violet felt a shudder rush through her body when his ice blue eyes suddenly met her brown ones.
The dark haired girl snuggled more into the pillow while she continued to hold their eye contact.
After a moment of long eye contact Damon suddenly stood up from his chair and made his way over to Violets bed.
The girl was tucked in under her blanket and he laid on top of it, on the empty side of the bed.
The dark haired girl laid on her side while he laid on his back, his head turning to Violet while she spoke, "You never told me about thatβ about what you did for Rose."
"It wasn't about you", the man stated while he turned his head and stare at the ceiling.
Violet smiled to herself while she watched his side profile carefully, "Why don't you let people see the food in you?"
"Because when people see good, they expect good", Damon stated simply, his head turned to her after a moment of silence. His eyes meeting her own, "And I don't want to live up to anyone's expectations."
Violet remained silent, her eyes slowly wandering down to his lips before she quickly turned around and laid on her back, now also staring at the ceiling. Only now she realized how close they actually were laying next to each other. She could feel Damon looking at her before he slowly reached for her hand that was was laying on the blanket in-between their bodies.
Violet felt her breath speeding up when his hand wrapped around her own, giving it a sensual squeeze.
She exhaled deeply while Damon started rubbing the back of her hand with his thumb while watching her reaction. Violet exhaled once more before she quickly sat up and pulled her hand out of his grasps.
The girl grabbed her jacket from the chair and quickly made her way outside into the hallway, leaving the motel room behind while she tried to calm herself down.
She was definitely struggling with herself. She still had Ethan in the back of her mind and the other problem was that she was scared of the feelings she had for Damon and what that would mean for them and her life.
The girl felt the cold night air hit her face while she came to a stand not far away from a wending machine.
Her thoughts were rasing and she heard the door quietly open and close one more time.
The girl didn't have to turn around to know that Damon had followed her outside into the hallway.
Violet still had her back turned towards the man while she shook her head, "Please, don't, Damonβ"
The man eyed her back, his voice only above a whisper, "Why notβViolet?" Her name rolled so softly off his tongue, the girl immediately felt the goosebumps errupt over her whole body before she quickly turned on her heels and took a couple of big steps towards the raven haired man.
She quickly placed her hands on either side of his face before she quickly got onto her tiptoes and let her lips collide with his.
The electricity was rushing through her body while his hands were roaming over her body, exploring every part of her body.
Violet felt how Damon quickly deepened the kiss, his tongue entering her mouth whike their kisses grew more sloppy and hungrily.
The couple stumbled backwards until Violet's back hit the stone wall. The woman had her arms wrapped around his neck while Damon leaned with one hand against the wall, right next to her head. After a moment his hands started roaming over her body once more and Violet softly bit his lower lip, making Damon groan before he started placing kisses down her neck.
The man was peppering kisses against her throat and down to her breast, making Violet gasps for air before he connected their lips once more, stealing her breath again.
She felt him squeez her ass and she let her hands fall into his chest until a voice made her jump away from Damon in shock.
Elena had started searching them and was now standing in the hallway as well, "Violet β"
Violet immediately took a couple of steps backwards and pulled her jacket closer to her body, "Oh my Godβ Elenaβ"
The girl immediately felt the blush forming on her cheeks while she tried to avoid eye contact.
"Rose found Mary. She lives in Kansas", Elena stated, a small smile playing on her lips while she looked at her best friend.
"Okay, thenβ let's go", Damon stated, eyeing Violet out of the corner of his eye before he disappeared behind the corner.
Elena gave Violet a knowing smirk and Violet felt her stomach turn into knots while she thought about what she had just did.
Violet felt like the worst person in earth, she had just kissed Damon, no she had just been making out with Damon, while Ethan was somewhere in the woods, trying to break the sire bond to Klaus for her.
The dark haired girl remained silent the whole ride to Kansas, only watching the landscape fly by.
Their journey stopped by a large mansion by the edge of the woods.
Jeremy remained by the car while Elena, Violet and Damon slowly made their way inside the building.
The lights were out and only the dim moon light from outside fell through the windows.
Elena and Violet immediately turned on their flashlights and revealed large piles of documents and antics standing around.
"Vampire Hoarders."
"Who is this Mary person?", Elena questioned him while she eyed their surroundings carefully.
"Scary Mary β really oldβ super creepy", Damon answered them while they made their way through the room.
Violet gave him a curious glance before she asked, "And how do you know her?"
Damon turned to look at her before he nodded his head and grimaced, "You knowβ"
Violet scoffed while she rolled with her eyes, "Of course." Damon frowned at them, "What? I said creepy, not ugly."
Suddenly a door fell shut behind them, making them jump in surprise. They all exchanged looks with each other before Damon slowly approached the door.
Elena and Violet followed him closely, their flashlights pointing at the closed door.
Damon carefully pushed them open, and they entered the room. Their flashlight beams were dancing over the walls and Violet's breath hitched in her throat when she spotted a woman that was staked through the heart and pinned to the wall.
"Maryβ"
"Quite contraryβ", Kol's voice suddenly spoke from behind them before the light suddenly turned on.
The three spun around to him, spotting Kol, who was sitting in a chair in the corner of the room, a wooden baseball bat in his hands.
"Shame about Mary β She used to be a blast", Kol spoke while he stood up and waked around the room. "I don't quite know what happened. I fear all the time she spent with my family might have ruined her. She was a bit of an Original groupie."
"And were you her favorite?", Elena questioned him, her eyebrows raised.
Kol gave her a questioning look. "You, mean, did I turn her?β I think I did, but wait, maybe it was Rebekah. There was also a Klaus period. Let's not forget the Elijah affair.β I spoke to my brother. I know you're trying to find out who you descended fromβ Now you never willβ soβ", Kol turned towards Damon, a smirk on his face. "Where did we leave off?"
He then swung his bat and hit Damon against his knee, making the man groan while he fell to the floor. Kol them began to hit his arms, making the boans crack. "Violet, Elena, get out of here!"
Elena and Violet wanted to run but Kol immediately appeared in their way, pure evil in his gaze, "According to my brother you're off limits β please don't test me."
He pushed Violet backwards and the dark haired girl hit her head against the headboard of the bed, making her groan quietly.
Damon immediately jumped onto his feet and grabbed Kol by his throat, choking him. "Don't touch her!"
Kol gave Damon a headbutt, sending him flying into the wall and down to the ground. "Oh, dear. I've hit a nerve!"
The man chuckled while he approached Damon slowly, "Relax, Darling! I just want us to be even. You snapped my neckβ you killed my brother and then you humiliated me."
Kol started beating down on Damon once more, making the man groan in pain.
The Original smirked to himself in satisfaction, "There now we're even." Kol them turned on his heel and within the blink of an eye he was gone.
Violet immediately hurries over to Damon, who slowly got onto his feet.
She gave him a worried look while the man relocated his shoulder, "Are you okay?"
Damon nodded, "That's better." His eyesΒ wandered over Violet's forhead and a wordied expression spread over his face while he placed a hand on the left side of her face, his thumb carefully tracing the wound above her eyebrow.
"You okay? You're bleeding."
"Yeah, I'll be fine", Violet slowly placed her hand over his, while looking up into his eyes. The two remained that way for a small moment, but then, Violet let go of his hand and exhaled deeply.
"What are you doing?", the man suddenly questioned her, making her look up into his eyes again. "What do you mean?"
"What the hell is this?β You kissing me", he continued while he stared at her.
"Iβ", Violet was at a loss of words. "I don't know. Everyone seems to think that I have feelings for you."
Damon's eyes seemed to be searching for something in her's, "Do you?"
Violet knew that her heart aced for him, but she also still felt something for Ethan, "Iβ It's complicated."
The man nodded his head while he pressed his lips into a thin line, "Guess you thought the kiss was gonna help you figure it out?"
"Noβ", Violet tried to explain to him that this was a decision she had made in the moment, because she felt like kissing him, but he interrupted her.
"Maybe you were hoping I would screw up, so I could just make the decision for you, am I wrong", Damon questioned her and Violet was taken back by his comment.
"Damon β"
"Am I wrong?", his voice was raised now, and he stared her down.
Violet could feel herself growing frustrated with him again, "Well, I guess it's what you always do. You sabotage things. Youβ think about it! Everytime there's a bump in the road, you lash out!"
The man took a step closer to her, his eyes filling with hole while he questioned in a soft tone, "What if I didn't? What if there was no bump?"
Violet held eye contact with him, her mouth hanging open while he watched him.
"I'm sorry, Violetβ but I'm not gonna make it easy for you. You'll have to decide for yourself."
The man then walked past her, leaving her to follow after him in silence.
The car ride was silent and only the raindrops could be heard while the thunder in the distance lit up the sky.
Violet was staring out the window, while sitting in the passenger seat, not noticing Jeremy, who was watching her closely.
The two had known each other since they were little. But they had especially grown closer when Jeremy's parents had died last year. Violet had been there for him and Elena and since then he counted her to one of his closest friends, which meant that he wanted to protect her form any heartache. Additionally, he was feeling loyalty towards Ethan, who he has also grown up with, like a brother.
"Are we there yet?", Rose's voice suddenly pulled the teenager out of his trance, making him look at her and shaking his head in silence.
"Don't tell them I'm hereβ", Rose's eyes wandered of towards the couple in the front. "They had a fight."
Jeremy glanced back at Violet while Rose spoke, "I know you want to stop itβ protect her from it. But you're young. You don't see what I or you're sister sees. It's not just that she makes him a better person. And she does but, he changes her too. Damon challenges herβ surprises her. He makes her question her life. Her beliefs. As far as I took notice, Ethan is different. He'll always be good for her. Damon is either the best thing for her or the worst."
Jeremy glanced at Violet and then at Elena, before it fell back onto the spot where Rose had been sitting, but it was empty.
Violet now and then felt Damon's eyes on her, but chose to ignore him for the whole ride back to Mystic Falls. She didn't want to talk, and even if she wanted, she didn't know what to say.
They arrived at the Salvatore Mansion, and without saying another word, Violet climbed into her own car and drove home.
The girl parked her car beside the front porch and when she rounded the house, she was surprised to see no other than Ethan sitting on the front porch.
Violet's heart jumped in excitement as soon as she spotted the dark haired boy.
He looked exactly the same form when she saw him the last time.
The girl broke into a large smile while she started running towards the boy.
Ethan quickly stood up and Violet immediately jumped into his arms. The two spun around and Violet inhaled his familiar scent.
The dark haired girl felt how he put her down again and she slowly pulled back from him. The excitement still visible on her face.
"When did you come back?", she immediately questioned him.
"Yesterday β Caroline found Tyler and I. She told us about the bloodline problem", the boy answered her while they let go of each other.
There was a moment of silence before Ethan gave her a look, filled with pure adoration, "I've missed you."
Violet smiled while she blushed a little, "I've missed you too.β Where are you staying tonight?"
Ethan rubbed his neck while he looked down at her, "I was hoping that I could crash on the couch."
The girl chuckled quietly before she opened the front door for him, "Of course β Mum's working the night shift. She wouldn't mind anyway, soβ feel at home."
The boy placed his bag on the living room table while Violet brought him a duvet and a couple of Adrian's clothes.
Adrian was making his way downstairs just about then and greeting Ethan with a large smile on his face. The two did their handshake before they pulled away from each other.
Violet had texted her mother that Ethan was staying over and then the three continued to talk about what Ethan had been up to. It felt just like he had never left when the three were sitting on the couch, laughing and chatting together until late at night.
