Β  Β  Β  Β  Β Β  THE NEXT MORNING, the phone on Violets bedside table rang loudly, making her quickly glance onto the little screen. "What's up Elena?"

"Have you heard from Damon?", Elena immediately questioned her while Violet was starting to search through her drawer.

"He doesn't pick up his phone-", Violet called out to her phone that was on the drawer in front of her, while she pulled a black blouse over her head. "I'm driving over there now. Why?"

"I was just going to tell him about the deal I made with Esther- but if you are going over there, could you tell him that she linked all of them together. I couldn't yesterday, because he freaked out and caused that scene."

Violet frowned while she got into her jeans, "She linked them together? What does that even mean?"

"Well, what happens to one happens to all of them", Elena stated simply, which made Violet perk up. "So that means- if one dies, all of them die."

"Yes and Esther wants to kill them", Elena answered her. "Okay, I'm on my way now", the dark girl stated before she hung up the phone. Violet didn't know how she should behave towards him now, he told her that he was in love with her yesterday. Even though Ethan was not in mystic falls, she still felt guilty for the fact that, she was also starting to develop strong feeling's for Damon.

Violet quickly got into her car and drove over to the Salvatore Mansion.

The girl just came to a stand on the front porch when the heavy wooden front door of the Salvatore mansion opened, revealingly no other than a shirtless Damon and Rebekah Mikelson, who looked like she was doing the walk of shame.

Violet's eyes quickly wandered over them, a frown making it's way onto her face before Rebekah pushed past her and left. Violet couldn't deny that she felt a sting in her heart when she saw Damon with Rebekah. Yesterday he had told her he loved her and now this.

Violet gave Damon a glare before she slowly stepped inside, "Seriously?- seriously?!"

She walked infront of him before she spun around, "Did you stop taking your vervain?"

"You think Rebekah had to compell me?", Damon frowned at her.

"I hope so- I mean, otherwise, what's wrong with you?", she questioned him honestly while she stared at the man. "She tried to kill Elena less than 48 hours ago."

Damon rolled with his eyes while he walked past her to his liquor storage, "Can we just move past that, Violet?"

And suddenly Violet knew what was wrong with him. The dark haired woman sighed to herself, voicing her thoughts loudly, "Ohhhh, I get itβ€” that's how it's gonna be now. I hurt your feelings and this is how you lash out at me."

Damon gave her a sarcastic smile and poured himself a bourbon, "Well, maybe for once, something I did had nothing to do with you."

He held up his glass and smirked at her before he took a sip. Violet also shot him a sarcastic smirk, "Keep telling yourself thatβ€”" She took a deep breath before she continued, "You should knowβ€” that Ester is planing on killing her entire family. Elena told me that she's linked them all together with a spell. So whatever happens to one happens to all of them."

"That's great!- Klaus will finally be dead. We win." Damon gave her another smile and smiled once more in his glass.

Violet's face expression had changed and Damon gave her a questioning look, "Why do you look like someone who shot a panda bear?"

Violet shrugged before she answered him, "Well, because to kill Klaus, she has to kill all of them, including Elijah, and he doesn't deserve this."

Damon gave her a confused look, "I'm supposed to care about Elijah?"

Violet felt taken back before she shot back at him, "Shouldn't you at least care about Rebekah?"

Damon gave her a skeptical look, his voice raising a little, "Two seconds ago, you were pissed that she attacked Elena. It's a win-win."

Violet scoffed before she turned, but Damon suddenly appeared infront of her, his finger pointed at her face, "Don't do anything to screw this up- the same goes for Elena."

"He's right, you know- Klaus has to die. They all do", Stefan suddenly appeared behind Damon, his hands stuffed into his jeans pockets.

Damon gave her another smirk while he shrugged, "See? It's democracy in action."

Violet gave him a glare, annoyed by his arrogance she bumped her shoulder with his while passing him, spilling his drink onto the floor.

She exhaled deeply before she pushed the door shut behind her. The girl felt extremely frustrated with Damon. He was just infuriating to her and that was what she told the girls when they met at Bonnie house later that day.

"I'm so mad- He was gloating- like he was proud of himself for sleeping with her!", Violet stated while she was pacing up and down in Bonnie's Bedroom.

"Is it working?"

Caroline suddenly opened the door and sighed deeply, "It's not working. I can hear every word about Damon the vampire gigolo."

Bonnie forwned, "I don't know- it's a tricky spell." Elena had her eyes glued to the smoke, "When Esther did it, she kept the sage burning. There was a lot more smoke."

"All right, try it again." Bonnie held the sage over the candle and Elena gave Caroline a look.

The blond sighed deeply before she closed the door behind herself. Bonnie was now the one to speak, "Speaking of Esther- you should know she came to see me and Abby this morning."

"Whatβ€” and you let me vent about Damon?", Violet shot at her before she approached Bonnie and Elena.

"I don't want any of you to worry-"

"Well, what did she want?", Elena questioned her curiously.

Bonnie shrugged lightly, "She wanted to introduce herself. Abby and I helped bring her back. She's channeling our entire ancestral bloodline for power. I think she thought she was being polite."

"Okay, well, is there a way to stop her from channeling you?", Elena suddenly questioned her curiously. "Even if there was, why would I want that?", Bonnie questioned her, not getting why she would think about that.

Elena sighed deeply while she sat down onto the edge of the bed, "I just keep thinking- before the sun and moon ritual, Elijah found a way to keep me alive. And now I'm in the exact same position and I'm just gonna let him die? It just doesn't feel right."

Suddenly the door to Bonnie's bedroom opened once more, revealing Caroline, "Okay, first of all, this privacy spell is totally another working- second, Elena, you are not doing this. Esther is doing this."

"There's no time to change your mind, Elena. He'll be dead by the end of the night", Bonnie told her friend and Elena frowned at her in shock. "What?"

Bonnie quickly explained, "It's a full moon. Esther needs to harness the energy of a celestial event. She asked me and Abby to join her."

"Be careful, Bonnie. I don't want you to get hurt", Violet warned the witch, knowing that it was dangerous for witches to get themselves involved imto vampire business.

The young witch smiled at her slightly and nodded her head, "I promise. But you have to promise to stay out of it."

Violet fell silent before she slowly nodded her head, knowing that as a human it was very dangerous for her to get involved into their supernatural stuff. "I promise."

For the rest of the day Violet stayed out of trouble, just spending a normal day with Adrian and her mother. But in the evening she got a call from Caroline, who was telling her all about their plan that had backfired and how Damon had to turn Bonnie's mother to intercept the witch line.

It was no questioned that Violet was immediately at Bonnie's house, being there for the witch and her mother.

She didn't knew Bonnie's mother very much, but she knew that despite their differences and their short time together Bonnie loved her mother.

She sat beside the witch, holding her hand when the doorbell rung. The dark haired woman gave her friend a quick glance, "I will get thatβ€” be right back."

She quickly made her way past Caroline and opened the door, revealing no other than Elena.

Violet exhaled deeply before she spoke while she leaned against the doorframe of Bonnie's front door, Caroline behind her. "She doesn't wanna see you."

"Please let me talk to her", Elena pleaded with her, but Violet only gave her a sympathetic look. "Abby's in transition. It's gonna be really hard over the next few days. And if Bonnie needs some time to deal with that, then I think you should give it to her."

"She's always been there for me, Violet. Please let me just be there for her too."

Violet exhaled deeply, her eyes watering up while she reached out and patted Elena's shoulder, "I'm sorry, Elena. I know that you wanna help but put yourself in her shoes. Everything that happened tonight was to save you. And that's okay, because she loved you so much- but somehow she's always the one who gets hurt."

Elena's eyes avoided Violet's while she nodded slowly, "Yeah, you're right. I justβ€” Just tell her that I love her, okay?"

Caroline stepped forward and grabbed Elena's hand, giving it a squeeze, "Of course we will."

Elena exhaled deeply, the tears running down her cheeks before she spun around on her heels and left.

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β Β Β  WHEN VIOLET AWOKE the next day, she got a shocking phone call from Elena, telling her that Alaric had been arrested for murder, accused by non other than his own girlfriend Dr. Fell. So the first thing she did that morning was to meet Elena by the hospital.

The two were standing next to their cars when Meredith Fell pulled up into the parking lot of the hospital.

The brunette climbed out of her car and immediately shook her head when she spotted the two girls approaching her, "I'm due in surgery. Whatever case you're gonna make against Alaric, make it quick."

"I don't have to make a case. He didn't do anything", Elena stated dryly while they started following her.

"How do you know? Sure, you live with him, he takes care of you. But do you really know anything about him?", the adult brunette questioned her.

Elena gave her a death glare while she scoffed, "I know enough."

"Let me tell you what I know-", Meredith spun around to face them. "He was arrested for fighting four times before the age of 21. When he was at Duke, his future wife Isobel filed a restraining order against him twice. Although then she married him, so I guess that says more about her."

Violet glanced at Elena, checking for her response, but the brunette seemed to be at a loss of words. After a moment she shook her head, "Okay, you're making all of this up."

Meredith frowned deeply, "Am I?- how would you know? You took pity on a borderline-alcoholic vampire hunter and you never even thought to look any deeper."

Elena gave her a confused look, "How could you do this to him? He didn't kill anyone and you know it!"

Meredith gave the brunette one last look, and scoffed, "You date vampires, Elena. It shouldn't come as a shock to learn that your guardian is a murderer." With that she spun around on her heels and walked away from them.

After a moment of silence Violet decided to speak up, "Okay- that's was interesting."

"Come on- I have a plan", Elena stated while she motioned for the girl to climb into the car with her.

After Violet had closed the door she started the engine, "We're breaking into her apartment."

Violet gave her a confused and shocked look, "We- what-?"

Elena just ignored her, "Call Matt- we meet there."

It didn't take Matt more than twenty minutes to meet them infront of Meredith's apartment and he immediately made himself useful when he opened the door to the apartment for them.

Elena gave him an impressed look, "Wow, nice job."

"I'll add breaking and entering to the list of live favours you own me", Matt joked while he walked further into the apartment.

Elena chuckled before she immediately started searching through the living room, "Okay, look. I don't know how much longer Meredith's gonna be in surgery, so let's see what we can find."

Matt was opened different drawers while he questioned her, "Don't you think the police already combed through this place? She handed over everything she had."

Elena nodded he head while she slipped through the pages of a book, "Yeah- I'm looking for evidence that she didn't hand over."

The blond boy gave them a questioning look, "And you're sure it's her we should be investigating?"

Elena exhaled deeply while she made eye contact with him, "I know him, Matt. He's innocent.- And I know that Meredith is a Fell. A founding family, which means-" she suddenly trailed off before she quickly approached a door on the other side of the living room.

Violet and Matt exchanged confused glances while Elena opened the door, revealing a closet. She slowly turnd on the light when the other's joined her.

The brunette went down onto her knees and quickly pushed back the jackets that shielded the wall. Violet and Matt watched how she let her hands run over the wall before she smiled at them. "Skeletons in the closet. Just like a true Founder."

Matt and her then switched places and he quickly opened the wall for them, revealing a box. He quickly pulled it out and sat it down on the ground infront of them.

There were lots of fiels in this box. Violet's eyes skipped over the names of the different files, "Brian Walters, Bill Forbes-"

Matt then pulled out another file, a concerned look on his face, "Alaric Saltzman."

Elena's and Violet's eyes fell onto the name tag and Violet felt how her heart beat skipped a beat.

Elena then started skipping through the rest of the fiels, "She's got everything on him. Medical records, old court documents."

Suddenly Matt pulled out a book that looked really really old. "What's this?" He eyed it carefully before Elena snapped it out of his hands.

She carefully opened it and her face fell into a deep frown, "It's an old Gilbert journal."

Violet gave them a confused look, "Why is one of your old family journals in her closet?"

"I don't know." Elena's voice was only above a whisper. Matt frowned at the piece of paper in his hand, "Didn't you say the medical examiner's time of death was between one and three a.m.?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Because the county coroner's office says that's wrong- ", Matt handed her the report and Elena glanced at it.

Their heads immediately snapped towards the front door when they heard approaching steps and a key chain. "Oh, my God."

They quickly grabbed the stuff from the ground and Elena silently closed the door behind them.

Violet hectically turned off the light in the closet and the three stood there in complete silence while they could hear Meredith enter the apartment.

After a moment Matt whispered, "I think-" but Violet immediately motioned for him to be quiet.

They heard Meredith's steps and after a moment the front door closed.

Violet released a deep breath and her heart beat finally slowed down before Elena quickly opened the closet door, revealing no other than Meredith Fell to them.

Violet's eyes widened and she felt her heart dropp, "Shit."

It didn't take long for the police to arrive and before Violet could comprehend what was happening she was already sitting in the sheriff's office.

"What were you thinking?", sheriff Forbes exclaimed loudly when she entered her office. "I know that we had no right-", Elena immediately tired to justify their actions.

"No right? You broke the law!", the Sheriff snapped at them while she came to a stand behind her desk.

Elena quickly continued, "But we found something that cleares Alaric- It gives him an alibi in Brian Walters murder."

"You mean this?", the sheriff gave them a questioning look while she held up a piece of paper. Violet frowned deeply, "What is that?"

The sheriff gave them an exhausted look, "A letter from the coroner's office correcting the error in the time to death of Walters. Meredith Fell received it today. She brought it to me, full of apologies for accusing an innocent man."

Matt now spoke up for the first time, "Why would she have a copy in her closet?"

The sheriff gave him an annoyed glance before she answered him, leaning onto her desk, "I can't ask those questions, Matt, because of the very fact that you broke into her home to find it. Do you know how much I'm already protecting you?

"I'm sorry-", Elena gave her a regretful look. "Just get our of my office and go home, please.- Alaric will be released as soon as the letter is authenticated-", she gave them a warning look while she nodded into the direction of her door, "Go!"

The three quickly hurried out of the police station and down the street. Violet felt the cold air hit her face and when they rounded the corner Violet immediately already recognized Stefan and Damon from afar.

The dark haired girl burried her hands in her pockets while she fell into step with Elena and Matt.

Suddenly her eyes landed onto a young blond woman that was unconsciously in Damon's arms.

Her eyes immediately widened when she saw the blood dripping from her neck, "What are you doing?"

Stefan immediately snapped around, his breath shaking while his eyes met Elena's. The brunette gave him a shocked look, "Stefan-"

He looked horrible, the blond dripping down his chin. The man quickly tired to whipe it away, but only smudged it across his lips, releasing another shaking breath. "Elena-"

Elena's mouth dropped open in shock, "What are you two doing?"

Suddenly Damon jumped in, "Relax, Elena. Just a little experiment. Don't make this more dramatic than it needs to be."

"Elena let's just go-", Matt begged her and the brunette gave Stefan one last look before Matt started pushing her around the corner and out of Stefan's sight.

Violet shot Damon an annoyed look, "Nice job, as always, Damon." And with that she quickly followed after her friends.

Elena was still shaken when they reached the Gilbert house, so Matt decided to make them tea and talk about it.

He settled down besides them, placing the mugs infront of his friends.

Elena looked into his face and exhaled deeply before she spoke, "Just say it-"

Matt shrugged before he answered her, "I just don't get your thing with them."

Elena but down onto her bottom lip before she started fiddling with her fingers, "I know it doesn't make sense. But at the beginning, after my parents died, there was something about being with Stefan that just felt safe."

Matt gave her a confused look while he spoke up, his voice a little raised, "Safe? Elena- he's a vampire."

"I know, believe me. Just saying it out loud, it sounds crazy, but- it's like I knew that he would never stop loving me. Like he would never -", Elena paused for a moment, her eyes wandering off into the distance.

"What?"

"β€”die. Like he would never die." She finished her sentence and Matt released a deep breath, now realizing what she meant. "- like your parents did."

Elena slowly nodded at him and deep down Violet knew that this was one of the resons she felt safe with Damon. She understood Elena, unlike her father, Damon would never die, he would always be there.

As if Matt had sensed her thoughts he turned his head towards the dark haired girl besides Elena, a questioning look on his face while he smiled, "And you? What's with Damon?"

Violet was caught of guard by his question but after a moment she exhaled deeply.

"Well- Damon just sort of snuck up on me. Even if I don't like to admit it- he got under my skin, and no matter what I do, I just-", she shook her head slowly, "I can't shake him."

Matt inhaled before he spoke, "Once you fall in love with someone, I don't know it you can ever shake them." His gaze landed on Elena and their eyes met, his eyes still filled with love for the brunette.

Suddenly realization was visible in Elena's eyes and Matt avoided eye contact. "I'm sorry- is this weird? Me talking about Stefan with you?"

Matt had a toothless smile on his face while he shook his head, "No-." He finally broke into a real smile, "Not really."

"I got you something." Matt then suddenly pulled out the Gilbert journal and handed it over to Elena. The brunette gave him a surprised look, "The journal?

He nodded his head at her, "It's your family's- you should have it. Meredith and that idiot deputy were too busy questioning you two, to give a damn about me. Sometimes it pays to be the only normal one in a town of vampires. You're practically invisible."

Violet saw how Elena smiled at him but the front door opening then caught their attention. Elena immediately stood up and approached Alaric, who had enterd the house, "Are you okay?"

The man immediately nodded his head, "Yeah, yeah, I'm all right." Elena then rushed towards him and gave the man a long hug, which makes Violet smile slightly while she watched them.

Her and Matt exchanged a quick glance before Violet carefully grabbed her bag from the tabel besides her, "Well, Matt and I are gonna head home."

She smiled at Elena while she passed her, "I'll see you tomorrow."

Elena quickly nodded her head at her before Violet was out the door, "See you."
