Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β THAT MORNING VIOLET was a little late, she had overslept that morning and Adrian was already with one foot out the door.
The dark haired girl quickly gave her mother a quick peck onto the cheek before she saw how Elena's car pulled up to her house. "Love you, later!"
Her mother waved at her from the door before the raven haired girl and her brother jumped into the car.
As soon as Violet sat besides the brunette the two smiled at each other, "Hey."
"Hey."
Violet immediately realized that something was off about Elena. The smile immediately vanished off her face before she questioned, "What's going on?"
"Well, I don't quite know how to start this-" Elena stated while she gazed at Violet, her hands tightly wrapped around the steering wheel. "Yesterday Klaus tried to kill Jeremy."
Violet's eyes immediately widened, "What- why?"
"Well, Stefan stole the coffins that contain Klaus's family and he wants them back", she released a deep sight before she went on. "Obviously, Klaus thought that violence would be the best option to convince me that I should find Stefan and persuade him to hand over the coffins. So he sent Tyler and Ethan to get Jeremy off vervain."
Violet frowned at her, "I don't understand." A deep frown was on her face while she gazed at the brunette.
Elena seemed to be totally out of her mind with rage, "They got him off vervain so that Klaus could compell him- Jeremy stood infront of a car!"
Violet was completely shocked by that statement, "What?!- Is he all right?"
The brunette raised her eyebrows and nodded, "Yeah, thanks to Alaric, who spent the night at the hospital."
Violet's mouth had dropped open in shock, she was speechless.
Elena gave her a small glance, "V, I know you still have feelings for Ethan and all- but please don't bring him by the house or in fact anywhere where I am or Jeremy is."
Violet nodded her head in agreement, "Yeah, of course. Totally understandable!" Her gaze went straight ahead while Elena started driving, "But I have to talk to him."
Elena nodded quietly while they continued the ride in silence.
After they had parked the car, the two were making their way over to Caroline's locker. It was the blond's birthday.
They were nearly finished decorating her locker when suddenly Bonnie's voice called out for them, "Hey, sorry I'm late!"
The witch was hurrying to their side, a purple sign in her hand, "I got held up."
"It's okay, we just got here too", Elena smiled at her while Violet was grabbing the balloons from the ground.
Violet nodded her head at Bonnie while she passed Elena the balloons, "What got you running late?"
"I- uh- was working on some new spells. You?" The witch gave her a wide eyed look.
"Working out with Alaric", Elena stated before they bothe glanced at Violet who shrugged. "I just overslept, like a normal person."
The two smiled at her before Bonnie held up the purple sign with the message, "Happy birthday" on it.
Elena took it from her before she made sure it was sticking to Caroline's locker, "So I have something I got to tell you. And you're not gonna like it."
Bonnie gave her a worried look and so did Violet, "What happened?"
"Jeremy's gonna be leaving town for a while. He'll be staying with old family friends in Denver until this whole Klaus thing blows over", Elena explained to them both.
"Jeremy wouldn't just leave you to deal with Klaus on your own", Bonnie immediately frowned at her.
Elena seemed guilty when she slowly nodded her head, "I know- I asked Damon to compel him."
Violet's eyes immediately widened, "You what?"
"I know- but it's not safe for him here anymore. Leaving will give him a better life", Elena immediately started defending her decision. "The only reason I'm telling you this, Bonnie, is because I know that you two haven't really worked out your stuff. And I thought maybe you'd wanna say goodbye."
Violet's saw how Bonnie galnced over Elena's shoulder, right at Jeremy a sad expression on her face.
Elena grabbed her bag and slung it over her shoulder before she made her way down the hallway, leaving Bonnie and Violet alone.
The raven haired girl gave the witch and nudge with her shoulder before she nodded over towards the Gilbert girl, "Go talk to him, Bonnie."
The girl gave her a small nodd before she slowly made her way over towards the boy.
Little did everyone know that Caroline was planning to skip school that day. She didn't show all day, which brought Elena to the idea to wait for her at home.
Violet had to skip that because she had to have a word with Ethan before she had to drive her brother home.
The dark haired girl was making her way quickly down the corridor to catch Ethan before he was going to football practice.
The dark haired girl spotted the boy a little further down the corridor and quickly caught up to him.
She made sure that no one was there before she quickly shoved the boy to the left. "What the hell were you thinking!?"
Ethan had a surprised expression on his face when he gazed down on her, "What!?"
Violet's eyes immediately narrowed at him, "Oh cut the bullshit! I know what you did to Jeremy! I mean- How could you?"
She could see the regret in his eyes before he spoke, "I'm sorry - okay!? I'm so fucking sorry- I didn't knew what he was gonna do."
There was a long and dreading silence between them before Violet gave him a soft look, "Sorry isn't gonna cut it, Ethan-" She seemed hesitant before she continued, "- you've changed."
"Yeah- I'm not the only one." The boy's eyes started tearing up as well when he realized to what this conversation was leading up to.
The dark haired girl gave him an apologizing gaze, "Okay- I deserve that." She thought back to when she told him about the kiss with Damon.
The boy gave her a regretful look and Violet sighed deeply. "I still love you, Ethan."
The boy met her eyes before he spoke honestly, "I love you too- and I know that I'm gonna want to fight for you, but I need time, V."
Violet nodded her head at him, "We both do. We can't pretent that everything's okay, when it's not."
The boy gave her a questioning look, "So this is the end?"
"For now. "The girl then quickly adjusted her strap of her bag over her shoulder, "I'll see you around."
She then turned on her heels and left the school building. Arriving at her car, Adrian was already waiting for her inside. The tears where still rolling down her cheeks while she climbed into her car and started the engine.
Adrian immediately placed a hand on her shoulder, stopping her from starting to drive, "Hey, what's going on, V?"
The dark haired girl gave him a quick glance before she whipped the tears away, "I just broke up with Ethan."
Adrian remained silent after that statement and just pulled her into a tight hug. "I'm sorry."
Violet let go of him and tried to slow her breathing down, "Yeah, I just need a minute."
"It's okay, let it all out", Adrian stated simply before Violet gave him a small smile. "Thank you."
As soon as Violet had brought her brother home and read the message to meet the other's at the cemetery she was on her way.
They all made their way through the dark gravestones, flashlights in their hands before Elena suddenly exclaimed, "There it is!"
They followed her into a creepy looking, old mausoleum.
Bonnie pushed the doors open and everyone followed her inside while Violet let her eyes wandered over the stone engravements, "This is creepy. Even for us."
"No, Caroline is right- technically, she's dead", Elena stated simply as she sat the cake down on one of the stones.
Caroline gave her a small glance, which made Elena apologize, "Sorry- But you don't need a birthday- you need a funeral. You need to say goodbye to your old life, so that you can move on with your new one."
Caroline exchanged a small glance with Matt before she grabbed the silver plastic crown from her head an huffed, "Okay.- Here lies Carolina Forbes."
"Cheerleader, Miss Mystic Falls, third grade hopscotch champion-", Elena stated and made everyone chuckle.
"Friend, daughter, over-achiever", Bonnie stated with a smile.
"Mean girl- sometimes, no offense", Matt added quickly and Caroline let out a laugh. "None taken."
Violet gave her a nodd before she continued the speech, "She was seventeen and she had a really good life. So rest in peace, so that you can move forward."
Elena grabbed the cake and placed it infront of them, "It's what you really need. It's what we all really need."
She glanced down at the cake, "Amen, or cheers, or whatever." They all chuckled before Elena glanced at Bonnie.
"Bonnie?"
The witch closed her eyes for a second and shortly after the candles on the cake lit up, casting light on everyone's face.
"Nice- Okay, make a wish", Elena encouraged their blond friend as she held the cake up into the air.
Caroline closed her eyes before she carefully blew out all of the candles.
Matt, Bonnie and Violet clapped their hands together and all cheered for her before Caroline grabbed the cake and started handing out the pieces.
Elena grabbed the beer from Matt and looked at him innocently, "I need it more than you do, trust me." Matt gave her a smile while he scoffed, but he led it go.
"Caroline, what are you doing?", Elena suddenly questioned in a firm voice. The blond suddenly looked up as if she was a deer in headlights, "Nothing."
"Okay, you're a bad sober liar, you're an even worse drunk liar", Violet stated immediately while she gazed at her friend.
The blond let out a long sighed, "I might have texted Tyler." Elena shot her an annoyed glare, "Caroline."
"What? I'm delicate", the blond sighed in defence, making Matt and Violet chuckle.
Bonnie suddenly frowned deeply, and snapped at Elena, "Give her a break. You can't control what everyone's does all the time!"
Elena's face suddenly fell when she heard Bonnie's words and the other's immediately felt the mood change between the two.
Elena's gaze was firm, "Wow." Matt was taken back by the witch's sudden outburst, "Ouch, Bon."
"I'm sorry, I know it's Caroline's birthday, funeral or whatever, but I just feel it's really wrong that you compelled Jeremy to leave town", the girl suddenly stated while she gazed at Elena.
The brunette frowned at her statement, "I'm doing it to protect him, Bonnie. I wanna give him a chance at a halfway normal life."
"He should be able to choose how he wants to live. You're taking his choices away", the witch argued back at her best friend.
Elena shook her head at her, "Bonnie, you can't tell him." The dark haired girl raised her eyebrows at her, her voice laced with sarcasm, "Why? You gonna compel me not to?"
Violet suddenly let out a deep and annoyed sighed, "Wow, you guys are totally ruining the mood right now, thank you."
Bonnie met her eyes before she nodded her head, apologizing, "Sorry- I'm just gonna go sleep it off or something."
She then gave Caroline an apologetic look, "Happy Birthday, Care."
Violet gave her one little wave before Bonnie disappeared into the graveyard.
The other's then proceeded to have a somewhat great night, before the doors of the Mausoleum cracked open and revealed no other than Tyler.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to crash the party", he immediately apologized when Matt got onto his feet, a dark expression on his face. "So don't."
Caroline, who had her head rested on Violet's lap immediately stood up, "No, it's - it's okay." She then smiled at Tyler, "Hi."
"Can I talk to you for a sec? It's kind of important", Tyler stated and Caroline sighed before she slowly agreed to follow him outside.
As soon as the two had left, Elena turned to face Matt, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah. I want her to be happy, you know?", the blond boy stated honestly while he took another sip from his beer. "It's what I want for all of you, in the middle of this crazy life you got stuck living."
"Is that how you see it? That we're stuck?", Elena questioned him slowly, her eyebrows narrowed in scepcism while she watched him.
Matt nodded before he answered her calmly, "I'd say it's attached itself to all of you pretty tight, yeah."
There was a long silence between them before Elena suddenly sighed. She quickly grabbed the bottle and also took a sip, "But Bonnie's right, you know? I have no business messing in Jeremy's head. I just don't know what else to do- He's in danger here."
She slowly shook her head, "I can't lose anyone else that I love." Violet slowly grabbed Elena hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze.
She really wasn't the best when it came down to this whole supernatural life. Violet was human, and she wanted to stay that way. But she didn't express her worries infront of her friends like everyone else did.
She suddenly snapped out of her thoughts when Matt rose to his feet, "I think we should go look for her."
"Yeah, they're gone for quiet some time now", Violet stated while she started following Matt outside.
After a couple of minutes of searching Elena sighed, "Great we've been abandoned. Okay, we're going in a search party! I don't trust that she won't get back together with him."
"Caroline!"
"Come on, Caroline! We don't have any more drinks! And Matt's being haunted by the Fell ghost!", Elena exclaimed jokingly before she nudged Matt into his side, making the boy chuckle.
Violet was still chuckling to himself when suddenly surge of air went past her. Matt was thrown against the brick wall and suddenly Elena was gone.
Violet's eyes widened, "What the- Matt!"
She immediately kneeled down beside the boy and Matt growned while he came back to his senses.
Violet was hitting his arm to wake him up and when Matt opened his eyes, he didn't seem to know what was going on.
"What happened?"
Violet shook her head, the panic rising in her chest, "I don't know- but Elena is gone and- Matt, we need to find Caroline."
She quickly helped the groaning boy up onto his feet and the two started making their way through the woods.
Violet's grip tightened around her flashlight and after what felt like hours, the two finally found Caroline.
As soon as Violet spotted the blond laying on the ground, her heart sunk and she felt like she was about to puke.
"Caroline!", she sunk down onto her knees besides the blond, shaking her. "Caroline!"
The blond was unresponsive and when Violet's eyes wandered over her body she spotted a bite wound on Caroline's shoulder.
The dark haired girl immediately jumped on it her feet and waved Matt over, her voice was scratchy and she felt the tears rolling down her cheek, "Matt- Tyler bit her!"
The thought of Elena's sudden disappearance was still in the back of her mind, but right now Caroline needed her help and she wasn't going to leave Matt alone with the hallucinating Vampire.
The blond boy didn't waste anytime and immediately scoped Caroline up into his arms before they brought her to Violet's car.
From there on Violet stepped onto the gas pedal and soon the two had arrived at the Forbes residence.
"Sheriff Forbes!", Matt quickly kicked the door open so that he could get inside the house.
Caroline's mother looked completely shocked as she spotted the unconcious Caroline in his arms, "What happened?"
Violet gave her a sympathetic look, "Tyler bit her."
The Sheriff's face had completed horror written all over it, "Oh my God. Sweetheart."
Matt brought the whimpering Caroline into her room and placed her down on her bed, which made her grown terribly in pain.
Her mother sat down beside her, grabbing her hand, "Caroline, honey, can you hear me?"
The blond sobbed uncontrollably, "I'm sorry, Mommy."
"She's been hallucinating- And I don't know- No one's picking up their phone!", Violet exclaimed as she tried to reach Damon once more, but it immediately went to voicemail.
Sheriff Forbes squeezed her daughters hand, a sorrowful look in her eyes, "It's alright, sweety."
Violet had a hand placed over her mouth, the tears still rolling down her cheek before she slowly stepped out into the hallway.
The dark haired girl started trying to control her breathing, but that failed as she spotted no other than Klaus by the front door.
The girl slowly made her way down the hallway and carefully opened the door, making sure that she was still inside the house, where he couldn't reach her.
"Tyler came to see me, the poor boy seemed quiet distressed, he said Caroline had a terrible accident", the original Hybrid immediately stated, his voice calm while he eyed her.
"Tyler would've never done this. You made him do this!", Violet immediately spatted into his face, her eyes narrowed at the original hybrid in disgust.
Klaus remained calm, looking her up and down, the arrogant look on his face, "I'm here to help, Violet. My blood will heal her. Please, ask the Sheriff to invite me inside."
Suddenly Sheriff Forbes voice came from behind Violet, making the girl turn towards her, "I know how this game works. You want something in return."
The Hybrid answered shortly, his arms behind his back while he spoke, "Just your support." The two stared at each other before the Sheriff nodded her head, "Come in."
Violet felt the cold shudder run down her back when Klaus slowly passed her, this cold gaze in his eyes.
The dark haired girl walked up to Matt and when she came to a stand beside him she carefully wrapped her arms around her old friend and let him squeeze her for a while.
A couple of minutes went by after and when Klaus left Violet and Matt joined Caroline again.
The dark haired girl carefully sat down on the edge of the bed before she grabbed Caroline's hand, "You really scared me today."
The blond gave her a toothless smile while she squeezed her hand, "I know."
There was a silence laying over them before Matt spoke up from behind her, "Caroline, promise me, as long as Tyler is sired to Klaus, you won't see him alone."
Violet immediately nodded her head at him, "Yeah, it's too dangerous."
Caroline nodded in silence before she gazed at Violet, "What about Ethan?"
"The same goes for him- who knows what else Klaus plans for us", she sighed before she slowly got onto her feet. "Rest well, okay?"
"I will, thanks."
Matt and Violet said their Goodbye's to Caroline and her mother and Violet then drove Matt back to his car before she drove home.
When she parked infront of her house she finally realized the exhaustion taking her over.
The dark haired girl leaned forward and placed her arms and head onto the steering wheel, just enjoying the silence for a small moment.
A sudden knock against her window made her jump in surprise, but she calmed down once she realized that it was only Damon.
Violet grabbed her bag and got out of her car, a deep frown on her face, "Where were you, Damon?"
The man had a blank expression on his face, "Well Stefan was convinced that threatening to drive Elena of the Whickery Bridge would force Klaus to send his Hybrids away."
Violet's mouth dropped open, "He did what?" Damon nodded in silence while the two walked upstairs to the front door of her house. "I got your messages- is Caroline okay?"
Violet nodded slowly while they came to a stand on the dim lit front porch, "Yeah weirdly- Klaus healed her."
A quick look of surprise flashed over Damon's face and Violet nodded slowly, "Yeah."
Damon gazed into her brown eyes, a worried look on his face, "You're gonna be okay?"
She put her hands into the back pockets of her jeans, while she held eye contact with him, "I was not the one nearly dying tonight, so I think I'll manage."
For a small moment, Damon's eyes flickered down to her lips, "You know, Stefan won this round for us, tonight. He pushed Klaus to the edge and Klaus blinked."
The girl scoffed loudly while she walked a little further down the porch, "Well, his method sucked and Caroline and Elena were almost collateral damage in his war with Klaus!"
She spun around to face Damon, who shrugged at her, "Still, we needed it. Klaus had been calling all the shots. Stefan beat him at his own game. He was the better villain."
"Don't sound so impressed while saying that", Violet immediately shot at him in disappointment. Damon gave her an innocent look, "Well, I can't help but be a little proud."
Violet sighed deeply and her gaze fell onto her feet before Damon's hand made it's way under her chin and she glanced up at him. "Really, tell me- you gonna be okay?"
Violet slowly noddd her head at him, still staring into his blue eyes before she felt him move closer to her, his eyes focused on her full lips.
Violet's breath hitched in her throat before she suddenly sighed, "Damon- everything's so complicated right now."
Her eyes were also focused on his soft lips, before they both stared into each other's eyes once more.
Violet sighed deeply, seemingly like she was trying to convince herself rather than him, "I don't- you need to know- I'm completely confused right now-"
She felt Damon's breath hitting her face and they were so close that their noses were almost touching each other.
Violet gluped while his hand was still cupping her jaw, "You can't kiss me, Damon- it's just not right."
Damon nodded slowly while he leaned slightly back, "I know-" he gazed deeply into her eyes, "-but it's all I wanna do."
Violet gave him a small toothless smile and placed her hand over his and Damon nodded once more, "And, it is right- just not right now."
The two exchanged one last look before Damon retreated his hand from her jaw. Violet felt how her heart slowed down, "Goodnight, Damon."
The man was already down the stairs and was making his way to his car when Violet finally sighed deeply.
But suddenly Damon spun around on his heel, "You know what- If you're already going to feel confused about something tonight, then feel confused about this."
Suddenly he was standing in front of her again and Violet's breath hitched once more when he softly grabbed her face and connected their lips into a passionat kiss.
After a second the dark haired girl started kissing him back and butterflies were erupting in her stomach, making her feel all fuzzy.
She quickly placed her hands on his wrists and Damon planted one last kiss on her lips before he slowly pulled back.
Violet was at a loss of words when she gazed up into his piercing blue eyes. His voice was seductively and only above a whisper when he spoke, smirking widely, "Goodnight, Violet."
