KATHERINE WAS NOT DEAD, BUT SHE WAS TRAPPED IN THE TOMB. Eleanor was almost free of the supernatural drama β€” except for Tyler, but that was manageable β€” when Stefan came up to her in the hall. The expression on his face told her that he was bringing bad news, and she audibly groaned, "What do you want?"

"Elena's missing," he informed her.

She pursed her lips, and she was seriously considering just trapping the girl in her room and putting a spell around it so that nothing could get in. And on top of that, put a freaking tracker on her, for God's sake. "Of course, she is."

"Bonnie did a locator spell, and Damon and I are going," Stefan told her, but his hopeful eyes let her know that he wanted something from her, most likely for her to go with them on their rescue mission. "But we have no clue what we're up against."

"Can we stop by my apartment first?" she asked with a sigh. She would be an awful person if she just said no, and she wouldn't forgive herself if she didn't go and then Stefan or Elena died. If she didn't go and Damon died, that was a completely different story.

He smiled at her acceptance, but she honestly just wanted to punch him and tell him to get the hell out of her face. "Yes, thank you."

"Whatever."

Eleanor was sitting in the backseat of Damon's car, sipping on a slushie from the gas station and reading a book. They did not inform her that it would take a million years to get there. She interrupted the boys' brotherly moment to ask, "Who do you think took her?"

"We were hoping you could answer that question," Damon replied, glancing at her in the rearview mirror. "We're guessing it's someone from Katherine's past. She said you guys were running from someone. They got the wrong girl."

She shook her head immediately, mostly out of denial and fright. "It's not him. We'd know if it was him. He can't do anything without insane theatrics."

"Who is 'he'?" Stefan questioned, turning around to raise his eyebrows at her. It probably would be extremely helpful for them to know, but if Eleanor was being honest, she liked her past staying secret from the Salvatores. Your past could get you killed, as shown in Elena's situation. These people kidnapped her because she looked like Katherine.

There were probably hundreds of people that would do the same to Eleanor. She denied everything again, avoiding the question. "It doesn't matter because it's not him."

"Do we need to be worried about this guy coming after you and mistaking Elena for Katherine, even if this isn't him?" Damon asked, and she just shrugged. It was entirely possible, but unlikely. He might come for Katherine, but he was never interested in Eleanor. "Helpful."

"We're getting close. Jeremy said there's an access road just past mile marker 6," Stefan told them, and they nodded, getting ready.

They stopped in front of a house, and Eleanor pulled her bow and her arrows out of the trunk, slinging the quiver over her shoulder. She stringed one arrow, getting ready in case they were hit with something immediately.

Stefan was first through the door with Damon behind him and Eleanor covering them from behind. She listened in to see if she could hear any voices, and a couple came through. Elena, an unknown woman, and... The Chetwood girl grinned, although under these circumstances, she probably should not have been happy.

Elijah.

Damon reached down, grabbing an old piece of wood off the ground before chucking it through a window. As soon as the sound rang out, they split up. Eleanor sped into another room and pressed herself up against the wall. She heard Elijah ask, "Who else is in this house?"

"I don't know," the woman responded with a stressed voice.

She heard footsteps and peeked slightly to see him dragging Elena into the room that she was just in. He was well-dressed as ever, and he was rocking the middle part at the moment. He threw the Gilbert girl into the woman's arms, and Eleanor furrowed her eyebrows. She recognized her, but she couldn't remember from where.

"Up here," Stefan called all of a sudden, and Elijah sped up the stairs. But then Damon said something from downstairs, and Elijah turned around to see that Elena and Rose had disappeared.

"Excuse me. To whom it may concern, you're making a great mistake if you think that you can beat me. You can't. Do you hear that?" Elijah called to them, making his way back down to the foyer and breaking a coat rack to form a stake. "I repeat, you cannot beat me," he reminded them, and that's when Eleanor stepped out.

"You sure about that?" she asked, and he turned around. She aimed her boy at him, ready to fire at any minute. She knew that it wouldn't kill him, but it would knock him out for long enough. His lips turned upwards when he saw her, not at all phased by her weapon, and she raised her eyebrows. "Miss me?"

He held his arms out like he was welcoming her into a house. "AlienΓ²r, I would say it's a pleasure to see you again, but I'm afraid that would be a lie under such circumstances."

"Well, you are trying to kidnap my friend, so I guess the feelings are mutual," she responded with a shrug.

He tilted his head curiously, glancing between her and the wooden arrow ready to fly. "I hope you're not under the impression that you can beat me."

"Wouldn't be the first time," she reminded him with a smug smile. "Wanna find out?"

However, Elena decided to be a hero, and she appeared at the top of the stairs. "I'll come with you, just please don't my friends, they just wanted to help me out."

Elijah sped up the stairs with the stake in his hand. "What game are you playing with me?" he asked, and Eleanor groaned, assuming that this was not going to end well.

But she was pleasantly surprised when the Gilbert girl threw a vervain bomb in his face. His skin healed immediately, but it was a good idea. He moved toward Elena, and while he was distracted, Eleanor fired the arrow at his chest. It would've gone straight in his heart, but Stefan dove toward the man and tackled him.

The arrow landed in Stefan's lower back as the two men fell down the stairs. Elijah jumped up immediately, but Stefan stayed on the ground, groaning at the puncture wound. Elijah started toward him when Damon appeared and slammed him in the door, staking him.

"I'll see you later," Eleanor whispered with a small smile as the man's body went gray.Β
