✶ ・・❛ I JUST LIKE YOUR LIPS. ❜
( ☼ )
AFTER AN EMBARRASSING THIRTY minutes passed of chris just standing on the same balcony he was lucky to have kissed clementine on, he snapped out of his trance of staring off into the distance and headed out to find his friends.
he texted matt and matt told him that the group were all in a random empty bedroom they found, wanting to get away from the noise of a party and watching reruns of impractical jokers on the tv. honestly, it doesn't seem very fun to chris, so he's hoping that when he gets there they're all talking rather than actually watching what's playing.
as he makes his way through the house, following along the vague directions matt gave him to find the room, he spots jax drunkenly laughing with his friends. his eyes roll into the back of his head at the mere sight of him before he glances around, searching for clementine. he doesn't find her around him and furrows his eyebrows, figuring she would have gone back to him already.
he doesn't think much of it and continues his journey to the random bedroom. once he finally makes it to the hallway that leads to the room, his eyebrows instantly raise, surprisingly spotting the missing girl.
her back is turned to him and she's walking ridiculously slowly down the hallway as her hand trails along the wall next to her. he recognizes her dress though and steps out towards her. "clem?" he calls questionably.
chris instantly knows it's her by the way she completely freezes. she doesn't move at all for a moment, so he walks towards her until he can stop right behind her. "please don't be chris, please don't be chris, please don't be chris," he hears her mumble repeatedly, making amusement instantly grow on his face. he reaches forward to lightly grab her hip and turn her around to face him, her body instantly tensing. her eyes are clamped shut, but it's useless, she recognizes the touch. "nooo."
she slowly peels her eyes open and chris' eyebrows raise at the sight he sees. her cheeks are especially red and her eyes have a slightly unusual gloss to them. he tilts his head at her, now realizing how slurred her voice is. "are you actually drunk now?" he asks the girl, silently wondering how she managed to get so drunk in the thirty minutes they've been separated for.
chris would wonder why she chose to go to alcohol out of all things, but he doesn't need to. he knows it's because they kissed. he knows she knows she still feels things for him and this is her way of trying to forget it. he knows her like the back of his hand, what can he say? he's used to these behaviors from her.
"pfffffft," clementine blows a huff of air from her lips, instantly giving chris an answer as a chuckle leaves his lips. "no."
"alright, clem," he sighs, amusement clear on his face as he glances over her features. his eyes jump over to her hand still resting on the wall for a second before looking back to her. "what are you doing?"
clementine opens her for mouth for a moment, confusing chris when no words come out. eventually, she shuts it and gulps before opening her mouth again. "vomit."
"what?" chris' eyes widen comically. "vomit?"
clementine gulps yet again and it suddenly clicks that she's trying to keep vomit down. he instantly snaps his head around, his eyes glancing over the three different doors along this hallway. he knows the one on the end is a bedroom since his friends are in it, so he uses his hand still on her hip to begin hurriedly leading her towards the door closest to them. "let's find you a bathroom."
clementine nods her head to the best of her ability and luckily, the door that chris opens first is in fact a bathroom. he quickly turns the light on, chuckling at the way clementine groans from how bright it is, and shuts the door behind him. he brings his other hand to rest on her other hip and guides her down to sit in front of the toilet.
clementine puts the toilet seat up and vomit instantly comes from her lips. chris cringes, squatting down to sit beside her. he moves her hair out of her face and holds it behind her so it won't get in her way.
after all the contents leave her lips, she groans loudly. "i'm a cheater," she says, a frown etched on her lips. "i am a cheater!" she exclaims, then having to empty her stomach in the toilet yet again.
chris sighs, moving her hair to hold it with one of his hands as he runs the other one up and down her back. "let it all out, baby," he speaks soothingly, his voice low.
once she's done puking, she instantly whips her head around to him. "you are an accomplice," she tells him seriously, him refraining from chuckling when she points her finger out to him dramatically. "and what is wrong with you?"
chris narrows his eyes at her. "you done yet?" he asks firsts, referencing to the throw up in the toilet. clementine pauses for a moment to figure out what he's talking about before sighing and nodding her head. chris then let's go of her hair but keeps his hand on her back as he reaches forward to flush the toilet. he then closes the lid and looks back to her. "i don't know, clem, what is wrong with me?" he speaks, amusement clear in her voice since that's all he finds in this situation.
"you can not call me that mid-throw up," she scolds him, him raising his eyebrows as it becomes clear that her being affected by the pet name is the problem here.
he tilts his head at her, giving a mocking furrow of his eyebrows. "why not?"
she narrows her eyes at him, seeing right past his confused act and allowing a groan to leave her lips. "i hate you."
a dry chuckle leaves his lips from her words. "oh yeah?" he raises his eyebrows at her challengingly, leaning in just a little closer to her. "you didn't seem to hate me earlier."
"pffft," the same noise from earlier instantly leaves her lips after he's spoken, making chris laugh to himself. "i can hate you and still kiss you," she tells him pointedly like that makes any sense whatever. he gives her a sarcastic nod like he understands when she catches him completely off guard by leaning closer to him. she slowly reaches her hand up to his face and his body tenses completely once her thumb strokes his bottom lip. time slows for the boy and his eyes glance over her face rapidly, catching how her features change. "i just like your lips," she sighs happily, giving him a lazy grin that suddenly reminds him that she is in fact not sober.
chris allows a smirk to form on his lips even though the alcohol is clearly getting to her. "my lips, huh?" he repeats amusedly.
"yes," she confirms, slowly allowing her hand to fall from his face. she tilts her head at him for a second. "don't let that get to your head though."
"oh, of course not," he nods his head through his complete lie before changing the topic, "so, are you ready to leave the bathroom now?"
"absolutely not," she answers, surprising him as she folds her arms over the toilet and puts her head down, a loud groan leaving her lips. "this party makes me want to kill myself."
"oh," chris blinks, unsure of what to say for a moment. "well, do you want to go home?"
"no," she raises her head so quickly that it almost makes the boy in front of her flinch. he raises his eyebrows at her as she repeatedly shakes her head. "my dad would kill me if i came home like this."
chris pauses, frowning for a second as he tries to think of something. once the perfect solution enters his head, the corner of his lips turn up. "you can crash at my place," he suggests.
clementine pauses for a moment and chris watches the way her face changes, wondering what her response will be. it becomes evident that she's still very intoxicated when she beams at him. "that is such a better idea."
"yeah?" he questions with an amused smirk on his face. once she nods, he pulls his phone out of his pocket.
he pauses for a moment, thinking about his friends all doing their own thing in the other room. ultimately, he clicks on the uber app instead of ruining their fun. he quickly orders one and they're a short distance away, so it should only take a couple minutes for them to get here. he sends a vague text to matt and then slides his phone back into his pocket, standing up.
after he's stood up, he notices clementine is making no attempt to move. he raises his brows and offers his hands out. "you need help getting up?"
clementine looks up to him and nods her head, gratefully taking his hands. chris smiles at the sight of their hands interlocked just because he can and pulls her up to her feet. she stumbles a bit and he stabilizes her by dropping one of her hands and wrapping an arm around her waist. her eyes widen and he smirks from her reaction before letting the touch go just as soon as it came. "alright, ready to go?" he asks nonchalantly.
she nods her head at him, so he speaks again. "just stay behind me and like.. keep your head down," he advises her. when she furrows her eyebrows at him, he sighs and goes on to explain, "wouldn't want anyone to see you leaving with your ex, right?"
"ohhh," clementine gets it now, nodding her head repeatedly. "right, right. got it."
chris then turns around and opens the bathroom door, the pair walking out together and beginning to make their way through the large house. clementine follows closely behind chris and keeps her head down just like he said.
it's not until they reach the main floors living room, that the place is suddenly overcrowded. clementine frowns and in need of security in the middle of a crowd, she walks faster and grabs chris' hand. the corner of his lips instantly turn upwards and he doesn't even glance back at her, just interlaces their fingers and gives her a squeeze to assure her he won't let her get lost.
in case it wasn't obvious, chris loves drunk clementine.
the pair finally reach the houses front door and waste no time going outside. as soon as they make it on the porch and the door closes behind them, clementine sighs. "whew," chris looks over at her amusedly because of the sound of relief that leaves her lips. "that got scary real fast."
"yeah?" he chuckles.
"yeah," she confirms, then looking at her feet as a frown take over her lips. "i feel like if i have to take another step in these heels, i'm going to fall on my face and die."
chris refrains from laughing at her description. he lets her words sink in for a moment before twisting his lips to the side in thought. after a few seconds, he wordlessly crouches down and reaches out for one of her feet. her eyes instantly widen. "chris!" she exclaims. "what are you doing?"
"taking them off?.." he responds questionably, feeling as if that was obvious.
"what!" she whisper-shouts, catching him off guard from her panicked tone as he sighs and slowly slides his eyes up to her. "i can not have my dawgs out," she practically cries.
chris rolls his eyes. "i'm not going to look at your dawgs, clem," he assures her, not at all caring about something so small when he just wants her to be comfortable.
clementine frowns, wanting to believe him, but just honestly feeling insecure about her dawgs being out. "you promise?" she asks in such a small voice that chris finds it adorable.
he gives her a soft, genuine smile. "i promise."
she nods her head, sighing. "okay," she gives in.
chris then reaches for her foot and this time, she allows him to take it. he unbuckles the strap of her high heel and slides it off of her foot, keeping his promise and moving onto the other one before he can catch a glimpse of her foot. he unbuckles the other shoe and when she's left barefoot, he picks up the heels and holds them in his hands as he stands up. "see?" he speaks. "you're fine."
clementine bites down on the inside of her bottom lip, wondering why he's always so kind to her despite the fact that he literally broke up with her. she glances over the soft features of his face, only seeing the boy she's always known more than herself. "you know, you're a really nice guy, chris," she speaks up, catching him off guard as he realizes the alcohol in her system has got things she's kept in spilling from her lips. "and it like totally sucks because i know you're a nice guy, so it's hard to pretend like i don't," she explains to him, her voice genuine and soft despite the slight slur to her words. "i just wish you weren't a nice guy who broke up with people on holidays." she frowns.
chris goes silent for a prolonged moment before he allows a frown to form on his lips as well. "yeah," he sighs quietly. "me too."
clementine awkwardly twists her lips to the side and is unsure of what else to say when luckily, chris getting a notification makes her not have to. he picks up his phone and glances to her. "ubers here," he tells her. the two then glance over to where all the cars are to see a new one pulling up—their uber.
the pair then begin walking down the porch steps and through the grass to make their way to the car. as they walk, clementine crosses her arms. "jax was the one who made me wear the stupid heels," she mumbles with a huff.
"fucking jax," chris instantly scoffs. he shakes his head in disapproval, clicking his tongue. "what type of guy forces you to wear heels?"
clementine blows air from her lips. "a stupid one."
"agreed," chris hums, a slight smile on his lips. he's having the absolute time of his life with this conversation since he knows it would never happen if she was sober.
clementine has a slight smile on her lips as well when she looks over to chris, a hint of playfulness dancing in her eyes. "i like how you shit talk him with me even though i know you like.. secretly want to be him so bad."
chris is instantly chuckling dryly at her words. "oh, baby, no," he shuts that down immediately, looking over to her and shaking his head with a smirk. "i don't want to be him, i just want his girlfriend."
clementines face changes just a smidge and chris catches the slight red tint taking over her face. his smirk only grows and he stops walking, catching her off guard. she stops walking as well and chris nudges his head to their side, her eyes glancing to what he's gesturing towards and finding that they've reached the uber. "c'mon."
chris and clementine then both climb into their uber and begin making their way to chris' house, completely unaware of how their exit together was in fact not unseen.
