NEW YEAR AU

there's nothing more special than welcoming New Year with my boyfriend, and soon-to-be husband, Phinks Magcub, an official member of the Phantom Troupe. growing up with this old man is sure to be troublesome (yes, we're childhood friends) but everything was worth it, knowing that i'll end up with him someday.

okay, i know that he's not the ideal type. he's not soft (man, he's rough. that's it.), he's always grumpy, he's not that handsome (but for me he is)...but all in all, he's a five-star man. he's the type of man i'd like to have children with someday. i knew that he's going to be a great husband and a great father.

"How was it?"

his husky voice aired while his rough hands touch my cheeks. me, on the other hand, lounged above him before started playing with his short hair. i nuzzled my nose on it, smelling his shampoo.

wait, something's not right. "Did you use my shampoo?"

"You haven't answered my question yet." he retorted, playing dumb while looking away. This man! how could he use a women's shampoo?!

"Answer my question first!"

he grunted, catching my hand mid-air before kissing the back of it. "Yes, I used it."

"Then why, you stupid old man?!"

"I'm not that old!"

i scoffed. "You looked like an old man for me!" i rolled over to the other side of the bed before standing up with my scattered clothes on the floor. since it's New Year, his friends are coming over to our place. yes, with that dangerous leader of theirs, Chrollo Lucilfer.

hearing his manly laugh, i mentally smiled, adoring it secretly. feeling his arms on my waist, he blew on my left air causing me to gasp.

"Now, answer my question. How was it?"

"Rough." facing him, i wrapped my arms around his neck. "But I damn loved it." then i kissed his nose. the clock showing us that it's just an hour before 12, signaling that we should start preparing for the countdown with the friends.

"C'mon. Help me in the kitchen." grabbing his shirt from the bedside table, i wiped it on his face. "Get dressed."

at that mere moment, i knew he's going to protest, i glared at him leaving him with no option but to follow me in the kitchen. That's my dog―I mean, my man.

"Y/N-chan!" the small, cheerful, blonde boy came running towards me hugging me before spinning me mid-air, leaving Phinks rolling his eyes. Jealous idiot.

"Shalnark, you came!"

"This is my first New Year with you!" he exclaimed before entering the house but before that, i saw he left some firecrackers on the terrace.

"Don't act so excited, idiot." my boyfriend interrupted, forcing Shalnark away from me. "And stop touching her," he growled.

"Someone's being overprotective."

"Uvo!" Oh my gosh! i missed him so, so much! i missed putting ribbons and different ponytails on his hair! "I missed you!"

"I missed you too, little Y/N!" hugging me back, it earned another scoff from Phinks. Seriously, he's so grumpy! It's New Year's Eve, loosen up, old man!

"I'm not little anymore!" i pouted, crossing my arms across my chest. he laughed so damn hard i thought our windows are going to break. he then patted my head before giving me a cheeky smile.

"I know, you're gonna get married next month! Take care of our friend, okay?"

"Of course, Uvo-chin!"

i smiled before running back to the kitchen to get my cooked ham and other dishes i prepared for this feast. swear to God, if they're gonna stay up until the sun shines, they'll have to wash the dishes! i'm still tired from the past activity with Phinks and i badly wanted to hit the bed and enjoy my dreams. but after all, i can't miss a memory like this.

the others suddenly popped up before our place got so messy and noisy at the same time. i want to mentally curse, thinking how much mess i'm going to clean tomorrow. time passed so fast and before we knew it, we're down to ten seconds before New Year.

"Ten...nine...eight..."

"Phinks, get your ass out here!"

i shouted at the blonde man gathering the firecrackers from the terrace. he cursed back at me, telling me to help but i just stuck out my tongue to tease him a little bit more. he set up the firecrackers with Uvo and Chrollo helping him before i felt his presence beside him.

"Three..."

"Y/N..."

"Hmm?"

Phinks faced me before snaking his arms around my waist again. awww, his face glimmers just by the light of the moon hitting it. Christ, he's so handsome...

"Two!"

"I love you, Y/N. So much," he whispered but enough for me to hear and enough for me to feel his emotions with those words. wrapping my arms around his neck once again, i inched my face closer to his.

"I love you too, Phinks. I can't wait to marry you."

"Dammit, me too. I can't wait to start a family with you."

everything seemed to disappear, leaving me and Phinks under the glittering sky. just me and him, welcoming another year. his words, no, our words will forever be etched on our hearts, on my heart. there's no way in hell i'm going to trade him for something and if i could, i will offer my life for him and our future family. and know, he's willing to do it for me and for our kids someday too.

Lord, thank you for giving this man to me. I'm very, very grateful...

"One!"

"Happy New Year, Y/N." i saw tears falling from his eyes, leaving my heart melting. our friends set the firecrackers on fire, adding colors to the sky but no matter how much loud it is, all i can hear is Phinks' heart beating for me.

"Happy New Year, Phinks." wiping those teardrops from his cheeks, i whispered back.

and with that, we started our year with a long, passionate kiss.
