the only thing inez has grown
to know is the harshness of the
world, and how small and
insignificant she is among the
grand scheme of things. the
world has no blunt edges, it is
sharplike a blade, you either let
it stab your pitiful, soft heart or
you harden and deflect. and for
the sake of her survival, inez chose
the latter, and believes that anyone
who doesn't is a weak-willed fool
that doesn't deserves anything.
she worked to get what she had,
and she has no sympathy for 
those who do not.

the 1660s were not a good
place for anyone that is not a rich white
man, and maybe once, she had a taste of
that world, but now it is ripped away
from her grasp, leaving her filled with
bitter resentment. she hated
and wanted that material comfort,
and even after she'd stopped caring
about an easy life, she still finds
herself seething for it. envy is a
parasite that she let burrow
inside her heart and now she is
jealous of what she cannot have.

and if she can never have it, then
nobody can. violence is something
she turns to when nothing goes to
plan. to destroy something is to
erase it from existence, to revert
the past, to get rid of anything else
that doesn't matter. violence is chaos
and chaos is an efficient weapon for
her to wield. 

of course, inez isn't an overpowering
product of her anger, she keeps it
controlled within her. as much as
she loves freedom, she also likes
being in control. it's a contrast
to what she believes in and it's
similar to what she hates, but 
she cannot deny the feeling
of being the head, as much
of a hypocrite it makes her.

inez isn't a cruel dictator,
 she lives by freedom
and believes in equality. 
the seas were a haven from
the oppressing government,
and the lack of rules enforced
there meant that she can do
whatever she wants whenever
she wants, but she does not
abuse it, rather she does it
for the sake of her crew.

speaking of her crew, inez
works well with them. while
she is their captain, she takes
the equal load of what they
carry and labored hard to keep
their ship afloat. teamwork
is essential in their crew, and
her status does not mean she
can be lazy.

among their ragtag little gang,
inez is treated like any other
person and not placed on a
pedestal for her captain role.
while she has her boundaries,
she wouldn't mind laughing
and chatting with her fellow
crew members and listen to
each other's stories. her blunt
nature is can be amusing and
interesting. but while she is
she will not hesitant to snap
back if you overstep, and this
is the where you do not
want her honesty to be
directed at.

and always enjoy conversing

- PILLAGING. it gives her a sense
of elation and a good adrenaline
boost to spice up her life. after all,
she can hardly call herself a pirate
if she stuck to the rules and hid
from the military.

- THE GOVERNMENT. she loves
being free and living by no rules,
and the government is the living
opposition to that.
- GENTLENESS. inez believes that
being gentle is a sign of weakness,
and weakness must be thrown to
the sea. life is supposed to harden
you, not make you soft.
- INCOMPETENCY. yes, she enjoys
being free-spirited and wild, but
laziness is not tolerated. her pirate
crew is built upon teamwork and
equality, so it'd be unfair if somebody
doesn't take the equal share of hardships.

her compass necklace, it's a reminder
of how far she had gone, and the only
thing ( other than her ship ) that was
originally her father figure's.

- BEING CONTROLLED. inez hates being
a puppet, which is also why she hates
the government, but knowing that
there are people above, people with
more power and can easily subdue
her is a terrifying prospect. while
she won't admit her fears, she is 
aware of it and tries to avoid
thinking about it.
- INFINITY. the oceans may be deep
and the seas may be endless, but there
is always the end of it, which comforts
her. the concept of infinity baffles her,
and after her death, she refuses to believe
that hell is infinite and technically everything
is, and is still in denial and terrified of it.

the world, and current
day inez slightly hates
her aunt for it. however,
she had a good relationship

MORGAN "BLACKJACK" SMITH
inez's father figure and mentor.
morgan was the former captain
of the la serpiente, and is the
one who introduced inez to
pirate life. he is neither forgiving
nor sympathetic, and taught her
the truth of the world and how
to survive it.

- she was raised by her aunt during her
childhood, as both her parents died shortly
after they were lost at sea during a storm
while travelling. this lead juliana to be very
overprotective of inez and often hid her from
the world, much preferring her to stay at home
and do housework, while she always went
out to do her "job".

- when inez turned 7, authorities broke into her
house and arrested juliana. turns out, she was
involved in a society that aided in helping
slaves escape and either sent them to safer
countries or assisted them in hiding. her
aunt was then publicly executed as an
example, and while inez was spared, she
was forced to watch. their house was then
burnt down shortly after the execution, which
left inez homeless.

- inez lived on the street for a few months, slowly
learning about the harshness of the world and
adapting to it. she cut her hair to disguise
herself as a boy to lower the chances
of being attacked and to also be more
likely to get hired for odd jobs. somedays
when things are not working out, she 
stole from unsuspecting merchants
or careless vendors.

- one day, while scrubbing the floor in
a bar, she spotted a wealthy-looking man
taking a swig of beer, clearly inebriated.
taking her chances, she managed to steal
a few spare change from one of his many
pouches. once her job was done, the man
went up to her and confronted her about
the stolen money, but instead of getting
angry or demanding it back, he chided
her for being too obvious and taught her
how to pickpocket properly. inez was
fascinated by this man, and learnt that
he was a pirate captain. seeing her
potential, he offered her to join his
crew, and leave her miserable theif
life behind.

- the captain's name was morgan, also
known as captain blackjack, became
a mentor and parental figure to her.
at first, she did the simple jobs like
scrubbing the deck, but quickly
learnt how to fight by watching 
her crewmates, and lessons by
the captain. slowly, she rose to
the ranks, becoming as dangerous
and formidable as the rest of the
crew, even leading raids on
smaller fleets. she fit in right
among the crew and began seeing
them as a found family.

- during a deadly skirmish, the first
mate died of his injuries, along
with a good chunk of the 
crew. captain blackjack made
inez his second-in-command
as he healed from his own
wounds. inez was soon
entrusted with the responsibility
as a first mate and substitute
captain, and she tried valiantly
to rebuild their crew to its
former glory. but news of 
the defeat of the la serpiente
spread to other enemy fleets,
the spanish military took
the opportunity to launch
an attack on the ship, which
ended up killing the captain
and ripping apart their healing
wounds.

- inez was automatically made
into captain, and she had no
time to grief her fallen mentor
as she needed to pick up the
pieces and start over. her crew
stuck by her side loyally, although
there were doubts at first, they
realize their young captain needed
support and help to fix the
aftermath. months pass, the la
serpiente restored to its former
glory, and they were back to
raiding and pillaging.

- but even though her hard work
has paid off, her heart was still
filled with bitterness. while she
did victoriously enact revenge
on those who had wronged her,
the death of her father figure
haunted her. soon, she found
herself seething over what 
others have. everyone was
moving on, except for her,
who let herself be overcome
with rage and envy. no matter
how many victories her crew
achieved, no matter how their
ranks grew, nothing can change
the fact that the government
could easily crush her fleet
with a single act, could hold
that much power they never
worked for. she did not just
abhor the government, she
was envious of their power,
their wealth, and thought
about how unfair it was,
as they didn't even suffer
half of what she had in order
to be in that position.

- her fears soon came true when
the ship docked on land to restock
supplies and mend the ship, the
military surrounded her crew and
tore the ship apart. inez rallies her
crew to fight, but the odds were
overwhelming. her crew, loyal to
the end, fell one by one, leaving
inez with a handful of survivors.
even though all hope were 
seemingly lost, she refused to
give up, taking down as many as 
she could before getting stabbed
from her back, body falling to the
sea.

- the first thing she felt in hell was
the feeling of her skin sizzling
and burning off like she was
being boiled in hot water.
the second was that all her
wounds that she sustained
throughout her life reopening
and ripping apart, making her
her current agony increase 
even more. while she can
still see and walk, inez's
predicament makes it
difficult to do so.
