After another long shift at St. Thomas Tara was finally on her way home and on her way to fix things with Jax. That's what she was trying since two weeks now, without much success, but now she had something on her hands that might work.

"Jax? I'm home", she called out in a whisper so she wouldn't wake up the boys since it was already late.

Just as she took off her shoes and put her bag aside, someone leaned against the doorframe to the kitchen and it was definitely not Jax. Her heart skipped a beat and anger rose inside her as she figured it was Gemma.

"Jax isn't here, sweetheart", Gemma said with a shit eating grin that made Tara's blood boil, her arms crossed over her chest. "He asked if I could watch the boys, said something about a date night."

"And he, out of everyone, called you to watch our boys? Did I miss a forced family reunion or? Must be nice being back in the game", Tara said, her voice dripping with sarcasm and false friendliness. "He's not on a date night, we're trying to fix things here. Now get out of my house, I don't want you around my kids, Gemma."

The older woman pushed herself off the doorframe and slowly took the few steps over to Tara, her hands now resting on her hips. "Come on, you're too smart for this, doc. You know about that new woman and so do I. You're not fixing shit here, Tara, he's in love with someone else."

"Bullshit", Tara spat angrily. "As soon as he finds out the truth about his little toy he'll get rid of her. I told her that he's mine and I'll do anything to fix things with Jax!"

"I'm impressed. Never seen you put so much effort into anything besides your work", Gemma said, somehow she seemed to be actually impressed. "But a little too late, don't you think?"

The doctor was about to go off again but decided against it and took a deep breath before she gave the file she had copied only a few hours ago to Gemma. Those informations about Cleo would be really helpful to get Jax back and show that bitch she was stealing the wrong man.

"Just look into it. You might be a fan of her now because she's all good with the club and the violence that comes with it but I think your opinion will change once you see this", the brunette said calmly while she passed Gemma and walked into the kitchen to make herself a cup of tea, pretty proud of herself for finding out all those things.

A confused frown appeared on Gemma's face as she looked down at the file in her hands. Without a second thought she looked through the papers and raised a brow at the information she got.

"Stupid bitch", the woman cursed under her breath and stormed into the kitchen. "I hope you didn't fake this shit because if you did, that would be low even for you. So, she's related to a Mayan and she's a junkie. What does she want from my son?"

"I don't know, Gem", Tara shrugged casually as she tried to hide the grin forming on her face by taking a sip of her still way too hot tea. "But I don't think she's serious about Jax. I mean, who's stupid enough to date a man who's part of an MC while the own brother is a well known member in a different MC? That screams trouble. I don't think he knows about that."

"Of course he doesn't know, he's blind as always when it comes to love", Gemma stated, clearly pissed off about the news. "Finally did one good thing here, doc. What are you planning to do with these?"

Tara just scoffed at the woman's comment. By now she was used to Gemma's comments about Jax and her relationship, it still angered her though.

"Not much, I'm going to show him. She was in the hospital often enough because of the too many substances in her body. She never overdosed yet but her brother brought her to St. Thomas often enough because she was passed out a few times. After the shit with Wendy and Abel, Jax won't accept this", Tara explained.

"So, this is your way to get Jax back, huh?", Gemma inquired, threw the file on the counter and lit herself a cigarette. "Smart, but you always were. That's one thing I never doubted about you. But the Mayan shit can cause some real trouble. You talk to Jax, don't show this to anyone. I don't want my son in trouble", she added, smoke passing her lips with each word.

Tara's eyes were locked with Gemma's for a long moment. They were never best friends, and would never be, but maybe they could work together in that case. The brunette knew Gemma was always able to put shit in Jax' head and manipulate him; maybe this is exactly what she needed in case she wouldn't be able to convince him that Cleo was nothing but a junkie.

"If you help me with this I'll make sure you're gonna see the boys on regular basis again", Tara paused for a moment. "I know we had our differences but we could try and forget about them, start over."

Gemma was quiet and smoked her cigarette in peace and wordlessly, her eyes never leaving Tara, which she knew made the doctor feel unbelievably uncomfortable. The matriarch put the cigarette out in the ashtray on the table and sat down on a chair.

"You think I'll ever trust you again, baby? Forget it. You made sure to take my son away from me to a point where he wasn't even talking to me anymore. You made sure he wouldn't let me see my grandbabies after shit with Clay went down. Suddenly, I was bad grandma. I'm not doing you a favor here. You do this on your own, doc. Feels horrible being all alone, right?", Gemma's voice was low and hoarse, sounding absolut drained and emotionally exhausted.

"I thought we were on the same page here! Have you listened? She's a junkie. What if she ends up pregnant? Want the same shit that happened to Abel happen to another grandchild?", Tara asked in a frustrated tone. "Just get out of my house if you can't even help!"

"No, Tara, I don't want it to happen again but I'm not doing anything to get on my son's bad side again. I'll fight my way back into this family and there's nothing you can do about it. If he's really in love with the girl he might be able to help her and for his own safety I'll keep an extra eye on her", Gemma said firmly, a dead serious expression on her face. "And I'm not leaving, Jax told me not to leave you alone with the kids."

Tara was already a bundle of nerves and Gemma's attitude didn't make shit better, it only made it worse. "He'll never let you fully back inside", Tara said as she let out a scoff. With force she sat the cup in her hands down on the counter and spilled some of the tea yet she didn't care and stomped to the bedroom like a four year old during a tantrum.

"What do you know about your girlfriend, Jackson?", Gemma sat down with her son who just came home and made himself comfortable on the couch with a babbling Thomas bouncing on his lap.

The Matriarch had no chance yet to meet the new woman by her sons side and was slowly getting impatient about that. At the moment she had no right to make demands and she knew that, but she couldn't watch her son getting lost in another relationship which was doomed to fail.

"What kind of question is that, ma?", his confused blue eyes looked right into hers, finding her question more than weird. "You already got a problem with her or what?"

"No", Gemma shook her head, handing him the file Tara had left on the kitchen counter yesterday for him to find it in the morning. "Tara looked into her. I don't know how she found out her name but what she found isn't great, baby."

Jax sat Thomas down on the floor where Abel sat in front of the coffee table drawing something. He then took the file from his mother and looked through it. The Mayan part didn't surprise him of course, but the junkie part did.

"And we know for sure Tara has those from the hospital and didn't make them herself?", he asked, his body starting to tense up. Normally, a history like that wouldn't bother him but this was about his girlfriend.

The shit he went through with Wendy and Abel, he didn't need that again yet he knew Cleo was totally different. You couldn't compare Wendy and Cleo, not even a bit. He couldn't believe his girlfriend kept this from him, it also made him angry at himself for not noticing.

"I don't know, you have to find that out on your own but I think this is real. I know you, Jax, why weren't you surprised reading the relatives' name? You knew she's part of the Mayans?", Gemma asked bluntly.

"She's no part of the Mayans, mom, her brother is", Jax snapped at his mother, giving her a warning look. "You keep this to yourself for now. I'll talk to the guys about it soon but I need to figure the other shit out first."

He was in a lot of uncomfortable situations in his life, especially recently, but this was the cherry on top. If Cleo had lied to him all the time, what would he do? Didn't she trust him enough to talk to him about her problems? Sure, he kept some things to himself, too, but they were club related and not about his private life.

An addiction was something the other should now about, especially when kids were in the game. He had trusted her with his sons more than once now and she never thought about telling him the truth?

"I don't like this, Jax", Gemma said sternly.

"Well, I don't give a shit about that right now, mom", the blonde told her in a stressed tone and got up, rolling the file in his hand to put it in the inside of his kutte. "I'll be back in a few hours. Can you stay with the boys?"

It wasn't his favorite thing to do to let Gemma back in this quickly but he had no other choice. They had no babysitter or nanny at the moment and he wouldn't let the kids go to daycare where Tara could easily take them and leave.

In a few days he finally had an appointment with Ally, the club's lawyer, to request a file to reverse the adoption that Tara was no longer Abel's official adoptive mom. And then he would file for sole custody and finally could tell Tara to move out of his house.

"Yeah, sure", Gemma said eagerly and ran her fingers through Abel's blonde hair, smiling at her two grandbabies before looking back at her son. "Just don't do anything stupid, Jax."

"Yeah", the man let out a deep sigh, slicked his hair back with his hand and pressed a kiss on his sons head's before heading out to have a talk with Cleo. He wanted to hear things from her and see if they could find a solution. He had some strong feelings for that woman already and wouldn't give her up because of her addiction; in case she was ready to change things. And after that, he would have a serious talk with his ex for stalking his new girlfriend.
