ย ย ย "IF YOU SWERVE ONE MORE TIME ON THIS BLOODY ROAD, I'M GOING TO STRANGLE YOU, FRED WEASLEY."ย Lauressa Arias snapped, feeling her stomach flip and her nails dig deeper into the armrest as the ginger-haired man only laughed, swerving, once again, into the other lane. Flashing her eyes over to him, the girl huffed in annoyance.
ย ย ย A jumble of compiled complaints and moans echoed from the backseat as the car continued traveling down the nearly empty highway. "You know," a voice spoke up loudly, "when you suggested we go on a field trip, I thought we would be going to get food or something, but no. We're driving down the highway at nearly one in the morning with a lunatic who cannot drive to bloody well save his life."
ย ย ย Turning her head, Lauressa snorted as she looked back at Zacharias, who was squished between Blaise and Ginny, both of whom had others sitting on top of them. Morgan Ivy sat on top of Blaise while Luna Lovegood was curled up on her girlfriend's lap, twirling locks of wavy, ginger hair between her fingers idly. In the row of seats behind them sat Harry, Ron, Pansy, Hermione, George, and Draco. All of whom were not enjoying themselves in the slightest.
ย ย ย "Fred, please tell us where we're going," Pansy groaned from the very back, shoving Ron over so she could have more room to sit.
ย ย ย Ron gasped as he shot daggers at the black-haired witch, "Oi! Stop shoving me! There's no more room!" His outburst was only met with a simple gesture, to which George chuckled at.
ย ย ย Turning her attention back to the man opposite her, the brown-haired girl peered at him quizzically, curious as to where the lot was headed.
ย ย ย Instead of answering, Fred remained stagnant; his eyes locked on the road as The Beatles played softly on the radio. In the background, everyone could hear Ron and Pansy bickering, as they always did.
ย ย ย From where she sat in the passenger seat, Lauressa couldn't help but pause and admire how Fred looked at that moment. All his muscles were relaxed, and his left hand loosely gripped the steering wheel as the other lay in his lap. Despite the milky darkness, she could still outline the shape of his face; sheย could still see silver and brown specs floating around near his eye's pupil, giving them an enchanted, ethereal glow.
ย ย ย A car passed by theirs, and its headlights darted over the group in a matter of seconds, illuminating their world.
ย ย ย The harsh headlights enhanced and magnified every minuscule feature on his face. His freckles stood out more than they usually did, and they looked like a cluster of raindrops on his cheeks and nose, spreading out gradually. His lips were glossed over with a brief yellow hue that gave them a fuller effect; his jawline appeared more prominent and salient and shaped his face with a golden outline that encapsulated her.
ย ย ย As the car passed, Fred smiled, diverting his attention from the road to his girlfriend, who'd been gazing at him the entire time. Reaching over, he grabbed onto her hand, interlacing their fingers as a delicate blush dusted over her cheeks. They'd been together for three years, yet the ginger-haired man still managed to make her blush at the simplest of gestures and affections.
ย ย ย She looked down at their interwoven hands, bringing them up and pressing a soft kiss to the back of his before squeezing it. He squeezed back, smiling over at her adoringly before looking back at the road.
ย ย ย It was crazy how quickly she fell in love with him at the beginning of their relationship, and it was crazy how she still fell more in love with him every day.
ย ย ย This endearment that she had for him was something that had never faded, which was surprising because everything in her life seemed to disappear at some point. Her parents, her family, old friends, her reputation after she became an orphan, and the torture she endured. Almost everything, but not him. She still didn't fully understand how he could love someone like her and cause her to feel so many different emotions simultaneously. Something about him and the aura that glowed around him enticed her and made her only want more.
ย ย ย Maybe that's why, as she stared at him at one in the morning, she fell even deeper into the black hole she created years ago.
ย ย ย "Why're you staring at me like that?" Fred asked, snapping her out of the bubble of solitude she had been keeping shelter in. Blinking, she glanced away as her cheeks burned profusely.
ย ย ย "Like what?"
ย ย ย "Like you want to marry him right now!" Draco shouted from the back, sticking his head out from behind Harry.
ย ย ย Turning her head, Lauressa held up her middle finger, waving it in the air at her cousin. "I could say the same about you when it comes to Harry, now shut the fuck up and mind your business," she called, earning a loud laugh out of Blaise.
ย ย ย Draco's pale cheeks burned to a bright crimson color as he buried his head into the raven-haired boy's back, wrapping his arms tighter around his boyfriend. "Touchรฉ." He muttered quietly.
ย ย ย "Laur," a voice spoke softly, and Lauressa looked over at Fred. "Is everything alright?"
ย ย ย "Yeah, yeah, I just love you a lot, that's all," she said softly.
ย ย ย The ginger-haired boy grinned cheekily, glancing over at his girlfriend with bright eyes. "And I love you," he murmured as the car stopped at a stop-light, leaning over and pressing a tender kiss to her lips.
ย ย ย In the back of the car, George smiled happily at the two. They did it. They survived the war and were now creating the lives they always wanted with those they loved.
ย ย ย Fred was getting his happily ever after, as was Lauressa.
