❝ is he okay or is he just like that? ❞

THE TEAM WAS in their jet, traveling to durant, oklahoma. penelope had briefed the team about the murders of two women. they were discussing the victimology of the unsub, before hotch gave them orders. "dave, you and i will talk to the parents, morgan and prentiss, go to the disposal sites. jj, you, reid, and griffins will go to the abduction sites." hotch ordered them. olivia looked up from her manila folder full of information and crime scene pictures to see spencer practically ignoring jj. she felt some sort of unresolved tension going on between them.

the group of three were walking down the street. "so, beth got off the bus here and headed northwest toward class." spencer noted aloud.

         "it's amazing no one witnessed her abduction." olivia commented.

         "i know someone who was buried six feet under and wound up in paris, so i guess anything is possible, right jj?" spencer made a snarky remark, causing a puzzled look on olivia's face as she glanced at jj.

         "so, that's what this is about." jj said to herself, but loud enough that both olivia and spencer heard. however, spencer was quick to ignore her, "you know, maybe our unsub's a little like bundy and he feigned an injury in order to get her to help him."

         jj turned her body to face spencer, making him and olivia stop in their tracks, "spence, if you want to talk about. . ."

         he glanced at olivia before cutting jj off, "maybe he tried another tactic and was like, 'wow you're really pretty, you should be a model, i can take your photo.'" olivia eyes widened a bit at the attitude spencer was giving. she looked at jj, who slightly shook her head. olivia wanted to speak up — something that was actually more about the case, but spencer was quick to disrupt her.

         "either one would disarm her."

         jj chimed in, "charm's quite the killer."

         "so are tears." spencer bluntly retorted. there was a small pause afterwards, which jj glared at him during the short period of silence. it allowed olivia to actually get a sentence in, "so whatever his ruse was, the unsub most likely used it to get her into his vehicle."

         "well, if abby was last seen at a bus stop a few miles away, then he definitely has means of transportation." jj said.

         "hopefully, the disposal site will tell us more." spencer said as he walked through the space in between the two girls, leaving them just standing there.

         olivia spoke up, "is he okay or is he just like that?"

         jj let out a sigh, "no, um it's just that a few months ago, emily faked her death and hotch and i helped her." the two started walking the same direction spencer went as jj continued explaining the story to olivia, "no one else knew and it hit everyone really hard. both times, when she 'died' and when she came back."

         "wow, that must've been hard for all of you." olivia told her.

         "it was. and now spence is really upset that i lied to him." jj took a quick pause before realizing what exactly she revealed to olivia. "i'm really sorry, i didn't mean to drop all of that on you. especially since it's you just joined the team."

         "no, jj, it's fine. trust me. but hey, if he's ever acting. . . attitudinal, or petty towards you, i'm always here if you want to talk about it." olivia offered.

         "thank you, liv."

         "of course, anytime." the two had small, nice grins plastered on their faces. jj really does like olivia. she thinks she's very sweet and understanding, and frankly, she doesn't think she has gotten along with a new member so quickly.

         a few hours later, and another body was found. olivia stayed behind at the local police precinct while rossi took her position with reid and jj. emily walked towards her with two cups of coffee in her hands, handing her one of them. "oh, thank you." olivia said, the generous action caught her a little bit off guard.

         emily smiled her, "um, so jj told me what happened when you guys were looking at the abduction sites." she said, sitting down on one of the chairs next to her.

         a slight awkward chuckle came out of olivia's mouth, "uh, yeah, it was kind of awkward for me to just witness."

         "he doesn't normally act like that. everyone is just having an adjustment to me . . . you know, being alive when they all thought i wasn't." emily explained.

         "it's okay, i understand."

         "i hate to ask this, but what do you think i should do with him, to make things right with him? you're basically the female version of reid." emily asked.

         liv thought about it for a second. "maybe just give him some time. granted, i've never been in his or your position, but i think that could be what's best for this predicament."

         emily placed her hand on top of olivia's that was resting on the table as a sign of thanks. then, hotch came in the room, "we need to deliver the profile."
