Catch You On the Flipside, MuggleFuc-
Tegwen always knew she wasn't going to stay in New York City for the rest of her life, there were far too many people around for her liking. However, the woman didn't plan on leaving under the circumstances that had come upon her. She didn't realize that she had brought back a carnivorous plant back with her from Giant Country and she certainly didn't expect to go running into Newt Scamander after many years of trying to hide away along with pain she had carried for so long.
But it was time to go home, even if she didn't know what to expect fully upon going back. What she did know was that her fathers would welcome her back into her childhood home with open arms. They would laugh, cry, and scold her profusely after she explained everything that had taken place during her time away. But Tegwen would be overjoyed just to see them and be in their company.
She would be even happier when her life returned to somewhat of a norm once she got herself another wand to replace her old one. All were good things for the woman to look forward to.
However, Tegwen wasn't so sure how the time was going to go on the boat ride that she would be sharing with Newt. In fact, the woman was rather nervous about the entire trip home, mainly because it would just be her and Newt alone.
Over the course of the few days that she had been reunited with her old classmate, she had Tina, Queenie and of course, the wonderful Jacob as support. Without them, all Tegwen wanted to do was crawl back into the shell that she had broken out from within the last few days. She had been able to say what she wanted to Newt, things that had been building up for years for her and she heard what she wanted to hear.
Newt gave her the apology she wanted and more, but it didn't mean that things were 100% between them. They had gone for years without talking, they really didn't know anything about each other since the time back at Hogwarts, but certainly, some things had changed since the time they were teenagers.
A knock came at Tegwen's door as the woman was packing up some last minute things to bring with her home. She had already sent an owl to her fathers, explaining that she would be coming home and that she would explain everything when she arrived. She figured it was Newt as the man claimed he had some "unfinished" business to attend to before he left that morning. She couldn't even stop him if she wanted to but she really didn't want to know what the man was up to. She just hoped that he stayed out of trouble because she really didn't want to get involved in another situation.
She was simply counting her blessings that she wasn't facing any charges from MACUSA and that they hadn't condemned Freud for breaking several ribs of the Auror. Tegwen figured he wasn't doing anything too foolish as he had left Pickett back at her place, as the little bowtruckle had become quite fond of Freud and spent a great deal with the other plant-like creature.
It was common knowledge that Newt was not going to leave Pickett behind even though the two had been bickering back and forth. Newt continued to try bringing Pickett back to the other bowtruckles but Pickett refused and wrapped himself around Freud, unwilling to part with his new friend.
They were best friends or as Tegwen liked to refer them to " strictly plantonic," which certainly earned a snort from Newt.
"Come in," Tegwen called, only to have Queenie and Tina come into the flat.
"What are you two doing here?" Tegwen said with a bright smile. "I thought we said our goodbyes last night."
"Did you really think you were going to get away that easy?" Queenie asked her, bringing her into a hug. "It's like you don't know us at all, Tegwen."
"I figured I would accompany you and Newt to the harbor, just to make sure you two don't get into any trouble," Tina told her with a wink.
"Well, I'm not the one you need to worry about," Tegwen said walking back over her empty living room.
"Are you sure about that, honey?" Queenie said with a smirk. "Because over the last few days, I've seen this whole other side to you, one that I really like and I hope it sticks around until the next time we see each other."
Tegwen looked bashfully at the floor, rubbing her foot against the hardwood before looking up at the two women.
"You know, I'm really going to miss you two. Terribly!" She said already feeling the tears and the lump in her throat.
"Oh Tegwen, don't cry! Because if you cry then I'm going to cry!" Queenie said before wrapping her arms around the woman and holding onto her tightly. "Now you've done it."
Tina watched the two women cry before Queenie grabbed her and dragged her forward making it a group hug all around.
"Great, now you two are making me cry!" Tina said wiping at her face.
Suddenly, the door to the place opened and Newt stood in the doorway, coming onto the scene of the three women crying.
"Uh...should I give you all a moment?" He asked awkwardly going to back away.
"Don't be silly," Queenie said. "I need to give you a hug too."
"Aren't you coming with us?" Tegwen asked her. "You're not going to the Harbor?"
"Unfortunately no, you know I don't like goodbyes like that. I don't want to make a scene," Queenie smiled before hugging Newt.
"But you wouldn't-"
Tegwen tried to insist but Queenie interrupted her. "I hope you two have a safe trip home and Tegwen, you better write to me and tell me all the good stuff."
"All the good stuff?" Tegwen said to herself. "What do you mean?"
She looked up to see that Queenie was gone, leaving the three alone in the room.
"Well," Tina clasped her hands together. "Are you two ready to go?"
Standing near the harbor, Tegwen was looking out at the water before she was caught off guard by Tina's hug.
"I just want to say I'm sorry again-"
"Tina, if you apologize again, I'm going to drown you, right here, right now!" Tegwen laughed. "Really, don't apologize. It was all a mess, full of chaos, but it was probably the most fun I've ever had in my entire life. So thank you for dragging me away from my lunch."
Tina laughed as well and gave the woman another squeeze. "You think you can handle an entire boat ride with him?" She whispered to Tegwen.
"Um..not to be rude or anything, but I can hear you," Newt's voice rang out from where he stood a little ways from them.
"I think I'll survive," Tegwen said to Tina. "I mean, I've already Death, how many times?"
"Don't jinx yourself."
Tegwen nodded before Tina turned to Newt.
"I just wanted to thank you."
"What on earth for?" Newt questioned, looking quite surprised.
"Well, you know, if you hadn't said all those nice things to Madam Picquery about me, I wouldn't be back on the investigative team," She said.
"Tina, they needed you back on that investigative team," Tegwen told her. "You could run the whole thing if you wanted to. We should start the campaign right now, Tina for President!"
Tina giggled as if she had just taken a shot of Giggle Water. "I think you might need some more sleep, Tegwen."
The last call for boarding came causing Tegwen and Newt to look in the direction of the boat.
"Go on, you two," Tina told them. "And stay out of trouble!"
"Don't tell me, tell him!" Tegwen said pointing an accusing finger at Newt.
"Oh no, it's the quiet life for me from now on," Newt said with a shake of his head. " Back to the ministry and deliver my manuscript."
"I'll look out for it, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," Tina said noting it to her memory.
"I'll send you a copy," Newt told her. "Or I'll have someone personally deliver it to you and your sister." He looked in Tegwen's direction, who was already becoming distracted by Pickett and Freud fussing about in her bag.
"Don't make me come in there!"
Tina smiled. "Please do, we'll appreciate her visits."
Once the final goodbyes were said, Tegwen and Newt boarded the boat as Tina left them with a smile on her face. Tegwen wanted to enjoy the air for a bit as she sat down in one of the outdoor seats and looked about. Newt settled down beside her, bringing her to look over at him.
"You still have your Hufflepuff scarf after all these years?" She asked him.
"Of course I do...is that...odd?"
"Nope!" Tegwen said pulling out her Ravenclaw scarf from her back that Pickett was holding onto. Pickett jumped back into the bag to keep warm while Newt gave the woman a smile as she wrapped the scarf around her neck.
"So," she began, "are you going to tell me why you call me Twiggy?"
"Only after you tell me what happened with you, Freud, and the Auror. Also, don't forget the raining refrigerators."
"I mean, how do you leave out the idea of raining refrigerators in the first place, Newt? Honestly."
