"You have your own room."
"I like this one better." Evelynn sass, plopping ungracefully on the god of mischief bed in the room assigned especially for him under the plead of his brother not to treat him more like a prisoner as he already is.
For that, Loki silently thanking his brother for the thoughtfulness.
Loki however wasn't thanking the facts that the newfound Stark rolling around his bed, messing the sheet and grabbing the pillow to plop onto. With limited powers he has, the god let out a loud sigh and look over the bookcase fill with books that he has read and some he never had a chance to. Picking a book called Crime and Punishments, written by Fyodor Dostoevsky, he took a seat at the comfortable-looking sofa near the window.
Quite a typical book for someone like him in his current situation but he give it a read anyway.
It was a surprise to him how cosy his room was when agent Romanoff shows it to him with Thor trailing behind, a satisfied smile on his face seeing that his brother was given a sheltered place.
The god of thunder sadly didn't stay long. He has to go back to Asgard, another perk of Loki's doing. He was given duties to keep peace on the other realms in place of his father that busy with Asgard itself.
The news left a bitter taste in his mouth but he gives his brother a silent nod of understanding but not before telling Thor to send his regards to their mother and at those acts, Thor pulls his brother into an embrace even knowing how much he hates it.
"What are you reading?"
Evelynn's voice snaps him out of his readers which earns a scowl from the god. He didn't answer her question verbally, just showing the cover of the book and continue reading.
Soft hums reach his ears, follow by soft creaking and he can feel Evelynn approaching him but her eyes weren't looking at him. She stares outside of the view behind him.
Her brown eyes shine from basking under the light of the sun, watching down on the view of New York City. She sits on the sofa next to him, eyes not leaving the sight of buildings of different sizes and shapes.
"Do Asgard have buildings like all this?"
Loki scoff in disbelief at her words but missing the smile on her face who know that she hit the nerve. "What an utterly ridiculous your imagination can be?! In Asgard, we have a collection of elaborate buildings and intricate spires and better views. The sight was breathtaking. It is not round like the Earth, does not spin on its axis, and does not revolve around a star. It is a flat, the asteroid-like mass that has a top surface with a gravitational pull."
Evelynn holds back her smile noticing the pride looks twinkling in his stunning emerald eyes and leaning against her knees with great interest.
"—terraces top many of the cliffs, gleaming pyramids, statues, and columns surround Odin's palace - Valhalla, a many-tiered structure resembling a towering pipe organ - at the centre of the city. And the Bifrost Bridge, which provides passage to all the Nine Realms, but can only be opened if permitted by its guardian, Heimdall."
"Rainbow Bridge was the crystalline, prismatic bridge that ran from the Royal Palace of Valaskjalf at the centre of Asgard to Himinbjorg at the edge of Asgard. It harnessed the dimensional energy of the Bifrost and channelled it into Himinbjorg, allowing us to travel instantaneously within the Nine Realms."
"It sounds wonderful."
"It is." Loki smiles brightly until he saw the mischievous playing on the mortal's lips and quickly divert his attention's back to his reading. "Not that you should mind off."
Evelynn hums, nodding her head, imagine the scenery as much as she can. "Must be a wonderful place to grow in. I was raised here. Not my birthplace but I grew up here."
With the topic emerged, she managed to grabs the god's interest as he once again put down his book.
"I didn't know Stark have a daughter."
"Neither was he."
Loki raises his eyebrows, encouraging her to go on.
"I was raised by my mother just a bit far from here. I live my whole life with her. Just the two of us." The young brunette props up her knees and hug them.
"Was?"
"She's gone. Passed away a week ago." Evelynn bluntly answers his question making his expression turned sombre.
"My condolence. That was rude of me to asks."
"Thank you. Been hard for me to believe that she's gone." She glances away, staring out the window, eyes looking in longingly. "When I wasn't greeted by her smile in the morning ever since, does remind me that she no longer with me."
Loki stares at her in silence, thinking how painful must it be to lose someone you always hold on to. He can't imagine if he lost Frigga. How much pain will it be for him? "She sounds like a wonderful woman."
Eve smiles, looking back at the god. "She was. Always been. She can't cook thought— we Dyne never get along with the kitchen." She chuckles at the last sentences remembering how much she and her mother will tease each other about it.
It was silent between them as they stare into each other's eyes, but their thoughts longing for their beloved.
"You don't seem to be liking your father." Loki breaks eye contact, mussing with interest.
"He isn't my father." She sighs bitterly. "And to answer your question, I'm don't hate him, I'm just—"
The god mischief notices her hands start shaking and tears welling her eyes.
"I'm afraid." Eve shakily breaths out, voice trembling as a lump forming in her throat. "They are coming Loki. They will come here and—and—"
"Who's coming?" Loki scrunches his eyebrows, leaning forward to grasp her hands, not looking away from the watering eyes.
"It's—" but she was cut off by loud footsteps approaching the room and the door slams open revealing Tony who expression turns to anger after his eyes fall on their hands.
"Get away from my daughter, reindeer game." He points his finger at the god who quickly retracts his hands, raising them to shows that he poses no harm.
Evelynn wipes the tears in her eyes with the sleeve of her hoodies. "Don't be dramatic Stark."
The billionaire finally notices her puffy eyes grew angrier. "Did he make you cry?!" He marches towards Loki who stood up, palms still facing Tony. "Did you?! I swear if you—"
"Enough!" Eve quickly on her feet, trying to pry her father of Loki. "He didn't do anything!"
"He makes you cry!" Tony unconsciously shouting at his daughter in her face which anger the young girl.
"He did nothing of those!" She shouts back.
"Then why are you crying!"
"Not HIM!"
"Then why?!"
Before she can hold back her words, face reddens out of rage and mind clouded by millions thought. She spats bitterly. "It was you! All because of YOU!"
Tony's jaw clench, face beef red mirroring his daughter. He glances at Loki who raising his eyebrows at him and then back to his daughter, releasing the god out of his grasp. "Oh yeah! You know what little missy? Every time I tried to open up with you, you throw the shut up words on me! You have been nothing but I pain in the ass! So why don't you speak the hell up for the fuck sake!!"
A few gasps can be heard making him spun around and see most of the members have gathered, probably out of curiosity from all the commotion.
Pepper look at Tony with her eyes scolding him in disbelief.
Evelynn bites her lower lip until a metallic taste hit her tongue. "You—You was the one who fuck up." She spats bitterly, eyes finally look up that send shivers to everyone who watched her.
Even Natasha gape at the coldness flashing from her eyes.
"My mother—she approached you when I was five years old." Shaking her head, wanting to stop but she can't. She knows what she needs to do, and she needs to say it.
"You were drunk that day—She tried to tell you that I'm your daughter. She tries and try and try but you just laugh at her. You and your companions— cackles at her words." Evelynn can't stop the tears falling from her eyes, the painful lump in her throat, that day.
All rage washes away out of Tony's body. Mouth gaping, as if pieces and bits slowly making their way into his mind.
"You—You take out your wallet and throw a bunch of fistfuls of cash at her, us. You called her names! Whores! A bitch hunger for your money! She begged you to trust her but you don't want to hear any of them. I get it if you don't believe but what—" Evelynn poke her pointy finger at his chest hitting the arch reactor radiating from his chest. "Give you the right to humiliate a mother who kneels in front of her daughter watching everything. Do you have no heart?! My mother throw away her pride and begged you to at least take me but you laugh and walk away. I watched everything—" Her voice starts breaking out and tears keep streaming down her cheeks watching everyone's watching in shock. "I was five for the fuck sake! Five! What did we do to you that we deserve those humiliations! Don't answer that—" She stops Tony who opens his mouth to answer. "Nothing. We don't deserve that and you don't deserve me."
"You know what happens next?" Evelynn watches her father shaking his head but she paid no mind, continuing his confession. "She picked up that money, look at me and say 'You must be hungry? Let's go grab some food shall we?'. She smiles at Tony— She holds her tears so that I won't see them but I see everything, I know everything, I understand what happened back then! That's the reason I hate you. No, I loathe you, Stark." She starts breathing heavily, hiccupping.
"I'm sorry—"
"Are you sorry that I remember or are you sorry I was that girl?!"
"I don't remember!" Tony interrupt her words, tears painting his cheeks. His state wasn't far worse than his daughter. "I'm so sorry but I really don't remember that day. I really don't."
"What's the difference? She's gone, my mother won't come back. You should apologize to her, not me. But I guess it was too late now."
Tony plead, falling on his knees. "Eve please, I'm sorry— I-I—"
"Get the hell out of here. GET OUT!"
