Β Β Grief came in waves, small ones. At first they are so strong you feel so swept away and came at such random moments, replacing a feeling of happiness with harsh tears within seconds. It is the ugly aftermath. It is brutal. It is complex. It is forever. Grief changes people. Some are visibly seen. Others are hidden. But no one truly knows what a person is thinking. The mind was a game of if it's own.
Though this grief of hers, this loss, is so huge, so completely incoherent.
Evelyn was a lost and confused soul.
Emotions were a complex for her. It wasn't that she didn't know how to feel, she just didn't have control over them and understand what she was truly feeling.
Her own mind was her worst enemy.
Deep realisation swept through her in sharp waves of pain, a knife stabbing every part of her body. No matter how perfect her plans were, it turned out to be the other way round. A tragedy rather than the fairytale she believed to live in.
But life is unpredictable. It had plans of it's own.
She would forever remember her siblings cries filling her ears, sat besides her as she held on to their hands tightly, consoling them and bottling up her own feelings. They came first. Always, and even when she wanted to, the tears still refused to pour out so she remained strong for them.
And when she was by herself, her cries were muffled against her hand. A silent scream. Because in the end, even when she was surrounded by people, Evelyn would still be alone.
Everyday was the same cycle. She would put on a beautiful smile on her face, making sure her family were happy by the end of their day and slept peacefully, but she barely slept.
The nightmares that haunted her. Her demons.
Ones that were absurd to others. 'They are only nightmares. Stop worrying too much.' Is what they would tell her.
It was the only thing she desperately wanted; to be understood. Instead she understood others more than they did with her.
Sure Jeremy was there for her at times, being a shoulder for her to cry on or listen to her but they both shared one thing in common. They both lost their parents.
No one ever asked Evelyn how she truly felt when she had died because to them she was still here, their reason for why they still had a smile on their face.
They only pitied her and her siblings for being orphans.
She wondered why she was given a second chance at life. What was so worthy about her that death slipped away from her hands and not her parents? But she didn't want to hurt the people she loved who were still around her so she lived for them.
Yet, she wasn't living. She was only existing. In a world she barely recognised.
The guilt was eating her up alive in both ways. Guilty that she survived and her parents didn't. Guilty that if she left then her siblings would be left alone and the thought of it terrified her.
It was an eternal wound that was refusing to let her heal. It was her punishment.
Pain loved Evelyn too much and it refused to let her go.
ββββββββββ
Worry was written all over Klaus' face as he carefully laid an unconscious Evelyn down on her bed. Glancing down at her, he brushed the fallen pieces of her hair away from her face as he caressed her cheeks gently. They were cold. He held her hand and they were too cold. He panicked as he grabbed on to her hands, caging them in between his and rubbing it to keep them warm.
Confusion swept through his mind as he wondered what had just happened just moments ago. The words she whispered just before fainted in his arms.
Help me.
What did she mean by that?
His eyes drifted over down to his wrist where Evelyn had gripped onto tightly, burning him, as he remembered just how much agony it caused him. He'd never felt such immense pain like this before, and now the burn wasn't healing as fast as it should be.
He was pulled out of his thoughts when Stefan ran into Evelyn's room. "What happened?" Stefan asked as he looked over at Evelyn. His eyes then formed into a glare when he looked at Klaus. "What did you to her?!"
"I'd be careful with what you say to me," Klaus warned him in a low tone.
"Why are you in her room then?" Stefan asked. "Did youβ"
"Don't even think that I would lay my hands on her like that." Klaus' jaw clenched.
Before Stefan could accuse Klaus further, a soft voice interrupted their heated argument. "Ow."
Klaus stepped closer to help Evelyn but Stefan beat him to it, helping her sit up and making sure she was sat comfortably. He took a step back, watching as Stefan pulled Evelyn in a hug and whispered soothing words in her ear whilst rubbing her back in a gentle manner.
"Stefan," Evelyn whispered as they pulled away.
"Hey, how are you feeling? What happened?" Stefan cupped her cheeks and Evelyn raised an eyebrow.
"What happened?" She asked instead. Klaus looked at her with confusion written all over his face.
"You were convulsing, love," Klaus spoke up and Evelyn looked up at him.
"What? Likeβ Like having a seizure?" The panic arose in her as she moved closer to Stefan and he immediately wrapped his arms around her.
Klaus nodded. "Has this happened before?"
"I don't know. I can't remember," she whispered, her mind wondering back to her thoughts. What were the blurred images? And the black blood she supposedly seen?
Evelyn looked back at Klaus, her eyes drifting down to his hand and what looked like a burn on his wrist caught her attention. He noticed and shoved his hand in his pocket, making sure his wrist was covered.
Evelyn met his eyes and frowned upon at him. She hurt him.
"Eve?" Stefan repeatedly called her back to him.
"Hmm?" Evelyn moved her gaze away from Klaus.
"Where's your ring?" Stefan asked. "The one John gave you to wear?"
"Oh." Evelyn glanced down at her hands. "I took it off because it was irritating me."
"You're meant to wear it at all times," he scolded.
She gave him a sheepish look. "Sorry."
Stefan sighed and picked up her ring from the nightstand. She took it off him, placing it back on her finger whilst Klaus watched with curiosity.
He felt a pair of eyes on him and found Evelyn peeking over Stefan's shoulder, her eyes fixed on his hand that he was hiding from her. When Evelyn's gaze locked with his, he gave her a small smile and quickly left the room.
"Are you hungry?" Stefan asked.
"Huh?" Evelyn asked then shook her head. "No."
"Thirsty?"
"Nope."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. Stop worrying. I'm fine," she laughed, cupping his cheeks and shook his head gently.
"Okay," Stefan nodded, placing his hands on top of hers.
She laid her head against his shoulder, letting him run his fingers though her hair. "You're too nice to me, Stef."
Stefan chuckled. "I should be saying that to you. You could say I learnt from you."
"Don't flatter me too much," Evelyn laughed.
"I only want to keep you safe, Eve," he whispered.
She wrapped her arms around him tightly. "I know."
A yawn escaped her lips and Stefan gave her a warm smile. "Go back to sleep." She laid down and he placed the cover over her, laughing as Evelyn smiled in her sleep and snuggled further into her pillow.
He remained seated for a while until he was sure enough Evelyn was asleep.
ββββββββββ
Caressing Evelyn's hair one more time, Stefan left the room before giving her a quick glance and quietly shut the door to her bedroom.
The smile faded away when he found Klaus sat down on a stool in the kitchen, drinking a glass of blood and lost in his thoughts.
With a furious look on his face, he sneered to the Hybrid. "Eve may be naive to think you promised to help her but I know you're manipulating her. You want to use her powers for your own benefit and if I find that you hurt her in any wayβ"
Klaus cut him off by gripping his throat and trapping him against the wall with a flash. "What I do with Eve is none of your business," he sneered, eyes flashing amber and the veins under visibly showing.
"What do you want with her?" Stefan refused to let the matter go.
"We made a deal and that doesn't concern you or do I need to remind you who you're talking to," Klaus scowled as he let go of Stefan from his grip and walked away to sit back down.
"She doesn't deserve this. You took her away from her home. Just let her go."
"You are in no position to make demands here." Klaus was losing his patience with him. "I suggest you walk away or I won't hesitate to rip your heart out."
As much as Klaus wanted to kill Stefan, he didn't want to break his promise to Evelyn. She pleaded to him to not kill any of her family especially when he was now slowly gaining her trust.
"Don't you want to protect Eve from me?" He mocked with an arrogant smirk.
Stefan clenched his jaw and walked away, slamming the door shut.
Klaus rolled his eyes and peered over his shoulder, his eyes resting on Evelyn's bedroom and debated if he should check her on.
He came to a decision that he would just leave her alone.
Help me. The words she whispered to him was all he could think about.
ββββββββββ
Hearing a knock on his door in the middle of the night, Klaus opened it up to find Evelyn rubbing at her tired eyes then looked up at him. "Hi," she quietly greeted with her usual bright smile.
"What are you doing here, love?" Klaus asked as she took a step inside his room. "Hey." He quickly gathered her in his arms when she stumbled a little. "You're still weak and you need to be sleeping."
"I couldn't sleep because I wanted to see you," Evelyn said.
"You wanted to see me?" He was shocked.
"Yes," Evelyn nodded and Klaus guided her towards his bed, sitting her down. "Let me see your hand."
"Why?"
"You know why."
"It's nothing," he dismissed it.
"But for me the only thing I could feel was putting you through so much pain. I hurt you, Nik," Evelyn whispered sadly. "That's something."
"I'm fine, love." Klaus knelt down in front of her. "I didn't feel anything."
"Liar. I felt your pain so show me your hand. Please, Nik."
Klaus hesitated and rolled his sleeve up. Evelyn pressed her lips in a thin line to stop the tears from falling as she took his hand in hers. She grimaced at the sight, prints of her fingers had shown she dug through his wrist very harshly.
"It'll take a little longer to heal. It's okay," Klaus reassured her.
"I'm sorry," Evelyn whispered with a shake of her head. "I'm so sorry. I can't believe I did this to you. I hurt you. I'm such an idiot."
"Don't apologise and you're not an idiot," Klaus scolded with a gentle tone as he wiped her tears away.
"Butβ"
"I don't care. You need to stop apologising." He gave her a stern expression as to warn her not to apologise to him anymore.
"Okay," Evelyn sniffled, running her fingers gently on his wrist and Klaus silently watched when her lips quivered and the struggle in her eyes to stop the tears from falling more. She was crying for him.
"My love." Klaus tilted her chin up to meet her eyes.
"I won't," she replied to what he was going to say. "I promise, I won't. You're fine." She reminded herself.
Changing the subject so the guilt wouldn't get to her more than it already was, Klaus pointed to her finger. "So what does your ring do?"
"Ohβ uhβ my dad or uncle. It's complicated." Evelyn let out a dry laugh. "He gave it and said that it was to control my powers supposedly."
"It's beautiful," he whispered and she let him run his finger over the diamond.
"Well, it irritates me sometimes," she pouted and he smiled at her.
Evelyn's eyes darted over to his necklace and Klaus took notice of it. "I like this."
Reaching a hand to rest on the side of his neck, Evelyn glided her fingers across his necklaces and lightly tugged the centre of it, pulling him a little closer with a soft glint in her eyes and he found himself getting lost under her touch. "It's beautiful too."
"Thank you," he whispered in a daze.
Clearing his throat, Klaus spoke up and Evelyn released her hold on his necklace, placing her hands back on her lap. She was tempted to do it again.
"I know you don't trust me but I want you to know that you can tell me anything. I will listen to you."
"Does that mean I can get a piglet now?" Evelyn asked, a cheeky smile on her face.
"Nice try," Klaus chuckled and took a seat besides her.
"It was worth a shot," she shrugged.
"I do mean it, love. You can tell me anything."
She could tell the sincere honesty in the way he spoke to her and she let herself believe that he was telling truth, and he did. "Okay." She slowly nodded.
"So umβ" She gestured to his wrist. "It's healing now and i'm soβ"
"I told you to stop apologising to me."
"Oh okay, sorry." Evelyn quickly threw a hand over her mouth. "I didn't mean to say it, i'm sorry," she cursed herself. "And that was by accident too."
Klaus sighed in defeat as he shook his head, a small smile spreading on his face. "I won't say it." Evelyn pressed her lips in a thin line.
They held each other's gaze when Evelyn burst out into fits of laughter, Klaus soon joining in as he enjoyed the sight he was witnessing. She leaned against his side and he brushed the hair out of her face as she continued to laugh.
"Don't say it," he warned her.
"I won't."
"Wait a minute. Why is your room bigger than mine?" Evelyn took a glance around his room. "That is so greedy of you, Nik," she gasped.
ββββββββββ
Klaus narrowed his eyes, squinting them when Evelyn happily walked out of her room with a wide smile plastered on her face.
"What is she doing?" It was morning. Too early in the morning for Evelyn.
"Good morning, Nik!" Evelyn beamed enthusiastically.
"Good morning," Klaus said warily.
Taking the cup of coffee from his hand, she took a sip of it. "Ew, that's disgusting. There's no sugar in this."
He took the cup back off her. "You're awake."
"Well done, Sherlock," she sassed with an eye roll.
"Funny," Klaus laughed dryly.
"Just like your face," Evelyn smiled innocently.
Klaus took a step forward and she held out a hand to stop him, laughing as she spoke. "It's a joke. Take a chill pill, Nik. Don't go crying in your room."
"I never do that."
"You sure? We can cry together in your room?"' She pouted and he rolled his eyes.
"What are you doing up early? It's 8 in the morning, love."
"I know."
"You consider this as night," Klaus pointed out.
"Oh yeah I do," Evelyn murmured. "Oh well, I guess a change is okay sometimes." Klaus furrowed his brows at her, taken aback at what she had just said.
"I'm concerned for you. First the fruits now you're waking up early. Are you okay?"
"Oh God," Evelyn whispered with wide eyes.
"What?"
"You're right. I don't think i'm okay. Maybe i'm possessed by a spirit who loves to be healthy. Call the priest. We need perform an exorcism on me," she gasped.
Klaus let out a chuckle when Evelyn dramatically leaned her body against his, pretending to faint and he caught her in his arms.
"I'm fine, Nik. I couldn't fall back asleep and it's a sunny day too." She looked up at him, her chin lightly resting against his chest, oblivious to how much the gesture she was giving made him so happy.
"Okay," he nodded and her gaze lingered on him. "What?"
"Nothing. It'sβ" she paused and he raised a brow for her to continue. "Nothing."
His eyesβ She shook off her thoughts.
She grabbed a hold of his hand and rubbed her thumb on his wrist. "I told you it would heal," he said.
Evelyn nodded with a satisfied smile and took a step back away from him, the space between them now feeling cold and he wished he could hold her in his arms for more longer, run his hand affectionately through her hair. The smallest of touches that always had him starving for more.
Baby steps. He reminded himself.
"Want me to order breakfast for you?" Evelyn asked him.
"Actually, let's go out," Klaus suggested. "I think you'll love the cafe down the road."
"Oh, okay. Let me wake up Stefan." She felt a tug on her elbow, facing back to Klaus.
"You know he doesn't wake up this early," he pointed out. He just wanted to spend some time alone with her.
"You're right. Or else he'll be moody if I wake him up," she laughed lightly. "We'll get him breakfast then."
"So it's just me and you then." Evelyn pointed between them.
"Me and you," Klaus nodded.
"You and me. Eve and Nik," she whispered with a nod.
"I know. Eve and Nik." He hid the smirk that was threatening to form on his lips.
There's seriously something wrong with me. I have to be possessed. Evelyn scolded herself.
"Okay," she drawled out. "Let me get my bag."
"Love," Klaus called out.
"Yeah, yeah. I know. I'll fall or bump into the wall." Evelyn waved it off and slowed down, occasionally glancing back at him. "I won't this time."
"She's still going to fall," Klaus muttered under his breath.
Evelyn smiled when she looked back at Klaus whilst trying to find the door handle to the room, almost falling but quickly regained her balance when she finally opened up her door. He watched with amusement, stifling in his laughter. "I didn't fall. I'm okay," she reassured him with a thumbs up.
"It's progress."
"Yay," Evelyn cheered.
ββββββββββ
"Faster, Nik!"
"Come here, love."
Evelyn was speed walking ahead of him when Klaus stopped. She turned to face him and took a few steps towards him. "What happened now? I'm starving."
She quickly moved back when he bent down on one knee and began to tie up her laces. "But I did them correctly," she murmured.
"You could've asked me to do them." He tilted his head up to look at her.
"I didn't want to bother you."
"You won't."
Evelyn blushed, cursing herself for feeling like this and hid the smile that was slowly spreading on her face. It means nothing.
Klaus stood back up and Evelyn thanked him, continuing to walk down the hallway coming to a stop as she took her phone out.
"No we're not taking any of your mirror pictures." Klaus placed his hands on Evelyn's shoulder and directed her towards the elevator when she made a turn towards the mirror.
"It's a mirror selfie. Keep up with the 21st century, grandad," Evelyn mocked him.
"I'm notβ"
She quickly cut him off with a teasing smile. "Young. I know. The wrinkles are getting more visible. Perhaps we should buy you an anti ageing cream."
Klaus faked a laugh. "You must love mocking me, don't you?"
"It's fun," she giggled as she cupped his cheeks and formed his lips into a pout. "Cute."
"How many times do I have to tell you? Don't call me cute or pretty." Klaus glared at her and Evelyn tilted her head up to match his expression.
"Staring contest again. I'm down for it," she challenged him.
"No."
"That's because you know you'll lose. Like always." Evelyn poked his side.
"Hey." He poked her side too and she swatted his hand away, finding it ticklish.
"Don't copy me. Copy puppy," she warned him.
Klaus groaned in annoyance and she laughed, running away from him, and before he could enter the elevator, it closed on him. "Take the stairs, Nikita." She waved at him.
"I told you to stop calling me names!"
"Nicholas!" Evelyn shouted from behind the doors.
Klaus rolled his eyes and took the stairs. He waited for Evelyn at the lobby near the elevator, and as the doors opened, his jaws tightened when he found her speaking to the bellboy.
"We need to go." Klaus placed an around her waist and pulled her out of the elevator.
"Wait, I was speaking to him," Evelyn said.
"We're getting late." He made up an excuse and one glare from him, the bellboy immediately ran away.
"But the cafΓ© just opened, Nik." He tried to think of something else to distract her.
"Your friend from the desk is waving at you." Klaus pointed to the receptionist and Evelyn waved back at the woman.
"Hi!" Evelyn beamed and he sighed in relief.
ββββββββββ
"I'm not going to disappear on you again. It wasn't my fault that I was hungry," Evelyn whined as they strolled down the street.
"I know you won't but keep walking in front of me," Klaus said.
Evelyn glanced over her shoulder, giving him a cheeky smile. "Aww my personal puppyguard."
Klaus sighed, rolling his eyes at her. She's never going to stop.
"Is that Ray?" Evelyn eyes drifted over behind him. Klaus quickly turned around, searching the crowd when he came to a realisation that he fell for Evelyn's antics once again.
Running a hand over his face, he turned back to confront her only to find she was no longer in front of him.
"And she tells me I need a leash," he muttered, biting his inner cheek to calm himself down.
He felt a nudge on his back and Evelyn mischievously smiled up at him. "You fell for it," she laughed. "I don't even know how Ray looks."
"Just keep walking." Klaus placed a hand on the her lower back and gently moved her in front of him.
Evelyn walked backwards to face him. "You really think i'm going to pull a Katherine and play hide and seek with you? But then again I would like to try that. Let's see how long it takes for you to find me. Want to play now?"
"You're not leaving my sight," he scoffed.
"Boring," she let out a huff.
"Bloody hell woman!" Klaus scolded as he gripped on to her hips and moved her away from bumping into someone that she was directly walking into.
Evelyn gave him a sheepish smile, "It was his fault. He was running."
"I'm sure he was running when he was on his bicycle," Klaus remarked sarcastically and her smile fell.
"Urgh." Evelyn groaned, bumping her forehead on his chest.
She grabbed onto his hand and intertwined it with hers. And right now, Klaus wanted to jump with joy.
"No more running or bumping into people. Happy now?" She gestured to their joined hands.
Klaus gave it a squeeze and nodded. "Happy."
He smiled as Evelyn swung their hands back and forth whilst glancing around her surroundings, her eyes brightening at whatever caught her interest.
Progress already. He cheered to himself.
"No. This way." Klaus tugged on her hand back to him when she tried to slip away from him.
"Jeez, you might as well handcuff me to you," she muttered.
Klaus smirked, tilting his head to the side to meet her eyes. "We haven't even hit first base yet, love and you already want to be handcuffed?"
"What do you mean?" Evelyn asked, her eyes widening seconds later when she understood. "Ew. No. I'm going to throw up. Must you have a dirty mind?"
"Well you said you wanted to be handcuffed," he shrugged with a smirk. "I don't mind." She gasped.
"I said might as well." Evelyn stopped in her tracks and processed her words. She smacked on her forehead and cursed herself. "I didn't mean to say it like that."
"Not so innocent are you?" Klaus teased.
"It will never happen. Nothing will." She pointed a finger at him and turned around to walk away.
Klaus looked amused and caught up to her. She refused to look at him. "Stop smiling," she said whilst looking straight ahead of her.
"But you told me to smile more often."
"I don't want to see it anymore."
Tugging her closer to him, he placed his hand on her hip and gave it a rub as he leaned down to her ear, whispering seductively. "So handcuffs it is, what else are you into?"
Evelyn gasped. "I'm definitely running away." She let go of his hand and took a turn into the corner of the street.
"Get back here!" Klaus ran after her.
ββββββββββ
"I won't do it again, Nik. I've learnt my lesson. You can put me down," Evelyn giggled when Klaus had carried her all the way to the restaurant. Her head was resting against his shoulder and his arms were securely wrapped around her stomach as she wiggled her legs in the air.
"I'll pinch your nipples again." Evelyn moved in his hold and he quickly set her down.
"Don't you dare," Klaus warned her when she moved towards him.
Evelyn laughed as they stepped inside the cafΓ© and headed towards their table. Klaus pulled the chair back for Evelyn to sit first. "Oh wow, the big bad wolf is such a gentleman," she teased.
He began to pull back on the chair and she gripped on to the table. "I meant to say thank you!" She squealed and he pushed the chair forward.
Klaus sat opposite her and Evelyn looked at him with amusement. "I know you want to laugh," she said. He refused to and opened up the menu, reading it. "Come on." Evelyn nudged her foot with his under the table and Klaus moved it away, ignoring her.
Evelyn snatched the menu away from him. He gave her a blank expression and she pouted, a laugh escaping her lips. He rolled his eyes as his dimples slightly showed up.
"You're smiling," Evelyn cheered.
"I'm not."
"Totally," Evelyn humoured. "Okay. My favourite time of the day. Food."
"There's no need for you to look a the menu. You're obviously getting ice cream as always." Klaus stated.
Evelyn looked offended. "Why would you assume that I would want ice cream for breakfast? What if I want to have avocado on toast."
"You hate avocados. You even said whoever eats it has no taste in anything."
"I didn't realise you knew what I liked and disliked," she murmured to herself.
"Believe me, love. I know your eating habits."
"If you're so much of an expert then me," Evelyn decided to test him.
"You have an obsession with ice cream, not the fruity flavours. Your favourite drink is lemonade, specifically strawberry. You don't have breakfast but when you do, it's usually pancakes or waffles and tons of maple syrup on it or nutella on toast. You hate porridge because it looks like vomit and hate vegetables tooβ" Klaus listed.
Evelyn looked baffled, her lips slightly apart as he continued to speak.
"You once mentioned your love for Chinese and Japanese cuisine because you grew up having it a lot at your best friend's house and can never get tired of eating it. You like anything that has cheese on itβ"
"You can stop now," Evelyn interrupted. Klaus smiled behind the menu he was reading, feeling proud of himself.
"I never even wanted to have ice cream for breakfast anyways," she said
"I'm sure you didn't," Klaus muttered and Evelyn rolled her eyes.
He called the waitress over to their table to take their order. In the meantime, Evelyn took a glance around her surroundings. With a sigh, she leaned her elbows on the table and rested her cheeks in between her hands.
She gazed at Klaus who was ordering for them and let her eyes travel over his features, lingering on his lips for a second. They look so soft.
What in the fruity flavour did I just say?! When she realised, her eyes widening in shock.
I'm going to get caught. She opened up the menu and placed it front of her face, slightly peeking up to look at him and still speaking to the waitress.
I wonder what lip balm he uses because they look way too soft. Evelyn shook her head. Stop looking at his lips!
You're going to say it, Eve. Don't ask him. She warned herself. Keep that mouth shut.
"Lip balm," Evelyn blurted out and squinted her eyes shut. It's confirmed. I'm definitely possessed. Did anyone call the priest yet? This is an emergency!
Klaus raised an eyebrow, confused. "What about it, love?"
Evelyn cleared her throat and straightened her self up, pretending to look inside her bag. "Oh no. I forgot to bring my lip balm. It's good to keep your lips healthy you know. Keep it hydrated."
Klaus nodded his head slowly and gave her a look.
Evelyn nervously laughed and changed the subject immediately. "So I've been meaning to ask you something."
Please don't ask me about my wolf. Klaus continuously repeated in his mind.
She stood up from her seat and sat next to him in the booth. Moving closer to him, she spoke in a hushed tone. "Can wolves communicate with each other? What's the language? Barking or howling or is it both? Oh wait, is it growling?"
Klaus leaned his head back and pinched the bridge of his nose. Why is she like this?
"Tell me," Evelyn urged and removed his hand away from his face. "I'm curious." She tilted his chin to face her.
"None," Klaus sighed.
"Okay." Evelyn nodded. "I have another question. Whatβ"
"Shh." Klaus placed his finger against her lips.
"Butβ" she mumbled.
"Your lemonade is here," he announced.
"Yes!" Evelyn's eyes lit up and moved back to her seat. He sighed in relief when she no longer asked him questions about his wolf.
"Since you don't want me to ask you questions about your wolf. I'll ask later." Evelyn took a sip of her drink.
Why can't she just let it go? Klaus groaned.
"Let me think about it." He pretended to think. "How about never?"
"I'm fascinated with you," Evelyn said and Klaus raised a brow, forcing himself to not blush at what she just said.
"Oh God. No. Not in that way. Don't get too excited." She wrinkled her nose at him.
"I wasn't," he scoffed. I was.
"Take your paws off my pancakes." She slapped his hand away when he reached out to take a bite. "Just because I shared my food with you once doesn't mean it'll happen again."
"I only wanted a taste," he muttered.
"Should've ordered a plate instead of this green thing." She waved her fork towards his plate.
"It doesn't hurt to have a try." Klaus pushed his plate towards her.
"Never." She moved it back to him and they ate their breakfast with Klaus listening to Evelyn's usual ramblings.
"I miss Bert," Evelyn randomly said.
Klaus pressed his lips in a thin line to stop himself from clenching his jaw. "I don't."
She ignored him. "Can we meet him tomorrow?"
"No."
"I'll take that as a yes."
"What part of no don't you understand?"
"Uhβ" Evelyn squinted her eyes, pretending to think. "The no." She gave him a playful smile.
"Then get used to it," he said.
"I wonder what he's doing," she murmured.
"It's only been a day, love."
"Since we kidnapped him and you busted his lips and bashed his head. We should be checking up on him," she reminded him.
"He should be grateful I was being nice to him."
"He said I was the nice one." Evelyn pointed to herself.
"I could've gladly took my time to torture him and maybe killed him, actually definitely kill him. That's me being nice for letting him go," he shrugged with an innocent smile.
"I'm just going to ignore what you said." Evelyn shook her head.
"And I'm regretting for sparing him because you just can't seem to stop talking about him," he muttered under his breath.
"By the way did you pay for the damages you done to his house?" She asked.
"You did not only just make me pay for the damages. I payed for his next months rent and groceries," Klaus rolled his eyes.
"It's the least we could. Poor guy's more traumatised after you hurt his feelings by telling him he deserved to have his heart broken because of his name."
"I was only stating the truth. His parents must have not loved him as much to name him Bert," Klaus spoke with arrogance.
Evelyn looked so done with him.
"He's good looking at least."
Klaus' hand tightened around his glass. I'm going to kill him now.
"Why are you so annoyed?" She asked when he was sulking. "Bert didn't deserve what you did to him."
"You made me pay for his groceries. His groceries?!" He exclaimed.
"Nik, you're technically a gazillionaire. Stop whining. Speaking of money, I was wondering how you have that much. Are you part of the mafia?"
"This woman." He rubbed at his temple.

"This is heaven!" Evelyn sighed in content when they entered a bookstore which she couldn't stop bugging Klaus about.
"Sorry," she whispered to the bookstore owner who was glaring at her to be quiet.
The owner's eyes drifted to Klaus who was glaring back at her, daring her to say something to Evelyn but she cowered away immediately.
Evelyn quietly squealed, running a hand over the books on the shelf and stopped in front of one, delicately taking it out and flicking through the pages as gentle as she could.
Klaus focused on the way her eyes lit up at the excitement of reading a book. Another thing about her he had noticed.
"I don't know which one I want to buy," Evelyn murmured as she continued searching for a book.
Klaus simply followed everywhere she went. If she wanted to buy all of the books he would make sure she got them all. Even the entire bookstore if she asked.
Moments later passed by and Evelyn huffed in annoyance as she pushed Klaus away from her. "Don't you dare spoil this one for me. You're lucky i'm even talking to you." He chuckled as she turned her attention back to the book.
"Nik," Evelyn whined when his hand trailed down to her side and tickled her. She bumped her hip with his to push him back.
He smirked and stood behind her, peeking over her shoulder to see what book she was holding. "Oh that oneβ" he murmured and she took a deep breath.
"Stop," she protested as she whirled around and poked a finger on his chest. "Or else i'll throw this book on you but I really don't want to. It's too precious to be thrown at you. You know what i'll use my taser on you this time. I've been meaning to test it."
"Is that so?"
Klaus took a step forward and Evelyn took a step back. He took another and she took another one back.
"Yes. No. Maybe so."
Her back collided with the shelf as his body inched closer towards her and she peeked through her lashes, clutching the book to her chest. Klaus smirked, keeping his eyes fixated with hers when her lips were slightly parted.
Are we having a staring contest? Should've told me if we were. I'm not prepared yet!
Evelyn tightened her hold around the book, watching as one of Klaus' hand rested besides her head and his face levelled with hers, making it difficult for Evelyn to move away. Their eyes met, each of them seeming to dare the other to pull away from the warmth they were radiating by how close their body were against each other.
Oh God. I think i've got the heebie jeebies again.
Evelyn raised a brow in confusion when she felt Klaus move back and pulled a book out of the shelf beside her, opening it up and reading it as a smug smile curved on his lips when he noticed her cheeks tinting furiously.
"You okay, love?" Klaus decided to tease her.
"I'm great," Evelyn cleared her throat.
"Are you sure? You look a little flustered."
Her eyes widened as she walked past him. "No I don't!"
She yelped when he placed his hands on her waist and swiftly turned her around to him. He held her eyes with his own, placing his palm on her cheek. "They're definitely warm," he continued his antics.
"I can't help that i'm hot," she sassed. Where is all this confidence coming from?
"That you are," he whispered as he gave her hips a squeeze and rested his hands against her back, with the other lightly caressing her jaw with his thumb.
Evelyn gasped as she glanced down at their position, his hands were resting on her waist and faces inches apart.
Why is my stomach fluttering? I just ate an hour ago.
"Sorry to break up your moment but please don't have a make out session in here." A voice broke them out of their bubble.
Evelyn removed herself away from Klaus' arms and turned around to find the bookstore owner looking at them with a look of boredom and disgust.
"We'll try not to. She's just so hard to resist." Klaus shrugged, wrapping his arm around Evelyn and gave her a quick glance, winking.
She gasped, slapping him on his chest and removed herself away from his embrace. "We weren't doing anything inappropriate."
"She's a shy one. Embarrassed to show her affections to me in front of others," Klaus had an impish look on him.
"I don't even like you at all," Evelyn snapped.
"Of course you don't. You love me." He tugged her closer back to him.
Evelyn discreetly elbowed him in the stomach. Klaus groaned but forced a smile on his face. "Lover's quarrel," he told the woman.
"We're not lovers," Evelyn quickly said.
"Don't worry, my love. I will give your daily dose of kisses when we're alone," Klaus teased and Evelyn forced herself to not blush.
The woman looked between them as they bickered with each other. Rolling her eyes, she shook her head and walked away.
"You're so flirtatious." Evelyn remarked.
"Only to you, my beautiful girl."
"Urgh!" Evelyn strode past him.
"So about that make out session?" Klaus began.
"In your dreams," Evelyn retorted back.
"Can we turn it into a reality then?"
ββββββββββ
"Why didn't you wake me up?" Stefan asked Evelyn on the phone.
She glanced down at the flowers outside the florist she stood in front of, running her hand over them then quickly looked across the street to see Klaus paying for all of the books she wanted. Much to her protest that she would pay for it herself but he refused to let her.
"I didn't want to ruin your sleep, Stefano. You looked so peaceful and it looks like you haven't slept well for days."
"When are you going to come back? I don't trust Klaus to be around you alone," he said.
"He's not going to hurt me. You need to stop worrying about that," Evelyn reassured him.
"You don't know that!" Stefan exclaimed.
"Relax. I'm fine," she spoke softly.
She heard Stefan groan and laughed. "What do you want for breakfast? We'll get it for you."
"I'll order room service," Stefan murmured. "Just be quick."
"Okay. Love you." They said their goodbyes.
Opening up her bag to place her phone back inside, Evelyn gave a glance back to check if Klaus was out of the shop when a body collided with her, causing her bag to fall on the floor and spill everything out.
She winced when her hand slightly brushed past the woman's and retracted it back, rubbing the back of it. She frowned, staring at her own hand when she heard a voice calling out to her.
"I am so sorry." The soft voice apologised.
"Oh no, it's fine." Evelyn bent down to gather her things and the woman helped her.
"No it's not. I wasn't seeing where I was going. I'm just so clumsy." The woman laughed.
"Don't worry. I'm the exact same," Evelyn smiled.
She then handed Evelyn her bag who thanked her. Lifting her head up to see who she was, Evelyn eyes briefly met hers but the woman quickly stood up and walked away.
She stood up herself to stop her when she felt something dig under her feet, and looked down, picking up what seemed to be a locket.
Evelyn then ran to the direction where the woman had left. "Excuse me, you dropped yourβ" She furrowed her brows when the stranger didn't listen and disappeared into the corner.
Her brunette hair flowing elegantly with every stride she took, was the last thing Evelyn caught a glimpse of.
Glancing down at the necklace that she had been holding, she attempted to open the locket but struggled to do so. "What an odd necklace."
"Eve." Evelyn heard Klaus shouting her name and he ran over to her, feeling relieved. "There you are. Why can't you just do what you're told?"
"I did," Evelyn explained what had happened moments ago.
"She left her necklace." She showed Klaus the piece of jewellery and he eyed it.
"Let's go," he dismissed. There seemed nothing wrong with it.
Evelyn briefly looked over her shoulder once more where the woman had left then back at the necklace in her hand. Eyeing it, she slipped it inside her back pocket.
"So, I have another question for you," Evelyn began.
"The answer is no." Klaus cut her off.
"So you don't want to go on a date with me?"
Klaus stopped and turned to face her. "What did you just say?"
"I was joking. It won't ever happen."
"It was still going to be a no anyways," he scoffed.
"Feelings mutual and now that I have your attention, what is your diet when you're a wolf? Is it the same as dog food?"
He rolled his eyes and she ran after him. "This is serious, Nik!"
"I'm going to lose my mind because of you."
Oh how wrong he was to think having Evelyn as his soulmate would be easy.
ββββββββββ
"Stefan, i'm concerned for you." Evelyn took a seat next to him in the kitchen island.
"What? Why?" Stefan raised a brow.
Evelyn cupped his cheek, caressing under his eyes with her thumb. "You look pale and you look like you haven't ate in days."
"Nik, I don't think we should go out today. I'm worried about Stefan," Evelyn said.
Klaus rolled his eyes at that from the living room where he was sat down on the couch. "He looks completely fine."
"I'm eating right now." Stefan pointed down to his plate.
"I know but i'm talking blood wise. Do you want me to kidnap a bunny for you?" Evelyn asked.
Klaus coughed to hold back in the laughter that was threatening to release. Is she being serious?
"Care to share what you find funny?" Evelyn stood up from her seat when she heard Klaus snicker to himself.
"Woah, Eve. Calm down." Stefan made her sit back down when she was ready to storm towards Klaus and give him a kick on the ass.
"Then why is he laughing? Your health and diet is a serious matter to me," Evelyn huffed.
"Laugh one more time and i'll shove my vervain and wolfsbane in your mouth and also taser you." She pointed to Klaus.
"I'm scared," Klaus sarcastically humoured.
Evelyn ignored him and spoke to Stefan. "Do you want a bunny or not?"
"I don't want it," Stefan politely declined.
"What are you craving for then? A rat? Hamster?"
Stefan buried his face in his hands. "How many ice cream tubs did you give her?" He asked Klaus.
"She had none so far," Klaus said.
"Lemonades?"
"3."
"That explains why she's more hyper than her usual self," Stefan murmured.
"You could've asked me. I'm right here," Evelyn said.
"It's not my fault she threatened to throw a tantrum in public," Klaus remarked.
"I didn't threaten you," Evelyn rebuked. "He's lying, Stefano. I didn't say that."
"I will gladly quote what you told me," Klaus said.
"You're both about to argue again," Stefan interrupted them.
Klaus and Evelyn pressed their lips in a thin line as they looked at each other, daring for the other to say something.
"He was going to start it. Not me," Evelyn whispered to Stefan.
"Okay!" Stefan stood up. "Let's have Stefano and Evie time."
"Ooh yes!" Evelyn beamed happily. "Come on." She held onto Stefan's hand and dragged him out of the kitchen.
Klaus looked at them both, frowning when he heard the door shut as whispers and laughter were heard from the room. Why did they have to go into her bedroom for?
"We need to leave. Now!" He shouted.
Evelyn opened the door to her room, peeking her head out. "But Stefan and I are having some time to ourselves."
"I don't care."
Evelyn shut the door to her room. "He's so annoying," she huffed and a smile crept up on Klaus' face.
ββββββββββ
Klaus felt left out again.
Evelyn and Stefan were laughing at an inside joke which Klaus was desperately curious to know about, but they continued to talk about some of the memories they shared.
"Stefano, remember that timeβ"
"We're here," Klaus once again interrupted them.
He turned to Evelyn, and she groaned. "I have to be your girlfriend again?"
"Yes."
"Wait, what?!" Stefan asked, confused.
"Nik will give me whatever I want if I pretend to be his girlfriend. It makes it easier for him to ask about where Ray is because if i'm by his side it makes him look less intimidating and quick to find answers," Evelyn explained.
Stefan frowned, eyeing Klaus who had already stepped out of the car and was speaking on the phone then looked back at Evelyn.
"But he doesn't even look intimidating. He always looks like he's on his man period or someone took his favourite chew toy away from him," she laughed. "What?"
"Nothing," he said. What is Klaus up to? He wondered.
Evelyn nodded. "We won't be long. I hope so."Β
"Fine."
Evelyn stepped out of the car, running over to where Klaus was. "Come on, boyfriend. Let's get this over and done with so I can break up with you."
"You enjoy being with me," Klaus smugly spoke.
"You have no idea, Nik. I want to spend every second with you. Clinging to you. In fact everyone would die to have a relationship like ours," Evelyn declared sarcastically.
"I would love it if you cling on to me," Klaus smirked.
She muttered under her breath and he caught up to her. She eyed him. "What?"
"Don't make up any stories about how we met."
Evelyn gave him a mischievous smile. "Our epic love story is fascinating. What version shall I tell them now?" She tapped on her chin.
"How about our first date in your apartment? Wait a second, that sounds a lot familiar to when you kidnapped me in Alaric's apartment. What a lovely first date," Evelyn sarcastically said.
Klaus laughed dryly at her teasing. "You think you're funny, don't you?"
"What? I'm just reminiscing the good old days. Kidnapping me? You sure know how to get the girl," she scoffed.Β
"Well, you kicked me, pinched my nose, smacked my head against a wall, threatened to stab me with a butterknife, threw eggs and flour at me and a wooden spoon too. Oh and shot my dick with a crossbow then sprayed vervain on me. I'd say we're even," Klaus shrugged with a bitter smile.
Ouch. That was one thing he lost count on.
"The crossbow and vervain spray were by accident," Evelyn muttered. "The rest was self defence."
"Guys!" Stefan called them from the car. "Can you be quick? You didn't even last 10 minutes without fighting with each other or else i'll go do the job for you both if it'll continue like this."
"Stay in the car!" Klaus and Evelyn raised their voice at him. Stefan quickly sat back down, frowning.
"Shall we?" Klaus opened the door for Evelyn.
"What choice do I have?"
They approached the bar when Evelyn reached her hand out on Klaus' chest to stop him. He raised a brow. "I'll do the talking," she told him.
"No, I will."
"In other words, you'll flash your hybrid eyes, scare the shit out of them, get violent, wreck everything and then they won't say anything," she retorted.
"Love, you know I get a bit temperamental, sometimes. I'll be less violent this time." Klaus gave her the puppy eyes.
"That doesn't work with me," she shook her head. "And that's my thing. Stop using it."
"I'll be kind to them this time. I promise."
"Hello." Klaus and Evelyn turned around, forcing a friendly smile on their faces.
"Hi." Evelyn spoke before Klaus could and tightened her grip around his hand as to warn him not to speak up at all.
"My boyfriend and I are visiting an old friend. He said to meet him up at his favourite bar," Evelyn said, giving Klaus' hand a tug and he nodded.
It was very clear who wore the pants in this relationship.
"What's his name?" The man asked.
"Ray Sutton," Klaus said.
The smile on the man's face faded away and Klaus smirked.
"Oh my God, Nik. Why did you knock him out?!" Evelyn exclaimed when Klaus had used his speed to smack the man's face against the counter.
"Oh no. My hands did that by accident. I only wanted to shake his hand," Klaus shrugged innocently.
Evelyn rubbed at her temple and Klaus chuckled as he toed the unconscious man's body. "What a shame."
ββββββββββ
Stefan approached Evelyn who had been sitting on the hood of the car, waiting for him and Klaus. "Anything?"
Stefan shook his head and she sighed. Unlocking her phone, she began to read the text messages.
Care Bear: Brownie misses Cookie and I miss you.
Bon Bon: Please call me back. I just need to know if you're okay and safe. I love you.
Evelyn smiled sadly at the text she read from Caroline and Bonnie. She nudged Stefan as he looked at her and showed him the message, a pout on her face. Stefan wrapped his arms around her and she cuddled against him, reading Elena's message.
Womb mate: Jer's really mad at you so he ate all of your ice creams. Kenji helped him too.
"I can't really do much about that but the audacity of them," Evelyn gasped and Stefan read the message, laughing at it.
Aunt J: You are in deep trouble.
Evelyn laughed as she continued to read the text messages. A sigh escaped her lips as she rested her head against Stefan's shoulder.
"Hey, look at me." Stefan made Evelyn face him. "I don't like sad Eve."
"I'm not sad. I'm glad to know they're safe," Evelyn whispered. "But I just feel homesick I guess. I mean Jeremy, he's mad at me and I don't want him to be. I really want to call him and everyone else but I don't want them to find us. Stefan this is a mess."
Stefan pulled her into his arms and rubbed her back. "I'm going to find a way to get you home. No matter what," he murmured.
Evelyn moved back to glance around and check if Klaus was back yet then looked at Stefan. "You can't do that. He's going to get so mad."
"You need to go home, Eve. It's not fair on you."
"No. I chose to go with him and now I have to deal with what I've done," Evelyn sighed. "I don't want you to get hurt or even worse killed because of me. We promised to keep each other safe."
Stefan started to speak but frowned when Evelyn coughed for the umpteenth time. She had been coughing since they had left, but would dismiss it every time he or Klaus would ask if she was okay.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Stefan asked.
"Yeah. My throats just a little dry and itchy," Evelyn replied. Stefan brought out a water bottle from the car and passed it to her to drink.
He reached out forward, but the slightest of touch from Evelyn made him hiss in pain. "Oh my God. I'm so sorry, Stefan." She stepped away from him. "Iβ I don't know what happened," she mumbled her apologies to him.
"It's okay," Stefan reassured her. "Come here."
"No," Evelyn shook her head, and wrapped her arms around herself, afraid she might hurt him again. "I'm sorry."
"It was nothing. I'm fine." She slowly moved to him and hesitantly placed her hands in his. "See? There's nothing to worry about."
"What's going on here?" Klaus arrived back when he noticed Stefan comforting Evelyn.
"She's not feeling well," Stefan said and Klaus was now concerned.
Evelyn turned her head slightly and gave him a tiring smile. "I'm fine. Ignore him."
"You don't look fine. We're going back to the hotel now," Klaus said.
Stefan opened the door for Evelyn and she sat down, resting her head back on the seat and tiredly put on her seatbelt.
She smiled when Klaus and Stefan too put on their seatbelts just for her.
As they drove away, Klaus gave Evelyn a look, full of worry and concern and she looked at him, reassuring him that she was fine so he gave her a hesitant nod.
Evelyn's smile faltered as she turned to the window and fiddled with her fingers anxiously, her legs and hands slightly trembling and took a shaky deep breath.
ββββββββββ
She wanted to cry. She wanted to scream. She just wanted to sleep without her nightmares taking control over her for one night. That's all she wanted.
The whispers in her ears were doing no better and it confused it her so much. Some were calming. The others were terrifying.
Breathing in and out, Evelyn pressed a hand against her chest and the other was formed in a fist as she laid it on the counter. Her mind was in a daze as she felt her feet take herself towards the fridge to drink a glass of water. Struggling to even hold the glass in her grasp, she shakily drank it.
Resting her eyes for a moment, she took deep breaths to get rid of the voices in her head. When she was sure enough that they were gone, she felt herself relax.
"I'm starting to think you don't sleep at all." Klaus repeated the same words Evelyn had told him a few nights ago and she shook her head, laughing so he wouldn't notice the struggle she was facing all alone.
"I was thirsty." Evelyn gestured to her glass. "I'm going to sleep now."
She moved away from her spot but he stood in front of her, blocking her path when she moved from right to left. "Nik," she lightly laughed.
She gulped when he backed her against the counter and caged her in between his arms, making her arch her back when he levelled his eyes with hers.
"What's going on with you?" He asked.
She made sure to not make eye contact with him and replied. "Nothing. I'm tired so could you move, please?"
"And so you keep telling me that but you're not." He refused to let her go.
"I'm fine," Evelyn said.
"You're not."
"I said i'm fine!" She snapped. When she realised, she inhaled a deep breath. "That was rude of me. I didn't mean to raise my voice at you."
"Look at me," he demanded.
Evelyn refused to so Klaus placed his finger and thumb under her chin and tilted it up, the slight redness in her eyes and dried up tears stains against her cheek were clearly visible and he frowned.
"Why were you crying? Have I done something to upset you?"
"No, it's not your fault. It's stupid. I'm just being dramatic," Evelyn dismissed it.
"Tell me," Klaus said. "Please," he pleaded with a soft tone.
"Iβ" Evelyn took deep breaths for a moment and he patiently waited for her.
"I can't sleep well and it's frustrating me. They don't go away." Her voice cracked slightly towards the end.
Don't cry, you idiot. She scolded herself. She was being childish over the fact that she couldn't sleep.
"Can I ask you a question?" Evelyn shrugged for him to continue.
"Is that why you keep the lamp on? Are you afraid of the dark?" Klaus asked. Evelyn feeling too embarrassed didn't answer his question as she played with the hem of her shorts.
"It's nothing to be embarrassed about," he softly spoke.
"Sometimes," she quietly replied. "I just want to sleep peacefully for one night. I try to but I can't."
"I have nightmares too," Klaus confessed. "About my father."
Evelyn could sense it was something he didn't wish to talk about further so she let him be.
"He sounds like a bitch," she peered at him through her lashes. "And he needs a kick on the ass." Klaus chuckled at that.
"The universe must really hates us so much for giving us very horrible nightmares," she pouted.
"Wellβ" He opened up the freezer and brought out a tub of ice cream for Evelyn. A smile appeared on her face when he passed her the tub and a spoon. "I hope this makes you feel better."
"I would share with you but I haven't had this all day," she said.
"That's a lie. You would never."
"I wouldn't," she agreed, a laugh following after it.
ββββββββββ
They were watching Twilight and Klaus hated it so much.
Evelyn decided to give him a break from watching Disney with her, but now he regretted agreeing to watch Twilight. He would rather watch animated characters sing.
Evelyn turned to Klaus, hearing him scoff continuously with his eyes locked on the TV screen. "Just say what you want to say," she said.
"This is absurd!" He pointed to the screen. "They bloody sparkle under the sunlight?" Evelyn laughed as he complained.
"I did like the baseball scene although I could swing harder than them," Klaus mused smugly and she rolled her eyes.
"And they could've easily figured Bella was a human by her heartbeat and pulse. Not by the wind rustling past her hair!"
"I see Stefan must've learnt the animal diet from this movie then," he snickered.
"Leave Stefan alone." She threw a pillow at him.
"I can't watch this anymore," he groaned.
"But you have to admit the Cullens are hot," she said. "Who's your favourite?"
"None of them. I'm just glad it's over. I'm never watching this," he murmured.
"We still have 4 more to watch," she said and his eyes widened. "My favourites are the last two. Breaking Dawn 1 and 2."
"I'd rather watch Disney than that," he muttered, sarcastically.
Evelyn smiled, pressing the play button on the remote and settled back on to the couch next to Klaus. The rest of the night shifted into a pleasant silence with Klaus occasionally scoffing at the absurdity and hearing Evelyn giggle at him ever so often.
Klaus realised she was shivering and grabbed a blanket, draping it over her body, which she quietly thanked him for. He was surprised when Evelyn shared the blanket with him sending him a smile that brought him a sense of peace that he could not describe.
And as time slowly passed by, Klaus found Evelyn resting her head against his shoulder, gradually moving closer and snuggling against his side. He slowly wrapped an arm around her to make her comfortable as she fell asleep in his arm.
Deciding to take her back to her room, he glanced down at her when he heard a content sigh escape her lips as she she buried her face against his chest too and an arm placed over his stomach, refusing to let him move. "No," she mumbled, sleepily.
So instead Klaus stayed rooted in his seat as Evelyn smiled in her sleep, finding a sense of safety in his embrace and allowing herself to sleep without fearing her demons would take control.
Klaus looked down to her, caressing her cheek and doing what he had been controlling himself to not do all this time.
His lips brushed against her forehead, lightly, and gently pressed them against her soft skin, letting it linger for a while, as he took in this blissful moment he rarely ever felt.
I have a seperate one shot book for ATY! Check it out if you want to. I'll be posting chapters that haven't happened on here or briefly mentioned ( smut too hehe) And some AU chapters especially for those who ship Eve and Bonnie.
I might give Stefan a sibling next chapter or the one after that and I'm excited to write his and Klaus' reaction to what Eve does.
Have a great day/night.
I love you.
