The path faded as it lead her into the darkness of the woods. From the trees to the insects and birds, she could feel her spirit weave itself into the gloom nature. Pushing past branches and bushes, she paused in the middle, breathing heavily and her eyes scanning around, trying to find a source of light as a way out but all she could sense was the wind whistling and the air almost tangible.
She screamed as figures appeared, circling around her, waiting to harm her. She didn't know who or what they were but they had been constantly appearing in her nightmares.
Darkness. That's all she was surrounded by.
A sound so familiar echoed in the woods. A male. A voice that was filled with dominance and confidence, and seemed to be getting closer and closer.
Defeated, she trembled waiting for them to hurt her like they always did.
But there were muffled cries and she opened her eyes to see that they were all gone.
Gasping, Evelyn whirled around. "Whoβ who is it?" There was no one there, just the sound of small rain drops falling from the damp leaves and into the brown soil which her feet were firmly resting on.
A twig snapped nearby and she turned again only to bump into someone's chest. She shrieked and tried to run, but the person took her arm gently, fingers under her chin and lifting her head up but all she could behold was his dark silhouette.
She moved back, her voice trembling, "Please leave me alone."
"Don't be afraid. I won't harm you," he said softly, extending a hand towards her and she could sense the movement. "I promise."
She relaxed by the tone of his voice and for some odd reason, an unknown emotion course through her body. He made her feel safe.
"Whatβ what do you want from me?" She stammered as his hand held hers and pulled her back in his arms.
She shivered when she felt sparks. Good ones.
"To protect you, my love," he murmured with one hand rubbing the side of her hip and the other resting on her back.
She found herself craving for more of his touch. This was wrong but felt right at the same time.
Realisation struck upon her. It was her mysterious man.
"It's you," she whispered and she could feel him nod despite only seeing his dark silhouette.
"I apologise for scaring you," he told her.
"It's not your fault. The woods. I thought it was," she trailed off.
"Who?" He asked.
"No one." She shook her head, warily looking around as he kept gazing down at her beauty.
"I've finally found you," he whispered to himself. Oh how thrilled he was to finally meet her soon.
He frowned when she flinched slightly as he stroked her cheek, tucking a curl behind her ear. "I won't hurt you." His words were soothing and unconsciously, she leaned further into his warmth.
Bringing a hand up, her fingers lightly trailed against his jaw and further up to cup his cheek as he tilted his head slightly to kiss her palm.
"Just like how I imagined you to be, you're so beautiful," he murmured and heat rush to her cheeks making him smirk.
"What was that?" She looked around when she heard a noise.
"I have to leave," he said.
"Why?" She pouted and her eyes widened when she sounded needy. "I didn't mean that... actually i'm being rude now. I do mean itβ but i'm being desperate. Oh i'm talking too much. I'm sorry."
He chuckled, tilting her chin up. "No need to. I enjoy hearing your voice." He rubbed his thumb against her tinted cheeks.
"Can you at least tell me your name, please." She tugged on his hand as he stared into those eyes that held kindness.
She tensed, slowly shutting her eyes, her chest heaving up and down when she felt him hovering over her. "We will meet soon, my love." He placed a kiss on her cheek, letting it linger for a little longer.
When she opened her eyes, she was met with nothing but the sound of nature singing. "You didn't tell me your name. I even said please!"
ββββββββββ
Evelyn gasped for air, her eyes wild as she glanced around. She was still in her bedroom.
Grabbing her pillow, she buried her face into itΒ and cursed out loudly. "You stupid, annoying man! If you were real mysterious man, I will teach you a lesson on how to not mess with a woman's mind."
Taking a deep breath, Evelyn carried herself out of her bedroom, wrapping a cardigan around her as she made her way to Jeremy's room first.
"Jemmie." She knocked on his door. "Jeremy." She knocked again. "You said we could do a Marvel marathon tonight."
Sighing, she gripped onto the handle and opened it up, startling Jeremy as he quickly shut down his laptop and composed himself whilst abruptly turning to face Evelyn.
"Iβ" Evelyn eyed his actions then back to the laptop then back to him. "Oh? Ew. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to."
"It's okay," Jeremy said and then realised what he said making Evelyn's and his own eyes widen. "Iβ I wasn't doing that."
"You didn't need toβ just make sure to wash your hands," Evelyn blurted out and shut the door, running down the stairs.
"It's not what it looks like!" Jeremy shouted out and ran after her.
"It's totally fine. I'm not judging you," Evelyn quietly laughed with Jeremy following behind her. "We can do the marvel marathon when you're not preoccupied."
"I wasn't doing that," Jeremy groaned out, annoyance laced in his tone.
"What's going on?" Evelyn arrived at the bottom of the steps, her eyes widening and fixated at the person on the other side of the door. "Not this bitch," she muttered.
"Hello Evelyn." Isobel smiled at her and Evelyn rolled her eyes.
"Isobel, not here," Elena interrupted.
"So you're the woman who's dating my husband?" Isobel's eyes moved over to Jenna.
"Well guess what? He's not your man anymore," Evelyn snapped, crossing her arms over her chest as she stood besides Jenna.
"I need to speak to Evelyn and Elena, may I come in?" Isobel asked.
Elena was quick to respond back, "No. No don't invite her in."
"I need to talk to you," Isobel pleaded.
"No!" Elena slammed the door shut, taking a deep breath only to face with Jenna's look of betrayal.
"You knew she was still alive," Jenna whispered in disbelief. "And Ric? John? Did they know?"
"I can explain everything, Jenna." Elena looked at her with a pleading look.
"Eve?" Jenna now looked at Evelyn, tears brimming in her eyes as Evelyn gave her a look of guilt. "You too?" Jenna asked Jeremy who also looked guilty.
"I'm sorry," Was all Evelyn could say. There was no reason to make up an excuse. "I'm so sorry."
"It's not their fault. I made them promise not to tell you. They wanted to," Elena interrupted. "Just let me explain."
"No. Don't even." Jenna had enough and ran up the stairs.
Jeremy pulled Elena back when she tried to follow after Jenna, shaking his head at her as he spoke, "The damage is already done, Elena. Did you think she would take it like it was no big deal?"
Elena glanced over to Evelyn, the two sharing tears but Evelyn looked away, wiping at her eyes and ran upstairs without uttering a word.
Evelyn contemplated for a moment as her eyes drifted to Jenna's bedroom door. She sighed and knocked on it. "Aunt J," she spoke softly.
"I want to be alone Eve," Jenna sniffled.
Evelyn left her blaming herself for making Jenna cry. It was still her fault.
ββββββββββ
The day arrived as Evelyn tapped on her hand whilst staring up at the ceiling and listening to the early morning birds chirp. She finally pushed herself off the bed, changing into her outfit.
Evelyn. The voice whispered again.
She paused, feeling a shiver run down her spine and tensed.
"Stop it," Evelyn gritted to the voice that had constantly been playing with her mind. "This is all just part of your imagination. It has to be," she reminded herself.
Composing herself and taking a few deep breaths, Evelyn made her way downstairs finding Elena, Alaric and Jenna standing near the front door, holding a bag in her hand. "Just let her go." Evelyn broke off the argument and they all turned around.
Jenna gave her a grateful smile and a nod. Evelyn had the urge to run up to her and hug her tightly but knew better to give her space. Jenna had every right to be angry at them.
"Girls, I need you to go to the Lockwood's today and accept the historical's society's check for your mom's foundation," she informed the twins.
"Okay. Aunt J, just please," Elena started but she cut her off.
"I don't have it in me to hear anymore lies from you." Jenna walked out and slammed the door harshly making Evelyn flinch slightly.
"Jenna, please," Elena said then John appeared behind them.
"Let her go. It's better that she's not here what with everything that's going on. But maybe had you been a little bit more honest with her from the beginning," he trailed off but was met with a punch from Alaric's fist which made Evelyn's eyes widen and snicker quietly.
"Sorry girls," Alaric said and left the house.
Evelyn looked up at John, his nose bleeding and shook her head as she tried to stifle in the laughter. "You deserved it to be honest."
Evelyn started to walk away and sighed, grabbing the tissue she offered it to John. "Thank you," he said.
"I still meant what I said," she walked towards the kitchen with Elena trailing behind her.
"Eve, can we talk?" Elena nervously asked while Evelyn was preparing herself breakfast. "How long are you not going to talk to me?"
Evelyn just simply shrugged.
"I'm sorry," Elena pleaded. Evelyn placed the mug on the counter, fidgeting with the end of her top.
Maybe she was being too harsh on her.
"I am so sorry, Eve. I'll do whatever it takes to make it up to you."
"What's done is done, Elena. The truth is out now." She turned her full attention towards Elena. "Just promise me you won't lie to me in the future."
"I promise," Elena nodded.
"Pinky swear?" Evelyn raised her finger towards her.
"Pinky swear," Elena joined it with hers.
"Good." Evelyn nodded back. "Come here." She opened her arms for Elena, and she wasted no time embracing her sister in a hug.
"I love you, Eve," she mumbled against her shoulder.
"I love you too, Lena." Evelyn kissed the side of her head.

Evelyn glanced down at the grimoire which Bonnie placed on her lap. "Why are you giving me your grimoire?"
"We need to start somewhere with your superpower situation," Bonnie quoted with her fingers.
"Don't mock me. I don't know what to call this situation so we're going with that," Evelyn said and Bonnie sent her a cheeky smile.
"Let's try a simple spell to see if you have the ability of a witch then at least we have somewhat of a hint," Bonnie shrugged.
"Okay," Evelyn glanced down at the grimoire. "What about that one?"
"Unless you want to set my bedroom on fire," Bonnie laughed as she flicked through the pages herself.
"Right, let's not do that," Evelyn said.
"This one." Bonnie grabbed a small book and placed it in between them, taking Evelyn's hand she placed her palm just above it. "Say motus."
"Motus," Evelyn repeated after her and they stared down at the book, waiting for it to move. "Hello? Motus."
Nothing happened after an odd moment of silence.
"This is pointless, Bon." Evelyn complained.
"You can't give up that easily," Bonnie said.
"Well I'm close to believing i'm losing my mind," Evelyn said.
Bonnie took Evelyn's hand in hers, observing her palms. "You said you put the fire out with your hands," she murmured.
"I also have a wild imagination," Evelyn noted. "Bonnie, I think it's just all part of my imagination."
"No. Jonas said you were powerful." Bonnie refused to believe her. "Justβ" she glanced around.
"Forgetβ" A pillow was directly thrown at Evelyn's face, making her fall back on the bed. "What was that for?" She looked confused.
Bonnie gave her a sheepish smile. "Sorry. I thought if I threw something then you would react you know use quick reflexes to activate your powers or something?"
Bonnie hovered over her. "Did I hurt you? If I did then you can hit me back."
Evelyn laughed. "No! But it was a good throw."
Bonnie groaned, feeling frustrated with herself for not being able to help Evelyn. She gently laid her head on Evelyn's chest as the brunette wrapped her arm around her, the two laying down in a comfortable silence.
"You being there for me through this is enough for me, Bonnie. We'll find out. Don't blame yourself," Evelyn murmured against her head and pressed a kiss to the top of it.
"Am I interrupting another moment again?" Caroline walked in. "Because we can have lunch later and you two can focus on eating each other out instead."
Evelyn's face went red, burying her face in her hands and Bonnie laughed. "Caroline!" Evelyn shouted.
"Jealous?" Bonnie asked.
"So much," Caroline playfully replied.
Bonnie removed herself away from Evelyn as they both sat up. "I know I said I would stay for lunch but I have to go home," Evelyn said.
Caroline frowned. "But I made lasagna. You love my lasagna."
"Just pack mine. A big piece." Evelyn stood up.
"Okay," Caroline mumbled.
"I love you, my gorgeous girls." Evelyn blew them a kiss and walked out of the room.
ββββββββββ
Evelyn parked her car outside her home as she pressed the phone against her ear. "Hey, Eve."
"You've been ignoring my calls," she said.
"No, hi," Tyler gave a nervous laugh.
"Hi, Tyler. How are you on this fine, sunny day? You must be so busy to return my calls," Evelyn's voice was laced with sarcasm.
Tyler sighed. "I'm sorry."
"Apologise to Caroline. Did you know your werewolf friends hurt her and almost killed her?"
"I didn't know, Eve. I didn't know they were coming after her."
"She's our friend, Tyler." Evelyn paused when she heard noises from the background. "Where are you by the way?"
"I've left town with Jules."
"You did what?!" Evelyn exclaimed and Tyler winced at the tone. "She was going to kill Caroline. Have you lost your mind?! Are you on crack? What is wrong with you?"
"Everything's changed now, Eve. I don't even know who to trust anymore. Jules is the only wolf I know. She's going to help me."
Evelyn took deep breaths to calm herself down. "Did you just suddenly forget about me? I can help you."
"You're human, Eve. I don't want to hurt you."
She rolled her eyes. "I can't believe you're trusting her. This isn't the Tyler I know."
"Well the Eve I knew wouldn't lie to me!" Tyler snapped. Evelyn grimaced at his tone and frowned.
"I'm sorry, Eve. I didn't mean toβ"
"I have to go. Have a great time and if you bother to remember you have family and friends that are here for you just give us a call." Evelyn ended the call and stayed inside her car for a few minutes.
She stepped out of the car, running up the stairs of her front porch as she opened it up and stepped into the living room to find Elena, Stefan, John and Isobel.
Her day just got worse.
"You've got to be shitting me. What the hell is the egg donor doing here?" Evelyn sneered at the older woman.
"Language," Stefan said.
Evelyn eyes snapped towards him, a glare fixed on them and he cowered down immediately, stepping away from her.
"John invited her," Elena accused and pointed to him.
Evelyn turned to John. "Listen uncle John, I may be nice to you but that doesn't mean you have to invite the woman who abandoned us to my home," she scoffed.
"She has some information about Klaus. Please listen to her," John pleaded.
Evelyn's body shivered at the mention of his name. No one knew him or how he looked but she felt something every time his name was mentioned.
"I'm so done with you all it's Kevin." She pinched the bridge of her nose and huffed in frustration. "I give up."
"Eve, just hear her out," John pleaded to his daughter and Evelyn heaved a sigh.
"Well then isn't this nice. A perfect family reunion plus Stefano, the son in law," she remarked sarcastically and stood next to Stefan.
He smiled, nudging her shoulder playfully and she nudged him back.
"Were you able to find Klaus?" Stefan returned his attention back to them.
Elena was pacing around the room annoying Evelyn and she stopped her, placing an arm around her shoulders and letting Elena lean against her.
"No, nobody knows where he is. But there are these rumours that are flying around that a doppelgΓ€nger exists," Isobel spoke.
"Which means any vampire that wants to get in favour with Klaus, will be lining up to capture you." John pointed to Elena.
"I call this crap. I'm not buying any of this," Evelyn voiced out her thoughts and Elena nodded in agreement
"The last time you were here, you didn't give a damn about us. Now all of a sudden we're supposed to believe you wanna help?" Elena said in disbelief.
"Isobel's been helping all along," John said but Evelyn gave him a look that said, 'really.'
"Yeah and I have superpowers," she retorted back with sarcasm.
"Klaus has been obsessed with finding Katherine for centuries and something else," Isobel said. That peeked their interest.
"And what is this something else?" Evelyn asked.
"A few people only know about this and he assigned them to specifically find it." Isobel shrugged. "But all we know is that it means a lot to him."
Evelyn tuned out their talk and thought about what it was. An image flashed in her mind, but she couldn't catch sight of his face only the blue eyes that were mesmerising. Her body shook at the image. Why was she feeling like this all of a sudden?
She was pulled out of her thoughts when Stefan and Elena called her out. "Evelyn!" Elena shouted. "Welcome back."
"What?" Evelyn looked around. "Sorry. I just zoned out. Where did Isobel go?"
"Kicked her out." Elena shrugged and Evelyn nodded.
"Are you okay?" Stefan asked. "You seem frustrated," he stated.
"I'm fine. Isobel showing up here just dampened my mood," Evelyn said.
Meanwhile, outside the Gilbert home, John caught up to Isobel, walking besides her. "There's something you need to know," he told her.
"About what?" Isobel asked.
"Evelyn," John said and Isobel faced him, raising an eyebrow. "I was going through some of the boxes that Grayson left to me and I came across something."
ββββββββββ
"So what's with the surprise visit to the Gilbert house?" Katherine asked, as she poured some wine, handing a glass to Isobel after she returned back from speaking to John about their daughter.
"John told me Ric was dating auntie vanilla. I got jealous." Isobel rolled her eyes.
Katherine sat down besides her and sipped her wine. "So tell me, what you know."
"You were right. I couldn't get anywhere near Klaus, but I found my way to someone in his trusted circle. One of his witches," Isobel told the vampire.
"Klaus and his witches," Katherine scoffed.
"He said that Klaus is willing to grant you your freedom if we deliver the moonstone and the doppelgΓ€nger."
"I can get the moonstone and I also have someone else that could be a huge benefit to me," Katherine mused.
"Is this the other thing he's been desperate to find?" Isobel asked and Katherine nodded.
"Uh huh."
"Who?" Isobel asked. What Katherine didn't know this was all part of an act and Isobel was compelled.
"Your other daughter, sweet Evelyn," she smirked.
"Really? And do her friends know about this?"
"No. It's better they don't know because they'll place extra protection around her and if Klaus doesn't grant my freedom in exchange for Elena and the moonstone, that's where Evelyn comes in and they won't know a thing about that," Katherine explained with a smug smile.
"Are you sure that will work?" Isobel asked.
Katherine laughed. "Trust me Klaus is obsessed with finding Evelyn more than breaking the curse. I was jealous when I saw a painting of her and the way he would talk about her and spend his time drawing her instead of courting me."
"His devotion towards her is beyond imaginable and if he sees a single scratch on his soulmate, he would for sure tear this town apart just for her. He sees her as his Queen," she explained and Isobel nodded, impressed.
Who knew the ruthless Original had a soft spot for a human that he barely knew or met.
"I mean Evelyn is a nice girl but I need my freedom," Katherine said. "I've been running 500 years in heels and I can't afford to ruin another pair for Klaus." She rolled her eyes.
"You know you'd be betraying your Salvatore boys again," Isobel stated, looking at her knowingly.
"I was more than willing to play it their way if I had to, but they're floundering. Their witch has lost her powers, and they've used their only weapon to kill Elijah. If I stick with them, I'm dead. You showing up changes everything," Katherine stated.
ββββββββββ
"Well this is a surprise. My favourite best friend in the whole wide world decided to finally visit me," Damon said as Evelyn entered, smiling as he ran up to her.
"I'm your only best friend," Evelyn pointed out. "Besides I knew you would be lonely so I took pity on you."
"Whatever." He rolled his eyes. "I missed you cupcake." He embraced her in a tight hug, lifting her up slightly and Evelyn laughed, patting him on the back to release her.
"Aww, I would be lying if I said I missed you too," she joked as he pinched her cheeks once she pulled away. "Ouch, this face is a masterpiece Dames. Careful," she scolded and rubbed her cheek.
"So Isobel is back," he began and she looked at him with a tiring look.
"Yeah, yeah, i'm not really bothered about her." Damon followed her into the kitchen as she helped herself looking through the fridge and poured herself a glass of water.
"How have you been? It feels like I haven't seen you forever." Damon too poured himself a glass of bourbon and took a sip of it.
"Oh, i've been doing great," Evelyn shrugged and took a seat on the barstool.
Damon eyed her and she gave him a questioning look. "You look a little different." He observed her.
"Bonnie and I hooked up," Evelyn blurted out, her hand immediately covering her mouth. "I need to control my mouth. Ignore what I said."
Damon spat out his bourbon, his eyes widening as he tried to process what Evelyn just said
"What did you just say?"
"It just happened and then one thing led to another. I will not tell you the rest," she awkwardly laughed.
"I need a few drinks for this," Damon mumbled, still in shock as he poured himself another glass of bourbon.
"It's not that big of a deal," Evelyn said.
Damon stood in front of her, cupping her face in his hands and tilted her head from side to side. "What are you doing?" She mumbled.
"Trying to see where my innocent best friend has gone," he murmured. "She's really gone. Rest in peace, innocent Evelyn."
"Okay. This convo is over. Caroline is still teasing me about it. I don't need another one too," Evelyn said.
"Wait a minute? Am I last person to know about this?" Damon asked and Evelyn nodded.
"And here I thought we were best friends. Don't ever talk to me," Damon exaggerated and Evelyn laughed, making him sit back down when he made to stand up.
"You're so dramatic," she said.
"I'm being dramatic?"
"Shh. Anyways where's your girlfriend," she emphasised the last word, teasing him about Andie.
"Urgh," he groaned. "She's not my girlfriend just aβ"
"Booty call," she finished it for him.
"Is someone jealous? Because you know we can be that, maybe more." He wiggled his brows and her eyes formed into a glare.
"Finish that sentence and I will castrate your balls," she threatened and he raised his hands up in surrender.
"When did you get this feisty?" He chuckled and she rolled her eyes.
"Seriously, Damon I don't like what you're doing with Andie. She's not your personal blood bag, she's a human, treat her with respect," Evelyn scolded him.
"Fine." He rolled his eyes and Evelyn slapped the back of his hand, repeatedly. "Okay, i'm sorry." He moved away from her.
They heard the door open and in came Elena and Stefan. They settled in and sat down in the living room discussing about Klaus.
"Do you really think that Isobel was telling the truth that words going on about the doppelgΓ€nger?" Elena asked.
"What I want to know is what the other thing he's obsessed with," Evelyn spoke up. "It seems to mean a lot to him if he's that desperate searching for it."
"I don't trust a word she says but I think we'd be stupid to ignore the warning," Stefan said and they nodded, agreeing to him.
"You know you should just stay here. It's better for us to keep an eye open on you," Damon said as he laid across the single couch.
"In the house that any vampire can enter. Our house is much safer dumbo," Evelyn rolled her eyes.
"Well then we'll stay there, I don't mind sharing your bedroom." Damon winked and she threw a pillow at his face, he let out a groan and threw it back at her but she caught it in her hands, laughing as she stuck her tongue out.
"Is that the plan, neither of you let me out of your sight again?" Elena interrupted their antics.
"Let me know when you come up with a better one," Damon smirked.
"Fine then one of you two bodyguards is gonna have to come with us to the Lockwood luncheon." Evelyn looked at Damon hoping he would go.
"Sorry cupcake, I have witch stuff to attend to with your best friend with benefits," he teased and she gasped.
"Stefano beat him up before I put him in a headlock," Evelyn said but they heard footsteps approach them.
"Don't get quiet on my account," Katherine spoke.
"Hey Kit Kat," Evelyn waved at her.
"Stop calling me that," Katherine grumbled.
"Okay, Kitty." An innocent smile played on her lips and Katherine rolled her eyes
She turned to Damon. "If you have a plan to combat the impending vampire doom, please do tell," Katherine said but they remained quiet. "Seriously, what is the plan to get us out of this mess, hmm? I delivered you a moonstone, a werewolf, and the dagger to lure and kill Klaus and right now all you have is a moonstone. Or so you tell me."
"No we have it," Damon chimed in.
"Where is it?" She asked.
"Now where's the fun if we told you huh?" Evelyn said.
"I've been honest with you. Time to return the favour," Katherine told them.
"Let me be honest with you, don't mistake the fact that we haven't set you on fire in your sleep for trust," Damon snarled sarcastically.
"Fine, be that way." Katherine walked away from them.
"Toodles Kitty." Evelyn waved.
"Stop calling me that!"
"Never grandma!" She laughed.
"All right, come on we need to leave." She stood up from her seat. "See ya later, Salvawhore."
"Bye Shitbert."
ββββββββββ
Evelyn walked past the guests, greeting them with a smile as soon as she entered the Lockwood mansion. She headed straight for the table, picking the canapΓ©s and trying each of them with a content look.
"Hey, Eve," Suki arrived by her side with a wide smile on her.
Evelyn turned to her and engulfed her in a hug. "Suki! Hi."
"How are you feeling?" Suki asked.
"I'm great and don't you worry. I'm taking my meds and i'm also eating healthy," Evelyn nodded.
Suki raised a brow, an amused smile on her face when she glanced down at the plate filled with sweet treats in Evelyn's hand. "I'm sure you are."
Evelyn glanced down at her plate and gave her a sheepish smile. "It'sβ It's my cheat day. I deserve a little treat."
Everyday was her cheat day.
Suki laughed, shaking her head. "I've been looking around for Jenna and I can't seem to find her," she said.
"She decided not to come and sent me and Elena to pick up our mom's donation," Evelyn explained.
"There you are, Eve," Carol Lockwood approached them, and brought Evelyn into her arms. "It's so good to see you."
"You too," Evelyn smiled.
"I've been looking for you actually. Have you heard from Tyler and do you know where he is? He told me he needed to figure things out and just left."
"I did speak to him today but he didn't tell me where he was. I'm sorry," Evelyn said.
"It's fine," Carol dismissed it with a wave.Β
Evelyn began to speak but that was cut short when they heard a loud noise near the stairs.
"What's going on?" Carol ran out of the room.
"We're going to need you, Dr Amano." A man ran up to them and Suki shared a confused look with Evelyn.
Everyone left the room to see what the commotion was with Evelyn making her way to see what was happening too. Just as she was about to leave the room, a hand flew over her mouth from behind and black dots covered her vision, falling unconscious in her captives arms.
Was she ever going to get a break for one day at least?
ββββββββββ
A groan escaped her lips as Evelyn's eyes fluttered open, blinking a couple of times she found herself in the backseat with Elena. She sat up finding Isobel sat in the passenger seat and someone else driving. "Isobel?" She inquired groggily.
"Oh my God. What are you doing? What the hell have you done to my sister?!" She pressed her finger on Elena's neck, checking her pulse and thankfully she was breathing.
Isobel ignored her until they reached the cemetery. "Ignoring is rude," Evelyn said, earning an eye roll from Isobel.
"Hey, Lena. Wake up," she whispered to her sister, caressing her hair and Elena slowly woke up.
"Eve, where are we?" Evelyn helped Elena sit up.
"Looks like we are at the cemetery," she murmured looking through the window.
"Hey! You better not be burying us alive!" She panicked. "Is this because I called you an egg donor? This is too extreme."
"I'm not going to. Just because you two can't be compelled doesn't mean I can't force you to come with me," Isobel said as they stepped out of the car.
"So is that what happened? You were compelled to betray Katherine?" Elena asked.
"If I was I couldn't tell you." Isobel walked towards a headstone.
"So basically you lied and you did find him. He knows where I am now. Are you taking us to him?" Elena asked. "What is this?" Isobel removed the leaves away from the headstone.
"My parents, your grandparents, they put it here when it became clear that the police weren't going to find my body. They visit every week and they bring flowers even though there's no one buried here. The Isobel they knew is dead. So maybe there's a part of me that's buried here, the human part, the part that I abandoned when I.. when I chose to become a vampire," Isobel smiled sadly.
"The part that used to dream about the day that she'd know her daughters." She glanced over to them.
"Then why did you abandon us in the first place?!" Evelyn raised her voice at the woman, small tears threatening to fall out of her eyes. Elena intertwined her fingers with Evelyn, rubbing the back of it to calm her.
"And instead you both got to meet the other partβ the part that would betray her own flesh and blood," Isobel sighed. "I'm sorry."
"That's not enough," Evelyn sneered.
Isobel's phone rang and she picked it up conversing with the other person on the line. "I have Katherine and the moonstone. Is his soulmate and the doppelgΓ€nger safe?" Maddox, the warlock, spoke.
"Yes." Isobel looked over to the twins. Elena was softly speaking and consoling an upset Evelyn.
"Then let them go."
"Let them go?" That caught their attention.
"Klaus has everything he needs for now. Your part is finished. You did what he compelled you to do."
"I'm done?" She asked, feeling relieved and Maddox replied back then hung up the call.
"Who was that?" Elena pointed towards her phone and Isobel's eyes drifted over to Evelyn.
"You have a big heart, Evelyn. A pure and good one. Keep it that way." Isobel sent Evelyn a warm smile.
"What?" Evelyn furrowed her brows in confusion.
"I'm so sorry girls. That I was such a disappointment to you both." She took off her daylight necklace and screamed in pain, letting her body set on fire.
Evelyn shrieked as she and Elena held on to each other, watching their birth mother dying.

"Have you arrived?"
Klaus turned his head, glancing at the sign which he drove past by. "I'm here."
"Is it done?" Klaus asked the warlock.
"She did her part, the doppelgΓ€nger is safe," Maddox replied back.
Klaus rolled his eyes. "I don't care about the doppelgΓ€nger. Is my soulmate safe?"
"She's safe. Katherine won't be able to use her against you."
"Good," Klaus nodded, satisfied with the answer.
"I have the body here to do the spell, when would you like me to perform it?" Maddox asked.
"Tonight. I want to get this done with as soon as possible."
"There's also something else you need to know."
Klaus frowned at the tone of his voice. "That is?"Β
"The doppelgΓ€nger is her sister. Twins."
Klaus' jaws clenched, pinching the bridge of his nose and scowling in frustration hearing this new piece of information.
This was going to be harder than he expected.

"Hey," Damon said as Evelyn turned her head away from the window and smiled at him. "Heard about what happened to Isobel." He took a seat next to her.
"I didn't cry when I watched herβ does that make me a bad person? I mean I never knew her but still she was my mother." She felt a little overwhelmed and he wrapped his arm around her, pulling her closer to him.
"It's going to be okay," he reassured her.
"I wish," she sighed.
Nothing was ever going to be okay at Mystic Falls.
"Come on, I have a surprise for you and Elena," he offered his hand to her and she placed it in his, helping her stand up.
"I wonder," she beamed with excitement.
"Unfortunately it's not to sleep with me but for you i'll make an exception," he teased and she smacked his chest.
"Is that all you think about?" She asked in disbelief.
"It has been my fantasy to make love to you," he drawled out with a husky voice.
"In your dreams," she rolled her eyes.
"Oh it has been many times." Evelyn playfully shoved him and he laughed as they walked into the living room where Elena and Stefan were talking to each other.
Damon then went on to explain that they were giving the deed of their house to Elena and Evelyn. That way they could control who get's invited and who doesn't until the whole Klaus situation was over.
Evelyn quickly looked at Damon with a cheeky grin on her face. "I will be super pissed if you lock me out," he said.
"Too late." She winked at him.
"What about Stefan?" Damon asked.
"Stefan's already invited."
"Thank you, Eve," Stefan smiled at her, raising his hand up to give her a high five and she did.
Suddenly, they heard movements behind them and John woke up. Damon sped towards him, lifting him up by the collar. "I swear I had no idea what she was going to do. I'm sorry." John turned towards the Evelyn and Elena. "I'm so sorry."
"Damon, let him go. We need to talk to him." Evelyn ran over to them. "Please." Damon eventually let go of him.
Soon, the brothers left leaving them to talk with John. "Go on. Explain yourself," Evelyn said as she sat opposite him.
John then went on to explain how he was shocked to find out Katherine and Isobel were working against him and how his love for Isobel allowed him to put his trust in her.
"At this point, I will do whatever you both want me to do. If you don't feel safe around me then I'll go," he said and the sisters turned to each other, nodding slightly and knowing their answer for him.
"I put my trust in you, yet you end up screwing everything but you're the only parent we have left," Evelyn murmured. "Well besides Jenna." She smiled thinking about her aunt who became a mother figure to her.
"So maybe I could learn not to hate you," Elena finished.
"Okay," he nodded with a smile.
"And if you really want to get in my good books, you should buy me ice cream. Tons of it," Evelyn added.
"Evelyn!" Elena whispered and Evelyn giggled sheepishly, shrugging.

"I'm staying at the campus," Jenna spoke on the phone to Evelyn. "Will you three be fine without me?"
"Yeah. I'll look after them. Take how ever much time and space you need," Evelyn reassured her.
"Okay,"
"Oh Aunt J?" Evelyn stopped her before she could end the call.
"Yeah?"
"I love you," Evelyn spoke softly.
Jenna smiled. "I love you more, Evie."
Evelyn sighed, staring ahead of her as she focused on her thoughts. Shaking them away she shut her locker and strode out of the room waving her instructor a bye as she walked out of the dance studio.
Looking down at her phone she received a text from Jeremy letting her know he would be there to pick her up.
She tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear, the cool breeze hitting against her skin and making her shiver slightly. Feeling her stomach grumble, she decided to get herself a snack at the Grill whilst she waited for Jeremy.
She stopped walking, eyeing the ice cream parlour next to the Grill, then glancing back and forth between the two buildings and bit on her lower lip as she contemplated with herself. "Another one won't hurt," she murmured to herself.
With a giddy smile, Evelyn almost ran to the shop but stood in front of the door when she looked around her, a sudden shiver hitting her but she paid no attention to it and walked inside the shop.
Moments later, she happily walked out of the store with her cone in her hand and the other looking down at her phone, wondering how long Jeremy was going to take.
Looking up and around her once again, she felt irritated with herself wondering what it was that bothering her.
Today was an odd day.
Ready to eat the cool dessert, a body bumped into hers making her drop her ice cream on the floor and she cried out in frustration. "Oh come on. My ice cream!"
Klaus' eyes widened as he stopped speaking on the phone, immediately stopping to a halt when he heard a voice, one that he could never forget.
"Not even a sorry for bumping into me. Are men just full of shit nowadays?" Evelyn grumbled to herself. "Ruined my dessert too."
He slowly turned around, his breath almost taken away from him when he found his beautiful soulmate standing just inches away from him. The one who had invaded his mind for a thousand years.
She was really here?
He was in awestruck staring at her features. She was more beautiful in person.
Her long brunette hair flowing down like a waterfall, as waves of pure earth which brought out her glistening emerald eyes that he would always see in his dreams. They spoke of serenity and kindness. She radiated softness, passion and sweetness.
"Excuse me?" Her voice pulled him back out of his trance when Evelyn stared directly at him. "Come here please," she ordered him.
"Me?" Klaus pointed to himself.
"No, i'm talking to my good friend, the street light," she retorted sarcastically with a sweet smile.
She beckoned him with a curl of her finger and like a spell was casted on him, Klaus found himself walking towards her.
She rested her hands on her hips, tilting her head slightly and a smile curled on his lips at the sight in front of him.
"Youβ" Evelyn began to scold him but couldn't speak when the man was now standing directly in front of her.
Wow! Who made him?
The first thing that caught her attention were those ocean blue eyes that seemed so familiar. They were as deep and expressive, where you could get lost in if you stared long enough and contrasted exceptionally with his light toned face. He had soft sandy blonde hair and lips that were slightly full, the kind that end in a little smirk at the corners and covered in a sharp stubble.
Intimidation. Confidence. Power. Control. Dominance. That was practically radiating off him.
Why are you so gorgeous? Her thoughts spoke and all she wanted was to run a hand through his curly hair. It must be soft.
What the hell are you thinking, Eve? She scolded herself. Your ice cream is on the floor because of this stranger.
Klaus smirked, hearing her heart beating rapidly. "Yes, love." The words made feel Evelyn weird. A good feeling.
The. Accent?!
"Stop that," Evelyn managed to say.
"Stop what?" A deep chuckle escaped from him.
Evelyn didn't even know why she said that as her eyes wandered to his lips, a playful smirk still plastered on them.
She shook her head, focusing on the most pressing matter as she made herself look intimidating. "You pushed me."
"Well you should look where you're going," Klaus retorted back.
"Excuse me? I was looking. You almost fell on top of me too. It's you who needs glasses," Evelyn scowled, poking a finger on his chest and he gave her an amused smile.
"Do you know how rude that is? Not only did you push me but most importantly my ice cream is now on the floor which I was looking very forward to eating after a exhausting day. How would you feel if someone did that to you?"
Klaus was too stunned to speak from her sudden outburst.
She was a firecracker. Had it been someone else speaking to him like that he would've pulled their hearts out of their chest before they could even live to see the next day.
"Huh?" Evelyn tapped on her feet whilst crossing her arms over her chest.
"Iβ I would feel very upset," he managed to answer. Did I just stutter?
"Exactly what i'm feeling right now and it looks like you need a reminder about this thing called an apology," Evelyn stated.
"I'm sorry," Klaus quickly said. "I'm sorry for pushing you and throwing your ice cream on the floor."
Evelyn eyed him, trying to keep a stern look and not gawk at him but the gentle side of her took over. "I'm sorry," she softly spoke.
Klaus looked taken aback. "Why?"
"Because I shouted at you," Evelyn nervously played with her fingers.
She was too nice. A complete opposite of what he was.
"I just had a rough day and that's no excuse to shout at you." Klaus just stood there admiring her as she continued to ramble.
"And my mind is all over the place as well. My biological mother died today actually," she laughed, an awkward one. "Oh man, I don't why I said that."
Klaus pressed his lips in a thin line. Well she was speaking to the man responsible for her death.
"Oh." Was all he could say. But in his defence he didn't know back then Isobel was her biological mother.
"She disappeared from my life after she gave birth to me. Never really knew her," Evelyn continued to make it more awkward.
"Oh," Klaus said again.
"I don't even know why I'm telling a stranger about this," she grimaced at herself. "I need to stop talking and leave. Have a great day. I mean night, Mr."
Klaus hadn't even realised when Evelyn began to walk away from him, mumbling under her breath about how she was looking forward to eat her ice cream until he ruined it for her and how much of a fool she made of herself.
She stood outside near the Grill. "Well done, Eve," she muttered sarcastically.
Minutes passed by as Evelyn waited by the car park near the Grill for Jeremy to arrive when she heard footsteps behind her. The handsome stranger was walking over to her and she wondered why.
"This is for you, love."
A look of surprise was written all over her face when she looked at the two ice cream cones in his hand, handing them over to her. Not only did he buy two but none of them fruity flavours.
"No," Evelyn denied and gave it back to him. "I can't." As much as she wanted to.
"Please. I insist. It's the least I can do."
"You might just be my favourite person," she whispered to herself.
Klaus smiled, feeling like he just won the lottery. Is that all he had to do? Buy her ice cream?Β
He placed them back in her hand and Evelyn gasped quietly when his hand brushed against her. The weird feeling returning back to her.
"Thank you," she trailed off, silently asking for his name.
"Nik," he smiled.
"Nik," Evelyn repeated after him. "Nice name."
A sound of car beeping caught their attention. "Oh my brother's here." Then glanced back to Klaus. "Thank you once again." She gestured to her hands.
"No problem, love," he smiled.
Evelyn returned a shy smile, walking away from him but occasionally glanced back at him. Klaus neither took his eyes off her.
Don't fall, Eve. She reminded herself.
"Bloody hell, she's going to hurt herself," he immediately rushed over to her when Evelyn was walking towards a street light.
"Oops," Evelyn quickly took a step aside before he could move her. "I'm okay," she reassured him with a sheepish smile, feeling her cheeks heat up after embarrassing herself.
"Iβ" Evelyn began but shook her head. Klaus wondered what she was going to say.
It couldn't be.
She ran towards the car and stepped inside as Klaus watched her leave. "You still didn't tell me your name." He realised now. He was too fixed on admiring her that he forgot to ask her.
Evelyn couldn't stop smiling as she took a quick peek on the side view mirror still finding Klaus standing there.
"You look extra happy," Jeremy commented.
"This really hot guy bought me two ice creams and they're not even fruity flavours!" Evelyn gushed with excitement.
"But I couldn't stop talking. I'm such an idiot," she groaned and explained to Jeremy about her encounter with the man.
"Can I have one then?" Jeremy asked.
"What's my answer going to be?" Evelyn asked.
"No." He rolled his eyes. "Not even a little bit?" Evelyn just looked at him. "I will stop asking," he cleared his throat.
Evelyn returned back to her thoughts, smiling as a part of her hoped she would meet Nik again.
I don't like this chapter at all but I gotta make the readers happy and they finally met! Well Eve met Nik.
The next chapter is one of my favs. It's the school dance and rr's if you remember what happened between them i'm keeping it just the same and adding more to it haha.
