Β Β  Love is an emotion that is too powerful to either bring happiness to or break a soul. It is an important aspect of life and also gives a meaning to it. It runs through our veins and keeps our hearts beating, with a promise told that it's marked on us forever. It's beautiful. Fierce. Passionate. It's unforgettable.

Some are pure. Others are toxic. Then there's platonic.

Evelyn was lucky enough to experience the first time she had fallen in love. It was one of the few memories she could clearly remember being happy.

Her first love, Bonnie Bennett.

A love that she would never forget and was brave enough to share with.

What started as a playful first kiss, eventually began to fill with the sweetest of passion, and countless of loving thoughts condensed into a moment. Evelyn felt like she was in heaven when she first kissed Bonnie.

It had also became an eye opener to a colourful spectrum for her.

Evelyn was madly in love with her best friend.

Bonnie was madly in love with her best friend.

It was a love so innocent yet wild.

Every moment spent with Bonnie, Evelyn savoured it and kept it close to her heart, wishing at times she could relive it all over again with her.

Bonnie was her person.

But eventually the passion between them outgrown, the spark that ignited between them was slowly fading out, coming to a mutual yet tearful acceptance that maybe they weren't meant to be eternal lovers in this life.

We're soulmates in another life. Evelyn and Bonnie believed in that, laughing through their tears and sealed it with one last passionate kiss.

That day had also been Evelyn's first heartbreak she experienced, so painful, and many nights spent alone in her bedroom, crying as she wondered what she had done wrong between them.

Bonnie blamed herself for not being able to love Evelyn the way she deserved to be. All she wanted was Evelyn to be happy and so she needed to be the one to let her go.

Evelyn would forever be grateful to have Bonnie in her life, lover or not, she had been one of the most important people in her life to show her the meaning of this pure emotion.

A part of Evelyn would always carry her love for Bonnie but the reality she eventually accepted was that she couldn't fill that empty feeling that was desperately aching to be healed.

Then Tyler Lockwood arrived, the boy who secretly had a crush on her.

Evelyn reluctantly gave herself a second chance, convincing herself that maybe he could be the one for her.

He was so sweet to her, a side he didn't show often but with Evelyn he was able to be himself, many laughters and comforts spent with him was another moment Evelyn would cherish in her heart.

But Tyler had fell in love with the image of the golden girl she was perceived as in everyone's eyes. He loved how compassionate she was. The way she held respect for herself. How she would listen attentively to all of his problems and support every decision he made. She was perfect in his eyes.

It was all a lie.

Tyler never really knew the true her.

He didn't know how to comfort the girl just like how she did with him especially when she found about what his father did to him, the couple crying and holding on to each other, a sense of safety for Tyler, a reassurance that told him Evelyn would protect him.

But Tyler didn't know how to love Evelyn the way she wanted to be.

And the harsh truth was their relationship was slowly tearing apart the moment after the accident happened. Yet neither seemed to let each other go.

Evelyn was too afraid to damage him and Tyler still believed that the girl he was in love with would return back to him soon.

Eventually, they both realised that it was unhealthy, and so Evelyn had been the courageous one to let them go first. Deep down Tyler knew she did the right thing but he still clung on to that little faith. It was too late though.

Tyler lost his girlfriend the night her parents left her, and a part of her left too.

Evelyn would forever appreciate what Bonnie and Tyler gave her but neither gave her what she truly wanted but refused to say it out loud or even admit it.

Risk. Trouble. Chaos.

She craved for it badly.

But she had accepted that maybe love was not suited for her.

And she was okay with it. She told herself that she would learn how to live without it and continue to cherish the moments of seeing the people she loved falling in love with others.

After all who could love a girl who barely recognised and hated herself?

Dancing was another way for Evelyn to speak, to let her body express her emotions.

It was her heaven on Earth, moments of bliss that lifted her up and showed her that she was more than a match for gravity. It was how her soul and heart grew, how they were nurtured with a free sense of joy. It was to work out her grief and sadness out of her body, to heal the pain. The movement of her body narrated a deep and moving tale straight to the heart.

It was her language.

The studio was quiet. A comfortable one after Evelyn had bid her little students a goodbye from an afternoon of hard work and enjoyment.

Walking over to the barre that was standing opposite the line of mirrors pinned against the wall. She firmly rested her hands on the barre, setting her feet in position.

When the thrumming rhythm of classical music whispered into her ears, she began to dance, flowing into graceful arcs with her limbs in continuous motion. Like a butterfly, fluttering it's wing in the air, she gracefully threw her arms out, waving them from side to side, perfectly in tune with the beat before jumping into the air and twirled without effort, so elegantly, the flashing colours of the lights briefly blinding her as she finally set foot to the ground again and skidded to a halt.

A breathless laugh escaped her lips, an achievement she felt today. She was happy, but there was still more to reach what she truly wanted but could never have.

Finishing the day with stretches and warming up, Evelyn swiftly removed her pointe shoes off her feet and placed them in her bag as she hummed to herself, a blur of motion arose goosebumps on her skin causing her to stop what she was doing. She eyed the mirror that was facing opposite her but it was nothing.

But there was someone in the room with her.

Shaking it off, she zipped up her bag then, it happened again. Evelyn turned around, taking a look around her surroundings and decided to take a step forward. "Hello?" She called out to the possible intruder that had been now fixated on her paranoid mind.

Step after step, being aware of her surroundings, she heard a sound coming just down the entrance and quickened her pace, her hands tightly clutching onto her bag that was resting on her shoulder. She reached out inside of it, bringing out whatever could protect her. Looking back straight ahead of her, a scream suddenly left her mouth when the intruder stood close to her.

"Caroline?!" Evelyn groaned and the blonde vampire held on on to her stomach, bursting out into fits of laughter.

"You should've seen the look on your face," Caroline pointed at Evelyn who dug a deep sharp glare at her.

"I nearly had a heart attack. Don't ever do that again," Evelyn frowned and Caroline brought her into a warm embrace.

"I'm sorry, but I had to do it," Caroline laughed and Evelyn wrapped her own arms around her, calming her rapid heartbeat down.

"Why are you here?" She asked when they pulled away.

"Jenna asked me to pick you up because she had to leave for work last minute. Besides you and I need to catchup," Caroline finished with a beaming smile.

"Let me guess, Jeremy told you about Tyler," Evelyn stated and Caroline gave her a nod.

"Why are you all making a big deal out of it?" She grumbled in annoyance, running a hand through her hair.

"Because it is." Caroline hooked her arms around Evelyn's, walking out of the studio. "I want to know the gossip so spill to your best friend."

"Fine," Evelyn sighed.

She quickly glanced over her shoulder then walked out with Caroline, the uneasy feeling still refusing to leave her which she couldn't understand.

━━━━━━━━━━

Scrolling through her phone, Evelyn hadn't realised when Bonnie walked into her room, climbing into the bed and laid down besides her, wrapping an arm around her waist and placed her cheek against hers. "Hi," Evelyn smiled.

"Hey," Bonnie pressed a kiss on her cheek.

"Jeremy told you," Evelyn murmured as she turned around to face Bonnie.

Bonnie settled her head on the pillow next to Evelyn's. "Elena did."

Evelyn groaned into her pillow, cursing her siblings for making a gossip about what happened between her and Tyler. "I didn't mean to hurt him," she mumbled.

"He tried to kiss you," Bonnie pointed out.

"Yeah," she sighed and looked back at Bonnie. "I- I just couldn't return the feelings back. I tried to and I really shouldn't be talking to my first ex about this," she laughed.

"It's fine. I did promise that i'll always be here for you. What's really going on, Eve?" Bonnie tucked a strand of Evelyn's hair behind her ear.

"I don't know," she whispered. "I feel lost?" She rather questioned herself. "I'm not sure what's going on. I'm just a mess. Always have been."

"You'll find your way again," Bonnie reassured her.

"That'll take a long time," Evelyn sighed.

Bonnie gave her a sympathetic smile and Evelyn noticed.

"What?" Bonnie asked when she caught Evelyn gazing at her.

"Have I told you how beautiful you are?" Evelyn smiled, a playful one.

"Are you flirting with me?" Bonnie teased.

"Is it working like it used to?" She raised a brow.

"Well I haven't had my daily dose of compliments from you lately," Bonnie smiled.

Evelyn shifted closer, lightly bumping her forehead with hers and finally rested it against hers, both laughing.

"Bon Bon?"

"Hm?"

"Will you– uh stay with me until I fall asleep?" Evelyn nervously asked.

It had been a long time since she slept in Bonnie's arms and she missed it. A lot.

"You don't ever need to ask me, Eve," Bonnie opened her arms wide for Evelyn and she smiled widely, resting her head on Bonnie's chest as she snuggled further in her warm embrace.

"I love you," Bonnie murmured against her temple.

"I love you too," Evelyn whispered back.

━━━━━━━━━━

Twisting and turning in her sleep, Evelyn jolted awake when she heard a noise outside her room.
Rubbing away the remainders of her sleep, she sat up, glancing down to her side. Bonnie must have left a while ago.

She started to walk towards the door of her bedroom and peered around the corner to see an empty hall way.

She stepped out, carefully looking around when she was caught surprised and screamed out loud, "There's a naked man in the house!" She took off one of her slipper and struck it towards her intruder. "Get out!"

A half naked Alaric was standing at the top of the stairs with a bowl in his hands, flinching when Evelyn's slipper hit his face. "It's me, Eve!" He shrieked then covered it up with a cough.

"Oh my God, Ric? I'm so sorry. Why is everyone giving me a heart attack today?!" Evelyn groaned, covering her eyes away from Alaric, who covered the front of his boxers with the bowl.

"Anyone want to explain why my history teacher is naked?" She asked.

Jenna suddenly arrived behind him with a horrified look on her face. "Oh shit. That was us. I'm sorry."

"We didn't think anyone else was up," Alaric told Evelyn.

"But here you are," Jenna's voice was full of awkwardness. "And here we are."

Alaric stared down at Jenna for a couple of seconds before looking back up at Evelyn's who eyes were fixed on her feet, avoiding her gaze from him. "We were just," he stopped himself. "Chunky Monkey?" He offered the bowl towards her.

"First of all it's banana flavour so it would definitely be no. And secondly, i'm not really hungry. At all," she chuckled nervously. "But i'm pretty sure i'm scarred for life," she muttered under her breath.

"Well, I'm naked," Alaric nodded awkwardly. "So I'm gonna go." He scurried away into the bedroom leaving Jenna behind.

"I'm really, really sorry," Jenna told her, scratching the back of her neck in embarrassment.

"It's okay," Evelyn breathed out, a small smile appearing on her lips. "Don't worry about it. But look at you huh?" She gestured towards Jenna who was only wearing Alaric's shirt. "Getting some action lately." She wiggled her brows and Jenna blushed.

"I know he's been staying over a lot. Are you sure it's okay?" Jenna asked.

"Seems like things are great," Evelyn pointed out.

"Definitely," Jenna smiled.

"I'm so happy for you." Evelyn beamed. "But I have to tell Elena and Jeremy about this."

"Why?" Jenna groaned.

"This is just too good to keep to myself," Evelyn giggled and walked back into her bedroom.

"Enjoy your cuddles," Evelyn teased, emphasising on the 'cuddles' and Jenna furiously blushed when she heard her niece and quickly ran back into her bedroom.

Evelyn glanced around her room, sensing an odd feeling settling her stomach. Shrugging it off, she slipped back in bed, forcing herself to fall back asleep.

━━━━━━━━━━

The following morning, Evelyn and Jeremy were sat near the kitchen island while Elena made them breakfast, snickering and laughing amongst each other as Evelyn told her siblings about her encounter with Alaric and Jenna last night.

Alaric caught their attention when he walked past them and Jeremy spoke up. "Hey Ric, would you like some Chunky Monkey?" He smirked, gesturing to his bowl.

Evelyn and Elena's mouth hung open then laughed out loud when witnessing Alaric's cheeks tinting. Too embarrassed, he immediately left the house.

Jenna arrived, shaking her head when she watched her nieces and nephew teasing Alaric. "I hate you." She pointed to Evelyn.

"You love me," Evelyn giggled and blew her a kiss in return.

And for the rest of the morning, the Gilbert's enjoyed their time in each other's company.

━━━━━━━━━━

After Jenna and Jeremy left, the twins remained at home when Elena answered a knock on the door and found the Salvatore brothers on her doorstep.

"Can we talk?" Stefan asked her.

"Why?" Elena asked.

"We went to see Katherine," Damon answered and Elena nodded, stepping aside to let them in.

"Come on in." She led them into the kitchen.

Evelyn looked up from her phone, smiling at the brothers. "Ah dumb and dumber, what can I do for you?" She asked.

Damon smirked, approaching towards her. "You can give your favourite person a kiss," he pouted and pointed to his lips.

Evelyn grabbed her half empty water bottle and struck it towards his face but Damon caught it. "You can kiss my ass," she remarked, rolling her eyes.

"Well then what are we waiting for?" He stood behind her, lifting her up from the stool and Evelyn squealed, wiggling her legs in the air.

"Damon!" Evelyn laughed and Damon chuckled, setting her back down. She tilted her chin up, looking at him upside down and Damon pressed a kiss on her forehead.

"Alright spill the tea," Evelyn said and Stefan explained what Katherine told him and Damon.

"You don't believe her, do you?" Elena asked skeptically.

"No, of course not," Damon answered with a roll of his eyes. "We just want the moonstone." He wrapped his arms from behind Evelyn and rested his chin on top of her head.

Stefan leaned against the counter. "According to Rose's friend Slater, there's a way to destroy the spell that Klaus wants to break."

"No spell, no doppelgΓ€nger sacrifice, ergo you live," Damon grinned triumphantly.

Elena frowned. "How do you destroy it?"

"By releasing it from the moonstone," Stefan told her.

"How do you guys even know this is gonna work?" She demanded.

"Cause we have a crafty witch on our side," Damon smirked.

Evelyn sighed, "You discussed it with Bonnie." It was a statement, not a question. She looked at both of them with a small frown.

"She agreed to do anything she could to help us," Stefan shurgged.

"It's Katherine who has the moonstone. She's not gonna give it to you," Elena said.

"We're gonna get it from her," Stefan answered.

Damon massaged Evelyn's shoulders and she sighed in content as he continued to speak. "Well, what he means to say is we will pry it from her cold dead hand if we have to."

"Bonnie just needs to find a way to release the seal long enough for us to get in, get the moonstone and get out in time for her to return it," Stefan explained.

"Wow," Elena said after a moment. "Seems like you guys have it already planned out."

"Yep, we're awesome," Damon boasted.

"I beg to differ," Evelyn retorted and swatted Damon's hand away when he ruffled her hair. She pushed him away, pouting and he pinched her nose, laughing.

"Except for one thing." Elena narrowed her eyes. "I don't want you to do it." Evelyn stiffened in her spot, giving her sister a raised eyebrow.

"What are you talking about? Elena, we don't have a choice," Stefan told her.

"What about Klaus?" She asked.

Once again Evelyn shivered at the mention of his name. "Okay! Can we not say his name? He gives me the heebie jeebies," she interrupted and shook her body.

"Heebie jeebies?" Stefan gave her an amused smile.

"Can we call him something else? How about Kevin? That sounds like an old man's name and he is one. So it's Kevin from now on. Yeah?" They gave her a look and she smiled innocently.

"Kevin it is," Damon nodded.

"We'll find Kla–" Stefan began but stopped when Evelyn cleared her throat. "We'll find Kevin right after we get the moonstone."

"Thank you," Evelyn nodded with a smile.

"Is that before or after he kills everything that I care about, including the three of you," Elena glanced at them.

"Elena, if we can dispel the moonstone, we can save your life," Stefan pointed out to her.

"I know," she sighed. "Everybody keeps saying that." She stalked out of the kitchen, leaving the vampires and Evelyn alone.

"Eve?" Evelyn looked up at Stefan, pleading her to talk some sense into Elena.

"I'll talk to her," Evelyn nodded.

━━━━━━━━━━

"I don't– I don't think we should do this," Evelyn murmured to Elena when they walked in the Salvatore Boarding house. "Let's go home and have twin bonding time," she persuaded.

"Later." Elena stood in front of her. "Please."

Evelyn was about to answer when they heard Rose's voice. "It's not nice to leave a girl naked so early in the morning." Rose fixed her silk robe. Evelyn's eyes widened and Elena stood still in her spot.

"Oh my God! I knew it!" Evelyn exclaimed. "I totally knew Damon would do the dirty dancing with you." She clapped her hands.

"Evelyn," Elena hissed and Evelyn stifled in her laughter.

"I knew it," Evelyn whispered and cheered to herself.

"There's no one else here," Rose informed them.

"Actually we came to talk to you," Elena answered.

"Then I should probably get changed," Rose nodded, and left them.

They settled in the living room as Elena explained about what she wanted to do. "That's a bad idea." Rose shook her head. "And Damon would kill me if I took off with Eve," she pointed to Evelyn

Evelyn was too busy playing a game on her phone to listen in to their conversation.

"No, it's not," Elena reassured. "From what Stefan told us your friend Slater obviously has more information about Klaus. You and Damon just gave up before you got it."

"Because somebody blew up a coffee shop with us in it," Rose snapped and Evelyn frowned, tucking her phone away back in her pocket.

"Blew it up?! Are you okay?" Evelyn asked, now sitting on the edge of her seat and looking over at Rose with concern. "Silly me. I forgot you're a vampire but are you still okay?" She repeated and rambled.

"I'm fine. Don't worry," Rose sent a small smile before turning to Elena.

"There's more to learn. We just have to find a way to learn it," Elena said.

"Why are you coming to me with this?" Rose demanded.

"Because you owe me. One word from either of us and Damon and Stefan could have killed you for kidnapping us," she said and Evelyn sighed.

"I won't snitch. I promise." Evelyn immediately shook her head. "And Elena won't snitch because she wouldn't want to end up in a ditch, would you?" She glared at Elena who sighed.

"Maybe it's because you know that they wouldn't want you doing this. And their moonstone caper gives you a chance to sneak away," Rose interrupted.

"We're having a disagreement, okay? They're willing to risk everyone that I love and I'm not," Elena said.

"They are just trying to protect you," Rose pointed out.

"And you've proven that you couldn't care less whether i'm protected or not, so we're back to you taking us to Slater." Elena crossed her arms over her chest firmly and Evelyn looked from Elena to Rose, unsure of what to do.

"What exactly do you hope to achieve by this?" Rose questioned curiously.

"How would you like to be able to walk during the daylight?" Elena bribed.

Evelyn understood where this was going and groaned lowly, burying her face in her hands. "Not Bonnie again. Leave my girl alone," she mumbled under her breath.

"I've been in the shadows for five hundred years, what do you think?" Rose asked.

"I think I know a witch who's willing to do whatever it takes to help, if you're willing to make a deal," Elena smirked and Evelyn huffed in annoyance.

She hated it when Bonnie was being used and more upset when Bonnie would willingly agree to it without knowing how much damage it would cause her.

Rose looked at over at Evelyn. "I'm a magnet to trouble apparently," she shrugged.

━━━━━━━━━━

"Wooh!" Evelyn giggled, turning off the radio after forcing and giving Elena and Rose the puppy eyes to do carpool karaoke with her. "That was fun. We should do this more often. Right?" She turned in her seat, a vibrant smile plastered on her face.

Rose and Elena shared a horrified look. "Yeah." They forced a nod and Evelyn beamed with joy, hopping out of the car.

"Is she always this excited?" Rose asked Elena.

Elena laughed, "Yeah."

"Careful, Eve!" Elena shouted out when Evelyn wasn't looking ahead and close to bumping into a wall.

"Don't worry. I'm not clumsy!" Evelyn waved it off.

They approached a door that was in need of new paint. Rose knocked on it. "Slater? Slater, it's Rose. Open up!" She called but there was no response. "He's not home, sorry."

"Uh uh." Elena stopped her from leaving. "No. We didn't come all the way out here for nothing."

"We should just go, let's not bother the guy," Evelyn suggested, but Elena kept shaking her head, refusing to leave.

"No. We're not leaving until we get answers." Elena turned to Rose who sighed and shoved open the doors.

A heavy chain fell away from the door as it was pushed open. "After you," Rose said to the girls and Elena stepped in first. Evelyn followed her slowly, feeling hesitant.

"This is trespassing," Evelyn murmured. "I don't want to get arrested. Let's go home." She urged, bouncing on her toes slightly.

"It's okay," Elena reassured her sister.

"Slater?" Rose called out once again. She went further into the spacious apartment, leaving the sisters to look around the entry way.

"I don't think he's gonna be much help," Rose said. Elena and Evelyn ran over to her.

Evelyn gasped at the sight, Slater was lying on the floor dead, a stake through his heart.

"Oh God. He's officially a dead man." Evelyn backed away. "We should definitely go." Elena caught her hand.

"We can't leave yet," she told her. "We still have to find the information."

"What if whoever killed him is still lurking around? I don't want to die!" Evelyn panicked and Rose shook her head.

"Whoever did this is long gone." She went down the hall and grabbed Slater's shirt collar before dragging him out of sight and Evelyn began biting on her nails, feeling slightly afraid.

Elena went over to the computer desk, looking through papers. "Looks like whoever blew up the coffee shop, found him and killed him for his information," she murmured.

"Probably to stop him from helping people like us," Rose sighed, coming back into the room. "The guy was a vampire almanac. Knowing too much information just bit him in the ass." She tossed the curtains aside, letting in the light.

Evelyn's eyes widened, running over to Rose and moving her away from the window. "Rose, you'll burn!"

"Tempered glass, UV rays can't penetrate," Rose informed her and Evelyn sighed in relief. "I used to just come here and watch the day."

"I'm sorry about Slater," Evelyn murmured, glancing at a picture of Slater and a girl then back to Rose.

Rose nodded at Evelyn then back to Elena. "Any luck?"

"It's password protected," Elena informed them as she pressed a key on the computer. "I can't get in."

"Then this is pointless, let's just go." The sound of something being knocked over came from further in the apartment. "Stay here," Rose told them firmly and went to check it out.

"Alice?"

Exchanging looks, Elena and Evelyn went over to Rose to see her being embraced by a crying woman. "Rose! He's dead!" She sobbed.

━━━━━━━━━━

"Just let it all out." Evelyn rubbed Alice's back, the crying girl resting her head on Evelyn's shoulder as she comforted the girl who she barely knew for even a minute. But it was the least she could offer.

"How about I make you some tea?" She asked and Alice sniffled, nodding her head.

"She's overreacting. Big time," Rose replied with an eye roll when Evelyn came into the kitchen.

"Rose, her boyfriend just died," Evelyn scolded lightly. "She isn't overreacting."

"Those tears are for her. She didn't care about Slater. She was only dating him long enough to see if he'd turn her," Rose said.

"That's horrible," Evelyn gasped.

Rose nodded. "Yeah, I know."

Evelyn walked over to the fridge to get the milk for the tea, she opened it and her eyes lit up. "Slater has ice cream in his freezer!" Excitement was laced in her tone.

"Eve, no," Elena told her off and Evelyn pouted. She swatted her hand away and stopped Evelyn from taking the ice cream.

"I'm starving," she mumbled, walking away from Elena.

"You ate an hour ago," Elena stated.

"That's a long time ago. Besides the ice cream will go to waste so I'll just finish it," Evelyn shrugged and Elena rolled her eyes.

Evelyn took the cup of tea and headed back into the living room. "Here you go, Alice."

"Thank you." Alice glanced over to Elena. "You look really familiar. Did you know Slater?"

"Not personally, no," Elena replied. "We just know that he kept detailed records of all his vampire's contacts and we were hoping that he could point us towards Klaus."

Evelyn shuddered again. Why was his name bothering her a lot?

"Doubtful. Klaus doesn't want to be pointed at," Alice said.

"Do you know Slater's computer password?" Elena asked.

"Are you seriously asking me that right now?" Alice scoffed. "I just saw my boyfriend with a stake through his heart."

"We know that and we're very sorry for your loss," Evelyn softly spoke. "I've seen worse. Not that I'm comparing," she mumbled, immediately removing the thoughts of Elijah chopping Trevor's head off

Elena then spoke up, "What if I could convince Rose to turn you?" She asked slyly and Alice no longer looked upset. Rose looked up from her position, eyes widening. "Will you show us his files then?"

Alice nodded and got up from the couch. She went over to the computer and logged in. "Someone's been here. The hard drive is completely wiped out."

"Yeah, probably whoever killed him," Rose muttered.

"Lucky for you, Slater was paranoid. Everything's backed up on our remote server."

Rose turned to Elena. "You know that she is not going anywhere near my blood, right?" She asked lowly.

"I know but she doesn't," Elena smirked and Rose smirked back.

"Kristen Stewart?" Evelyn laughed, looking at the files on the computer. "He's obvious. Can we watch Twilight tonight?" She whispered to Elena who nodded in return.

"Rose, you should watch it with us. You look like Alice Cullen," Evelyn smiled and Rose let out a small laugh, shaking her head towards the girl.

"These are all leads to vampires?" Elena asked, coming over to look at the computer too.

"Slater was obsessed. Almost as much as me," Alice muttered.

"What about that one?" Rose commented. "Cody Weber? They exchanged dozens of emails about Elijah, that has to be something, right?"

"I could call him," Alice offered and Elena passed her the phone quickly.

"Tell him that we're trying to send a message to Klaus: the doppelgΓ€nger is alive and she's ready to surrender."

"What?!" Rose looked at her like she was crazy and Evelyn gasped.

"This better be a joke," Evelyn warned Elena.

"Oh my God! I knew I recognised you!" Alice said to her in amazement.

"Get him the message please," Elena replied and walked off. Evelyn and Rose followed after her rapidly.

"What are you doing?" Rose hissed.

"I'm getting Klaus' attention." Elena shrugged simply.

Rose's eyes widened. "If Klaus knows that you're alive, he'll find you and he'll kill you." Elena looked away and Rose came to a realisation. "Which is exactly what you wanted all along."

"No, Elena. You can't do this." Evelyn grabbed on to her shoulders, making Elena face her. "I don't want to lose you."

"And I can't let him kill you, Eve so I have to do it," Elena spoke softly and tears were threatening to spill out of Evelyn's eyes.

"I'll beat his ass before he can lay a finger on me!" Evelyn scowled and took a deep breath. Okay, maybe not, I was bluffing.

"So this whole charade is some suicide mission so that you could sacrifice yourself and save everyone else?" Rose asked, narrowing her eyes.

"This is crazy, Elena. Let's leave now." Evelyn tugged on her hand but Elena didn't budge.

"Cody is on his way and he really wants to meet you." Alice said from the kitchen doorway and they looked over at her.

Elijah came into the study and eyed the things on Jonas Martin, a warlock's desk. Upon the desk was a picture of Evelyn in a sundress, smiling brightly. The next few items were things taken from Evelyn's house the night before which Jonas had stolen to locate her. There were strands of hair from her hairbrush and some of her jewellery. "So how exactly does this spell work?" Elijah questioned, looking up from the picture.

Jonas held out his hand. "Give me your hand." Elijah looked at him for a moment before placing his hand palm up. The warlock took a knife and sliced open Elijah's palm, letting blood flow down. "And place it here." He turned Elijah's hand and settled it over Evelyn's picture.

"Now take my hand." With his free hand, Elijah took the warlock's hand, still watching the man with a warning clear in his eyes for this not to be a trick. "Close your eyes, relax your mind and look for her," Jonas told him and Elijah closed his eyes. Jonas began chanting lowly in latin.

Meanwhile, a terrified Evelyn paced along Slater's UV blocking window. She was full of nerves and wanted to leave. She glanced out the window, her mind reeling from all the thoughts and suddenly noticed an odd reflection: Elijah.

"Scary suit man?!" Her eyes grew wide and she screamed before whirling around, only to find no one was there.

Elena ran over to her. "What's wrong?"

"I thought I saw– Never mind. I'm just scared I guess," Evelyn murmured and Elena embraced her in a hug, to calm her down.

Elijah opened his eyes and met the warlock's gaze. "You saw her, didn't you?" Jonas asked.

"I know exactly where she is," Elijah nodded.

"Are you sure about her. Is she who she really is?"

"Evelyn means more to my brother than you know," Elijah murmured to Jonas.

Elena noticed that Alice was looking at something behind her and she turned around. Damon was right behind her, and she gasped in shock, putting a hand on her chest. "What are you doing here?" Damon hissed.

"What are you doing here?" Elena asked him and turned when Rose came into the room. "You called him," she accused the vampire.

Rose grimaced. "I'm sorry, Elena."

"You said that you understood."

"She lied. Where's Eve?" Damon eyes flickered over when a voice spoke up.

Evelyn eyes widened when she seen Damon, glaring at her. "Damon," she gasped. He sped over to Evelyn, towering over her, a livid expression on his face. He was angry.

"Um– ice cream?" Evelyn offered, hesitantly shoving the cone in front of his face. "It's chocolate fudge," she nervously laughed.

"Damon Salvatore." Alice laughed. "No way."

"Get rid of her," Damon scowled at Rose and the vampire did as he ordered. Once they were gone, he looked back at Evelyn. "Did we not have a conversation about doing stupid things and staying away from trouble?" He snapped and Evelyn frowned.

Elena stood in between them. "Don't shout at her. It's my fault."

"Come on, we're leaving." Damon reached out to grab Evelyn's hand.

"No," Elena snapped, moving Evelyn behind her.

"I said we're leaving." Damon left no room to argue.

"I'm not going with you." Elena shook her head.

"You don't get to make the decisions anymore," Damon sternly spoke.

"Guys." Evelyn spoke in a soft tone. "Let's all calm down."

"When have I ever made a decision?" Elena demanded. "You and Stefan do that for me. Now this is my decision," she told Damon.

"Who's gonna save your life while you're out making decisions?" He questioned her.

"Are we going to ignore me?" Evelyn casually spoke, eating her ice cream and her head constantly moving left to right from Damon to Elena.

"You're not listening to me, Damon. I don't want to be saved. Not if it means that Klaus is gonna kill every single person that I love," Elena continued to speak.

"I guess we are ignoring me then," Evelyn mumbled, finishing off her ice cream.

"Get your ass out the door before I throw you over my shoulder and carry you out myself," Damon threatened then glanced at Evelyn. "Because I will do it, Eve and you won't like it."

She narrowed her eyes at him. "Hey! There's no need to do that. I told Elena to leave." Evelyn defended herself.

"I'm not going," Elena demanded.

"Elena! Stop it!" Evelyn snapped, now getting impatient with her. "I've had enough!"

Elena made to punch Damon but he grabbed her clenched fist squeezing it hard and jerking her as close to him as possible, and she winced in pain. "Don't ever do that again," he warned lowly.

"Stop! You're hurting my sister." Evelyn removed Damon's hand away from Elena's.

"Let's not resort to violence, okay?" Evelyn lightly pushed Damon away. "We're all friends here." She grabbed a hold of Elena's hand, rubbing it to ease the pain as Elena winced a little.

"Time to go." Damon walked in the room, startling Evelyn who had been sleeping with her head resting on Elena's lap. "Alice is soundly sleeping and won't remember a moment of this horribly stupid day."

Suddenly, the doors to Slater's apartment burst open, causing everyone to eye the door. Evelyn stood up and got close to Damon, who put his arm out to keep her behind him.

Three men walked in, glancing around at each of them. One of them stepped forward. "We're here to meet the doppelgΓ€nger." Cody, they assumed, told them.

"Thank you for coming," Elena murmured and made to move, but Damon took her arm, preventing her from moving.

"I will break your arm," he threatened lowly. "There is nothing here for you." He snapped at the men.

His movement left Evelyn unhidden and Cody's eyes widened. "It's her," he mumbled, looking at the other two men and seconds after he spoke one of the men fell to the wooden floor, dead.

There stood Elijah.

Evelyn gasped and gripped at the back Damon's top. Rose sped away from the room in a panic and Elijah looked over at them, taking notice that Evelyn was peering at him from behind Damon.

"I killed you," Damon said in disbelief, narrowing his eyes. "You were dead."

"For centuries now." Elijah smirked and turned to the man. "Who are you?"

"Who are you?" The man asked back rudely.

"I'm Elijah."

The reply made the man gulp nervously. "We were gonna bring her to you, for Klaus. She's the doppelgΓ€nger and–" He then looked at Evelyn and Elijah took notice of that. They knew about Evelyn now.

"Does anyone else know that you're here?" Elijah interrupted before the man could say anything else.

"No."

"Well, then you have been incredibly helpful." Without a warning, he shoved his hands into their chests, ripping out both their hearts at the same time and dropped them to the floor.

Elijah's eyes averted to Evelyn who was already looking at him and she quickly hid her face behind Damon's back. Fear was evident in them and his eyes softened for her. She was afraid of him.

"My apologies for that." He nodded with a small smile and left the room in a blur.

"Damon," Evelyn whispered and he looked down at her. "I feel sick. Can we go home?" Damon nodded, wrapping his arm around her and Elena followed after them.

"Are you angry with me?" Evelyn bit on her bottom lip.

"I'm trying to be," he mumbled and Evelyn sighed. "But I can't bring myself to be angry with you." He smiled and her lips stretched into a wider one.

"Jeremy?" Evelyn opened the door to his bedroom when she saw him in front of his mirror, noticing a huge wound visible on the side of his neck. "What the hell happened?!"

"It's nothing. I'm fine." Jeremy dismissed it.

"I'm giving you 5 seconds to explain how you managed to bleed from your neck. Don't test me," Evelyn demanded in a serious tone.

Jeremy sighed and turned to her, explaining the situation. Apparently he had been trying to get the moonstone off Katherine and the result ended up with the vampire, biting and in the process killing him. Thankfully, he had his ring and Stefan entered the tomb taking the moonstone off Katherine but he sadly was trapped inside with her now.

"Sit down," Evelyn instructed and Jeremy obliged as she ran into the bathroom to find a first aid kit. She returned back seconds later, and stood in front of him, treating his wound.

"Oh stop whining!" She scolded when Jeremy hissed as she applied the ointment on to his skin then a bandage to cover the wound. "There, don't sleep on this side too much." She gently rubbed over the bandage.

"EJ?" Jeremy looked up at her and Evelyn sighed, sitting besides him and answering his question he was about to ask.

"I'm overwhelmed that's all." She rested her head on his shoulder. "A lot lately," she mumbled.

Hearing a knock on their front door, Jeremy stood up and left the room to answer it. Evelyn followed after him.

"Is Eve here? I need to talk to her." Tyler asked.

"No!" Jeremy rolled his eyes and slammed the door shut in his face.

"Jeremy!" Evelyn scolded and Jeremy blocked her from opening the door. "You didn't have to act like that," she murmured, pushing him aside.

"EJ." Jeremy began but Evelyn ignored him.

"Tyler." Evelyn breathed out and the wolf looked at her.

"Hey. Can we talk?" He asked, nervously shifting on his feet.

"Uh, yeah. Sure," she nodded, glancing over her shoulder and warned Jeremy to not do anything else. "Don't eavesdrop. I'll be fine." Jeremy rolled his eyes, nodding.

Wrapping the cardigan tighter around her, Evelyn smiled awkwardly at Tyler who was sat on the bench that was set outside the porch. He motioned with a nod of his head and she sat down next to him. "Before you start, I want to apologise for what I did yesterday." Evelyn began but Tyler cut her off.

"It's not your fault. I took your comfort as a wrong gesture and I shouldn't have tried to kiss you. I'm sorry, Eve," Tyler apologised and Evelyn slowly nodded.

"So–" She drawled out, looking down at her feet that were more interesting to her right now.

"Where did we go wrong?" Tyler asked and Evelyn eyes shifted over to him, a look of sadness was displayed on his face. "What did I do?"

"No, you didn't do anything wrong. I'm so sorry, Ty," Evelyn turned her body to him, giving him her full attention.

"You were never the problem, my imagination was– I– I thought I could see a future with you but I couldn't. I tried so hard but my mind was blank when it came to us," she sighed, tears brimming in her eyes.

"I didn't want to hurt you so I forced myself to believe that I would eventually fall in love with you but I think I lost what I felt for you romantically a long time ago. I know this sounds harsh but we are not meant to be together. Never were," she told him the brutal truth.

Tyler gulped the lump forming in his throat. "But we still have time," he tried to convince her.

"No, we don't. I don't think time will help with my feelings for you." She shook her head. "And it'll be unfair on you so you have to let us go," she whispered.

"Eve," Tyler sighed, taking a shaky deep breath.

Both of their eyes were filled with tears. "Remember I still love and care for you. As a friend. That can never leave."

"It's just that I needed good and I saw that in you," he murmured.

"You deserve better Ty, and i'm not that person. You deserve someone far much better than me," Evelyn said.

Tyler shook his head, "Don't say it like that."

"But it's true. I'll be dragging you down with my problems. You don't need that." She reached out to hold his hand, intertwining it and gave it a gentle squeeze. "So please, move on."

Tyler seemed hesitant and Evelyn continued to speak. "I'll always be here for you," she sniffled.

"I know," Tyler nodded, a tear slipping from his eyes.

"You have a pure soul Eve, and I wish they were more people like you. You're an angel," he spoke softly and she smiled with teary eyes. "Don't ever change and don't let anyone change you."

Tyler nodded and wiped away his own tears. "Thank you. For giving me a chance at least and making me happy."

"Thank you for understanding," Evelyn whispered and Tyler reached out to wipe her own tears away.

Evelyn closed her eyes when Tyler kissed her on the forehead then rested his forehead against hers.

She was the first to move her head back, smiling at Tyler as she kissed him on the cheek and he nodded with a smile of his own, giving their hands that were intertwined together a gentle squeeze and rose up from his seat, murmuring a goodby to Evelyn then left.

Evelyn inhaled a shaky deep breath, watching the stars as night welcomed it's way in. "Hey." Elena smiled at her sister.

"Hi," Evelyn said.

"I saw Tyler leave, do you want to talk about it?" She asked.

"No." Evelyn played with her fingers. "But can you hold me?"

"Sure." Elena took a seat besides her and Evelyn shifted closet to her, finding comfort in her sister's arms. Evelyn sniffled and Elena rubbed her back.

As the twins looked up at the glittering stars, Jeremy came to sit besides Evelyn on the other side and he too wrapped his arms around his sisters, sitting and enjoying each other's company in a comfortable silence.

"I love you both so much," Evelyn whispered.

"We love you too." Her siblings smiled, and rested their forehead on the side of her head, relishing this sweet moment.

Evelyn sighed deeply as she felt like a massive weight had been lifted off her shoulders, yet the main issue was still there. She was so focused on what everyone wanted that she had lost sight on what she deserved.

Her chaos was waiting for her.

Happy Black History Month!

For those who wanted a flashback. I'm sorry. I didn't have time to write it in this book. So the flashback's about Eve and her relationship with both Bonnie and Tyler amongst others things will be in my one shot book.

Have a wonderful day. I love you.
