"Meilani McCall," Gerard said, his eyes skimming through Meilani's file that he held in his hands. "Academically gifted and it seems as if you've become the star athlete."
Meilani gave him a nervous smile, but tried to make it seem more of a sheepish one than a nervous one. The only thing coursing through her mind right then was the fact that the man that could end her life in the matter of a second was sat just five feet from her. He wouldn't even think twice about killing her if he knew what she really was. She had never been more grateful for Chris than that moment. At least he was good in one aspect: keeping her secret a secret.
"Scott McCall," Gerard continued, opening up Scott's file next. "Twin to Meilani, but completely opposite besides the looks. Not so academically gifted and because of your asthma, it's hard for you to play lacrosse as much as your sister and friend here."
It wasn't obvious to Gerard or Stiles, but Meilani could tell Scott was fuming on the inside. Not only could she hear his heart racing faster than it should and could smell the anger and protectiveness radiating off him as he sat on her left while Stiles sat to her right. It always seemed to happen to where the boys kept her between them so they could always make sure she was safe.
"Then there is Mr. Stilinski. Perfect grades, but little to no extracurriculars," Gerard noted, reading from Stiles' file last. "Maybe you should try lacrosse."
"Oh, actually I'm already - "
Gerard held his hand up to cut Stiles off mid-sentence. "Hold on. McCall. You're the Scott that was dating my granddaughter."
Scott seemed to freeze at the comment and glanced warily at his twin. "Uh... we were dating but not anymore. Not seeing or doing anything with each other... at all."
Gerard chuckled softly and sat back in his chair. "Relax, Scott, it's looks like you're about to crack a cyanide pill with your teeth."
"Just a hard break up."
"That's too bad because you seem like a pretty nice kid to me," Gerard responded before he turned his attention to all three of the teens in front of him. "Now listen, guys. Yes, I am the principal, but I really don't want you to think of me as the enemy."
"Heh, is that so?" Stiles remarked and Meilani elbowed him in the rib.
If Gerard noticed anything odd, he didn't mention it. "Now it is also my first day, so I do need to support my teachers. So unfortunately someone is going to have to take the fall and stay behind for detention."
Scott and Meilani both looked to Stiles who was fiddling with the end of his red and black flannel. When he noticed the room suddenly went quiet, Stiles glanced around the room and stopped when he noticed the look his girlfriend was giving him. Practically begging him to be the one to take the fall for it.
Stiles exhaled heavily and reluctantly took the detention slip that Gerard held out to him.

Once Scott and Meilani were let out of the office, Meilani rushed out of the office and yelled over her shoulder for Scott to head to class while she went to go after Isaac. She could still smell and hear his heartbeat outside and that meant Noah didn't pull away yet with him. He needed to be warned that a werewolf hunter was their new principal and he needed to be extra careful.
However just as Meilani made it outside to the parking lot, Noah had just begun to pull away with Isaac staring out the back at Meilani. She stopped at the bottom of the steps with a sigh as Noah turned the car around the corner and disappeared out of sight. There goes that warning.
Just as Meilani was about to turn and go back into the school, Derek stopped in front of her and lowered his window to reveal his face that was covered by black sunglasses. "Get in."
"Are you serious?" Meilani scoffed and gestured to her left where Noah and Isaac had gone. "You did that. That's your fault."
Derek bowed his head and Meilani could tell he was trying to not get annoyed at her. "I know that. Now get in the car and help me."
"No, I've got a better idea. I'm gonna call a lawyer because a lawyer might actually have a chance of getting Isaac out before the full moon goes up."
"Not when they do a search of the house."
Meilani furrowed her eyebrows, walking closer to the car so she stood a few feet from the car. "What are you talking about?"
"Whatever Jackson told the cops, what's in the house is worse. A lot worse," Derek emphasized and opened the passenger door with an expectant face.
Meilani slapped a hand to her side and reluctantly got in the passenger seat, shutting the door behind her.

"If Isaac didn't kill his father, who did?" Meilani asked, shining her flashlight around Isaac's foyer.
Derek shook his head and followed behind Meilani as she walked further into the house. "I don't know yet."
"Then how do you know he's telling the truth?"
"I trust my senses and it's a combination of them. Not just your sense of smell."
Meilani paused and stopped in the middle of the living room next to Derek. "You saw the lacrosse thing today."
"Yeah," Derek whispered and he almost seemed disappointed in her.
"Did it really look that bad?"
Derek wrapped an arm around Meilani's shoulder and led her further into the house. "Yeah."
The two stepped outside a white door and Derek opened it, revealing the stairs that lead down to the basement. "You wanna learn? Let's start now."
Meilani slowly descended the stairs, the wooden steps creaking under her feet. "What's down here?"
"Motive," was Derek's ominous response.
Meilani shined her light around the basement that was littered with random boxes and items. She had to step over multiple things before she'd trip since the basement was a complete mess. "What am I looking for exactly?"
"Follow your senses," Derek said from his place at the top of the steps.
Meilani's eyes scanned around the room, a plastic sheet hanging in the corner of the room. The whole basement gave her a weird vibe and she didn't like it. "What happened down here?"
"The kind of thing that leaves an impression."
Meilani stopped at the wall and noticed three long scratches along the concrete wall. She trailed her three fingers along the scratches and it was obvious a person had made the scratches since her fingers lined up with the three scratches. Her senses suddenly kicked in and she turned her head towards the ice box on the other side of the room.
Slowly standing to her feet, Meilani walked over to the ice box and she felt her heart rate pick up with every step she took. An opened lock was hung from the lock hole on the lid of the ice box. She lifted the lock up when Derek suddenly opened his flashlight and scared her.
"Open it," Derek instructed, motioning his flashlight to the ice box.
Meilani slowly lifted up the lid and there were dozens of more scratches along the walls and lid of the ice box. It was as if someone had been trapped inside and they were try to claw their way out of it. She let go of the lid and it slammed closed.
"So this is why he said yes to you," Meilani noted.
"Everyone wants power."
Meilani ran a hand through her hair as she just felt the weight on her shoulders grow even more. "Okay... if we help you, then you have to stop. You can't just go around turning people into werewolves."
"I can if they're willing," Derek countered, shutting his flashlight and dropping his hand to his side.
Meilani raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms. "Did you tell Isaac about the Argents? About being hunted?"
"Yes, and he still asked."
"Then he's an idiot."
Derek gave her a deadpan expression. "And your twin is the idiot dating Argent's daughter and you're the idiot for still being buddy-buddy with her."
Meilani's face fell as she had no idea how Derek would have even known that.
"Yeah, I know your little secret, Meilani, and if I know, how long do you think it's gonna take for them to find out? You saw what happens to an omega." He leaned closer and placed a hand on Meilani's shoulder. "With me, you learn how to use all of your senses. With me, you learn control."
Meilani raised her hand as her nails grew out into her werewolf ones and she sighed. Guess the full moon was beginning to take its effect.
"Even on the full moon," Derek finished, noticing her change and holding her wrist up higher to show her.
Meilani snatched her wrist out of his and glared at him. "Derek, if I'm with you then not only would I lose Allison as a friend, but I'm sure I'll lose the boys too because they would have targets on their backs."
"You're gonna lose her anyway and Scott and Stiles have had a target on their back since you were turned because of your relationship to them. That won't change anything. You and I both know that."
Meilani glared at Derek's back as he began to make his way back towards the stairs. "Wait!" She called and Derek slowly turned back around to face her. "I'm not part of your pack, but I want Isaac out. He's my responsibility too."
"Why? Because he's one of us?"
"Because he's innocent."

"Meilani?" Scott called as he made his way down the stairs of Isaac's basement half an hour later. He stopped at the bottom of the stairs and paused when he saw Meilani knelt on the ground a few feet from the stairs, breathing heavily with her head bowed.
Allison knelt in front of her and placed a hand on her shoulder, not even flinching when Meilani's flickering eyes looked up at her. "Are you sure about this?"
"Where?" Scott asked quietly, hating that he had to chain his sister up like a dog.
Meilani shined her flashlight at the ice box with the lock sat on top of it. She stood to her feet and lead the couple over to the ice box. The lock was handed to Scott and Meilani opened the lid, climbing inside the ice box and curled into a ball on the bottom.
"Mei..."
"Please," Meilani begged her twin, looking up at him desperately. "I don't want to hurt you or Allison."
Scott leant down and kissed his twin on the forehead and ran a comforting hand over her hair. "Just... call me if you want out. Please?"
Once he got the nod from his sister, Scott stepped back and let Allison shut the lid and set Meilani in darkness. She could hear the chains going around the ice box before the lock clicked into place.
"It's done. It's locked," Allison yelled to Meilani who could have heard her regardless if she yelled or not.
"Okay... now go," Meilani told her brother and Allison as her eyes finally glowed yellow and her teeth grew out.
"Mei, I can't - "
"Just go!" Meilani yelled at her twin, wanting him and Allison as far away as they could. No way would she allow herself to hurt them. The sound of two pairs of feet walking off made Meilani relax slightly because now she knew that the both of them would be safe.
It was quiet for a few minutes before Allison and Scott's screams could be heard from upstairs. Meilani's senses kicked in and she banged against the ice box, creating dents and breaks in the box until she chains and lock broke off. She leapt out of the box and burst through the basement door and stopped in front of Scott and Allison. Her eyes slowly trailed to the ceiling where a scaled creature with a tail clung to the ceiling like it was Spiderman.
The creature hissed at the three before it crawled off the ceiling and escaped out the front door.
Meilani stood to her feet and stared where the creature escaped with Scott and Allison stood behind her on either side.
"What the hell was that?" Allison whispered, trying to relax her racing heart and placing the knife gripped in her hand on the counter next to her.
"I don't know."
