Chapter Two
You barely made it to the river before these warriors, skillful in their craft, started to chase you down like animals. The arrows from their weapons pierced the trees, grazing your arm at one point which caused you to turn back to the village, but in the midst of the chaos you lost Yuna. You went unnoticed as you maneuvered yourself through the paths and crouched down behind the pile of haystacks near your shack, only able to listen as these men ransacked the inside of your homes and threw the makeshift furniture into the fires they had created.
"Have you found them?"
The voice was low with a melodic tone and you could distinguish it, which meant these warriors could speak the native language of your people, not just common like the other villages.
"They were headed for the river, but we tracked them down and chased them back here."
Curiosity was one of your rancorous traits and so you moved yourself into a position that let you see the two men.
The first had mahogany hair tied up messily with a thin strap of fabric. It was long, you could tell from the strands that framed his face, slightly rounded with strong bone structure that gave him a rugged and fierce appearance, and intense eyes that were speckled with tints of hazel, often giving off a cruel and intimidating look. But the impressive scar running over his left cheek was his most striking feature, a constant reminder of a battle he barely made it out of.
The taller one had a toned physique, seemingly carved from years of fighting and a golden complexion which had been naturally tanned from the sun. Rounded, soft eyes of a darker hue were framed by dark hair tousled over his forehead, the length reaching his collarbone with a slight wave. His face was perfectly symmetrical with handsome features, high cheekbones, a sharp jawline and a defined arch in his lips as they etched into a frown.
"They must be around here somewhere, they couldn't have gotten far."
You watched as he crouched down, skin glistening with sweat and muscular arms bare of sleeves unlike the other men. There were some noticeable scars, with blood staining his hands as he reached his hand, eyebrows furrowed as he picked up a rose colored ribbon and stared at it.
Lifting a hand to your hair, you worriedly felt for the ribbon you wore, but your hair was now cascading down your back and no longer tied up.
"Little bitches are good at fucking hiding, Taehyung." An older man grunted, his hair a lighter shade of gray pulled back neatly with various wrinkles across his face and a sword flung over his shoulder. "Won't be so clever when I get my hands on them."
The handsome one,Taehyung, stood up sharply from his crouched position, eyes dark and tantalizing as they focused on the one who just spoke. "You touch the one I'm looking for, you won't have any hands by tomorrow. Understood?"
Hands raised in surrender, the older man laughed. "The other one is still up for grabs though, right?"
Scoffing, Taehyung motioned to the forest and threw his hand up. "Why don't you keep looking, you useless piece of shit or you won't be getting that one either."
The mahogany haired warrior with the scar on the left side of his face stood forward when the older man snarled and turned back in the direction of the forest, obviously angered because of the orders he was given. "Why this girl in particular, Tae? I don't understand what is so different about her, there are many women just as beautiful."
"You don't understand, Yoongi." The younger warrior answered, "It is not her beauty, she is different from the other savages."
"If that is so, she is not one who wants to be found."
"I already found this, it is hers." You did not hear him over the sound of foreboding footsteps resounding from the grove of trees, nor did you see the way he held up the item in his hand and showed it to Yoongi with a smile.
"We found one of them."
You clasped a hand over your mouth when Yuna appeared in your peripheral vision, her clothing disheveled and bare legs covered in dirt, clawing at the callous hand that dragged her by a handful of hair. Her screams of protest got louder the nearer they got, but she continued to thrash against the man, now throwing her fists into his side as she was roughly yanked to her feet before being shoved down in front of the one named Taehyung.
"The girl you were with, where is she?"
"Even if I did know," Yuna challenged with a temper in her words. "I wouldn't tell you."
The girl you were with.
He was talking about you.
"You foolish woman," Taehyung scoffed, the faintest of smirks on his face when he snatched her wrist and yanked her to her feet so she was now standing in front of him. The height difference was intimidating as he glared down at her, but Yuna did not cower, she simply brushed the hair from her face with her other hand and looked right back at him. "Do you not realize what I can do to you?"
"That is why I won't tell you."
The warrior only snarled at Yuna's unavailing attempts of freedom when she tried to wrench her wrist from his adamantine grip, the coalescence of bruises forming on her skin. "If you do not want to be treated like a whore by my men, you only need to tell me where she is, savage."
Yuna, stubborn in her ways, only narrowed her eyes. "I would never take the word of a barbarian, you-"
You would have screamed had it not been for the hand clasped over your mouth when the warrior, Taehyung, snatched her neck in a harsh grip, effortlessly holding most of her weight when he lifted his arm and forced her to balance on the tips of her feet. His pulchritudinous features were twisted with rage, hand clenching the more Yuna desperately pried at his hands and made futile attempts to kick him - but he was not hindered, and the more she struggled, the harder was getting to ignore the terrified look on her face and how her lashes fluttered.
"LET HER GO!"
You did not recognize the unkindness in your voice as you scrambled out from behind the haystacks and tried to run in Yuna's direction. However, your fingers barely touched her when the dark haired male, Taehyung, released her and in two strides, caught you around your waist and hauled you over his shoulder. The wind was knocked out of you when your stomach collided with his upper back, his strength evident in how easily he lifted you, not even phased when you brought your fists down on his toned back and tightened his arms around your upper thighs.
"Put me down, you barbarian! Let go-"
Your yells were silenced by Yuna's profanities as she threatened to kill him, unable to see from your position how she frantically tried to reach for you before being caught by the mahogany haired man.
"What should I do with this one?" Yoongi questioned with confusion.
"Put her with the others and do what you will with her." Taehyung answered, a nonchalant shrug in his stance as he continued to carry you on his shoulder and turned towards the clearing. "I've found what I was looking for."
You cried out when Yuna continued to scream, tears forming in your eyes because you couldn't do anything but watch as the other warrior grabbed her upper arm and started to drag her towards the forest. You reached your own hand out, trying to reach for her, but it was useless and the further the one carrying you got, the more her silhouette started to disappear in the distance. There was an ache in your heart as you sobbed, the stench of blood on the warriors armor filling your nostrils and making you cry more.
It was unrecognizable, your village, as he walked along the outskirts. A place that had once been so beautiful was now reduced to ruins. The memories, the laughter, it had all been destroyed and now all that was left was the bodies of your people lying where they had met their demise, some of them lay in heaps, presumably put there by the warriors and others you no longer recognized from the brutality of the warriors. Your people had been defenseless, having no way of protecting themselves from these barbarians and yet they still felt the need to be so cruel.
They were monsters.
Your sobs soon turned to quiet tears when you neared the clearing next to the forest, able to make out some of the other women, varying in ages as they huddled together and cried, their gentle pleads going unheard as their wrists were secured with rope. But your captor did but take you to them, instead, he turned towards the horses and the multitude of warriors who were gathered there.
"My people," You whispered, "I don't understand."
"Of course you don't, savage." Taehyung muttered, tightening his arm around upper legs before crouching down and throwing you onto the ground. It was not that much of a fall, but you still gasped loudly from the impact and vigorously rubbed your lower back. "I don't expect you to."
"I'm not a savage."
"You could have fooled me." The warrior all but spat, his expression changing and darkened by so much animosity. He took a moment to stare at you, noticing how much more beautiful you looked in the sunlight as it dissolved through the tree branches and how despite the anger in your eyes, you were not in the least bit threatening. He had waited so long for this moment, so many days of watching and finally, you were his. "You're uncultured and covered in filth, yet you tell me you are not a savage?"
Glancing down at your clothing, you frowned. There was nothing wrong with how your people dressed, you made these fabrics yourself - the dress you were wearing in particular was one of your finer ones, with pretty shades of brown and a belt made from leaves weaved together tied around your waist to accentuate your curves. He was right that it was now filthy, but that was only because you had been dragged through dirt and made to run from these monsters.
"You're a barbarian, I shouldn't be surprised you know what filth is." You whispered, saying exactly what was on your mind.
Taehyung stepped forward in an egregious manner, a smirk on his handsome face. "You think I'm a barbarian?"
"The elders told me about your kind, I need not think about it, I know so."
"This is not the face of a fucking barbarian," Tae growled, "It is that of a warrior."
You were going to say something back, but were interrupted when he snatched your arm and started to thread the rope around your wrists. The material abraded against your soft skin and it took everything for you not to vocalize he was hurting you, so much that you had to bite on your lower lip. He did not care about your comfort, focused on making sure you weren't able to wriggle your hands before he secured the ends and used the length still remaining to drape around the saddle of his horse. It was exactly the same as how the other women were tied, meaning there was no way you would be able to run.
"You're hurting me."
"I don't care, savage." He warned, exerting more pressure on your wrists when he yanked the rope and pulled you up. "Now be quiet, or I will drag you by your feet instead."
"You men are monsters."
Smirking, he hoisted himself onto his horse before commanding it to strut forward. "There are scarier things than us out there."
"I don't think anything could be scarier than you."
"Then you should be glad that you haven't met people worse than me. Now keep up, savage. I do not want to drag you."
