"Who are you?" A voice with a low pitch inquired from behind. Y/n squealed internally from the sudden echo in her ears, she quietly closed the door, her back still facing the person standing behind her.
"Who the hell are you, miss!?"
The manly voice rang inside Y/n's ears once again making her feel some unfamiliar similarity with the man. With one last breath she nervously turned around, and her eyes widened in greater shock.
"YOU!"
"YOU!"
Both Namjoon and Y/n simultaneously half yelled at each other while pointing their index finger at the least expected person they wished to meet.
"How the hell are you in my house?" Namjoon furiously asked, his eyebrows giving a frowned look while his eyes narrowed.
"Y-Your house?" Y/n stuttered while Namjoon moved closer, his jaws were clenched in fury, and his features looked like he was internally despising every ounce of Y/n's presence in his house.
"Answer! Because I'm not going to let you get away with it easily this time," he said while gritting his teeth.
"Namjoon-ah, you're here already," SeokJin spoke from behind, and the two rival's eyes pierced in his direction.
"H-Hyung, do you know her?" Namjoon moved towards Jin and asked him whether he was the one to take her in, and Jin nodded while humming. A faint smile plastered across SeokJin's lips as he whispered to himself, "Habits are habits."
When Namjoon's glare met Y/n, she bounced herself behind SeokJin's back.
"Joon-ah, let's talk about this later. Go change into something comfortable," SeokJin added.
For a brief moment, both the brothers stared into each other's soul as if having a conversation in their minds.
"Fine," Namjoon said and went straight to his room, making Y/n finally able to breathe, but soon Jin interrupted.
"How do you know him?"
"We argued on the street."
Jin pinched his nose bridge and released a sigh to calm himself down, "Fine what happened, happened. Just don't show your silliness on his site."
"So you're implying that I am silly?"
"Darling, what do you think if it ain't for me, anybody would have eaten you alive or thrown you in the deepest valleys of our kingdom," Jin half smilingly added.
"Everyone, flirty Jin has arrived. Please look up for your respective seats," Y/n amusedly said, it took Jin a moment to realise what she meant, making Y/n crack up at his dumbfounded expression.
But what Jin said next, made Y/n's happy laugh change to coughing, "Did you book your seat to ride my train?"
Y/n glanced at him in the middle of her coughing and found him smirking in victory.
Soon the guy with dragon eyes and high cheekbones entered. Now in his pale olive green sweat pants.
Jin signaled the two of them to sit across the table. Three of them got seated on the wooden floor with their legs folded. The air was thick, filled with the scent of mystery as if the three of them held a secret of their own.
Namjoon never once made eye contact with Y/n, or else they would've ended up glaring at each other. SeokJin, on the other hand, seemed to be the most comfortable but a hint of nervousness danced across his features.
"Let's introduce ourselves because I still don't know your name," Jin said while pointing at Y/n.
"What? You don't know her name and yet you took her in?!" Namjoon impatiently added.
"Namjoon, I'm here to discuss something serious and yet you keep on throwing tantrums," SeokJin said with a stern voice.
"What's your name, who you are, and how did you end up here? Tell us everything."
The air contained nothing but seriousness when Jin asked Y/n about her existence. But to Y/n, this was all confusing and tiring at the same time.
"Whoa-ho! Why are you interrogating me like I'm some sort of a criminal?"
"You might not be a criminal but you're a human so it's--"
"WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?"
Jin was cut off in the middle of his sentence when Namjoon interrupted again, banging his fists on the table. SeokJin pinched his nose bridge in frustration while Namjoon yelled again.
"HOW THE HELL DID YOU ENTER HERE?TELL ME WHOSE SPY ARE YOU OR ELSE I'LL KILL YOU RIGHT AWAY!"
On hearing a growling Namjoon, an involuntary shiver ran down Y/n's spine. Her eyes widened in terror when he glared at her with clenched jaws and curled fists. The nerves on his neck were visible from the aggression making her shudder internally.
"Namjoon! That's my last call. I don't understand why you are losing it so much so either remain patient or get lost," Jin said in a peaceful yet annoyed tone.
Namjoon adjusted his position back but his fists were still sitting on the table as if ready to beat her anytime soon.
"Speak!" Jin ordered.
"Huh-oh! I-I, no, the m-my name is Lee Y/n, I'm twenty-four years old, I'm an archaeology student, my favourite colour is--"
"I am not asking for your hand in marriage, Miss Lee. Just cut to the chase," Jin said while gritting his teeth and frowning brows while Namjoon just scoffed in satisfaction.
"I was in the forest for some research purposes. I'm not sure how my track changed, and I reached a dead grassland. I saw a single blooming amaryllis. And when I touched it out of curiosity something strange opened like a gateway. But I never decided to come here on my own will! I was pushed."
"By Who?" Both the brothers, asked together with their arched brows.
"Two biggie foxes."
"Biggie? What's this?" Jin asked, giving a confused look while Namjoon crinkled his brows together as if searching for the meaning of the newfound word.
"Never heard of it before. I'll check in my library later,"Β Namjoon announced.
"Let me know as well," Jin said while continuously nodding.
Y/n glanced at the two brothers back and forth and tried holding a smile from their interaction. Shortly after, Jin cleared his throat, and the two men's serious aura became visible on their faces, "So you're telling me that a certain two foxes were present when you came here?"
Y/n nodded.
"Was it intentional... this is confusing," SeokJin said in his trance.
"Confusing or not, I've done my part of the deal. Now it's your turn Jin."
"Jin?! How dare you refer him without honorifics, you filthy human!" Namjoon said as he tried scolding Y/n.
"I told her to do so," Jin said with a wink as a half smile played on his lips. Y/n smiled at him while nodding before sticking out her tongue at Namjoon, which made him send a glare in her direction.
"Y/n, you must've heard that no human went back when they stepped on this land. But we can decide to send you back if you prove that you're not sent as a spy and bring those two foxes in front of us."
"WHAT!? Are you being serious? How can I bring any two random foxes in front of you when I am not even in my world? And on top of that, you didn't tell me who you are and what is this place?" Y/n retorted as she stood up from her seat in frustration.
"You're expecting so much from a mere human!" She said and started stepping out of the room, but a strong force held her by my hand, she turned over to see a glaring Namjoon. Y/n glared back and pushed her hand away from his grip.
"Let's conclude," Jin said while still sitting peacefully in his position, "I knew things would turn this way. So I've already prepared some stuff beforehand. Y/n go get changed into the clothes provided in Namjoon's room."
"No, not in my room."
"Is there any other room left except where you are standing, or do you want father and mother to handle this?"
Realising this, Namjoon sighed in defeat and scowled.
"Y/n, go change into a maid's outfit," Jin instructed.
"What? Maid? You can't just make me a slave here."
"If you want to go back home, do as I say," SeokJin said while standing up.
Y/n's hot-headedness resurfaced when she clenched her fists, her glaring gaze fixed on Jin, ready to land a punch on his blabbering mouth. But Jin's next chosen words succeeded in calming her mind.
"This is the only option, Y/n. This way we'll get some time to investigate, and you'll get a reason to stay in this house because it's the safest place for you right now."
She reluctantly sighed and released her clenched fists at his logical response and headed straight towards Namjoon's room, crossing Namjoon. By her peripheral vision, she was sure she saw him smirking in pride.
Stepping into the room, an icy breeze instantly enveloped her, sending shivers down her spine.
The room was dimly lit, with a single flickering candle, on the antique desk in the centre, struggling to cast its glow against the darkness.
The window looked distorted as if no one was allowed to even wipe the dust off it, making the world beyond seem distant and uninviting.
The chair behind the desk, crafted with intricate carvings, seemed to beckon her to sit, but the bookshelf sticking to the wall opposite to the door and behind the chair made her orbs get stuck in curiosity as if calling her to read the testaments they carried. A fluff bedding mattress rested at a distance, sticking to the wall beside.
"Do they always sleep on the ground?"
