Chapter 8: Accepted

It has been five days since Mirae started to work under Big Hit as the assistant choreographer, but she already became close to the trainees as if she's their bestfriend. Well, except for one.

"Noona, can you watch me too?" Jungkook called to Mirae, who just finished watching Jimin with his practice.

"Sure thing, Jungkook! Just give me a minute, I'll just get my water." She smiled to the youngest, who nodded to her.

She has been very busy on checking each choreography that they will perform while also watching each one of them in executing it. She first started with the ones she knows who wouldn't have too much mistakes. Two down, five more to go. Right after she hydrated herself, she walked over the youngest.

"Okay, show me what you got." She nodded, and Jungkook started to perform.

All throughout Jungkook's performance, satisfaction was only felt. Mirae was indeed happy with his performance. And the performance went on and on until Namjoon was the only member left.

Ever since their first encounter, Namjoon now always feel timid around Mirae, yet he never minded to apologise to her. It was as if his pride eats him, even though guilt builds up on his mind. Mirae didn't show anything mean to him, she was just being honest and he knows that. But he can't just accept the fact that she couldn't even see his efforts and passion the way she sees Hoseok, Jungkook, Jimin, Yoongi, Seokjin, and Taehyung. So, with pursed lips, he walked over where Mirae is.

On the other hand, Mirae was already tired and drained from the rehearsals and from teaching the choreography. She still has online tests and classes to attend in three hours. Additionally, her job at the cafΓ© was now gone and passed over to Jihyeon after resigning, to fully give her attention on being the assistant choreographer. Giving her neck a little twist, she noticed Namjoon walking over.

'Tsk, the rapper.' She scoffed to herself before standing straight.

"Okay, let's start." She immediately ordered and Namjoon just quietly waited for the song to play.

In all honesty, the air condition of the room is nice but Namjoon's sweat is evident on his forehead as he nervously dance in front of her. Mirae quickly noticed it so she paused the song, making Namjoon stop.

"You're too stiff, Namjoon-ssi. Start over again, but be more fluid." She nonchalantly said with austerity.

"Okay," He replied weakly.

The other members are just intriguingly watching the two. They've noticed how different Namjoon is around Mirae. He's more quiet and timid, but he only low-key shows that. However, when the eighth time that Mirae told Namjoon to stop dancing, they saw worry in his eyes. Most probably for himself.

"Have you eaten anything this lunch, huh?" Mirae asked, a little irritated, making Namjoon lower his head. "You're dancing stiffly and nervously, as if you're about to get eaten by a deadly monster if you mess up." She scoffed, both hands on waist.

"I'll do better next time." He answered blankly, a little embarrassed.

"Always remember this, Namjoon-ssi. In reality, 'next time' is not always there. You should always do and give your best in every time that you perform, whether rehearsal or live. I thought you trained for years for this, why are you performing as if this is your first day as a trainee?" She questioned, hand brushing through because of frustration.

"I'm sorry," Was the only phrase that left Namjoon's lips, making Mirae sigh heavily.

"Look, Namjoon-ssi." She called, now Namjoon is looking at her. "You're already a good artist, but you can also be the one of the best. To be honest, you have the skills! You can rap awesomely, write songs beautifully, and more. The only problem is that you let your fear circle around you, which affects your performance. I don't even know why you're so nervous."

Little did she know, Namjoon found her intimidating after what happened on their first encounter. It's weird for him to feel this way, but he couldn't help but to act timid around her. Why is this happening? Is it really because of what she said before? Even Namjoon doesn't know the answer.

"Right here, right now, I want you to remove your fears and worries, and dance freely." Mirae encouraged to him, who tilted his head from confusion.

"Freely?" He repeated, Mirae nodded.

"Yes, freely. No choreography to follow, just dance whatever you feel to show." She shrugged, yet saw hesitation in his eyes. "Don't worry, I won't judge you. Just dance, go on."

With a deep breath, Namjoon waited for the song. He's completely nervous, no lies, but as soon as his body moved to the beat, he slowly feel the ease. It was as if he's the only one there, no one to judge him. Meanwhile, Mirae observed Namjoon as he got immensely into the song. She was a little- well, maybe too much- astonished to see him dance that way. He's really best as a rapper, she concluded as she amusingly watch him. His expression looked so passionate and serious. Slowly, a small smile formed on her lips when she realised how effortlessly adorable Namjoon could be. He may not have the best visuals among them, but he surely is charismatic with his mohawk. Unknowingly, the soft giggles of Mirae were heard, that made Namjoon slowly stop from dancing and blush from embarrassment.

"What's so funny?" He asked, looking away to hide the crimson tint of his face.

"N-Nothing," Mirae uttered, surprised that Namjoon noticed her. "Why did you stop?" She asked casually, trying to hide her smile at the sight of his shy state.

"You were laughing at me, probably because I looked like a fool. I don't feel like dancing anymore." He slightly pouted, which made Mirae burst into fit laughter.

Her melodious, soft giggles filled the room. Namjoon was amused to see her laugh like that, also to be the reason of it. The other members, except Jimin, were surprised as well, because they haven't heard her laugh so genuinely.

"Oh my! You're so funny, I can't handle it!" She breathed with some laughters.

"Am I a joke to you?" He asked, confused.

"No, you're not!" She smiled, punching his arm slightly. "I just found you adorable while doing your own freestyle. Your face seems so passionate but your body says the opposite." She commented after gaining her poise, it seems her tiredness was swept away.

"Is that something I should be happy about?" He quirked his lips, face turning pink after hearing that he was adorable in her eyes, then earned a shrug from her.

"Well, yes. Also, no. Yes, because you can use your expressions and charisma while dancing. No, because dancing isn't really much for you." She explained, but seeing dismay on Namjoon's face made her think of a way to cheer him up. "But look on the bright side. You may not be the best in dancing," She then leaned closer to whisper, making Namjoon stand stiffly due to the close proximity. "But I do like your rap style. I mean it."

When Mirae stepped back and walked over the corner where her things were, that's when the air, that Namjoon never expected to be trapped, is now breathed out. He could feel the loud pounding of his chest, maybe because of the compliment and interactions. This is the first time he heard Mirae compliment him on something he is really good with. Maybe she indeed complimented him with different things before, but he appreciates this last one more. Now, seeing her pack her things, Namjoon left the room to do something.

On the other hand, Mirae is now prepared to leave after minutes of packing her things. She walked towards the boys, however, she also noticed that Namjoon isn't here with them.

"Hey, guys! I have to go now, I still have online classes to attend and some homeworks to do. Hoseok," She called, earning a 'yes' from the male. "You're in charge of leading while I'm gone. Please do help Namjoon and cheer him up. I think your leader is getting too much anxious for your upcoming debut." She kindly reminded, and all nodded in agreement.

After bidding goodbye, she was about to walk farther away when Namjoon suddenly called her attention. She looked to where the voice came, and she saw Namjoon running towards her.

"Namjoon-ssi?" She confusingly asked, Namjoon is now panting as he stood in front of her.

"Here," He breathed, handing over the soda that he bought. "I don't know what kind of drinks you would like, but I hope you like it." He shyly uttered as he rubbed his nape, while Mirae is slightly surprised.

"Why, thank you. But... What is this drink for?" She innocently asked, scanning the canned soda in her hands.

"I just want to say sorry for being disrespectful during our first meeting. I was just so stress and anxious that I lost control of my emotions, so I'm sorry about that.... I hope you could forgive me and become friends." He said with all sincerity, receiving a pat on his shoulder.

"It's no big deal, I already forgave you before you could even ask for it." She smiled, which somehow put a small smile on Namjoon's lips. "See?" She suddenly giggled.

"Huh?"

"You look best when you smile, so don't hide it." She commented, making him smile more without his notice. "Thank you for the drink, Namjoon-ssi! I have to go now or I'll miss my class. Goodbye!" She happily waved her hand before jogging through the hall.

"Bye, Mirae-ssi...." Namjoon whispered as he watched her disappear from his sight.

When Namjoon entered the room, six pair of eyes were fixated on him. Shrugging the embarrassing feeling, he casually sat along with them while they just steal some glances from each other, snickering.

On the other hand, quietly sitting on the bus, Mirae's smile never left her lips after that. She's happy because now, she's no longer awkward with any of them.

"You're not that bad after all, Kim Namjoon." She chuckled slightly before taking a sip of the soda he bought for her. She hopes that after reconciling with Namjoon, her job will be easier since she's good terms with all.
