Chapter 6: Flabbergast
Mirae's conversation with Jimin was cut when Hoseok called her attention. The other members were quite interested to see their new mentor perform so they've decided to ask her for a sample performance.
"Hi, Mirae-ssi!" Hoseok greeted.
"Oh, hey! Hoseok, right?" Mirae asked, and he nodded. "Just call me Mirae or Raeya, no need to be too formal about it." She kindly informed, to which Hoseok took note.
"Well," He initiated. "We are all curious on how you perform so...."
"Sure." Mirae simply answered before Hoseok could even finish his sentence, which left him startled.
"S-Sure?" He repeated.
"Yeah. I mean, if you want me to perform for you all, then I will." She shrugged with a smirk, knowing that people around her always ask the same thing when she says she's a freelance choreographer.
"That's great!" Hoseok beamed, pulling her towards the center where the others are gathered. "Guys, Mirae will perform for us!" And it received different reactions.
Knowing her skills, Jimin just smirked as he sat beside Yoongi, who is curiously looking at Mirae. Jungkook and Taehyung were looking like an excited child upon seeing their favourite cartoon film, while Seokjin and Namjoon were just quietly waiting for her to perform.
"Well, to make it fair, why don't you choose a song for me to dance? Let me hear it once, then I will try to perform a freestyle choreography of it after." She instructed, so Jimin insisted on choosing a song for her.
After a few minutes of searching, Jimin chose an old song and let her listen to it. September, by Earth, Wind, & Fire. She first let herself feel the beat, and thought of steps that would perfectly match the performance. Jimin chose something difficult, it's not much of an easy song to dance, yet Mirae is determined to show them what she got. And so, the show finally begins.

[A/N: you can watch the first performer as the reference on how Mirae danced the song.]
The soft, delicate features of hers, turned into something different the moment she felt the beat of the song. Beguiling, so enticing. Her innocent doe eyes became fierce and competitive, as if she's a whole new person. Her smile is so confident, she knows how to steal the spotlight. She's wearing jeans and a white tee with a brown cardigan jacket, yet it looked so attractive while she danced.
She's indeed something else, and they won't lie that they expected less than what she have shown. After dancing, she was panting a little before facing them with a soft smile and bowed. The members started clapping happily, except for one. He can't explain, but Namjoon is still skeptical about her, even though she is indeed a performer, and why did their boss hired her if there are other people who could work on her position with better skills.
"Woah, that was amazing!" Taehyung cheered. "I haven't done freestyle that is as cool as yours, noona!" He added, calling her the right honorifics after knowing her age.
She's born in 1994, just like Hoseok and Namjoon, but she's four days older than Namjoon. The maknaes already started to call her as 'noona', while Seokjin and Yoongi insisted on calling her the nickname 'Raeya'. However, Namjoon still went on calling her 'Mirae-nim' since she's their mentor.
After receiving praises and requests, Mirae finished it by telling them that they should go back to practicing again. Taehyung and Seokjin whined playfully, while the rest are energetic, yet leaving Namjoon to just silently oblige. Mirae wasn't blind to see how cold and dry that man is, especially towards her. She knows that behind those thick, black shades, are eyes that are judging her and her abilities on why she's chosen in this job. She's just thinking that maybe, after a couple of days, his doubts will fade and will soon trust her the way his members do. And so, she watched them perform their other song, We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2.

Quietly observing their movements, she noticed how differently skilled they are in terms of dancing, especially the dance line. Hoseok is the type of dancer who can dance a difficult choreography but still make it look easy and fun for the people watching him. His movements are smooth and neat, very amazing. But Hoseok has a sharpΒ styleΒ to hisΒ dancingΒ since he can hit very fast movements precisely. He also adds very bold movements, like the bouncing affect to make his movements even more bolder, but he's still fluid. Hoseok can actually switch from bold to fluid moves without messing up.
Jimin is the type of dancer who will pour his best in every steps, that even a simple step can look awesomely difficult while watching him. He got this suave aura, quite attractive, while he dance. Considering that he was once called the contemporary dance prodigy, his movements are flowy and rather smooth.
Meanwhile, Jungkook is differently amazing from the two. HisΒ moves are very sharp, with him hitting positions on beats, separating each move from the next. He tends to be more lowkey in his freestyle, and doesn't have as much fluidity in his movements as the otherΒ dance line members.
On the other hand, Mirae also noticed how skilled Yoongi is in dancing. He once told her that he hates moving too much, but she can tell that his dancing is above average. He can cope with the steps quite well, but you can see that he does have more passion in being a producer and writer. Maybe if he pour more efforts, he could be a member of the dance line.
Next is Taehyung. Taehyung is not as good as Jimin and Hoseok, but he ranks higher than the others. He is a well rounded member and is multi-talented, if Mirae would conclude. He has great duality like Jimin, and can dance smoothly and sharply. He has a lot of energy, and whenever she watches him dance, he keeps up with Jimin and Hoseok really well. Taehyung is clean when he dances, you don't see him being wobbly or unbalanced. He can get the hard choreos down pat. Mirae personally thinks that he and Jungkook are pretty neck to neck when it comes to better dancing. He's qualified to be part of the dance line.
Now moving to Jin. Being honest with her critics, even though Jin is quite below average in terms of dancing, he can cope well too. He does have some powerful and sharp movements at times, but they're not consistent like the first five she have observed. He sometimes tend to be stiff, his timing is sometimes off, and would occasionally experience little mistakes but they aren't really noticeable. For Mirae, Jin may not be that good, but he is adorable when he dances. She can see how hard working he is to cope with the choreo, and she appreciates it so much. She knows that sooner or later, Jin can surely enhance his skills in dancing.
Lastly, Namjoon. Namjoon is quite, well almost, worse than Jin, if Mirae would honestly say. Namjoon is pretty stiff when he dances, but he does get super into the music and has really great facial expressions. Mirae thinks he works best with just dancing with whatever he wants to, instead of a choreography, because it looks sort of forced. He tends to look a bit awkward while dancing, but he definitely isn't bad enough where you would notice and pick him out from the other members from first glance. He can blend in pretty well but while she just focuses on him, she can for sure see he can be a bit aggressive while dancing. She also noticed his unique facial expressions even though his eyes are covered with his glasses. He can get super into the music and can get very charismatic, which is something Mirae had observed.
Noticing her eyes on him, Namjoon felt quite tensed. He's thinking why her stare stayed the most on him. Is he that bad? Suddenly, he became conscious with how he dances and how she judges him in her mind. And so, when the dance break came, Namjoon sighed heavily in relief to at least get away with her stare. Then finally, the dance is done. They all gathered in front of Mirae to get her opinions on how they dance.
"So..." Jimin breathed. "How was it?" And they looked at her with expecting eyes.
"It was amazing, not going to lie. I'm flabbergasted with how clean you all performed the song." She stated frankly, and they felt relieved. "However," Now the relief sank down and became worry. "Can I give my honest opinions about how you all individually executed the steps?" She asked in permission.
"Sure, Mirae-nim. We would like to hear it." Namjoon nodded, but deep inside, he is worried about her reviews on him.
