"What happened to you?" Dawn asked fatuously as we sat in my car eating burgers from a nearby spot I used to go to with my brothers when we'd sneak out of the many gala's Bruce held for community purposes and more so to keep the press off of him

"What do you mean?" I asked as I bit into one of the crisp french fries and looked toward her

"You're so big. Look at your arm, it's huge, man." She replied causing me to laugh

"Hmm...someone's looking, and I think she likes it." I teased causing her to roll her eyes as she gently pushed my shoulder

"Whatever, don't forget I do remember when you were a skinny, 4'11 adorable little acrobat." She rebutted as she finished the last bit of her burger

"Well, love, I'm not little Grayson anymore but I'm still a bit of an acrobat from time to time" I replied causing her to smile as she turned in the passenger seat to completely face me

"Also, you're not little Brown anymore either, Dawn." I teased referring to her growth spurt as she laughed blissfully

"Don't get started with me, Gray." She said as she sipped her drink slowly leaving her brown lipstick to slightly stain the straw

"I'm just saying, I'm not the only one here who grew up." I retorted pointing out the obvious with a smile

"Yeah, yeah" She replied before stealing my fries causing me to laugh and let her have her way

"You're still a little food gremlin I see." I joked causing her to laugh and say promptly, "Just for your food, of course, it's only right."

"Oh my God, remember that night our little asses ran off to the top of that building and our parents went ballistic." Dawn blurted randomly as she began to laugh

"Hell yes, I do, because I also seem to remember you didn't get in any trouble for your idea only I did!" I replied while looking over toward her

"Don't act like we didn't have fun! We got ice cream and raced each other down the streets, plus..." She stated before I cut her off finishing her statement, "We had our first kiss that night."

"Yeah..." She said smiling as she began cleaning up the food wrappers from our meal

"I got that, y'know?" I insisted causing her to give me a side eye as she finished cleaning up

"You look cute when you do that," I then said while watching her every movement causing her to smile

"You flirting with me, Grayson?" She asked with a little smirk causing me to sillily take in a bit of air through my clenched teeth smile as I raised my palms slightly

"I mean, maybe...just maybe," I answered causing her to smile a bit harder

"Whatever, boy scout." She replied before I asked, "You wanna go do something spontaneous like that again?"

"At night? In Gotham City?! While Batman is out there with all his little sidekicks kicking ass?" She asked dramatically causing me to shrug my shoulders with a laugh

"It's not that bad." I replied knowing I had more than the capability to keep her safe, "But, if it makes you feel a bit more comfortable I can take you to the manor?" I then proposed

"Already, trying to take me to meet his playboy Father." She said while she shook her head causing me to laugh

"You're right, I mean about the playboy part of course, Bruce is definitely out on the town. So, we'd have the house to ourselves for the most part. But, you'll meet him soon enough." I said as I started up my car beginning to drive out of Gotham City

"Is he nice?" She then asked

"Bruce is a sweetheart genuinely just doesn't like to show it too much." I answered before saying, "Now, the brothers and sister, it's four of them and if they flirt with you ignore them."

Dawn did nothing other than laugh as she connected her phone to my car's bluetooth and said excitedly, "I can't wait!"

"Hey, guys, I'm home!" I called as I walked through the front door of Wayne Manor, hoping my siblings were out on patrol so I wouldn't have to deal with them flirting with Dawn

"Go back to college you traitor!" I heard Tim yell causing me to roll my eyes as I took a deep breath while Dawn laughed at me

My little, ecstatic sister then ran around the corner and into my arms causing me to smile as she said, "Why do you keep leaving me with these assholes?"

"I was just here two days ago Cass," I replied causing her to look over at Dawn

"Who's she?" Cassandra asked with a polite smile

"Yeah, who's beautiful?" Tim asked with a smile plastered across his rosy cheeks

"This is Dawn, a close friend of mine," I answered about to introduce them until Jason walked into the room with a little smirk

"Has playboy Richard Grayson retired from his professional line of work that consists of breaking hearts?" Jason said causing me to send a glare his way as Dawn looked at me while laughing lowly

"Jason, drop it." I then said causing him to throw his hands up in his defense as he began to laugh

"I'm just fucking around, Dickie, isn't that bad." Jason then said before Damian walked around the corner with Ace looking Dawn up and down before walking over and giving me a side hug

"Hello, brother and friend." He said in the usual monotone he uses when meeting new people

"Hi" She replied to Damian with a small smile

"Anyway, Dawn, that's my little sister, my knuckle-headed brother, Jason; the smart brother, Tim; and-" I began informing before Damian cut me off before I could finish saying, "And I'm his favorite brother, Damian."

"Yes," I agreed to disagreed before asking knowingly, "Bruce out?"

"Well, of course," Jason answered with a smirk

"Well, we'll be in my room. That means respect my privacy this time or I call Alfred." I said causing them all to huff except Jason and Damian

All of this threatening meant nothing though...they'd still find a way to vex me.

"It was nice to meet you all." Dawn then replied before I began slightly pulling her away before my siblings could get more of a chance to try and embarrass me

"Nice to meet you too." They all replied as we made our way up the left staircase heading toward my room

"You have quite the family," Dawn said with a little laugh as I shook my head

"You don't even know the half," I replied as we walked through my room door and in causing me to quickly lock the door behind us while hearing the faint footsteps of my siblings nosily approaching

Dawn then laughed uncontrollably before collapsing on my bed holding her stomach causing me to smile as I walked toward her

I then laid next to her as I asked in a playful manner, "What's so funny?"

"You! You are so worried about them embarrassing you and it's absolutely hilarious." She said between stifled laughter

"They'll get many more days to tell you embarrassing stories about me, tonight, I just want it to be me and you catching up by ourselves," I replied causing her to bite her lip gently

"What are you tryna say, Gray? You want mwah to stick around?" She teased with a sincere smile and idyllic demeanor

"Yes, of course," I answered maybe a bit too quickly

"Then...I guess...I can stay around." She said slightly tilting her head to the side as she smirked

"Stay the night..." I entreated as I rested my hand on her waist causing her to look into my eyes with a smile

"I am tired." Dawn replied causing me to laugh as I inched a bit closer to her and said hastily yet intriguingly, "Stay."

"Alright, but first, where are your shirts, big boy?" She then asked causing my eyebrow to raise as I said, "Top dresser drawer, why?"

"Because a girls gotta freshen up and I'm staying under the condition I get to steal your shower before you use it." Marshy insisted as she lifted herself from my bed and walked toward my dresser grabbing one of my shirts

"Fine by me. There's everything from face towels to new toothbrushes in there. Knock yourself out, I'll bring anything else if you need," I informed her before she smiled walking into the bathroom

"Well, thank you, Mr. Grayson, or is it Wayne?" She asked teasingly

"It's actually Grayson-Wayne" I replied with a smirk as she made a silly expression before closing the door

"Dawn..." I called as I walked out of my bathroom from my recent shower seeing she was nowhere to be found before noticing my balcony door open with the faint breeze blowing my sheer curtains outward

"Out here, boy scout." She said causing me to make my way out onto the balcony

I couldn't help but steal a quick glance at her perfect golden skin, or my shirt she wore that diminished at her upper thigh and most definitely how it hugged her body effortlessly as the gentle gales of wind blew her now curly hair ever so slightly.

"It's nice isn't it?" I asked as I stopped beside her with the faint winds caressing my bare chest

"It's beautiful." She answered looking at the horizon which showed the skyline of Gotham City in the long distance flawlessly

"Y'know I see something a hell of a lot more beautiful than that skyline." I rebutted causing her to smile before she turned to face me

"Oh, really?" She said in an almost unreadable tone as she looked up at me with the moonlight glittering across her iris'

"You know I've always thought that...?" I admitted truthfully as she placed her hand on my chest

"Yes." She answered a bit above a whisper as I placed my hands on her waist

"I also knew there was a time you loved me more than a best friend should." Dawn then said lightly trailing her finger over my jawline

"Well, I also know that though you never said it you felt the same way..." I replied as I looked daringly into her eyes as she returned the same expression

"It sounds fictional, doesn't it? A little girl waiting years for her best friend to return knowing he couldn't due to a situation out of his control." She said with a little chuckle as she diverted slightly from my statement

"It sounds like to me we waited too long to admit the truth to one another," I replied as her hand moved to the side of my neck

"Maybe we did..." She said as she began to stare at my lips moving her line of sight between my lips and eyes causing me to gently pull her closer

"And maybe this is our second chance to fix that mistake..." I rebutted as we began to move in dangerously close to each other's lips also feeling the warmth from each other's skin burning into one another's

"I want to fix it." I proclaimed promisingly as I softly grabbed her cheek before pressing my lips against hers causing her to do the same

There was an intense fire burning between our lips. A longing not to break free in hopes it would fill the void we left in one another for years. Yet, with those many years that had passed it never changed the fact that we still direly loved one another.
