ADAMANTINE

Darkness fell over the hushed township of Vermont, which complimented the rural area's high reputation. Vermont truly was gorgeous place, with fragrant and colorful scenery; what isn't there to love about the dainty place?

The answer? The people who live there.

Such as our main protagonists, Gajeel Redfox, and his wife, Levi.

They'd been married for five years now, and had raised a beautiful daughter by the name of, 'Emma.'

Out of all of the citizens of Vermont, the Refox family is the most famous; considering that they were actually celebrities.

Levi was a world-renown singer a few years ago, and Gajeel was often her partner in music videos, and simple acting parts that were never really introduced to the general public. Somehow, by the end of her career, they were already talking about engagement.

Though their music careers were abandoned many years ago, most of their fans still beg for their return to the spotlight. It would be a miracle for that to happen.

"Gajeel, you bought the snacks for Emma, right? It must have slipped my mind earlier."

His petite bluenette of a wife, lets out a languid whistle and leans on her fist as she stares out of the passenger side window.

There wasn't much to see at night, especially in the area they were in. Trees and fairly tall buildings covered the night sky, with the full moon being the only light throughout the municipality. He turns down the radio and smiles softly in her direction.

"Of course I did. And, are you alright? You've been out of it lately.."

He whispers calmly, resting his palm atop of hers and squeezing it.

"I'm fine, Gajeel. How've you been? Wendy told me that you've been working overtime.

She glances at him through her peripherals, her eyebrows raising after her statement.

"Ah, right. I'll get more PTO that way."

He nods slowly, squinting his eyelids as he stares down the road.

"You know, Gajeel, you should come home once in a while. Emma misses you a lot."

She shifts around in her seat, leaning her head on his broad shoulder.

"Levi, I'm just doing what's best for us."

He strokes her teal locks of hair with his other hand, pressing his lips to her forehead.

"Rarely seeing your three year-old daughter, is what's best for us?!"

She grits her teeth, swatting his hands away from her.

"Babe, you know that's not what I mean."

He exhales, turning the car into the driveway of their new home.

Lucy, an old high-school friend of Levi's, had her silver Impala parked on the outside perimeter of their front yard, which most certainly meant that she was already inside of the house.

Which meant that Emma was also.

"I'm not sure if I'll ever know what you mean! You're choosing your job over your family like it's nothing! Think about your children, Gajeel! Our children.."

She whispers the last part of her outburst, wiping her teary eyelids.

"I am thinking about them, L--!"

She cuts him off at the last half of his sentence and sighs.

  "Gajeel, I want a divorce."

Levi stares him in the eyes as his tilts his head in confusion.

He takes a moment to process the information, starting at her in disbelief.

Her expression remains unwavered; the same cold, apathetic stare that she gave him in the car.

  "A divorce? Levi, that's a bit extreme, isn't it?"

His left eye twitches at her unbelievable request.

"If you're going to keep acting like this, I'd rather you not be in Emma's life at all."

Levi sighs, shaking her head and walking toward the front door to the residence.

  "Levi! Let's talk about th-!"

  She interrupts him once again.

"Emma and I will be leaving tomorrow evening."

She states firmly, opening the wooden door panel to their home.

The ebony-haired male bites down on his lip, his canines digging into the soft flesh.

She was so close, but somehow, so distant.
