(1) Four Leaf Clover

One Shot

Your back makes a soft thud as you land roughly on the ground, shifting ever so slightly to get comfortable on the freshly cut grass that glistened with dew.

When you take a deep breath, you could smell the sugary sweet aroma of the nature that surrounded you. With your eyes closed, you could also hear the flowing water of the river beside you and finally you exhale deeply.

This was your sanctuary and escape from the busy world around you; the only time you could really relax.

Sometimes you just needed to take yourself away from the stress and negativity of the world and just have a moment to yourself in the bubble of peace only your spot could bring you to.

Soon enough, you dozed off, your school jacket laying messily beside you and your backpack behind your head for cushioning, as the sun kissed your skin.
————————————————
Eventually you woke up, blinking blearily and noting with heavy eyes that the sun would soon be setting -your favorite time of the day.

You propped yourself up on your elbows and languidly brushed your hands on the turf, eyeing the clovers and dandelions that were scattered all around.

At one point you paused, your eye catching on one particular leaf out of them all. When you reached over to pick it up, you huff in sheer disbelief, drawing the clover closer to your face.

It wasn't just an ordinary clover though, it was a four leafed clover.
.
.
.
You broke out into a huge grin.

Your eyes then softly fluttered shut and you mouthed a quick wish before tucking the leaf away delicately between the pages of your textbook.

'I wish that everyday would be full of this much hope and peace'

That much you believed was probable.

With another lazy yawn, you put your earphones on and began humming softly while bobbing your head to the music that was playing. You laid down once more and got lost in the clouds above you.
.
.
.
That is until the sound of someone screaming broke you out of your little reverie.

"WATCH OUT!" Someone warned and you reflexively curled up into a ball, a good move because that was when a bike narrowly missed the spot where you were sitting on.

It skidded down the slope and crashed into a stump, throwing the man who was riding it off and you swore at that moment, you truly believed that people had the ability to fly.

But that belief ended the second he crashed into the water.
.
.
.
"I-I can't swim!" The man shouted and your eyes widened in disbelief as you clumsily stood up and ran down to help him out.

"Out of all the people who had to end up in a river..." you thought amazedly.

Without thinking twice though, you dived into the icy river and swam to the aid of the flailing man, wrapping your arms around his waist tightly and dragging him back to the shore.

He probably didn't realize he wasn't sinking anymore because he was still waving his arms up and down.

"Will you stop moving for just a minute? We're both going to go down if you keep this up" you pointed out sarcastically and when he tenses in surprise you knew you were right about him not realizing you were there.

"Oh" he smartly responded.

*pant*

"You..."

*pant*

"...are much heavier than..."

*pant*

"...I thought" you said in between each breath as you collapsed tiredly onto the grass once more, this time your entire body soaked from your head all the way to the socks that adorned your feet.

The man clears his throat embarrassedly and lets out an awkward laugh.

"My bad..." he sheepishly responds and finally you turn his way.

You made the wrong move however, when you realized you were face to face with one of the most attractive men you had ever had the pleasure of laying your eyes on.

The man, although also drenched entirely, was smiling widely in an apologetic manner. His water soaked hair was matted against his face and was a rich brown -probably lighter when it was dry.

He ruffled his fingers through his hair nervously to dry it off and flecks of water splashed all around you. One particular droplet of water trailed teasingly down his neck, disappearing under the collar of his shirt and you only then realized that his shirt was white.

And wet.

And clinging perfectly against his skin, hugging the taut muscles underneath it.

Your finger twitched once as you tried to school your expression and luckily he didn't notice you staring.

"...again I'm really sorry about that...I was in a rush to get home after my practice ended really late and I completely didn't expect that cat to cross the road..." he explained and you nod slowly, wondering just how unlucky he had to be to dodge a cat only to then end up in a river.

He noticed your skeptical look because he laughed since more, this time 10 times more brightly and your breath hitched at the sight of his dimples.

"I'm just a really unlucky guy..." he pointed out and finally you broke out into a small smile.

"I'll say" you responded back amusedly and his eyes crinkle in response.

He stood up with a wet squelch of his shoes and offered his hand to you. "I'm Jung Hoseok" he said and you gripped his hand firmly.

He easily pulled you up as if you weighed nothing and you had to hide your surprise at how strong he was.

"I-I'm Y/N" you said, internally facepalming at your little stutter.

He either chose to ignore your stumble or genuinely didn't notice it at all before placing his hand over his eyes to shield the sun as he peered around the area.

"Ah! Found it!" He exclaimed and jogged towards the bike lying near your belongings. You trailed behind him but then he started slowing down before fully coming to a stop.

"Oh damn..." he muttered and you bent to the side to see what had him swearing. You pushed back the snort that was about to come out when you eye the bicycle -or at least what was left of it.

You hear Hoseok groan into his hands "...Namjoon's going to kill me..." he muttered and you raised your brows in confusion. He faced you with a small grimace.

"This isn't mine..." he explained and you ah'd in understanding.

He flopped down in defeat and lay on his back shutting his eyes in distress. You could only stare, unsure of what to do at this point because it wasn't everyday a stranger crashed into your life -literally.

Suddenly one of his eyes opened and he patted the space next to him.

"Are you just going to stand there?" He asked with a small grin.

You didn't need to be asked twice and so you quietly sat down next to him.

"So...Y/N-ah/ya" he started and then shifted to his side to face you. You tried to ignore how nice your name sounded coming from his lips but it was a futile effort.

"...I don't think I thanked you for saving my life yet" he continued and you shook your head with a wry smile.

"You don't have to. I mean I definitely dive headfirst into rivers almost everyday trying to save unlucky idiots like you" you say sarcastically but the moment you realized you called a stranger an idiot, you flushed bright red.

"I-I mean you're not an idiot or anything like that, I'm sorry I don't have a filter in my mouth and I didn't mean that at all p-" you said hurriedly but you're cut off by his laugh.

He clutched his stomach and continued chuckling and you couldn't help but giggle lightly yourself, unable to resist his contagious personality.

"Ah~ I swear you just made my day" he admitted, flashing you another wide grin.

"How can one person smile this much after what just happened to him?..." you think in incredulity but nevertheless he continued beaming at you.

Suddenly however, he started flailing around, throwing a mini tantrum, and then slapped his hands on his cheeks.

"...but damn. This wasn't the way I imagined meeting a cute girl like you. How uncool" he said, mostly to himself, but your heart raced sporadically.

"I guess it's a good thing too though...I was sweaty from practice and the water definitely cooled me off...plus I wouldn't have seen you if the dumb cat didn't cross my path so I guess something good came out of this" he continued, shooting you a cheeky smile and you laughed amusedly.

"Oh yeah. Thank you to the cat for making my day all the more exciting" you joked and he shook his head at you.

Although you enjoyed your peace and quiet, this certainly wasn't an unfavorable outcome of the day.

You went over his words once more. "Wait...practice?" You asked curiously and he nodded proudly.

"Yeah. I dance and I've been practicing to audition for this company called BigHit." He explained and you smirked softly.

"Ooo so you're trying to become an idol?" You teased cheekily and he laughed.

"Mhm. It's just a dream for now though. But I'm not sure...that kind of life isn't always stable...I don't know if I'd be able to make it" he says nervously but shrugs to make it seem like it wasn't a big deal.

He quickly grinned though. "Which is exactly the reason why I'm practicing 5x harder. I'm going to put everything I have to this" he said determinedly and you smile, liking how positive he was despite the odds against him.

"I believe in you" you simply said and he turned to you in surprise.

"...there's something about you that makes me believe that you'll make it big" you say after a couple seconds of scrutinizing him, taking note of his overall beaming personality and genuine character. Plus, if he could dance well he was already a step ahead.

He broke out into a touched smile. "Aww so first you save my life and now you became my first fan?" He teased and you laughed.

"Shut up..." you said, shoving him lightly, making him crack up even more.

You raised one brow at him. "But if you're going to be in a group you can't only be dancing" you pointed out, but his smile didn't even waver.

At his look you raise a brow. "You can sing then?" You asked but he shook his head.

"Nope" he easily responded and you huff lightly.

"So you're going to be the visuals?" You asked with a smile but then he waggled his brows.

"Ohohoho Y/N~ you think I'm good enough to be the visuals?" He pointed out with a grin and you freeze, realizing your mistake but it was too late, he was already relishing in your words.

You rolls your eyes good heartedly but then snap your fingers in understanding. "No I know! You'll be the rapper!" you say with a knowing look.

He stared at you incredulously before breaking out into another round of laughter and then waggled his finger at you.

"Now if that wasn't the funniest thing I've heard today. There's no way I'd become a rapper, I've never even rapped before" he shot back with an amused chuckle and you stuck your tongue out.

"Who knows, you could end up being one of the best in the group, becoming the first Kpop band to get recognition internationally; maybe even win awards while you're at it" you threw out with a shrug.

He stared at you silently for a couple of moments and then sputtered out in disbelief. "Pfft. Like that'll ever happen!" he shot back with a laugh and you chuckled in good humor at your exaggeration as well.

You realized at that moment, you were completely at ease with this man around and one glance at the bag laying casually to the side had you realizing something important.

Quickly, you shuffle towards it, ignoring the confused look Hoseok shot your way.

You reached into the bag and dug for that one book before flipping through the pages with a purpose.

"Aha!" You exclaim and lift your hands up triumphantly, holding up the four leaf clover into the air.

Hoseok now looked at you strangely and you huffed at him before crawling next to him once more.

"I found this earlier but I'm pretty sure my wish already came true..." you began and Hoseok looked at you now in curiousity.

"I think could count as my hope..." you thought knowingly, giving the man beside you a glance.

Hesitatingly, you reach for his hands and he blinks owlishly at you, flustered by your bold move.

You ignore him however and open his palms to drop the clover in it before gently closing his fingers over it.

His brows furrowed, not understanding what you were doing and that made you break out into a wider grin.

"Jung Hoseok..." you began.

"...today you met a stranger who may or may not have saved your life but maybe there was a reason for that..." you announced and his eyes softened at your words.

"...and now that I know what your dream is, I'm going to support you all the way. This lucky charm will help you reach your goals too. I believe in that" you promised and he gaped at you as if seeing you for the first time.

He felt his heart skip a beat and wondered when the last time a complete stranger put this much faith in him...he couldn't say.

"I'm putting all my faith into your dream because I don't think you'll make it big, I know you will." You told him and grinned. "That's what you'll be to other people too; their Hope" You said, ending your impromptu speech.

With those final words, you reached for your jacket and your bag then stood up.

"Let's go Hoseok-ah!" You chirped up brightly, nudging towards your own bike.

"I'll drop you off at your place and you can send someone to pick up your broken bike later" you offered and before he could refuse you skipped happily away, leaving him to watch your back as a rush of emotions coursed through him.

Incredulity

Happiness

Surprise

Confidence

And now, newfound determination.

He pushed himself off the ground and jogged your way, his goals clearer than ever now.

"...so you all are debuting soon and we're going to have to pick out your stage names"

Everyone looks at each other thoughtfully and after a long discussion -their CEO giving his own input here and there- they came to a decision.

"...okay so Suga is for you Yoongi..." he trails off before turning to Hoseok with a curious look.

"How about you Hoseok-ah? Got anything in mind?"

Hoseok purses his lips for a couple of seconds and then smiles knowingly at everyone as he recalled the words of a girl he met by chance all those months ago.

"Yeah...how about, Jhope?" He offered with a grin and his members mouthed that to themselves.

"Jhope...hmm has a nice ring to it...I like it" Yoongi says with a smirk and everyone nods approvingly as well while shooting him a thumbs up.

Hoseok hands instinctively reached out for the laminated clover that sat in his wallet as a constant reminder of what he promised he would become on that fated day.

Hey loves here's the next Hobi fluff! 🍀

This was my own twist on pre-debut Hoseok and my made up story in how he came up with that name.

I hope you all enjoyed that and pictured that nicely.

I don't know if you all realized though, but Hobi is getting more and more wild bese days and I'm slowly falling in love with him over and over again.

It's quite the painful process.

Anyways I hope you've all been well and if you enjoyed this little one shot, please vote! (It would mean a lot to me ♥️)
